‼I must've accidentally edited out the price of my bracelets, which are $18, as of 2023! 🔆 And now for More Tips!! 🔆 1) If people are in your booth looking, and don't realized the value of your wares, respectfully talk about the materials you use. (The type, quality, and time.) Helps give a better understanding and appreciation of your work, and all that goes into it. 2) When considering a show for the first time, can ask the event coordinator the type of advertising, and how much. Including signage and visibility. Even the average attendance from previous years! If a show is juried (items approved first), each art/craft category will have a limit, and the overall quality will be at a level, where you’ll get a fairer price for your items. (And it doesn’t turn into a flea market, where you’re lucky to break even!) In my opinion, better to be a little more selective, and also work shows that are supportive of the vendors. 😉

Hi Helene, you have really hit the nail on the head, so to speak, about how much time and effort you put into a project. Most people don't care a fig about how much time it takes to crochet or knit anything, how hard it is on your hands, especially when you double up on the strands of yarn, even triple up, I can't imagine using three strands of yarn. If I see a pattern that calls for using two skeins of yarn at once I usually skip it, it's too hard for me. I've never made anything and sold it but I admire those who do. Your crochet always looks perfect, thank you Helene!

It often boggles my mind, the perception, and how some place value on some wares, higher or lower than others. When in reality, it should be the other way around. I could tell stories about it!! I agree, pick and choose your projects and yarn type, for hand health. 💜🤗🌻

They don’t realize how expensive it is to buy decent quality yarn and make something nice! Thanks for sharing how you do your selling. Much love

At the lake or a park. North Idaho is pretty close! Love Sandpoint! The fires are so scary and how quickly they can spread. Semi-close to Elk, as the crow flies west. Smoke been horrible. Better in our little pocket today; but still bad and staying indoors. I packed evacuation/provision bags & bins yesterday for us and our pets, right by the door. Always a concern this time of year. I usually get it together by June. Better for some preparedness and not need it. Some folks in Medical Lake had 5 min., while others fled with only the clothes on their backs. Re. a meet n' greet, I thought for those on the western side who might want to come, could stay in a local (more affordable) hotel or rent a cabin at the lake. I'd come up with a design project for all of us that day! Something easier for novice crocheters, yet interesting enough for the more seasoned! I love the way you put this video together. And, I really like the colors you use. I really appreciate the time you took to put all your experience together here. Wishing good luck to you in all your creations.
I've been crocheting since I was 11 years old. I made doll clothes, purses, pop-bottle covers and put together lots of pom-poms. In my 20s I sold bags, halter tops, sleeveless t-shirts, granny square skirts, and granny square slippers at an open air vendor market. I made enough money at Christmas to take a holiday in a foreign country. In my 30s I made a few items and took them at a one day event and really I thought $8 for my small bags was a super bargain but I only sold one. A woman gave me $7 and a raffle ticket. Well that raffle ticket a month later came back as a 16-day $300 bus trip through Baja CA. I was so thrilled. It was right before Easter and I met people on the bus trip who became life long friends.
Even today I still crochet with my yarn that I have stashed in the closet. Crocheted snowflakes, shoulder bags, edgings as borders around skirts and t-shirts, edgings around my wash rags are my thing. I only use natural fibers for my hats which are one of a kind custom made ones. I also sell scarves in all kinds of different fibers. I wish the vendor markets in my area were easier to sell things at since I do not like being outdoors for the whole day. Maybe one day soon I'll open up a social media vendor account to sell the bags!!

Thank you so much for this video! I've had thoughts of one day taking my crochet and tie dye works to some sort of craft fair, but I was always intimidated by the thought of having to choose a price for my stuff. I'm very glad you mentioned things like where you're selling and even the state of the economy at the time. I wouldn't have even considered something like that. I'm glad I came across someone who's as knowledgeable and experienced and level-headed about the process of selling at craft fairs as you are. Maybe one day I'll take that leap! Either way, thanks for all the tips!

