Best part watching dalton giggle like a teenager that’s out hot rodding his dads car lol! Me personally I think that car is amazing and would love to see more work on it!
You got a steal on that Edelbrock. That engine sounds like it really loves it. I really want to see more content with this car. Clean up the rest of the frame, fix the suspension, and maybe take it out on the drag strip to see how she goes.
I've been waiting to see the car on your channel since you first introduced it, way back when you had like three thousand subs! You described it as the car you would drive to the Gates of Hell in!
Just like the Grand Prix video took me down memory lane, this one does as well. My brother had a 72 Lemans when i was a kid. It was painted "Goddess Gold" and had gold wheels to match. 350/TH 350. It was his pride and joy. Got ass packed by an inattentive driver doing 55mph in an Astro van. Didn't even tap the brakes i remembered hearing. Car sat with the trunk folded into the rear passenger area for years with my brother claiming one day he would revive it. Life got in the way though, he moved on, and the car eventually got parted out and scrapped. Sad end. Your Lemans looks and sounds badass. Enjoy many more years and miles with it!
It's a cool old car . You're right about seeing it going down the road , it's just a cool car to anyone that sees it . Really that's what it is. Would love to see it on the channel again.

Please show us any work you do on this beautiful car it's so nice to see someone else that has put new steel floor boards in with sheet metal screws I just redid my 1974 Caprice Classic Convertible floorboards that way and it turned out beautiful especially after you cover it with new carpeting lol
My dad had a Buick Electra Limited with a 455 in it, and one time he was taking my brother back home from the Dr's office, had the cruise set at 105. When he hit the end of Lanark on the highway, he pressed Resume on the cruise. It remembered the cruise even after power cycles. 35 to 105 in 5 seconds. Sounded a lot like this. Hopefully the vacuum line for the heater core/control set isn't too far buried to reach. Since you seem to venture into Iowa more often than not these days, see if you can find some QA1s that fit the LeMans. P.S. I think we found the reason your trans pan was full of clutch material. It's back there where the smoke was left through that stoplight.
You are one of the last "rescue-n- rebuild" youtube mechanics that doesn't drive a Tesla off camera. Your to modest to flaunt it like that, thats cool.
My first car was also an Anaconda Gold '72 LeMans! Of the luxury LeMans flavor. 350 2bbl. White seats. Got it at 15 too. Put an edelbrock 4bbl on it, a shift kit, and recurved the distributor. Sold it to buy an 04 tahoe. But i already had my '06 GTO at that point. Since then my uncle bought a perfect 72 GTO in your color combo. Your shaker hood and tach are awesome. I never could decide what cool stuff i could do with the LeMans front clip other than do an endura nose swap. Plan to drive my uncles 72 to my 20 year HS reunion next year!
watching you work on this is awesome. I got a 78 datsun in highschool for cheap cause it was similarly shit and ive dolled it up over the last 13 or so years with ever nicer parts, i know the feeling of getting to drive it again after breaking it all too well.
It was great to see you guys working together to replace your transmission 👍 the Lemans certainly seems to boogie down the road pretty well😀 I would like to see some suspension work. Keep up the great work and the great videos 👍✌️🇺🇲
My only complaint is that I only JUST found your channel!! Awesome video all around, man. Wish I still had my high school ride. It was mechanically sound but just rotted to shit. People would get it up on the lift and then words like “death trap” get thrown around lol. It never broke down on me though and if I had adult money back then I would have tried to save it. Happy to be a new subscriber and looking forward to going through all your previous posts to catch up.
Awesome video and what a cool car. It really makes me miss my first car, a 72 Buick Skylark. I did everything to that car. Except body work. Frame was solid but it was 3 different colors, raw bondo just slapped over holes in the body and I'm sure someone before me also did a bunch of hackery to keep it in one piece. Eventually I developed a large crack in the windshield and knew if I pulled it out, there would be nothing left to glue a new one to. Parted the car out and scrapped the shell once I picked up a 67 GS400 in slightly better shape. I sure wish I kept it though after seeing some of the cars you have brought back and kept on the road. Not everything has to be perfect to be enjoyed.
I think it's great that a Dad spends time with his son, teaching him about life and working on old cars. The pride that JD will have knowing that he worked with his dad restoring his '59 and working on other cars.
I'm just sitting here laughing about the fact that I thought you had some really sorted nice and shiny cars in your fleet, but then you were like "don't worry now, it may be shiny but look under here!" and its a disaster. I love it. 🤣 No offense meant, its a super cool car, and really cool that you've had it since you were basically a kid.
I put a ten inch converter of unknown stall in my 350 s10 with a 700r4, it was way too loose and I could not deal with it in daily traffic driving- I pulled it out and went with a 12" 2400 flash stall and it is perfect for my combo. Also Dalton cutting off the self tappers in the trans tunnel :) I mounted my B&M shifter to the floor with self taps (original four cylinder stick shift truck) and over time every thing has flexed and torn the sheet metal, I need to pull the carpet and reinforce everything.
