Well done on all your beautiful designs. I don't crochet for resale anymore, people just don't appreciate the time and effort that goes into making an item and still try and wangle a lower price on something already priced waaaay below its value. I get the comment "but its homemade" and I retaliate "but its designer" 😁😁 Crochet Love from South Africa
Hello! Love your comment! All so true and well said. Similar experiences here. Even with those who appreciate the value, still can’t get the time out of it. Fortunately, I make and sell jewelry too, to help offset. (I have another video coming soon on selling and pricing!) I’ve minimized the amount of shows I do, and will soon retire from that altogether. Focus more on my RUclips channel 😊
I agree, I was pretty disheartened at my last couple of shows hearing things like “so and so could make that for me for free…” and “that would be cheaper at Target” people who dont create have no idea how much time is involved.
I was just starting to crochet things to sell and I've already decided its not worth it, no matter how much people 'Ooh' and 'Ahh' at what i make they just don't want to pay a fair price. So ive switched over to teaching beginner crocheting lessons. Much easier! I still get to crochet and i get to spread the joy of seeing people learn the craft!
I only crochet for family, and the first thing that came to mind when I came across this video was how very kind of you to devote such time to tutorials, and helping those who make to sell. Such a sweetie! ❤
I started out that way, and eventually progressed; since I love to teach and share! Wonderful having this forum to do so; and meet so many wonderful folks like yourself! Thank you for being part of my RUclips family. 💕💕💕
I love to crochet and i have never wanted to make to sell, because i saw myself sitting day after day making the same thing, and i am just not that person. But by your video i see that i could make just a couple or at most a few things and make each enough different that i wouldn't mind the repitition. And by making several different items I can draw more attention to my offerings. There are always times when we need a bit extra, and i am NOW looking forward to making some goodies to sell. And boy do i know that people never think of the time and effort needed to make something! But it would be rewarding to have people appreciate them. it is very generous of you to share your experiences with us. And i really appreciate it!!!! Thank you so much!
I'm more than happy to pass along some of my life experiences that may be of help to others. So nice hearing your thoughts on the subject, too. I also like variety, and not too much repetition. Just have fun with it; but be careful not to become a factory, cranking things out, which can lead to burn-out pretty fast. Hard on the body, too. I suggest pacing yourself, take breaks, and keep it to a level that's comfy for you. 😃

You just popped up on my feed . I love the things you've made. I mainly knit although I learned to knit and crochet around the same time when I was 8 years old (I'm 70 now!!). I recently started to crochet again so I've been watching videos because I'm a bit rusty. So glad you appeared to help me improve. New subscriber. Love from the UK.
Hi, and thanks so much for your wonderful and heartwarming comment. Always extra exciting meeting someone either new, or coming back into fiber arts! I first learned to knit about the same age as you. Then at 13 learned to crochet, and all I’ve done since until a few years ago, when I had the itch to dabble with knitting again. I’m really glad to know you’re enjoying my videos and they’re helping you. Thank you for subscribing, and letting me know how you found my channel. I’m in Northeast Washington state, if you haven’t seen a video of me mentioning that yet. 💗💗💗
Oh how nice to have you here! Small world! Thank you sharing your local heritage. I love knowing that, with great respect, and would really enjoy meeting you. The 13th was our last market day of the season...reopens next year, mid-May. 💗
You are so generous to just share your patterns and only want to be credited. You have some unique and fun items. I've been looking for a hat pattern like that for myself for AGES!!! ❤
I'm so glad I found you! I have been wanting a great bucket hat pattern and also your brimmed cap may be a big hit with the ladies who play pickleball at the resort parks all winter!! Thank you, thank you!!
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you landed here too! How fun, getting to play pickleball in winter! I think they would indeed be a big hit! Color coordinated for different teams might be cute too! 😃
Hi! I really enjoyed your video and appreciated very much because I have been trying to sell my bags online, on Etsy, and I haven't had even one sale! But your video gave me hope in the future because I really love crochet and I never want to quit, I believe in this product and so I just wanted to thank you again for giving me more hope.❤ I can't really do craft shows because I have to take care of my elderly mother and she can't sit in the craft show all day it would hurt her. That being said, and after watching your video, I know that someday I will be okay. Thanks again😅
Hello! I’m so glad it was helpful and gave you some hope and inspiration for the future. Etsy can be a tough one. Everything and anything goes on there now. Whereas years ago, was only handmade. Even then, my sales were far and few between. That was when I had jewelry, only. It’s been better since having a RUclips channel, having more exposure. I do understand, first hand, the involvement, personal limitations, and toll it can take, caring for a loved one. Perhaps you can get orders from friends/family. Get some business cards made, with your Etsy shop link and email address. Give them out to everyone you know, and ask them to pass them along, to everyone they know! If there are some nice shops in your area, who’ll accept local handmade on consignment, could be another avenue for you. Give them your cards as well! (As long as you get your price out of it and their % is reasonable.) Just remember, it all starts with one! One thing I’ve learned in life, is it is about change. Stay strong and resilient, and BELIEVE that you ARE okay. 💗

