O yeah, these guys are consummate musicians. They all have been honing their craft for literally decades, and it's plain to see that they practice _a lot._ Bruce Dickinson's vocals are always on-point, Steve Harris's and Dave Murray's guitar playing can elicit chills up the spine of anyone who isn't ready for it, and Nicko McBrain's percussion work never disappoints. As to a suggestion, I recommend Iron Maiden's cover of Hocus Pocus (by Focus lol). The only vocals are done by Nicko 🤣 🤟
Nope in a millions and millions years 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮. my dear Bruce Dickinson is singer since 1980, he didn’t and doesn’t have match in the music world 😊😊😊😊 Don’t try to make a fruit punch kk ? Almost always Bruce sing On high register.
For a singer you totally did not comment on his long notes at the beginning! Bruce had throat surgery I believe for cancer- and he can still sing! The man’s voice is legendary!
Yeah, though he held it for 14 seconds on this one. There's an older live show where he holds it for a full 28 seconds, enough that you can see a "WTF" expression on Harris' face as they kinda skip back in the song to keep things on track, lol. Though he did get 25 seconds at the end of this one, albeit at less of a belt and in a lower tone. Still insanely impressive, especially considering they usually play this one towards the later end of the show, or for an encore. He'd doing this after an hour or more of singing and his usual jumping-around-the-stage cardio workout, lol. I just wish people would react to Bruce's solo stuff. Iron Maiden is great, but a little formulaic (which is a big part of their success)... lots of repetition and a catchy but simple hook makes the music accessible, especially for non-English speakers, one of their big demographics. But his solo stuff really shows off his vocals so much better, and in so many different styles. These reactors don't know what he's really capable of until they've heard the following: Tattooed Millionaire Born in 58 Ballad of Mutt Inertia Omega Taking the Queen The Chemical Wedding Killdevil Hill I'm in a Band with an Italian Drummer 1000 points of light Dracula Shoot all the clowns
Iron Maiden is on the bucket list. Was in Navy away when they did all these tours. The only singer I can think of similar is Jeff Tate (Queensryche) in his prime, Ronnie James Dio, James LaBrie (Dream Theater,) Ray Alder (Fates Warning).
Remember, he's been singing this song since 1982 and still sounds good today. Lost a little range and sustain because he's 64 and had throat cancer but still really, really good. He is also a pilot and was a world class fencer.
Bruce Dickenson has such an incredible voice even now. Right from his early days he was a goddamn force of nature. The drummer is Nicko McBrain and he is exactly as crazy as you'd expect, I love him.
Your reaction to our music is so entertaining. Never been to a opera. But have seen Iron Maiden every tour since they opened up for Judas Priest in 81in Dallas and Atlanta.
The Song is from the 1982 Album : Number of the Beast and Iron Maiden play 2023 at the Wacken Open Air as Headliner , the Song is still in the Liveset and all Member are older than 65 years old , that was the first Song to learn as a Bassplayer and later as singer , today with 55 years old i got the same strong love to Heavy Metal Music - Normal Music for me !
Good of you to comment on the drummer: Nicko McBrain. He's fantastic, and unusual for a "metal" drummer in that he uses a single bass drum & pedal, but does patterns with one foot that many drummers struggle to match with two. Other pro drummers used to watch him backstage, he was so good.
You should react to this song from 1982 and compare the difference! Bruce had long silky hair ( he was so young then ) It's a great live concert video.
Bruce is a legend. One of the things he made a point of when on tour is that he'd rollerblade around while singing in order to keep his vocal control sharp and his energy and stamina up. Which is why he sounds great after so many years. But if you hear him back in the 80's, it's absolutely jaw dropping. As long as I can remember, it was basically considered a tossup for metal singers between Dickenson and Dio. Which I think sums up both of their prowess well.
Thanks for reacting to Iron Maiden! I think they surprise many people who know of them but have never heard them. Maiden isn’t the dark satanic death metal band they might think from their album covers. Maiden’s on stage musical cohesiveness during live shows is something to behold. Dickinson’s mastery of, not only his voice, but the audience is shocking. Seeing Iron Maiden live is isn’t just a viewing event. It’s an active participation in singing, screaming and jumping concert experience. One doesn’t need to like their music to have a good time at their show!
