I think that my Gen2 is the best looking. The cyclopes front end of the Gen3 has been improved with the latest version but, I still prefer the second generation. With the Gen2 the fueling / snatchy throttle of the first generation had been resolved and there was an improvement to the front fork but I agree that the suspension is still a little floaty. I played with the rear preload which helped a little. Then again if you look at it as a less extreme naked the Gen2 is still a lot of fun. The (up-only) quickshifter works very well if adjusted properly and the CP3 engine is one of the best out there. The seat on the earlier models is awful but can be replaced with a comfort seat (if manufacturers make a comfort seat why do they offer the naff version?) Hope my comments at least help anyone looking at a used Gen 2...
Upgraded to the new 2024 MT-09 SP from a gen 1 MT-07. The bike is so much fun to ride with it feeling planted and smooth, and that CP3 engine sound projecting out of the acoustics is a sensation to listen to.
This is a really good bike indeed. And a good example of why you should never go test ride new bikes at the dealers. I rode a new MT-09 AMT this weekend at it was a cool experience. It's the first time I've been able to ride a sports naked. I'm 6´8" or 203cm and quite heavy, so I've mostly ridden cruisers and ADV. But the most amazing thing this thing gave me was that the bike almost disappeared under me. Since the front is super short, I didn't see any part of the bike in my field of view, and the handling and responsiveness of the suspension was so intuitive. It actually felt like I was flying for real. Really cool feeling. And now I need a MT-09 in my life...

Am i the only one who actually likes how the bike looks? I hear people absolutely hate this bike because of its looks everywhere. But I personally find it pretty modern looking and it looks fine honestly.
i like the front of the mt09 a lot. especially compared to the street triple where the headlight is to far away from the forks. i have ridden both bikes for half a day. i thought it it would make it easier to decide which one i like more. But now i want both :D. And i have to say after riding the 765 i absolutely understand why it is part of the super sport comparisons.
Hopefully the Gen 5 MT09 Has Apple Carplay/Android Auto with a smaller bezels on the screen. Loving they Grey/Cyan paint scheme on the Gen 4. Looks better than the Gen 3 but the Gen 2 has my heart
Fantastic bike, considering what it costs and what is offered, it’s an excellent proposition. Unfortunately, I can’t connect with its looks, and happens the same with the MT10. This assertion is valid for the KTM Dukes, also. Although the XSR 900 GP…is a serious option. i had the Tracer 9 2024, amazing engine ,handling , very sharp! I chose the Tracer coz the mt09 was small for me ,but im sure that mt09 is amazing bike too !
yep 14 model started with very ordinary suspension some dodgey low throttle mapping and a screen really added something but was somehow a good bike , so I'm glad it evolved sooo nicely
I've got the original 2015 MT09, & while it's a great commuter bike I've never been happy out on the open road with it, & that's even after changing & tuning suspension, changing brakes & changing the Bars to get it lower over the front end, to be honest the only thing I haven't changed is the frame...... But that engine dose have some great pulling power & its reliable 70k & it never misses a beat.,

I have a 2015 and I found flatter bars , the later 2018 comfort seat, Gsxr 600 rear shock and k tech fork springs sorted it to near perfect. Great bike.
This new MT 09 really doesn't stop surprising, and my 09 is a normal stock version and is still running, with 600 km on the clock, I decided to do a little test, very quickly. 30 to 40 sg,. and I reached 250 km/h on the panel. The strength of this cp3 is really impressive,..it seems that some limit it earlier and others I don't even know if it limits it,,. or not in this way of cutting, as in previous versions and in this test, I didn't take it to the redline, nor was that my interest, but I believe it should be close to the maximum. although the engine is still very new, and over time it can improve its performance!

Strange comment about the gen 1, gen 2 bikes . Besides the cheap shock and fork internals, they are amazing bikes.
saying the headlights are bad is a pretty big hit, to me. the way i look at it, if they don't illuminate the road very well, then that's a pretty good indication that they're not shining in anyone's eyes very well either. meaning you're not showing up as brightly in their mirrors. and it makes a huge difference with how often people will pull out in front of you on the highway.
Love the comments on the tyres since I just put them on my VFR 800. , !4 litres sort it rules it out in some parts of Australia. Especially if you are used to 21 litres on the VFR,

