      Street Fighter 6 is the arguably the greatest fighting game ever created. Street Fighter 5 is incredibly dated and looks horrible compared to Street Fighter 4.
      I hope Street Fighter 6 changes are just enhancements and they don't do all that nerfing BS. Constant Buffs/nerfs, then more nerfs, the slight buffs only to go back to nerfs again and catering to the whims and whining of the incel reddit FGC elitist army is what killed Killer Instinct 2013 with late season 2, season 3 changes.

    Vanilla SFV being better than SF6 has to be a joke. The first couple years of SFV pretty much split and killed the FGC to a degree. The hype around the launch was massive only for it to crash and burn. There is a reason a lot of older SF pros coming back to SFVI. One thing i appreciate about sf5 was the existence of a characrer select screen. Its stupid how almost every fighting game now wants you to get off the vs cabinet, preselect your character, or even worse, go into your profile and change your "main", then queue back up. It makes it difficult to just sit down with a group of friends and play fighting games with whichever characters you wanna jump between.

    • @BronzeAgePepper
      @BronzeAgePepper 7 месяцев назад

      only SF6's offline modes gives you that classic character select screen experience that's integral to the entire genre. they tried making Battle Hub feel like an arcade-esque social gathering place but left out that crucial aspect.
      although I guess the music that plays during character select is meant to be so inspirational, it's preparing you for the massive pressure that comes when you actually play in an offline tournament. maybe they're taking it a little too seriously if that's the case.

      I know that was a facetious and sarcastically humorous comment, but SF6 is the most "real" SF has been in a long time. It's fresh, innovative and dynamic while also still being SF at its core. Some of us judge each game based on its merits and how well it clicks, and 6 is stellar.

Having played SF6 for the last 5 months, it just clicked and I feel like a SF player again and I'll likely stick with it til the end. I'm actually excited for new characters. I know I can take their moveset and apply it to the core mechanics of SF6 which I actually find to be fun. This is absolutely the best Street Fighter released in a long time.

    • @yourdagan
      @yourdagan 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ryo-kai8587I do think SF6 is a better game than 3rd Strike at this point. The mechanical depth built-in obviously exceeds, and the system has been so well-composed that it doesn't feel like a jarring mishmash. And it increased game-speed and pacing to a modern degree via these mechanics---no more whiffing normals on purpose, no more seconds upon seconds of standing in place doing nothing, etc.
      Of course this is to say nothing about the aesthetic differences. But as a game to play against other people, SF6 has just taken it to a whole 'nother level. It's a serious conversation to be had about it surpassing 3rd Strike.

      Two things slightly adjacent to your comment: ranked is too bunched up because of the points allocation. So many wildly different skills are in platinum. So all the niggles will be amplified, as you say. Many people play SF without a drive for constant improvement, they are happy playing games with people of a similar skill where games are close but they still get to do things. If they don't realise the problem is the points system, they'll start pointing to game mechanics they feel are unfair. Having said this, I do think SF6 has too much going on for many players, which is crazy when the team seem to be so desperate at making the game accessible. The higher the mental stack, the more frustrating failure becomes (because it requires more of you than you have) and the less people want to play. This has always been the real difficulty in expanding the genre, and SF6 makes it worse in many ways. When it comes to accessibility, it tries to fix the wrong things.

    From a guy that comes from mostly anime fighting games like, GGST, Under Night and so on:
    I've always wanted to try a street fighter and got into it with 6 for the estatics, the only real "problem" i had with the game was for a learning type of issue because it was a very new tipe of commands for me, 6 buttons, the "Drive" stuffs and more of a footies central game, but stuff like the "Throw Loops" is something that i really like for the game because it makes a part of the moveset integral to the fight, most of the time in the other games i mentioned the throws was something that you kinda forget about, unless you fight a grappler, until it happens and absolutely KILLS the momentum of the fight, i usually refear to it as a Cockblock kind of situation.
    The fact that i need to pay attention to this, to that, meter, grab, DI, DP, so on and so forth it makes for an exiting fight in my opinion. These sort of reaction times are really fun to pick up after mathces and matches, and when in that fight, after losing so much before from "random DIs" of Throw loops, or those DP that blocks your frame traps compleately, you successfully read the opponent and counter those options in the right way... Man, you feel really fucking good about that...
    But what do i know? I'm just a plat player, maybe it's more unfair the more you climb? Could be, but i'm having the time of my life right now in this game!
    Sorry for the poem, just wanted to share my opinion ^^"

Now with more options, agility, cool new mechanics, and approachability, players like yourself can get into it and discover how great a more "grounded" footsies-based game can feel. People can like what they want, but there's just some objective things that SF6 has that makes it run laps around vanilla SF5. 6 has better netcode and single player than 5 and the Drive system leads to way more interesting things than the V System (especially before they added more V-Triggers and stuff later on).
    We can argue about which has the better launch roster and the overall presentation (I personally think 4 and 5 look ugly and 6 is a huge improvement), and yeah sure 5 pumped out costumes way faster than 6 has but...that's about all it had going for it. If COSTUMES is the hill you're gonna die on, I think that just shows how lacking 5 was overall. Regardless, VERY interested to see where 6 will be even a year from now, let alone at the end of it's life. With 5 it felt like there was nowhere to go but up from rock bottom, but 6 has so much momentum that if they ride it correctly it could lead to a new golden age for Capcom fighters (maybe).