Iron maiden was the band that first got me into metal in the 80's. Think first one was Number of the Beast, along with this song and Run to the Hills among others. Great band. Also the reason I had my first guitar made.
Bruce is singing healthily he had formal classical training which has likely helped him a lot. How much? He got Throat Cancer and because of how much he protected his voice he still sounds good today
I saw them as 15 year old highschool freshman. Bought Iron Maiden peace of mind and ZZ top Eliminator album's for my 15th birthday and played them to vinal dust. Their life shows featuring Eddy where AMAZING! Bands like Rush and Iron Maiden where on a level that set the bar soooooo high for later bands.
I saw them on their 7th Son tour in August of '88 in Charlotte, NC. It was a couple of weeks before my 15th b-day and Killer Dwarfs opened for them It was awesome.
The singer Bruce Dickinson also has an opera background he also flies into their gigs in their 747 they call it efforce one The mascot on all their albums is named Eddie
He doesn't have an opera background, he just has an operatic style of singing. (Also Bruce only flew Ed Force 1 for the one tour, after which it was returned)
You mentioned the drummer, Nicko, 71 years old, suffered a stroke in January of 2023 which left him partially paralized. Through physical therapy he was able to back to about 70% when they went back on the road in early summer of 2023. He has continued to get better. Nicko is a great drummer. As for Iron Maiden, seeing them on video is great but actually seeing them live is amazing. The music, the lights, the pyro, Eddie the mascot, the crowd energy etc. And consider this, the song on this video is at the end of a 2 hour, high energy show from 2001. And in 2023, 22 years later, they are still putting on great, high energy shows.
My youngest daughter and her husband saw them at 02 London early this year, but she had back stage family passes, she friends with some of the daughters of one of guitarist
Dude's 64 now and still sings like that. I'd say it's a healthy technique. Also if you want to know what a guy, who's been singing his whole life and might never get to sing again sounds like - check out "Empire of the Sky". Last song he recorded before telling his bandmates and getting treatment. Hits very hard when you know this context.
I love Bruce his singing, just like I love Iron Maiden for years now. I recommend everybody to read his book: What does this button do? Also able on RUclips spoken by Bruce himself. Bruce is living such a special life! Would be great to sit with him in a bar listen to all the stories and drink some trooper beer!
They are masters of their trade & genre and they have many great hits to react too..........Obviously this applies to many others , but Iron Maiden are up there for live shows and over all entertainment....
Modern Renaissance Man. A quality man that hasn't sold out in this lost soul era we're in. The band mates phenomenal .. Nikko's also got the best rock n roll bbq ribs in the world (Coconut Creek Florida).
Bruce's voice is still going strong. I've heard other live performances of this tune, but not this specific video. I've followed them since I was a teenager, they've balways been a band of quality.
He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and recovered. He's still incredible. They were on tour last year. He is a commercial pilot, who flew for a commercial airline and flew their tour plane for years. He also was a winning competitive fencer. He's still involved with that also. You should read his book What Does This Button Do?
Your next Iron Maiden reaction should be The Trooper. Written by bassist and founding-member Steve Harris, the song is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854, which took place during the Crimean War, and inspired by Lord Tennyson's 1854 poem of the same name.
You expected Iron Maiden to have a Broadway sound? Just kidding, I know what you were saying. At the time of this concert Iron Maiden had been together for 25 years, although with some lineup changes along the way. This is why they are so together on stage. And they are STILL performing. Good reaction, good analysis. 🤘 PS You do cool faces.
The band are huge world tourers , they realised many years ago that the costs were huge for this sort of thing so pitched in and bought themselves a 747 , Bruce is a fully qualified airline pilot for large jets , he flies the whole band and crew around the world . The jet is split for the equipment and the crew and band .. Bruce has also represented GB at swordfencing ... He just does stuff , very well ! And the band has in excess of 80 million album sales .. They are fantastic live :)
I really don't think they could actually afford to buy it but they leased it and I think Bruce used to fly them, not sure for how long, he's retired from commercial flying now. I can't believe he had the energy to fly them around though, specially when he's the singer too, which much take lots of energy to prepare (as you can't really have bad day when people pay lot to hear you live) so honestly good he doesn't so it anymore.
he didn't mention polyphs operation in his book but does describe the cancer and treatment. he found it recording book of souls and felt it might be his swan song. but they are on tour now somewhere in time and he is still singing.
