    good educational video, ever thought of designing a hoverchair , one that floats about 3 inches of the ground with a rubber skirt ,maybe a directional fan with thrusters, then we would not worry about stairs , or water and snow

    Love your videos, thanks. Hope you will make a lithium ion battery video too. My Swiss chair (turbo twist) officially can use lithium batteries, but I need to cover langer distances, which presently is impossible. By the way, wheelchairs are in my country used by politics as weapon to enclave their dependable users also setting prices super high. It is almost impossible to get second hands chairs. Keep on the good work, sincerely, Wolter

    That is a lot of work putting together the tanks and hose for the video. However, it does graphically show what you are trying to get across. It definitely does show some of the things that I have observed, like you are using your chair and it is down to 80 percent. Shut the chair off for 5 minutes and then when you turn it on it shows 100 percent again, although when you start using the chair it quickly goes back to the 80 percent.
    I am in the process of building a power gauge similar to what you have so that I can see the power usage as I am using the chair. Of course the meter comes with an 8" league for the current ring so that has to be cut and spliced. Trying now to figure how how and where to mount the meter. At the same time thinking of adding a horn that can actually be heard and some led headlights. I will try to take pictures of the various steps.

    So, your point is running your batteries out of the 3 green
    square blocks
    -- into the 1st. Yellow
    square block :
    -- permanently damages the
    batteries, right. ?

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  3 года назад

      nope! - the only way ya can damage your batteries is by not fully charging them every night, ALL night. (its not immediate damage.. but over time if ya CONSISTENTLY only partially charge them, and never FULLY charge them, it will shorten the service life substantially)
      sometimes on certain chairs the battery gauge appears to go back up a bit after you stop.. i was just explaining kinda how they work in general.
      dont pay attention to the lights on the charger, or the battery gauge on the chair - even after the lights show green, or battery gauge shows full - leave it plugged in! SLA batteries need at least an hour of 'absorption' charging once they're 'full'
      moral of the story.. plug them in for 8 hours minimum at the end of the day, and you're good to go! (as opposed to only charging every 2-3 days, or just when they get low)
      ya can run them as low as ya want during the day.. but just make sure they get fully charged back up that night!

    I overcharged my little 3-wheeler last night. Now the gauge won't go to where it was. I'm hoping when the battery is go down a little bit and I recharge them without forgetting the charger is on it overnight if they will be ok again?

      12 hours of charging should hurt anything.. unless there's something with wrong with the charger, or its not an OEM one

      if its been sitting for that long with the batteries connected to the chair, they'll definitely need replacing :^/
      MK power is the best brand for any power chair!
      if ya need to save money though, and the chair uses group 22 batteries - these are pretty decent!

    Will it damage the battery in a 2023 quantum edge to leave the charger on too long or is it a "smart" charger?
    Everything is brand new. It may occasionally go several days without use.
    I'm not planning on leaving the charger on that long but there may be times when I can't get to it.
    O can get a smart outlet if you think I should.

    By power, sounds like watts. I tell people the only batteries worth buying are MK. Do you know of any othe s worth buying? Maybe Optimas, though they don't make a lot of mobility sizes. I really want to have a set of Lipo batteries with enough output to run all my chairs, and I could potentially b put them in anything if I want to.
    They are so much better, but so much more $!

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  2 года назад

      eh.. optima's are trashy IMO.. about 7 years ago they kinda turned into run-of-the-mill expensive boat anchors lol
      my local parts store stopped selling them, as about 75% of them came back as returns within 6 months!

      @@TotallyNormal- Dangit! The battery market is mostly trash these days! Can you imagine if we could design a chair with up-to-date technology in the motors, suspension, batteries & charging?
      I guess for now I’ll stick with MK, and keep hoping I get the motivation or $ to build or buy my dream LiPo battery set.
      I fantasize about industry-standard 24v Li-Pos in a long, easily swappable shape. Maybe 20 actual amp hours each. Some group 1 chairs could run on one, bigger chairs on two or three in parallel.
      Maybe as more baby boomers take to WCs we’ll get some innovation.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  2 года назад

      LiFePO4 is much better suited for wheelchairs - the safety, and cycle life is WAY better than other chemistries. they are slightly larger, but worth it IMO!

    so if plug cell phonetablet or computer into the controller what kind of draw would it have on battery

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  5 лет назад +2

      Here’s some maths... let’s say you have a 5,000 mah phone battery pack.. like the kind ya get at Walmart and charge you phone.. most rehab wheelchairs have 75 Ah batteries.. which is 75,000 mah sooo your chair can charge that battery pack 15 times... and if that pack can charge your phone 3 times on a charge... well... let’s just say it’s an insignificant amount of power to charge your phone lol

      what do you mean by "slow discharge"? how far does gauge go down? and does the chair still move?
      the lights on the charger dont necessarily mean anything.. its best to plug chair in every night, all night. regardless of what battery gauges and lights on chargers indicate.

      yea.. sounds like ya need a new set of batteries! and yes - waiting till the battery gets "low" on the joystick before charging isnt the 'best' thing for lead acid batteries. they dont like sitting around at less than full charge most of the time. swap in a new set, plug it in every night, and you'll be god to go! good luck!

    • @CameraRetard
      @CameraRetard 5 лет назад

      If your not going to use your lead acid batteries for a long period of time your must charge them fully then disconnect them from the chair. Or at least charge them every week even if you don't use the chair. A disconnected battery might need charging every three months.
      For a long life lead battery it must be kept charged as much as possible and discharged as little as possible. It also must be charged properly and that can take twelve hours with 74Ah batteries.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  5 лет назад

      exactly! disconnecting them from the chair is the key! chairs have a small parasitic draw that will drain over time.
