In this video I take you behind the scenes on an off camera flash portrait shoot where I create amazing bokeh in seconds using tin foil! This is one of my favourite techniques to create beautiful and dreamy looking bokeh very easily.
I lit the tin foil using two Godox V860III speed lights, each of which had a MagMod gel attached.
All the photographs in this video were taken on my Sony A9II with my Sony 35mm f1.8 lens and Sony 85mm f1.8 lens. I lit Olga the model with the MagBox Pro 42" Octa softbox.
A huge thank you to my friend Neil Ridley for allowing me to use his amazing photography studio in Lancashire, UK for this shoot. If you are interested in hiring the studio (and trust me it is amazing!) then you can contact Neil through his Instagram here: / neilridleystudio
A massive thank you to my friend Toni Darcy for not only organising this portrait shoot but also for filming this video for me! Toni has her own RUclips channel which is fantastic - you can subscribe to Toni here: / @tonidarcy
Finally, a huge thank you to Olga for modelling and being so amazing to work with! Please follow Olga here: / ola_solomakhina

I've been making a living with my camera for over 50 years but just when I thought I'd seen it all, someone comes up with something new. I've used several methods for this kind of look but never this one. I can't wait to try it. Your shots were stunning, thanks.
Thank you so much Alan! That is one of the nicest comments I have received on my channel. I really really appreciate that, thank you 😊
As tempting it is to say this can be done in post, there's nothing as good as doing it organically from the camera. Awesome work :)
That's an interesting filter you're experimenting with, Neil, and the results in tandem with the tin foil are very good. Thank you for this tip! And I hope you invite Olga back for future videos!
Thank you very much! And yes, Olga was amazing to work with so I will definitely look to work with her again 😃
