Per chance, would you know why the red LED would be showing on the old PF2048 charger? The chair is indicating a low power battery. It has not been used for a year. I lost the original AC cord and used another one I had with the same oval connector.

if the batteries are too low, the charger may not recognize them and actually turn on.. with a lot of chargers that condition will trip the red light. typically wheelchair batteries will go bad within 3-4 months if left connected to a chair while its sitting idle. to prevent this, if the chair has a circuit breaker on it. you'll wanna turn that off when the chair is put into storage. or take off the covers and physically disconnect the batteries electrically

Often times, the work-around to buying from a large supplier is to contact them and tell them that you are interested in obtaining a few sample pieces to test and review before placing a larger order. Years ago, they would comp you a few units. More recently, they charge you for everything.
Thanks for the video. It was interesting to see a source for power supplies online.

hey you mentioned awhile back that you were going to buy a scale or more like build one to see how heavy each wheelchair is. if and when you do one will it be something anyone can make? I could seriously use one for doctor visits because I could weigh everything and just deduct the amount of the wheelchair weight and walla.

yes! its essentially a livestock scale kit - they are sold on ebay. they come with 4 load cells, controller, and wiring - then ya build your own platform out of wood or something rigid. similar to this - - - ebay.us/DLYvNH its on the list but havent bought the setup yet :^)

ROHS - basicly means it doesn't contain lead paint chips, loose asbestos fibers, or Depleted Uranium.
.......And that is only if you think the Chinesiumn sellers are being honest

The battery charger for my Quantum 4Front always breaks and it is so freaking frustrating...I saved the old charger so I can use the new charger as a backup...Between you and me, I think the joystick is killing my chargers...Insurance only gives you one charger, so if it breaks, I have no way to charge the 4Front, that is why I try to use the old charger...The old charger finally broke...The power light comes on but when I plug the xlr in the charging port, the light does not illuminate...So I priced my BRIGHT WAY GROUP 24V 8A Charger FC300-240-8000U new charger online and it is over $100...I don't have that kind of money to spend on a charger...The old charger case looks like it is glued together...I have to look at it better, but I don't have a clue as to how to fix the damn thing...I just want to scream...

permobil's older chargers are made by ePowerfirst.. super nice! ya can find them on ebay for $100 or under if ya look around, and check listing a a few times per week
      here's a few similar listings..
(there's even an older one for $68 right now - (black and silver metal)
the upright gray plastic ones, with a green sticker are great - i use them for everything :^)
      www.ebay.com/itm/266633445275
      www.ebay.com/itm/134916444980
just make sure you buy from a seller that accepts returns in case there are any issues..
also - stay away from the permobil 'volt pro' chargers - they are blue and black
i'd visually inspect your charging jack on the joystick tho... make sure it doesnt appear damaged, and the connection isnt super loose

Thanks I will look for that one...I remember years ago I made friends with the customer service rep from my medical supply company...Her husband gave me a professional wheelchair battery charger...It was working beautifully charging my 4Front every day until one day it just stopped working...It had the same symptoms as the charger that just stopped working...You power it on, power light comes on, but the charging light does not come on when you plug it in the charging port...I also remember this one that broke, not the one that her husband got me, got very hot to the touch...The xlr end felt like it was on fire...So I am wondering if it is meeting any resistance in the charging port or even those inline fuses in the battery cables can exhibit resistance over time...I'm just guessing...Though the new battery charger is working fine for now...I still need a backup so I will look for that permobil one...

I checked the charging port but it is not loose or anything...So it has to be downstream so to speak...I can follow the charging port cable to see where it connects to I guess...I wish I had that amp clamp meter...That would tell me if the charger is at least facing any resistance flowing through the wires...

yeaa if the XLR is getting hot.. then something is wrong.. it should never get BARLEY warm to the touch.. in the US i know there is a user app for the power platform.. its different than the 'my permobil' app, i thought it was quickconfig.. but again IDK in other markets outside the US

    • @josephvida1439

That is why I am thinking it's the wheelchair not so much the charger giving me problems...If it was too much resistance in the charger, theoretically, the charger should overheat and just burn out...However, if it is something in the charging circuit of the wheelchair, I assume that is putting "pressure" on the charger causing it to just stop functioning correctly...I could be wrong, I am not electronically advanced enough like you...I only have a basic knowledge of resisters, capacitors, and diodes...
