    when you are flying around in your ship. the consoles around your cockpit you can see all do present relevant informations to you flying your ship- arrows will light up according to which direction you are moving, or using your directional thrusters. how fast you are which wpn systems are installed etc., if ya could disable your ingame hud you would still see relevant information to you flying your ship.

    I reckon you'd appreciate Cyberpunk 2077 if you did choose to play it some day. The stigma around its launch doesn't apply anymore, and it's the most well realized world I've come across. This is perhaps more in regards to writing, but it feels like Bethesda is "playing safe" to their own detriment. Sorry if I come across as pushy, Cyberpunk is just very special to me. I appreciate the attention you give to these environments.

      I've definitely been tempted to check it out with all the buzz around the new DLC and big update. I might wait for a "complete edition" with both bundled together to go on sale before checking it out though.

    You can really tell that Devs spend alot of time to make the few handcrafted areas in the game as good as possible. Each town has a unique vibe and my exitement went way up when I saw the " Calypso" as a model in The Lodge :) Many stations/ outposts are really deeply modeled and detailed. However its always just one town modeled on a planet, not much AI life going on, everything else is barren and boring. And travel is a just one loading screen after another. And no vehicles, just walking. The concept of having a 1000 planets just doenst work with BGS using this old engine and not innovating enough. A mod should just remove all these generated planets and leave only the beautiful ones with handcrafted stuff on them.

    The screens all look very similar to industrial control software. The kinds of things you might use to manage huge networks of machines in a big factory or all the little bits of a powerplant.
    As for art style, I'd call it more Brutalism than Supremacism. Brutalism focuses undecorated and exposed structural elements. All the technobabble numbers and complicated flowcharts make it feel as if you're looking directly into the brain of a machine.

      @@PretzelYT "On a good sale" that's a great way to get the game! Your expectations will be adequate to the price. And very important to get the game together with Phantom liberty. Dogtown from DLC is just 1/10th the size of Night City but I would even risk saying it's more diverse than rest of NC. Cheers :D

    Thanks, I can't let myself play this or I'll lose months to just walking around looking at things, so I have to live vicariously through your videos. I agree these environments feel so small and empty they break the immersion. It seems like a disappointing game compared to FO3 or even FO4 which wasn't as great. At least it's not just endless trash like New Vegas. (Seriously who placed all those empty generic soda bottles and why???)

    people have said that this game is a nasa simulator and I agree with that, go out into the universe and discover a new planet, moon, ect. very startrek almost, just sans wacky sentient aliens. Still very fun, I prefer it over NMS, starfield is more grounded I guess? realistic? idk what the right word is, maybe its just the fact that its our own universe and not fictional.

    • @PretzelYT
      @PretzelYT  7 месяцев назад

      Funnily enough, I played and made a video on No Man's Sky not long after this video. And I did enjoy exploring those worlds for how alien they are. I'm not gonna say they're necessarily BETTER, because like you pointed out, they go for different things. Maybe in another mood, I would prefer the more "realistic" planets of Starfield over the wacky alien planets of No Man's Sky.

  • @oxymoron02

    To claim that they couldn't have modelled a habitable Earth in-game is naive, at best. Would it have bloated the game to have this one planet in higher detail, with more buildings and NPCs? Yes.
    Is it impossible? Absolutely bloody not. Bethesda are just lazy these days. All of the AAA devs are; look at Rockstar "we never planned singleplayer DLC for GTA5" while the original post announcing it is STILL up on their Newswire site to this day.

    Starfield is cool for what it is, but it’s hard to get used to the artificiality. You can fast travel from anywhere to anywhere. Hell fast travel from a cave to the orbit of another planet in your ship, skipping the ship. Too many loading screens. Compare that to something organic like botw, and totk. All the loading screens broke the illusion for me

    • @PretzelYT
      @PretzelYT  9 месяцев назад

      My next video has me talking about exactly that and some of my other problems with the game relating to exploration.
      That being said, I did enjoy my time overall with Starfield. Though I kinda have to be in a certain mood to be down to play more, and I've been in that mood less and less in the weeks since release.

      What it is is inconsistent. Some vistas are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in a game, but other times it looks like it was color-corrected on my school's Apple II that they never used the screen saver on.

    This game was pure torture to play, getting worse with time. I managed to endure it 52 hours, then I completed the main quest and never came back. At first, I tried to do every single side quest, scan every planet etc. but it was sooo much repetition, endless loading screens in 2023 and bad performance even on my RTX 4090.

      I think Starfield has its shortcomings, as I will address in my next video, but I think it's important to acknowledge the stuff it does right. One of those is that planets and locations can be interesting sometimes. Not 100% of the time, but if I'm in the right mood, I can find myself appreciating the beauty of an "empty" planet.

      @@PretzelYT I can enjoy an empty planet, in universal sandbox because theres no game story. But this game feels like they JUST made it to space. a hundred planets all right next door to the big famous planets and none of them are even scanned....there are moons and planets in the same system as these big populated planets, they have zero scans...I should be able to look the planets up way before I get there to determine if I want to go there or now.
      almost seems like this game was cobled together by modders using fallout/skyrim coding which is why it seems so empty. Empty as meaningless and not fun, I can't even enjoy watching people play this game like I do others.