The formula of materials+ hrs( time) plus hourly wage is rarely fairly seen. Some people want a lot for nothing & its so disheartening.I hafe crocheted for 48 years since I was a child & people always say my crochet is so beautiful & I should sell my items but know I'd probably never get paid what the items are worth. My finger accidentally hit send before I finished. Now, let’s try it again! It was absolutely lovely being there, while spending time with everyone here. It kind of felt like we were all on a mini yarn retreat together! ☺️
You have so many fun looking items. I don’t do craft fairs,,but they make great gifts. I’m retired and disabled so I have nothing but time. I really want to give them a go.😊
Hi! I’m so glad you’re feeling inspired and want to make some too! 😍 So nice to hear, thank you. I’m sorry you have disabilities; but sounds like a positive attitude and being creative to help along the way. 🌟
You have very talented hands, I only wish I could do the work you do. Even me being a beginner understands what and how much work goes into creating these items and it's aggravating how cheap some people can be. I really love the bracelets and I think I'll give that a try first off then I might try the scarf with the buttons. Thanks for the tutorials and the patterns.
That’s so sweet, thank you. 💗 Everyone starts at the beginning! Just takes time, patience and practice. So happy you want to give some of my patterns and try. The scarf with buttons is pretty easy, and as with all of my tutorials, I take you through, step-by/step.
Thank you for this generous video. Among your many elegant designs, I love the winter weather "baseball cap" design best. Just think how many people you have kept warm (and attractive!)
That’s so kind of you to say! And I appreciate it a lot. Very cute about keeping people, warm and attractive! 😀 It works up well in various types of yarns. Easy to adjust the hook size accordingly. I hope to have the written pattern for it up this Fall.
@@cabinfevercrochet I look forward to seeing the written pattern. Your design shades the wearer's face nicely. I also like that it is more elegant than sporty.
@@ZebaKnight Oh, thank you, again! You have such a nice way of expressing yourself. I figured more facial coverage needed for the winter elements. I made one for an order last week, in all cotton variegated, and will show it when I release the pattern. Hoping October sometime. 😃
Thank you for this. I do not sell. But this is a question that is asked on crochet groups. How much things are sold for is the next question that is asked. Maybe you could cover that. I am going to recommend this video. TY

Hello, another E. WA desert dweller here. I LOVE those bracelets. I don't know how you guys do it, making stuff for fairs and such. I make one or 2 of something and I'm done. I just can't make one item over and over again. Hahaha It's the same with painting, paint one or two pics of the same thing and I've had enough, ready to move on. I'm crocheting a wildly colorful granny square blanket right now that I'm hoping to sell when all is done and I'm happy with it but......I'll probably end up giving it to someone, another reason I can't sell at fairs hahaha I'd rather gift a item than sell it. Best of luck at your next/last fair.
Hello There! Desert dweller, ha ha! I’m more northeastern; but with this heat and dry air, sure feeling like it! 😅 Overall, I do prefer variety. Keeps things interesting and helps prevent burn out. I do have some favorite patterns, and those I enjoy making over and over. I’m winding down on the craft shows, yet with everything I make, will probably have enough gifts for everyone for the next 10 years! 😂
I have good luck selling afghans at my cousins gift shop attached to her restaurant, I believe people buy them to give for gifts to their elderly family members, lots of older people in the area. She’s my only 1st cousin & she doesn’t charge me any commission. I don’t charge a lot mainly because they wouldn’t sell in that area of NYS. Crocheting keeps me busy year round especially now I’m retired, I’m also doing Cricut things. Thanks for showing us what works for you.
What a nice way to make and sell. So sweet of your cousin. Even though you may not make much, enjoying what you do is what matters, and donating part of your time is a gift. Rewards come in many ways! I’ve never tried Cricut; but have seen some amazing things people make with it. How fun! 😃
Thank you so much for your wonderful post. I love all of your items and plan to make several of them. I am what is best described as a part-time crocheter so really enjoy small projects for gifts to family and friends. I live on the "other" coast in Virginia but have visited Washington and love the beauty of the mountains and lakes. So happy to find your channel.
Hello, and thank YOU, for such lovely and heartwarming sentiments. So happy to have you here! 🥰 Wonderful you want to make several of these items! How nice you've been out west. I'm originally from Virginia, until I was (almost) 13! Terrific memories and a very beautiful state, too. ☺
Wow! I love all your items! I'll have to try the bracelet pattern. I work at Michael's and I love seeing the young kids getting excited about making bracelets; yet, I fear they'd ask a question on how to do them. I can't really answer since I've never done one myself and don't have the concept in my head until I do make one. I have done several craft fairs, years ago, selling my paintings. I did well then. I've been knitting hats and socks for the family lately. I also knit for charity occasionally. I'll probably try the craft shows again next year once I'm settled. Thank you for sharing all your unique designs. Take care. ❤
Thank you so much! 💜 The bracelet is fun to make, and works up quickly…once you have one down. I also love seeing younger generations getting into crafts! You sound very multi-talented. Wonderful you knit and paint, and did well selling! 👏 I double a little in knitting. Verrry sloooowly! 😅
I hope you'll give selling a try sometime. I started out with a couple of places that had no long-term commitment. That way, if I decided it wasn't for me or I wanted to try elsewhere, I could. Qithout losing out or feeling pressured.
This was so helpful. It at least gives me a place to start re-evaluating what else I could add to my table at craft fairs. Thanks for sharing! Your shawls are beautiful. 😊

Thank you so much for watching!! 💗
TY
Oh, thank you! I really appreciate you sharing! I do have a new video on pricing, released a few days ago. Here’s the link! 🔆 PRICING & SELLING TIPS for Handmade Items!! 🔆

Thank you so much!
I’m so glad I just found you. What a great video & THANK YOU for sharing your wonderful talent & expertise!!
You are so welcome! I’m very glad you found me too, and that you enjoyed my video. 💗💗
Great view. Pretty bracelets. Thanks for sharing all the good stuff.
Thank you! Hope you’ll make one for yourself! 😍
24/7 is a favorite cotton yarn for me!
I have a whole drawer of the stuff! In almost every color!! 💚💛😅💜🧡
Thank you for sharing. I'd really like to make and sell. Someday maybe I'll be able to.
You are very welcome, and I appreciate you being here and watching. so glad it was helpful! 🌻