On your own, check out the 1982 live 'Beast Over Hammersmith' version of Hallowed Be Thy Name just for a bit of compare and contrast. I believe you'll see how great they were when they were young, but also how well they've held up these many years since, and even some things they've learned between then and now. For a suggestion, I seen you've never reacted to the Swedish band Opeth. They sing in English and as an 'introduction' I'd suggest "Harlequin Forest", specifically the live recording at "Royal Albert Hall". It is an 11 and a half minute long song, but it is worth every second. Actually, at the beginning of the video you'll get to hear from Opeth's vocalist Michael Akerfeldt's (Mikael in Swedish) meeting Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) before the song starts.
Remastered video of the 1982 performance of this song at Hammersmith Odeon dropped a few months ago on the tubes. So, if you wanna know what this song sounded like when it was fresh, and Bruce had big hair, check it out.
the current metal hammer mag has a story on their current tour. steve the bassist atm 67 played a game of football in prague against a local team and scored a goal for his team.
Thank you for reacting to one of my all time favourites! Just returned from Wacken Open Air where the irons were billed as headliners and I can tell you they still keep slaying it! 🤘🏼
Hi Maggie. Nice reaction. 👍🏻 You always wondering how good they are but you need to keep in mind that this formation played since 1981 as a Band hundreds of live concerts. Bruce Dickinson didnt have throat cancer in this time. He get throat cancer in 2014 and this show was recorded in 2001. Bruce Dickinson have a pilot license and he flew for Astraeus, a small British Airline, from 1990 ´till 2011 between their shows and when they didnt have a Tour or a break between the Tour. The Band has it own Boeing 757 but in 2016 this aviation was to small and they switch to a 747-400. The name of this bird is Ed Force One leaned on to his mascot Eddy which you can see on almost every cover on their Album. Meanwhile he turns 65 for about 5 days ago and hasn´t done yet with their shows. For me he was a absolute role model in my youth.
If the vocals would cut out during an Iron Maiden show, no worries, the crowd would continue to sing the vocals. That's how dedicated the Iron Maiden fans are.
It is Christmas time and I have a song from a group that formed the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The group is Savatage, and the singer is Jon Oliva and his brother on guitar Criss Oliva (RIP). An amazing guitarist and vocalist. I would recommend Hall of the Mountain King.
It's interesting what you said about Bruce's throat cancer as a singer. Referencing something happening to your foot if you're a soccer player. That is exactly what happened to Bob Marley (famous reggae singer) He was a avid soccer player. He injured hit foot playing soccer which somehow turned into an infection which turned into gangrene. He died from that.

He like you is a well trained . Also an Olympic fencer.
Check out the 1982 Hammersmith performance it's even better than this one.
Dance of Death, En Vivo..., you might wanna buckle up for that one, put a seatbelt on that chair....., way too exciting....
O yeah, these guys are consummate musicians. These reactors don't know what he's really capable of until they've heard the following:
Tattooed Millionaire
Born in 58
Ballad of Mutt
Inertia
Omega
Taking the Queen
The Chemical Wedding
Killdevil Hill
I'm in a Band with an Italian Drummer
1000 points of light
Dracula
Shoot all the clowns
Iron Maiden is on the bucket list. Was in Navy away when they did all these tours. The only singer I can think of similar is Jeff Tate (Queensryche) in his prime, Ronnie James Dio, James LaBrie (Dream Theater,) Ray Alder (Fates Warning).
Yep. This was after the surgery.
But Rock In Rio was before the Cáncer.
legendary air raid siren
Iron Maiden was, and still is, the best live concert performance and showmanship by heavy metal bands.
I totally agree, I saw them in Phoenix somewhat recently. I hope I get to see them again!
See them soon. Things are starting to look creaky....Im hoping for one more album.
Remember, he's been singing this song since 1982 and still sounds good today. Lost a little range and sustain because he's 64 and had throat cancer but still really, really good. He is also a pilot and was a world class fencer.
