Dude! Opel GT sighting! The first car I purchased with my own money was a 1970 Opel GT. I loved that car. The guy I sold it to completely restored it and showed it until he got too old. Now his grandson has it.
Right when I saw that I thought "oooo, a farm truck! It's gotta have a slant six" and you did not disappoint. No farm truck is complete without 6 in a row. I put a 300 in my 73 highboy about 6 months ago for farm nonsense. Mostly sliding sideways into ditches and backing into everything.
It's so cool to find another channel like Derek's. I once did a rebuild of an old '60 bread truck that didn't have an engine but came with 3 junk inline Chevy 6's that were in the field next to it. I took them all apart and selected the best parts from all.I had no money but lots of tools and cut my own gaskets, had to buy a head gasket, cleaned all parts before reassembling.Static timed it and got a friend to help me lift it back in to the thing sort of ox yoke style around our shoulders. Mike Williams helped me lift it in. And I finished hooking it up.I had confidence in it and another friend,Mike Bakey, also thought it would start up and run.It did. This was back in the 80's before everyone could make a video of it.I think it would have made a good one.Bill Conwell. I did this in Wilton, California.😂❤
I had dodge pickups from 72 to 78 about a half dozen of them. Worked on them in the army. They held no mystery for me. Easy to repair. Took a 75 318 put in a 400 from a fire job. Trans too. 3 holes in the k frame 1 for slant 6 1for small block 1 for big block . Trans mount and drive shaft worked just by using the right holes. Dodge parts interchangeability is amazing
I admire your tenacity to look at another mopar so soon. I get the grandpa thing, mine had an Olds diesel as the church car. I probably am dumb enough to try to tackle an Olds diesel. It's a sickness
I'm about 7 mins in and just Wana say that the plastic tanks get bridle and stress Crack from clamps after sitting. Dont out too much fuel in it will Crack more leak out. I bought a fuel cell off ebay and soft line for like 150 on ebay boom fixed it
Some of the best work is done in the dark 😎. It's not fun unless you're laying in the dirt or on 3/4"" blue stone. Not to mention how much fun it is finding that screw you dropped that is vital to getting it up and running again!🤣🤣 Ahh, the good ol days. Makes me almost not want to use the garage, 🤣😂 Looking forward to the next video! Thanks for keeping it real.
You are one determined gentleman. When I saw the truck at the start, I assumed that you were kidding and that you were there to collect something else. I was soon shown I was wrong. I cannot get over what you have done and to get it running already. I have the next video of this ready and waiting to watch. Neil :-)
Your Methods are just unbelievable. It’s a runner. The slant 6 and Ford and Chevy 6’s are almost indestructible. Maybe not with a sledgehammer under the hood. Got to say never saw that before. Just love your videos. This needs to be a quick flip. Unless your going to put new floors in it. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays to you and JD !
I had a 76 state truck with a 318 in it. It run well but had now brake light or lights period! No insurance wrong tag but I just send it. Till I got pulled from a NC state man coming from Lake Lure after a gig up there. So I drank way more cold snacks. Some how I got off from a ticket or being put in jail. I got rid of it right quick!!
"If I were an oil filter adapter, where would I be?" On the truck that someone took it to use on because he needed it more than the dead slant 6 stripped down in a field. : ) JK, I'm sure it's there.. what a sweet find Dalton, (I realize this is an older video, but nothing gets you up the ladder better than people watching your older stuff!) Even though the passenger side floor is.. well.. nonexistent, that's nothing a stop sign can't fix!!
The amount of troubleshooting you had to do to get this engine to run, I would have gave up after like 30 minutes, but you’re obviously more versatile about the electrical systems and diagnosing how to get an old engine running again than me .
My dad had a dodge same color as that 4x4 , with a plow , 318 under the hood , he had it for 30 yrs , 2 engines , same trains , seeing this brings back a lot of memories him and I had in that old truck ,,,he has been gone for 12 yrs now .
I was thinking that one clean Dodge truck untouched I should of none the floor board was going to be gone it's prety common on this year dodge to rust out. I would say 90 percent of the all Dodge's IV ever try to fire up have ran and moved with out a hole lot of work needed but needed a good amount to work to run good Iv got a 76 dodge 4x4 power wagon look basically the same . I no it not easy to find parts besides the drive train stuff for it glad to see it's being fired up and not crushed no car or Mopar👍👌✌️💯🍻⚒️
28:01 your grandma is right blow through the gas hose and it will create high pressure in the tank and it will start pouring out of the hose. keep it as low as you can especially below the tank if you can and use gravity yo help speed it up. hope this helps dalton!