This 09 is by far the best MT 09 ever made, as well as being more complete and more technological,.. these criticisms can clearly be seen that they are based on very severe and radical movements that few will ever reach,.. for me the bike is good , although not perfect, it is at a good level and perhaps the best 900 for the money
Man ever since i bought my first bike (mt03) ive always wanted an mt09 and the 2020 was the one that looked super cool to me, i love those head lights, and yesterday i finally bought one, and now i see in every videos they say they arnt any food until the 2021 one :/
Pay no mind what others say & think. I had xsr 900 2018 model. If it stears round corners & feels comfy, gives you a 😅 very flexy job done. Gen 2 with the bikini flyscreen, comfy pad seat, finished it all off 😄

While the street would be better on track, for that 1% of my riding life, and my level of riding talent, I don’t think I’ll miss that extra sharpness. I’m certainly not out chasing 10ths

There's some coarseness buzz inherent from a triple, but keep in mind, all OEM bikes have more buzz than is originally designed because emissions regulations require engines to run lean, and lean operating conditions create combustion instability and vibration. This means a factory bike that has some buzz can get that buzz eliminated with a tune. That said, it's not bad enough to be a worry. No triple is as smooth as a four, but the Yamaha isn't something you cannot tolerate.
I own 3rd gen mt09 1 yr old. Mixed riding situations.. £7.00 = 1 gallon I get 70-75 miles. I can do 150 miles on 2 gallons. Now i admit i dont ride like Guy Martin everywhere.. But for what i get upto I dont know how YAM do it. Its a weapon. (BIPOLLA) it is..!😲😵💫
these guys yap on about the bars but you compare this to any other naked and it is so upright it feels like my tracer. My f900r is so much further forward and lower i had to get risers and its still way more aggresive. striple is waaaay different, feels like you are over the headlight.

You might or might not like how it looks but either way nobody can deny its a mess, Exhaust and front mudguard are horrible and none of the main parts gel with each other.

@@stefanhansen5882 there are sound limits now with exhaust systems, so Yamaha is getting creative with providing some additional sound to the rider. It actually works.

I own this bike after riding for the last in 12 years.... Its a gem.... Feeling realy confident at the first 500meter...
Thus will be bike of the year. My 2024 SP is the best bike I've owned to date.
I looked long and hard at the '24 mt-09 and ultimately wound up buying the '24 tracer 9gt+ Probably both would be a solid choice....

Waiting for Yamaha to bring the small list of updates to the XSR900 (switchgear, tft, updated qs, increased steering lock).
Yamaha should have given the standard exhaust of the MT10 to the 09. That heap of unfinished metal called a muffler looks horrid.

A more sticky Metzeler would be the Sportec M9 RR, but likely wouldn't heat up as quickly as the sports touring tyre.

The gas light on mine flashes when there is 6 litres left in the tank. You have to rely on the trip meter between fill-ups.

The grills on the tank cover holes leading to the airbox allowing airbox noise to reach the rider. There aren’t any speakers behind.

XSR900 looks better. Pop on an Ermax or Powerbronze nose faring and you've got a stylish Yamaha triple with the same bones.

Too old for the XSR 900 at 29 years old. 49 years old here and been riding the XSR 900 on long days just fine 😀

The Suzuki is more of a match up to the MT10 which in that case I'm going with the MT10.

minha 09 ta marcando de media 5,6 l - 100 km ,..mas ja consegui 5,3 ,.. mas detalhe , ta em rodagem ,..... a moto tem 600 km rodados ,..ou seja , nao me parece mau consumo pra uma moto nova de quase 120cv e 900 cc ,..e pelas performance q oferece ,.. contudo o consumo vai depender do piloto, mas ja deu pra ver q esta maquina é bem eficiente e conseguimo rodar em 6 marcha as 2800 rpm de forma lisa ,...
You might or might not like how it looks but either way nobody can deny its a mess, Exhaust and front mudguard are horrible and none of the main parts gel with each other.
My next bike was between this and street twin,triumphs mess up of the update means its the mt09 for me

Why does yamaha sell that bike with n exhaust that looks like it was found in a junkyard when the rest of the bike is so premium?
i dont like the frame and the tank. the frame is ordinary and the fuel tank is ugly....i think
I found the riding position too sporty and uncomfortable, the MT10 was much better for me

@@stefanhansen5882 there are sound limits now with exhaust systems, so Yamaha is getting creative with providing some additional sound to the rider. It actually works.
