    I'm really glad I've seen this video. This is a question I asked a different youtuber a few weeks ago and didn't get that particular part of the question answered. I'm going to make my pond bigger next year, from a small moulded one, to a liner with good underlay. I have a camelia bush and a spirea bush that I wanted to know if it would be best to remove ,because of the root risk. So your thinking these shouldn't be a problem then. Thanks for sharing this !

    I have an acacia tree that's 20ft tall growing 3ft from my pond, the pond has been there next to it for 13 years with no issues ;)

    What’s a good liner that will push the roots into another directions?

    • @thep0ndman
      @thep0ndman  Год назад +1

      Tbf it’s the weight of the water that does it. But the best all round is 0.75mm greanseal rubber by Gordon low and a good underlay

    I'm building a pond next to a lemon tree. I was planning on digging a trench and putting a root barrier in to try to block the roots from reaching the pond. Do you think this is not necessary?

    • @thep0ndman
      @thep0ndman  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the comment. If anything just use a proper heavy duty pond underlay on the actual pond itself. No need for the trench etc. thanks for the comment

    Roots can be a menace. What’s your opinion on bottom drains?

    • @thep0ndman
      @thep0ndman  Год назад +1

      Yes they work well. We did a video on bottom drains but mainly on the pipe thickness. 4” is fine providing you are pumping a lot of water otherwise 3” prob best

    Hi which food is the best for feeding koi a friend told me pallets are just a money making for the big brands and just give them what we eat what do you think
    many thanks

      @thep0ndman  Год назад

      Hi Andrew we like the natural approach, bloodworm etc things they eat naturally but quite expensive that way. Pellets are good I guess but there are many different types, cheap versions can be like cheap dog food full of rubbish but it depends how much you are willing to spend thanks for the comment

    • @thep0ndman
      @thep0ndman  Год назад

      If it’s only 400 gallons or 1800 litres a 2” with easily be fine. Recommend to filter for approx 4000 litres to be safe cheers for the comment

    Great video - I have now subscribed to your channel!
    I planted a weeping willow about a 1500cms from a small pond. We used a proper pond underlay. I have been told I should move it, would you disagree? Thanks

      it should be ok, im presuming there is fair bit of water to provide a good weight on the liner?
