Just installed iLX-F511 kit in my '22 Tacoma last weekend, and everything seems to be set, and functional. Love the kit. Would recommend it. I noticed the backup camera looks crappier though, Im assuming its got something to do with the new monitor being bigger/having better resolution. Although tough to see on the video, it looks like it doesnt look too hot on Cliff's monitor either. The front camera is noticeably better.
Thanks for the comment! What you're experiencing is limitations of the factory backup camera. We do sell an Alpine backup camera that yields much better video quality then the factory one!
Just a heads up for those that don't want to look at/run the GPS antenna: I mounted mine under the dash, above the head unit. I haven't noticed any issues with signal either. I did this in my last Tacoma with Pioneer nav stereo, also with no issues.
Thanks for your follow-up! This may work for some, but we definitely do not recommend it. We've received calls regarding navigation being wonky due to poor antenna reception when it's not properly mounted.
How come 2022 doesn’t have the 4th harness for backup camera? I’m confused. I bought the f511 for 2022 Tacoma and my factory backup camera doesn’t work? Every else works besides that. Was Left with a extra plug from the truck. It’s a black and white wire harness. Is that wire harness from the truck not needed?
2020+ does not require a separate backup camera harness. It should just work right out of the box. If it doesn't, hit up our support team and we'll be fast to help: trailgridpro.com/pages/contact
Only missing items between the cluster (if you have them) is the navigation directionals and compass. They will just render a blank screen as they are tied to the factory head unit.
Cool, cool. I'll keep my mobile es though much cleaner. By the way, I'm just putting this out there. You guys should offer sound deadening kits pre-cut to fit the tacomas.
I dont think you can. I ran the new mic to the center console. There is a slot inside if you pull the console down between the dome lights. Just make sure you remove the foam pc first before installing the mic.

Honestly, I think it comes down to personal preference. If you're looking for integration for cameras and dash cam - Alpine is definitely the way to go. However, the Sony 9500 is super awesome and we love it!
I have the 2023 trd off road, I didn't loose any of the factor cam settings. Still have the birds eye view when parking. I just wish there was a way to bypass the factory settings at times and have a full screen when reversing.
Great question! Alpine just released an Over-The-Air Firmware Update that adds that camera support. If you need any help with how to perform this update feel free to reach out to us at support@trailgridpro.com!
My Alpine bundle just arrived today for 2017 JBL amplified Taco. How come my front out RCA's are not connected like in the tabletop example (all 6 RCA unconnected)? I did get the grey and white RCA's as the one in video which you connected to front out RCA but where do I plug other end of the grey and white RCA's to? I went ahead and installed. Everything seems to be working. Also ordered the kicker amp bundle so those will eventually be connected to all 6 RCA's from the Alpine bundle.
We've made improvements to the kit since we released it a little over a year ago! Your bundle arrived correctly to perform optimally! You'll only need the RCA's when you get an aftermarket amp!
Thanks for commenting! That is not covered in this video, but you'll want to run RCA from the back of the radio to the amp, then connect the remote turn on wire found near the main vehicle plugs on the radio harness.
I just did mines today..use the rca’s that come with the head unit to send a signal into the aftermarket amp. Next you can either cut ONLY the speaker wires on the alpine harness and connect those to some 9 wire running to the amp speaker outputs. Or you can buy a male & female set of Toyota Metra harness and use the speaker wires off that so you don’t have to cut into the alpine harness.
Thanks for the video! I’m a bit confused though. You still have to have a cable to run Apple CarPlay? Or is it wireless( automatically connects to your phone). Apologies if I missed it
This is an age old debate amongst our staff! Cliff loves his Alpine, and Bryan is a Sony fan! This mostly comes down to brand loyalty and personal preference!
The integration of the dash cam, meaning being able to view it within the head unit, can only be achieved by pairing it with the Alpine Dash Cam and Alpine Head Unit.
does this come with the wiring for dash camera even if I don't order a bundle? I want an Alpine head unit but want to hold off on the dash camera for the time being. Might want one down the line.
I have 2020 tacoma SR. about gps antenna mentioned. Do i need to buy that to run it to the unit as mentioned in the video? Or is it included in the kit?

Thanks for commenting! We haven't tested these kits in Rav4's just yet! The wiring may be similar but the Rav4 will need a different dash kit for sure.
