Man, when vice grip garage first hit the tube, I binged watched almost every video. Now I find myself binge watching Pole Barn Garage and waiting daily for new uploads. Top 3 channels on RUclips. 👍
The Torino is super cool man! Everything about the wide tires in the back skinny up front and air shocks screams the 70’s white lettering out!!! Badass!!
Thanks for ur video's I enjoy all of them I miss fixing vehicle's I broke my back and was forced to retire but ur video's are intriguing and all ur video's are funny thanks again
I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. You struggle with these repairs just like I do. I have to work on the floor and get filthy just like you. Thanks for keeping it real.
Well, if you're gonna go visit Kevin, just have him help with the rear brakes, I think he enjoys doing them, and doing drum brakes on a lift is the bonus
Nice to see you getting something to work on that cooperates with you. It's the difference between contemplating life 5 hours into a 1 hour job, and enjoying the project. Lookin good 👍
Very happy you got that car you have chased after and seeing you put work into it with such enthusiasm is so heart warming. Always enjoyed your content, keep it up and thanks for showing everyone it's important to get it working, not perfect. Helps having more real cars on the road instead in storage with no outlook of getting back on the road.
You're awesome!! You're my hero for getting your kid with you in the garage so often, great job!!. Your show is just as good as early Vice Grip , before derek got rich, and transformed into Ian Johnson.
Nice car, it's coming along good. Great to see you and JD working on a father son project together. It's good to see you explaining things to him so he knows how things work. Keep up the great content.
I guess I'm a little late to this party but I just had to share with you my love for 1973 Gran Torino Sports. When I was 17, I took over my mom's Ivy Green 73 Gran Torino Sport. It was a sportroof with bench seats and a 351W with FMX transmission. I later traded that in on the Mercury equivalent, a White 1973 Mercury Montego GT with 351W, FMX and bucket seats with consol. A few years later, I bought a slightly wrecked yellow 1973 Gran Torino Sport. This car had a 351 Cobra Jet and 4 speed transmission. That car was wicked fast and sounded so good. I often think about how rare that Montego GT was. I mean you just don't ever see them.
Good job, Dalton. The car's looking great. Those '72-'73 fastback Torino's sure are a good-looking body style. You plop that 460 in there with a mild split-duration cam, early-style timing set and some headers, and the 'ol Torino's performance will increase substantially over that 400. Keep up the great work, man! --Bruce
Based on my experince in dealing with 72-73 Gran Torinos, the 429/460's do nothing but overweigh the front ends of our cars. A properly winding 351 Cleveland will leave one of these cars way more balanced. The only good use for a 385 series 429/460 would be if you really want a big block to go drag racing.
As a '73 Gran Torino Sport was my first car, I love what you're doing with this beast. I can't wait to see what you do next. Thanks and keep up the great content.
I had that 73 when I was young. I'm 60 now and wish I had it back. Great job on yours. You and your son are awesome team. Thanks for reminding me that was my favorite car ever.
I learned that shock trick for the fronts years ago. If I’m not reusing the shock I always just do as you did, bend it back and forth till it snaps the top of the shock off. Works like a charm everytime and relieves much desire to repeat a work that rhymes with Truck ……. Lololol
You and JYD are by far my favorite content creators on RUclips. Both of you guys are motivating me to start working on my '71 Impala! Thank you for all the great videos!
I am happy for you guys that you got that ride. I had a triple pack of 72's in the neighborhood and the people who had them loved them and the first one was a 351C with a four speed. The second one was a 351C with a built C4 transmission, and the third was the well to do middle class family that helped the boy out some and he had a built up 351C that had a built C6 with a 2500 stall converter and a very stout shift kit in it and boy did it run. It was a hard shifting car just putting around town it would shift into 2nd and chirp everytime. Going down to the highway or bypass it would chirp 3rd everytime. Beautiful color it was a forest green color and I don't know if it was a Ford color, but it was a pretty color and had the white stripes down the middle of the hood and the trunk lid. Memories of a time when you didn't wait for anything for days it was in stock everywhere.
Reminds me so much of my father working on his cars. Also I love the crickets in the background. One of my top RUclips channels. Thanks for your hard work from all us shade tree mechanics.
The best part of any Pole Barn Garage video is the background noise from the critters. Reminds me of my childhood hanging in the Ozarks at my Grandparents farm.
Your Torino is looking great Dalton! I went with aluminum slots on my 76 and 235/70-15 on all 4 corners. I'll be doing good shocks pretty soon too to reduce that hefty corner lean!
I just have to give you an Atta Boy!! I had it's sister back in 79. Bought it cheap with a milked out 351 Windsor that blew up. Dropped a 302 in it and Yadda Yadda Yadda I miss the good old days!
I was never a Ford fan, or really even knew much of anything about a Torino. I knew the Mustang obviously, Cobras. I've always been a Chevy person. But now, you actually have Gran Torinos on my radar. I can see the appeal and appreciate them now. I'm looking forward to seeing how this project turns out for you!
This car brings back memories... My dad had the same car, '73 Gran Torino sport 429 Thunder Jet. I always loved that car and wish he saved it for me, I'd still be driving it lol
This same car in red was my first car in 82. I would frequently visit an air pump, because our resident state trooper loved to pull me over and measure my rear bumper. My rear end was constantly going up and down like a seesaw.
@18:17 that chrome 12 point socket that rounded out, isn't made for impact usage that's why it rounded out. I worked for craftsman for years, we were trained on everything we made and sold over and over and over again every year we had dumba$$ training on the same things... And honestly that's personal knowledge of the tools hands on for 30 plus years now. If you notice the cheapest sets of black impact sockets are all 6 point it's for that exact reason so they don't rounded out the socket or bolt/nut..
Yes, however I've used that craftsman socket on impacts and everything else for the last 15 years, and it was a hand me down then lol. I think it's a simple case of "got my money out of it"