They've been playing this since '82. And they've ALWAYS been tight and in sync. Amazing!
I saw them in 1983. First rock concert, didn't know them but, fell in love with them! Nico McBrain is a stellar drummer!
Bruce Dickenson has such an incredible voice even now. Right from his early days he was a goddamn force of nature.
The drummer is Nicko McBrain and he is exactly as crazy as you'd expect, I love him.
This is my favourite song of all time. I swear Bruce can hold a note longer than I can hold my breath ☺️
Your reaction to our music is so entertaining. Never been to a opera. But have seen Iron Maiden every tour since they opened up for Judas Priest in 81in Dallas and Atlanta.

Finally someone is recognizing the drummer
Maggie at 7:30 something.."Is he doing it healty??" He has been singing for nearly five decades so yeah he takes care of his voice ;)
Thx. You Rock 🤘
Love your reactions, they're just ❤️
Good of you to comment on the drummer: Nicko McBrain. He's fantastic, and unusual for a "metal" drummer in that he uses a single bass drum & pedal, but does patterns with one foot that many drummers struggle to match with two. Other pro drummers used to watch him backstage, he was so good.
Ah Santa Fe... Seems so long ago now! Another classic reaction, love it! Great one Maggie!
🤘🤪🤘
I've seen literally hundreds of groups live and they put on a hell of a show I've seen them about five times
The best live version of this song,is in the live concert ''Live After Death'' -1985
He held that note towards the end is amazing!!
I saw them last October. Bruce Dickinson’s voice is still strong.
So their Chicago show - amazing set! Can't wait for the Future Past tour!
Me too in Cbus
I saw them in Chicago with my son....he was 9 at the time
I saw them in June and they were awesome
Got to clear a bucket list item and saw them in Greensboro.
You should react to this song from 1982 and compare the difference! Bruce had long silky hair ( he was so young then ) It's a great live concert video.
oh yes please, do it, hear the Younger Bruce (before cancer) and compare the difference
I second this. It's waaay better!
I was in that concert in 2001. He did it in the end of the 17th song. It's insane.
Bruce is a legend. One of the things he made a point of when on tour is that he'd rollerblade around while singing in order to keep his vocal control sharp and his energy and stamina up. Which is why he sounds great after so many years. But if you hear him back in the 80's, it's absolutely jaw dropping.

I've seen Iron Maiden live about 10 times. They've been incredible every single show. One of the greatest bands of all time.
What I like most about Iron Maiden is how much they appear to enjoy themselves on stage.
With Iron Maiden every song is an adventure, a history lesson or a tale to behold.
Yep. Alexander the great , LIVE, after 38 y was insane! (On The future past tour 2k23)
I saw them live this summer and it was one of my favorite live shows ever! I've been a fan for ~25 years :)
Iron maiden was the band that first got me into metal in the 80's. Think first one was Number of the Beast, along with this song and Run to the Hills among others. Great band. Also the reason I had my first guitar made.

Fun fact this was the encore song done after a full set.
One of my top 5 bands. Thank you for this!!
Santa needs to deliver Maggie Renee an Iron Maiden t-shirt and a copy of guitar hero
Hmmmm I could go for that, Santa! 🤘🤪😀
Dude's 64 now and still sings like that. I'd say it's a healthy technique. This band has been going for nigh on 50 years and this song is 40 years old and still sounds as good as the original. Legends!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This video, I believe, was before Bruce Dickinson had throat cancer. But he still has an amazing range.
All members are quite amazing.
This song is fantastic and Bruce is incredible !!!!
He has been doing this song for over 30 years when this was recorded and thus is after he survived throat cancer.
The Name from the Singer by iron Maiden is Bruce Dickenson and he is defently the Grandfather of Havy Metall
They are masters of their trade & genre and they have many great hits to react too..........Obviously
this applies to many others , but Iron Maiden are up there for live shows and over all entertainment....
I never see any band playing with a fully complete set of drums like Iron Maiden did.
Modern Renaissance Man. A quality man that hasn't sold out in this lost soul era we're in. The band mates phenomenal .. Nikko's also got the best rock n roll bbq ribs in the world (Coconut Creek Florida).