You’re so welcome, and I thank you! Really glad it helped! You can start off small, with even one table and maybe a little rack, see how it goes. Smaller shows tend to have more affordable vendor fees. Really nice you ie-dye also, as it’s still quite popular and I bet would do really well!

    Hi Helene
Thank you sharing your insights on pricing and strategies for selling
How many items do you bring to the show?
Do you bring stuff to work on during slow times?
What do you normally charge for the bracelets?
    Bless you for your help
I had a lady comment that she couldnt get a good price for her crocheted blankets I told her to make smaller items which would take less time and sell faster. Just a thought about your Victory blankie to make it into a figit blanket for Alzeihmers or Dementia patients. Think they call them Twiddle blankets that are lap blanket size

    • @cabinfevercrochet
      @cabinfevercrochet  Год назад

Oh, you're very welcome! I bring whatever I've been able to produce, which varies at times. The more you have for people to look at, the longer they'll stay in your booth. Even starting off with less, display can make all the difference. Here's the link to my display video, for some ideas, with visuals. ruclips.net/video/hJCfzOiEfUM/видео.html And yes! I always bring a project to work on! Sometimes so busy and no time for it; but during lulls, I like keeping my hands busy and making the most use of my time there. I keep the project to one I'm familiar with; so I can stay on track, in between customers. I charge $18 for the bracelets. Great tip you for lady on her blankets! Twiddle blankets are terrific and something I'd be inclined to donate. Thank you for watching and being part of my YT family!! 💗

Very interesting & helpful! I think your prices are very fair indeed, especially for the amount of time involved! I find pricing hard too. I have an Etsy store & it's taken a while to get comfortable with higher prices on items that have taken me a long while to crochet. We only did one market & decided not to do any more as people wanted things for next to nothing. It's easier for me to have an online store. I'm always super impressed with people who sell well at markets! I'll have to have a go at your hat designs. They're awesome! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Hi! I’m so happy this is helpful! And I appreciate your input on my prices. That’s always been the hardest for me. I’ve found Etsy to be kind of a tough market for handmade items. But once people start buying, and your customer base expands, it’ll and help get you out there more. 💕

Hi Helene, I have just found your channel and feel very blessed to have done so. Thank you for showing your beautiful patterns and sharing your pricing strategies. I never know what to sell items for. I know I always sell too low, but I get commissions by word of mouth. It's always a friend of a friend and this and that. I always tell them as long as they basically cover the cost of the yarn plus $5 or $10, I don't mind making it for them. I need to get better at selling things for their actual value. Thank you again for sharing. God bless you and happy crocheting. ❤🙏🧶

Pricing is usually one of, if not the hardest for most people, including myself. I’m glad you’re charging for the cost of your materials. Gift your time and work if you’d like; but also don’t be afraid to charge for that, too! Even if it’s at a discount, for those closer to you or in need. 💕

It is your sense of style and color. You mentioned choosing the yarn to match the item. You are very good at this. I always think that I have to be original in what I make to sell. I want to try some bracelets but I don’t remember what price points you use for them. I look forward to subscribing and learning more from you. Thank you!

I absolutely agree, the more original you can be with what you sell, the better. My crochet bracelets are priced at $18; but as mentioned, subjective to your area, clientele, and quality of materials you use. Thank you so much for watching and your lovely comment. 💗

Hi! That’s ICE Yarns, Cotton Cakes Fine. Only a few left in other colors. It’s a 4-strand thread weight, not spun together. Other similar out there. Red Heart It’s A Wrap Rainbow (or Sprinkles) is discontinued; but last time I looked, Herrschners still had some on blowout clearance. Hobbii has their version, the Dahlia (many gorgeous colors) and Azalea, also in a lovely array. Pricy; but they have regular sales, with deep discounts that vary every week or two. They have an email newsletter you can join. If you get that yarn, one great tip from a viewer for working with it. Slide a bead on first, and will help keep the strands together. 😃
