🐔Just the video I needed today! Prepping for a couple of comic cons and have never done one, so this is sooo helpful. I live in a small town in northwest Ohio and pricing is dicey. The larger the market the more I can charge. My best sellers are axolotyls, chickens, pom pom baby hats and snugglers. Thank you for all the awesome content, Amanda, you ROCK!
I only crochet as a hobby. Mostly just make up my own things after looking at something, just make it up or “tweek” existing patterns. I LOVE those little animals and haven’t tried making one yet but I think you have convinced me!!❤
I have a couple months experience with crocheting but feel like I'm picking it up fairly easily. However I decided to try and start a business and the business aspect I completely struggle with. Thank you for explaining how you do things
Ive just started doing markets again after a couple of years & am in a new city & market but ny small stingrays & all 3 sizes of octopi are my best sellers. Thanks for sharing, just found your channel & subscribed. I too have a channel & appreciate your time & commitment. Have a great day! 🐤
🐥My biggest sellers this year have been turtles. Next are oppossums, then bees. I just added the chicks with frog hats to my list of things to make for the fall, inspired by this video. Thanks!
Me and my mom do markets. She does crochet toys and I sew (fleece and faux fur) so it’s 2 different styles. Her best is crocheted rats and mine is usually mini cyclops monsters or potatoes. I highly recommend anyone who does markets to do rats.
Definitely reconsider. I know how long they take to make. I will be going over pricing in depth in an episode of my new series Small Business Realities Podcast. I also have a pricing video on my channel already that goes over the basics. You should give that one a look. You are worth more.
If you’re doing it as a business then yes but it’s something extra for for fun then maybe not. I know where I am in Canada people wouldn’t pay those prices.
You would be surprised. People are willing to pay for quality handmade goods, anywhere in the world. Value yourself with confidence and they will value your work. Unfortunately, what I sell are "luxury" items. They aren't a need for people, they are a want. I cannot let a customer's budget determine my prices. I offer a wide variety of items priced according to the time and effort it took to make.
It's true about the $20 mark. I make ears, a kid heavy audience, and parents bawk less at that price point. But due to my wish for a living wage, I raised them to $25. People ask me how long it takes to make a pair, and I suspect it's their way of asking if I think I deserve a living wage. Bah!
I would say yes, that is definitely their way of asking about the price. I made a sign that states what factors go into my pricing. I know some people have added to their price tags a Time to Make line under their pricing to avoid that question.

Buttcheeks make everything 100% cuter! I love adding buttcheeks!

I appreciate the advice on pricing. I just sold my first amigurami creation… Cleo the Clam! 😊
Glad it was helpful! Congrats on your sale!
Wow,I’m totally under pricing my stuff.
I've definitely learned over time what people are willing to pay for.

Best of luck at all your shows!
I am still a beginner at markets so I will see what sells this year. 🐓
Best of luck, you got this 🐓🐓🐓
I love hearing how you decide to price your things. That is the area I struggle in.
You got this. Charge your worth.
🐥 A few of my best sellers are mini minions, little turtles, and small penguins.
Minions are always so cute! Turtles, always a solid choice, and yes penguins!
Opossums, axolotls, and turtles of all sizes are my best sellers
Always good choices!
My hardest to keep in stock are mini kirby, palm sized octos and possums in NC. Though possums barely sold in D.C. for me at all.
Yes! And I didn't move a lot of opossums in DC either lol
🐔 I love the snuggle axolotl
thanks so much!
My best sellers are turtles, stingrays and axolotls .
Have a market tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it goes well.
Yes, all three are great. I hope it goes well!
Middle GA: I also sell a lot of axolotls (a different pattern) baby cows, tofu the turtle, mushy pops and baby sharks
awesome. I haven't done a bunch of sharks, but they did sell pretty well when I had them.