I was blessed enough to see MAIDEN, AT Kemper Arena, in KANSAS CITY, IN 1986.
Bruce takes care of his voice, Iron Maiden started in 1975 !!
Bruce what instrument do you play? The crowd.
🤘🎶🤘
Bruce's voice is still going strong. I've heard other live performances of this tune, but not this specific video. I've followed them since I was a teenager, they've balways been a band of quality.
I went to see them for the first time for my birthday is was buzzing for 2 days
So this is the rock in Rio performance from 2001. Bruce didn't get his cancer diagnosis until 2014 or 2015. Still an amazing performance to watch
They’re still on tour
*MORE* Iron Maiden please 😎
Your next Iron Maiden reaction should be The Trooper. Written by bassist and founding-member Steve Harris, the song is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854, which took place during the Crimean War, and inspired by Lord Tennyson's 1854 poem of the same name.
And Bruce, as your other commenters missed, He is A world Class Fencer. Look and his leg stances when he sings.
An Iron Maiden show is an event.
If you don’t leave the venue soaked in sweat, you’re not doing it right.
Also Bruce is A World Class Fencer! Hence his poses when singing!
still sounds as awesome today as he did back then, and he also beat throat cancer a few years back
The best concert i have ever seen. back in the 80s in Detroit
You expected Iron Maiden to have a Broadway sound? Just kidding, I know what you were saying. I think the better question is 'Can you imagine you running around like that in your 60s?' :D
Bruce is also a pilot they have there own plane called ed force one which he flys when they go on tour.😀
I saw them one month ago and they r still the best live metal band. Pure gold. Up the irons 🔥
The band are huge world tourers , they realised many years ago that the costs were huge for this sort of thing so pitched in and bought themselves a 747 , Bruce is a fully qualified airline pilot for large jets , he flies the whole band and crew around the world . The best thing about Bruce... He's a commercial pilot, the singing is his hobby
You should catch the 82 version of this if you think he's on fire here.
he didn't mention polyphs operation in his book but does describe the cancer and treatment. he found it recording book of souls and felt it might be his swan song. but they are on tour now somewhere in time and he is still singing.
The tour is The Future Past get with it 🎸🤞🤞
AND, don't forget that this is the final song in their concerts after a couple hours of performing.
Love it Maggs🎸🎸🇦🇺
💖🎸🎸🇦🇺
The throat cancer was after this. Unrelated, He also recorded the solo album ''Tyranny of Souls'' with broken ribs. His solo stuff is great too.
I'd love to see Iron Maiden closing the 'Brits' with that song.
Nicko McBrain dont get the recognition he deserve. One of the best drummers of all time Iron Maiden legends
Agreed. In addition to his playing, the sound of his drums is also incredible.
On your own, check out the 1982 live 'Beast Over Hammersmith' version of Hallowed Be Thy Name just for a bit of compare and contrast. I believe you'll see how great they were when they were young, but also how well they've held up these many years since, and even some things they've learned between then and now. For boomers everywhere, any young woman commenting on our teenage heroes is a Metal Diva.
Metal Diva...I like it LOL! 🤘🤪🤘
hey Maggie u know that Bruce is the pilot flying them round the word in a 747? Most impressive.
Remastered video of the 1982 performance of this song at Hammersmith Odeon dropped a few months ago on the tubes. So, if you wanna know what this song sounded like when it was fresh, and Bruce had big hair, check it out.

Up the irons! They always seem like kids on stage just having a blast!
And that song was at the end of a 2 hour high energy set.
Thank you for reacting to one of my all time favourites! Just returned from Wacken Open Air where the irons were billed as headliners and I can tell you they still keep slaying it! 🤘🏼
He is in his 60s now. Saw them last month and still as good 👍🏻
Hi Maggie.
Nice reaction. 👍🏻
You always wondering how good they are but you need to keep in mind that this formation
played since 1981 as a Band hundreds of live concerts.
Bruce Dickinson didnt have throat cancer in this time.
He get throat cancer in 2014 and this show was recorded in 2001.
Bruce Dickinson have a pilot license and he flew for Astraeus, a small British Airline, from 1990 ´till 2011