This video showed me what I have to look forward too. I have a crusty 80's Mercury wagon that my family's kept, due to it being my Dad's daily driver. Unfortunately it started having issues 2 years ago and the mechanic couldn't figure them out, so my Dad bought a new to him car. I've been working on it on weekends, knew it had spark and air, so after the work I did to the fuel system (regulator/filter) I've deduced in my infinite wisdom.. It's the pump.... yay..
Old-timer showed me when putting new tires on set the bead and then let all air out again and inflate again he hardly ever had to add weight to get them to balance keep up great work and have great day.
Dalton, being a Mopar dude i still go back to my childhood and model cars, muscle cars in general and that really is a fine Torino and i love it, i work in Montgomery AL, and theres one i pass regularly thats red and white, not a starsky and not restored but awesome and i like the blue on yours better but just seeing those hot rods on the road is freaking great... I just love it 👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅✅
I thrive on mediocre entertainment... I've been married to the same gal so long I don't even look both ways before crossing the street... your videos keep me going! Tada!
Its great to see a true car guy enjoying his ( attainable) dream car. Kev. That was very nice of you to sell it to Dalton. You do practice what you preach. Dalton, keep up the great work and thanks for the great content and the every mans/women's builds. Your builds ring true for all of us i think. Thanks again, from an appreciative Candian fan. Tim.
This is such a threat to watch. Your car is just awesome. Driving these everyday is so much fun. I also love the blue interior. Blue on blue is the bomb. It must bring so much visual life while driving it. Mine is ginger inside. Congratulations and can’t wait for part 3 ❤️
The item on the top of the 72-73 tank is the vent for the tank. It ties into the evap line on the passenger side of the frame to connect to the charcoal canister mounted in the bottom right side of the engine bay.
My Dad had a 72 Torino Sport. Same color blue, laser stripes, magnum 500 wheels. Main difference was bench seat and column shift. Loved that car! Would love to have one again. For now, I will live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for sharing your beautiful car with us.
I just replaced the entire brake system on my 1956 Plymouth. I didn't know about crush washers... there weren't any when I took it apart... but it's weeping at every straight thread fitting. Thanks for the reminder. Now I know what's wrong... 4 crush washers, and I should be able to stop scratching my head.
JD is the best shop assistant on youtube. Just sayin, he gets yelled at on camera less than any assistant on the tube. Thanks pbg!! And JD!!! For setting the example for all of our kiddos!!!
There is nothing like a Torino. I ran the scale at a junkyard for a few years, and I bought an all original 302 '71 Torino with 53K original miles that literally came out of a barn around 2015. I paid $200 for it. The person I bought it from said the previous owner parked it because she didn't like driving it. Her sons got it after she passed, but they didn't care about it. I don't know how long it had been sitting, but it had about an inch of dust on it, so I'm guessing it sat for a couple of decades. Beyond the dust, it was in near perfect condition. It was a blast to work on it, and I managed to get it running again. I miss that job, and I wish I could have kept the car for myself, but I couldn't.
I had a 72 Torino fastback this is making me want another one! You're a lucky guy to have found this 73 enjoy it. I would swap out the water pump and radiator if they haven't been changed and get some rust encapsulator for any rust you got going on to preserve the factory metal. All the Best to you!
Dalton you got me hooked here man I've been watching episodes back-to-back to back for a while now you're doing good stuff your whole family I think that's awesome
Cleaned lots of rusted tanks with white vinegar with a couple handfuls of bolts thrown in, fill the tank 3/4 full with vinegar give it a good shaking let it sit for about a day. Give it a good rinse, use some baking soda to neutralize then give another good rinsing. Cleaned a many Honda 3-wheeler tanks that way came out damn near new looking
There are few channels I watch religiously, Vicegrip, Junkyard Digs, Rainman Rays, NNKW, LTT and you. As an aussie, it is good to see the muscle cars of the US. keep up the good work mate.
I am so happy that I found your videos. I cannot find any 73 grand Torino sport videos on RUclips. Unfortunately I just got my dad‘s 73 grand Torino sport and it needs some work and I’m glad I found your videos.
Love the car and to see more content about it. Perhaps a new road trip with JD 😉? Love to see you are still on it and did not loose your basics - that's all a great channel is about!
So glad that I was guided here from Junkyard Digs. Started with the AMC videos, and I have been watching ever since. Every auto channel has something to offer, but out of all of the ones I watch, you just keep it down to earth for the rest of us. Thank you for that!
That center link bushing put in will make your car drive like 'another' million. Love them High Jacker Air Shocks. Best Technique to removing front shocks, Just went in my technique from now on.
When I was a kid in northern suburbs of Detroit a girl that lived around the block from me had that exact car. 351C C6 9 inch it was mint . I was raised a Chevy guy but I always loved that car.
You know what the best part of this car was? The backseat at the drive in. Seriously. You and your girl would hunker down, and the fender rise and the roof line would hide you grotto like back there. I loved my 73 Sport. It's the one I really should have kept. Nice to see you taking care of another.
I had a 73 baby/sky blue Grand Torino Sport with the dark blue stripe fade to some other lighter blue color back in the early 80's. It had the 400 M engine but it had a bench seat and colum shifter. I had duals put on and painted the colum shifter black and add a set of Monty Carlo swivel buckets. I also added an addco rear sway bar (which made a tremendous difference) and a homemade air dam I attached under the front bumper. The wheels were the original ones like the ones you put just put on your Torino. I'm sure I added a tach to the steering colum too. I just wish I had been able to add a four barrel carb and intake to it. For a big car it was a lot of fun to drive. Keep up the good work.👍 God Bless John 3:16
Man, when vice grip garage first hit the tube, I binged watched almost every video. Now I find myself binge watching Pole Barn Garage and waiting daily for new uploads. Top 3 channels on RUclips. 👍

