Great review. I was talking to a suspension guy about adding steering dampers and he said if the suspension is setup correctly you don't need a damper. Considering that an electronic damper is built into the CBR600RR and other track focused bikes I didn't know how to respond other than to say "ah, ok -- that's interesting". Considering who this guy is I chose to trust his comment. Obviously, he would have said put a damper on if that was indeed necessary. So, maybe a properly tuned SP has less of an issue with headshake compared to the stock model.
After swapping the rear shock and the Andriani fork cartridges from you guys at TST, that crazy front end shake is GONE… I just turned my steering damper to zero for 95% of riding.
Just bought a mt10 sp few months ago and pretty much the same thing, front end wonders everywhere and ran out of tire very easy, swapped the rear for 200/55 and the front is planted and doesn’t wonder or shake anymore.
This is good stuff... for all trackday junkies out there trying to get one of this bikes, definitely will help to make your final decision if mt09 is the one you need
I'm new to motorcycles and bought a 2024 MT-09 a few months ago. Do I need to change my exhaust before getting a ECU flash? I'm not in a rush to change out the exhaust but I'm not too fond of the 1st and 2nd gear limitations and looking to get it fixed with a ECU flash.
Is the tune specific to the type/brand exhaust that one is putting on their bike? I have an SC Projects CRT that I have for the 2024 that I plan on putting on tomorrow.
The tires flex so much, please don't get scared off by this. Put the bike a bit more on the nose you will be fine. Or even better get to the suspension guy at the track 👊

The problem with the bike is with the design. The center of gravity is too high for those kinds of speeds. Its the same with the MT07. They are simply not designed for those kinds of speeds. It also makes no sense to run those kinds of speeds on a naked bike.
A bike that the speedo actually reads right. I have to run all my Kawasaki's with Ulysses speedo on my phone. My ZH2 is the worst. At an indicated 150 plus its at least 10mph off. Even my z125 pro is off 5. Terrible and it drives me crazy. Good video by the way.
I just don't see recovering that ~4 to 5 horsepower loss on this '24 model vs the last year. Not much you can do about a smaller airbox that doesn't have ram air or some other solution. It's all noise and emissions compliance. It gets old.
@@sural89 On 2wdw website, the 2014 model was making 118/66 from 43cc smaller engine. The '21+ model making 115/70. Big torque improvement, but the bike gained some weight and lost some top end. Now the 24 model comes along so far making even less hp. The engine is brilliant. The problem has always been the chassis and the air-support equipment feeding/exhausting the engine. Almost frustrating enough to want to stick money into a Z900 instead, which never had a chassis issue, a front stability issue, and is massively wide powerband at the top end making near 130 hp on some dynos for like the last 3,000 rpm. Nice riding!
In terms of pure FUN factor, how would you rate this bike to a 890/990 KTM?
The LC8c is plagued with prematurely wearing camshafts. Beware if you're in the market.
Oh the no dampener is a real problem, to me on mine is really the only thing it needs!
Great video. Any plans to add a steering damper? & if so, what make?
None are currently listed for the 24 model, but we will be testing one that we think might work! We'll cover it if it does.
Hyperpro Suspension has one available
Can you explain how to get that blue yellow and red on the dash. On my gen4 its only blue colour...
moving the oem pegs up will be better?
Does this change the reported 2nd gear gimping from Yamaha?
They need to put this engine in a proper sportbike already. Just take the R6 and shoehorn this glorious engine in.
Put it into a chassis that isn't wheelie-happy and actually is stable at speed.
The R9 is coming 😉

Just wondering if you ever found a solution? My 24’ has a wobble over 100 as well and it is very consistent. It’s like a slow oscillation.

Like Michael Jordan.
What exhaust would you recommend for the 24 mt 09
How do you turn the wheelie control off? I have one and have been trying to figure this out!
