- Building a small pond doesn't have to be difficult! Watch this video to see how we did it.
Partially sunk rocks are the way forward if you do not want to faff around trying to perfectly level your pond. The water does it for you!
Put a few plants in this small wildlife pond and it will look even more stunning in full bloom!

Your commentary is fantastic

ANOTHER GREAT JOB--WELL DONE !!
Cheers!
Wow looks great compared to how it was! Do you always use the same gauge liner or does the ground condition influence your choice?
0.75mm or 1mm ideally for the larger jobs!
Interesting cement work...I know it's a long shot but could you do a video on how to repair cracks in a pond. Ours is a painted concrete pond which has a lower water capacity due to some cracks which I'm thinking of trying to fix. Not sure if I should use cement or fill with flexible epoxy putty and then repaint.
good idea, i will see what we can do! thanks for the comments!
Fill with a mix of cement and lime and fine sand
Thanks, I fixed it last year but it developed more cracks in a couple of weeks. I’ll try the lime and fine sand method and see if that lasts longer.
How long do you leave cement before exposing the pond water to it. I know that over night is a rule of thumb for cement setting but I worry that it leeches out harmful chemicals into the water for quite a while afterwards.
To be fair a small amount of cement may only take a few days, it depends on how much and weather etc. we use a waterproofer that helps aswelll thanks for the comment
@@thep0ndman thanks for the reply, I looking into building a pond of my own so gathering info to help.
Have you ever tried "old English" or "V" style of pointing./\ ?
It sheds rainfall fast and makes big joints appear smaller.
Yes like that too thanks for the comment!
What was the waterproof liquid you added to the mortar? Could you share a link for the product you used?

Mat ..
Here’s to local! 👊
I watch a lot of pond building RUclips vids and have built 8 during my adult life in different (though amateur) styles. Although the pond here has been smartened up to the eye with its stone edging, it seems to be lacking plants, rock, soil, branches, and almost nothing for wildlife to get in and out of the pond (perhaps the Customer was going to add these). I appreciate there are several different ways to build ponds, suggest watching ‘ Wild Your Garden’ vids by Joel Ashton and any Team Aquascape vid. Also, concerned about the cementing - hope the waterproofing liquid stops lime from the cement being washed into the ponds.
Customer will add plants etc to naturalise