The AC/Heater control does have a vacuum switch connecting to it that opens/closes the vents. Any of those lines could be cracked, or the connection points may be leaking, or the selector switch is leaking. A quick fix assuming you don't care about the vents is to plug off the vacuum line going from the engine to AC/Heat controller.
My coworker back in the 90s had a 72, it was a bit of a beeater. I had to get a ride to work with him one day, he said "just sit on the hood and enjoy the show, I'll be out in a bit"... What? Anyway, I happened to glance across the back yard, his neighbour comes to the window and flips up the blind- and she is buck nekkid. DAAAAAAMN. Waves, yes she waves, and goes about brushing her hair. I carpooled with him for the rest of the summer.
Pontiac made a really nice engine. I've got a Pontiac 400 bored .060 over mated to a TH400 in my 1989 Chevy Caprice wagon. It really woke it up! I'd watch more content of this car for sure.
I like the old Pontiacs. In the day I had a 64 Grand Prix with a stick. A 65 Catalina and a 63 LeMans convertible. Enjoy your stuff dude! Lol. Good to see your son working with you. Dave in San Francisco
The best cars are beaters that pass as non beaters. I ended up with a mortar pan from Harbor Freight after seeing an ad in their weekly while needing a pan to control a roof leak. Man has it come in handy ever since.
Drive it like ya stole it!!! I’ve had many small blocks and a few big blocks..(all of the GM flavour i might add) and i never babied any of them.. left many sets of tires in black lines and never once had to walk home… The harder you drive them the better they serve you…Just keep up the maintenance and beat on it like it owes you money
love the old Pontiacs buddy..Got a '73 GP myself..i'd love to take it down route 66 (someday)..Keep those machines runnin..thanks for the entertainment.
That is a sweet ride. Sounds amazing. Pontiac builds excitement; PBG just makes it much more enjoyable. Definitely show more of the progress on this beast!
I got a driveshaft for my 78 El Camino from southwest Speed when I swapped out the 350 to a 700R4 Fit perfect! I measured it at 59 and 1/2 but all they had was a 59 inch. Glad I got it cause The 59 and 1/2 would be too long!
Also your words about it being "just a car" drive it and enjoy it, were actually pretty helpful. My car is getting repainted soon, and I was fretting about how it is going to look nice, but the mechanical and underbody will still be really scruffy. But now I'm thinking... It still drives well, I still like it, I just want it to be shiny... So who cares!
What a freakin unit! A fella can never go wrong with any 68-72 GM A-Body. This car was the end of the greatest era of automotive styling.

I like the old Pontiacs. In the day I had a 64 Grand Prix with a stick. A 65 Catalina and a 63 LeMans convertible. Enjoy your stuff dude! Lol. Good to see your son working with you. Dave in San Francisco
Thanks!
I had a le Mans when I was a senior in high school. It got 7 miles to the gallon and 5 bucks worth of gas but it got me to school.......... FAST!!! 👍😁
I had a 72 LeMans Endura, with the GTO front bumper (which was mangled). Loved that car. Same color.
The best cars are beaters that pass as non beaters. I ended up with a mortar pan from Harbor Freight after seeing an ad in their weekly while needing a pan to control a roof leak. Man has it come in handy ever since.
Hello Pole from Latvia. Very nice video, I enjoyed watching it. Keep it up, you are doing very well 👍
Love that LeMans content! I miss the 70 LeMans Sport Convertable my Dad had when I was a teenager. I had some good and bad memories in that thing!
Absolutely need to see more
88 jeep wagoner was my first car. The big wood grained type. I wish I still had you. You're lucky to have your high school car.
I love the LeMans and hope to see more of it!
That is a sweet ride. Sounds amazing. Pontiac builds excitement; PBG just makes it much more enjoyable. Definitely show more of the progress on this beast!
That’s a scammer
That 72 Lemans sure looks beautiful brother.
Thats a bad azz ride! My uncle John used to collect older Pontiac Firebirds.
Nice looking Car. Thoughtful Grandma and Grandpa.
great little car and happy to see you getting to have fun with an old friend group of friends spinning wrenches on stuff and it sounds great too
The smile that just brought to you is what it’s all about man. Love it
I got a driveshaft for my 78 El Camino from southwest Speed when I swapped out the 350 to a 700R4 Fit perfect! I measured it at 59 and 1/2 but all they had was a 59 inch. Glad I got it cause The 59 and 1/2 would be too long!
I love watching your son and you working together how else do you learn working with dad ❤❤
I bought an identical GT in 1978 for $1400. 350 Pontiac, 3 speed on the floor. I drove it 10 years and three clutches. The one car I miss.
Ain't nobody looking at the bottom of it. It's not a matchbox lol
@@PoleBarnGarage What if I roll it on the way into a meet!