Favorite vehicle you've had so far. Dad had a 75 powerwagon, I've had a 75/76 bicentennial tribute truck with a 225/3 on the tree, a 74 with a 318, and a 78 with a 360! Don't get rid of this!!!!
Well she is a runner. Leaning tower of power. Call it the Kidster . Haha 😅. Great save. Can't wait to see the fallow up. Keep up the great work and I will keep on watching
I have a 96 F250 4x2 in pristine condition with 136k on the clock, it's got the 6 in a row ready to tow 4.9 in it. The 6s are the best truck engine they put in any car or truck. The drive train will last longer than any man will ever live as long as the oil, tranny fluid and antifreeze are changed very regularly. I use mobil110w30 and mobil1 filter, just a personal preference. If that little 225 is in halfass shape you have a diamond in the ruff. I enjoy your vids alot while i'm hard at work in my shop repairing some of the most God awlful issues any car or truck could have. I'm the guy in my area that people bring their stuff to when NOBODY else can seem to repair it, and i do the repairs come hell or high water, i never let one get the best of me yet.
One hell of an effort buddy for what you had to work with.. I can't wait to see what you do with it and get her driving.. great job. Love all your videos dude. Have a Merry Christmas to you and your whole family..
Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard when you were showing the passenger side floorpan, placing your hand through stating," I don't know what the problem is" so friggin hilarious!
30:46 insread of sucking gas out of the hose you can bring the hose lower than the tank fluid level and blow into the hose and it will create high pressure in the tank and force the gas to flow out of the hose.
Could remove the squeeze bulb from the turkey baster, jam it into the fuel hose, then use the turkey baster as a makeshift sight glass while using the old school mouth suction method to avoid partaking in sampling some octane mouthwash. But if a person wants to go high society type fancy, perhaps a mason jar with two hoses poked through the lid so that the fuel dumps into the mason jar instead of the alcohol intake port while sucking the fuel line.
My landlord had a half ton long bed for sale, didn't know it was a rare factory 440 with air, a friend bought it and sold it to a collector in Nevada, it was automatic 2wd in black, 79 I think!
That truck was only 11 years old when left to rot. That’s a shame. You and Chad have the most realistic channels on youtube. Others that have new parts fall from the sky during a revival just aren’t worth watching.
Hope to see more on this truck. I had a 73 w/318 and my Dad had a 74 with the slant six, both were long beds (only way to go). In my 73 the tank was behind the seat.
I love your persistence! If it weren’t for a few small things that were out of your control, it would have purred like a kitten! That would have silenced all the naysayers!
What a coincidence, I just locked in a deal on a 78 w150 short bed step side with an la360 727 np203 full time tcase. The patch panels for the cab floor/rockers/mounts/cab cornrs are readily available and aren't expensive either. Safety 3rd!
Dude the roll bar is sick. I have never ever had any good luck with the dodge trucks. They never run or survive with me!!! Had a few never again they just seamed to suck! The little red stepside is cool
I had a 78 d100 custom with the 318 sometimes it sounded like your slant 6 there... not sure what was custom about it but you could have passed a case of beer through the drivers side floor pan... kinda like your passenger side.
I can’t tell how long I’ve been crying laughing as he calmly staring (what is crawling up my ass twice with a cigarette in his mouth. Jesus Christ that’s hysterical!!

Don’t be afraid to knock on a door or something… there’s a jeep J10 pickup not far from here with what looks like a nice body (!!¡!!) hasn’t moved in at least 5 years. I know of an old 60’s t bird )the ugly years) all kinds of crap. All they can do is say no. I’ve picked up 4 or 5 projects this way.
Brakes are hung up, engine doesn't run but this maniac proceeds to bleed the brakes! That's confidence right there ladies!
hoses rotted on inside
At least there’s no flexy hoses on the rad. Puddin’ wouldn’t know what to do. 🤷🏼♂️🫣

But yeah, it’s a Mopar, of course it’ll run.