    As someone who kind of enjoys SFV and even prefers SFV's launch roster over SF6's, SF6 has the better vanilla version. Even outside of the content argument, I feel like SF6 has multiple "fun" characters and every character has multiple ways you can play them. In SFV, I felt like if you didn't vibe with a character's specific gameplan then you can't really enjoy playing them. Most characters that I didn't enjoy were just felt "okay" to play as. The only fun character I had in SFV was R. Mika.

      For reference, here are the rosters at launch:
      -Both games: Cammy, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Ken, Ryu, Zangief.
      -Only in SFV: Birdie, FANG, Karin, Laura, Bison(Dictator), Nash, Necalli, Mika, Vega(Claw), Rashid.
      -Only in SF6: Guile, Honda, Blanka, DeeJay, Juri, Lily, JP, Marisa, Manon, Kimberly, Jamie, Luke.

      @@MiguelAnton1994 Sorry to be picky but, I feel like your list shouldn't include DLC at all. Unless you consider the first year to still be the "Launch". But then, you should also include the all of first season DLC characters from both games. Then, the numbers could be completely even, at 22 and 22.

    Vanilla SF5 was the second least fun experience I’ve ever had with a SF game next to Capcome Fighting Jam.

    Only thing i miss are those V trigger flashy combos , specially from Urien , Menat and Oro but they weren't there in Vanilla

    Slight correction, the DP changes happened mid season 1. They worked traditionally on launch and had their invulnerable frames divided between versions with only EX being full invul on frame 1.

    • @BronzeAgePepper

      I remember the weird change they made, with upper body, low, and throw invincibility applying to the three non-EX button strengths. If I'm not mistaken SF6 simplified it to just upper body invincibility for all non-OD DPs.

    • @DaigosFriend1
      @DaigosFriend1 7 месяцев назад

      @@BronzeAgePepper well that was only for certain characters. The most common convention was Light DP= Throw invul on frame 1-3, Medium DP= Invul to air attacks frame 1-6, Heavy DP= Strike invul frame 3-6, EX= Full invul frames 1-6.

    Honestly the fact that sf6 has those checkmate scenarios is what makes it so much satisfying to play

      It's more that these checkmates are decided by volatile gameplay, and to the competitive scene volatility is a dirty word. That's because "volatile" means "big risk/reward", and competitive play relies on increasing reward while decreasing risk. SF6's systems makes doing exactly that all the more harder, and gives huge rewards for taking decisive actions. If you notice in other fighting games, the damage output for all but the beefiest of grapplers is miniscule, to the point of requiring really long matches. SF6 characters all (well, next to all, looking at you Rashid and AKI), output BIG damage, especially in combos, and thus have big quick playoffs in moment to moment gameplay. That's why the first thing people noticed in SF6 gameplay reveals that had health bars was the chunky damage, and the second thing they noticed once they began to play was how quick the matches were.
      SF6 also has mechanics where you can burn all resources for an even bigger payoff, but balances that with a big risk of having no answer for certain dangerous moves like burnout DI in corner. That risk is what makes the game fun, but that risk is also what makes the game volatile and thus so antithetical to competitive minded players. Well, certain types of competitive players anyway, the kind that feel some type of way about modern being so unfair (yes, it turns down the volatility of the game, but it's also not cheating at playing the game).

    SFV launched and showed the entire Genre how to do just about everything wrong to such a degree it made mediocre launches like T7 look great by comparison and gave all other FGs the excuse of "well its still better then SFV"
    SF6 is the exact opposite. its quality is so overt and so wide spread along with being such a success that its arguably become the gold standard among modern fighting games. good online, good single player content, and good features and mechanics.
    be prepared for every FG to be released in the future to be compared to it for a long time

    Idk why but SFV art style is what kept me coming back to it and why it's my favorite fighting game. Wish they'd release it on Xbox.

    As someone who has played neither it’s interesting to hear the differences it sounds like SF6 is a game I’d really like. I never looked much into it because most things I’d heard about sf5 made me think the series wasn’t for me

      If you haven't already I definitely recommend trying out the demo, I was already very interested in the game pre-release as someone who only ever played SF2, but the demo was what fully convinced me to buy the game
