First time I ever saw someone take the time to show how to tie in the loose strands after making your loops on a Flemish Twist bow string! Great video!
Interesting...this is the first video I've seen where the entire bowstring is done in Flemish twist....rather than just doing the two ends and leaving the center loose to be served together. It takes a lot of the confusion out of string length for sure...just stop and make the loop where you want your string to end lol. Thanks for sharing.
Some people prefer the pride of knowing they had their hands in the entire process. I just built my first bow (well, am building...it's almost done), and it started by forging out my drawknife, building a bowyer's vise, drawing out the design I wanted...cutting down a 2" ash sapling (hollow limb design) with a camp knife I made, etc. If I could make the string from scratch I would...but I'll have to settle for buying the string materials and doing my own Flemish twist string. Even going slow and being careful it should only take about 45 minutes to an hour or so to make. This way I can say I made the entire bow from end to end...and take full pride in the performance and uniqueness of it.

Thanks!
Been making my own strings for 25yrs . Good video
Well done video. Just what I needed. Added to my playlist for primative bow making for future reference. Thanks!

Honestly man. Between making bows and arrows and potentially leather working on top of that, I'm happy to outsource the strings
Great video it was good to watch! As for myself I think I’d much rather spend 15 dollars for a new string than going through all this work 😂
Haha thanks. Give it a try sometime! I tend to make things look harder than they are 😀

$15 can't buy the knowledge

Is there an Easter egg arrow shaft hiding under the grass in the last frame?

No servings required?
Not Neccessary but can be added