You got me hustling on my projects and to quit overthinking it, or worse waiting for perfection. Way to go!
That's great news man
Exactly the same here ! I didn't realise how easy it is to rebuild a rusty frame
Perfect is the enemy of good...
This is perfection
What year is your vette? Do you have any videos with that car? I have an ‘81.
Great to see JD helping and learning. Great content, down to earth. As a fellow Missourian it makes me smile. I am 76 but young at heart.
Always love the JD ride alongs. And he's a great camera man
Best one I know
Brand New drums look good that's exactly how you want to do it @Pole Barn Garage
The new wheels look great, and that repainted trunk badge is awesome!
I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. You struggle with these repairs just like I do. I have to work on the floor and get filthy just like you. Thanks for keeping it real.
You are destined for greatness, my friend, and I'm happy that I've gotten to watch it from the you tube beginning. Props to you and the boy!
Thanks so much!
you've got the perfect sidekick good job

Awesome to see a father and son working, learning and having fun over cars. Warms the heart. ❤

Yeah it's crazy the difference a decent car makes
Watching JD help you bleed the brakes puts me right back to my childhood pumping the pedal for my dad…I’m in my 40s now love the nostalgia
I’m ready for another ride in the Torino now that it’s a luxurious ride!
Around 15 minute mark when you talk about spray painting the new break!!!😂 I enjoy the humor!

You're awesome!! You're my hero for getting your kid with you in the garage so often, great job!!. Your show is just as good as early Vice Grip , before derek got rich, and transformed into Ian Johnson.
I can not stand watching Derek from Vise Grip Garage. He is very immature and tries to act like Red Green.
@@MarkK01 I love red green.
The real red green.
Derek is great, his immaturity is part of the charm. Can’t please everyone I guess.
So there! That's my comment and I'm sticking to it
Dalton this channel is just getting better with every episode! Love the Torino can’t wait to see you take it to its full potential!
Definitely a cool ride! It's cleaning up nicely! Love your pontiac!!!! I have owned my 69 gto 31 yrs!!!!
Love the car and always enjoy when you and junkyard digs get together and crazy things ensue

Nice to see you getting some reward for all The hard work you have put into this channel
I had a 74 Grand Torino Sport, back in the day. Elite series, same color blue, with a white vinyl top. Great to see you having these things going on!
Well Dalton, you've just extended my lunch break 31 minutes 😂
Extended lunches are always good

235 15's are truck tires, as they should have run 215 15's would be a way better tire for your car.

Always look forward to watching. I'm catching up on the old ones. I love the 4x4 van, I want to see more on that hopefully!
That center link bushing put in will make your car drive like 'another' million. Love them High Jacker Air Shocks.
Best Technique to removing front shocks, Just went in my technique from now on.
It's like my 81 chev truck liberally pump gas pedal 1 to 30 times starts right up! Great content !!
On my 74 grand torino I’ve got 265/60 on the rear and 245/60 on the front on tribune 15 rims. That’s is one sweet ride that you have.
Luv that sled .Entertaining as hell
Great era of American automotive history.
Yep that's the car I want , same year , little bit darker blue though !!! Absolutely love it !!!!
Love this dude and rad chill kid sidekick. Comments for them is cash for them, keep ot coming folks!!
Thanks!
Keep up the good work.👍
God Bless
