Elgato is going to get so many returns. I think the X is better than the Pro. I want to pass thorugh 4k 144 HDR and capture 4k 60 to stream to youtube. The Pro doesn't seem able to do this. Unless im mistaken... Does a tile have to be green or blue? It seems an 8k hdr passthrough needs to be had to capture 4k 60... I just want 4k hdr 144 to 4k 60.

@@gster109 HDMI 2.1 has an absolute maximum of 48Gbps, but different HDMI 2.1 devices have maximums that can be lower than this. For example, PS5 outputs a maximum of 32Gbps over its HDMI 2.1 port. 4K X/4K Pro accepts/passes through max 40gbps.

4K Pro can passthrough 4K120 HDR and capture that at 1080p120 HDR (or tonemapped SDR). If you are looking for 4K120 HDR passthrough and 4K120 SDR capture then take a look at Elgato 4K X.

Can someone explain something to me? I have an AMD 7900 XT, which I find to be a pretty good card for gaming. However, when I bought it, I didn't think about streaming. I later discovered that AMD card encoders are not that good for streaming, at least until now, compared to NVIDIA cards. My question is: if I buy the Elgato 4K Pro, will my streams have better quality, or will the Elgato 4K Pro still use the encoder from the AMD card anyway?
it will work with Pcie Gen 3 x 4, pcie is backwards compatible, but I'm not sure it will work on a PCIe 3.0 x2 (most likely not) even though it has the same bandwidth as pcie 2.0 x 4

it still uses the pcie2.0 link. even if it is a X4 link, its just a tradeoff compared to their USB capture card equivalent. at least the passthrough is better
I have a pro 4k and I’m not happy. I been dealing with Elgato support and it will not do a clear 240 pass through at 1440p. If I do any other HZ other than 240 it will be clear. Going to return the 4k pro and just install my 4k60 mk.2 Great cards but the 4k pro is not it.

Cloning your main display is not necessary for minimizing latency. You may need to duplicate/clone your main display to 4K Pro if your display had no free HDMI 2.1 ports. Otherwise, using 4K Pro's passthrough with your monitor's HDMI 2.1 ports will be lag-free and support the full 4K240, 1440p240, and 1080p240 options provided by 4K Pro.
One using 4k/240 monitor and streaming on twitch lets say and recording also on the same pc, will it be better to do a monitor clone to the capture card or passthrough? Cause with the passthrough i can only get 1080/240 signal on the streaming pc if i understand correctly. On the other hand the 4KX can give 4k/144hz on the streaming pc. Right?

@SirioAstarot I think you could an HDMI to USB-C display port cable, but it sounds like the HD60X might be better for your needs. This one goes inside of one computer and receives an hdmi signal for another source. Capture cards like the HD60 or Cam Link use USB interface to receive hdmi signal.

How do I enable HDR in OBS? To Enable Support for HDR Within OBS. First, navigate to File / Setting / Advanced and set the Colour Format option to P010, Color Space to Rec. 2100 (PQ) and Color Range to Full. Click apply once done. Find profile then select main10, not main. If your doing a PC game check for color and check rec.2100 PQ

Sounds like we have the solution for you with 4K X which can passthrough up to 4K144 HDR and capture up to 4K144 in SDR. Take a look!

Cleaner setup and if you don't have a 3.2usb c then you'd have much slower data transfer on the X (which limits recording output)

Not with 4K Pro - You can passthrough 4K120/4K144 and capture 4K120/4K144 in SDR with 4K X.

Use a goxlr mini and stick 2 aux cables into it and then into the back of your pc in the audio inputs (in and out) ... no lag
