Thanks Chuck for sharing these videos. Fuel Altered's have always been a fan favorite class, the drivers are absolutely insane (in a good way!), unbelievable driving skills and a pair the size of Texas to herd those unpredictable, short wheel base hotrods down the 1320 and keep them (mostly!!) somewhat straight. Most of us have perhaps seen them in real life only once or twice in our lifetimes but we'll never forget the aroma of nitro, the sights, the incredible sounds and the air pulsations that hit us hard in the chest and gut as one of these nitro and alcohol burning beasts pass by. Videos like yours take those of us who have experienced the thrills and those perhaps who have not (but really need to add to their bucket list!) take us to the track to enjoy. Thank you and Thank RUclips for allowing us the pleasure of witnessing mechanical mayhem at it's best.
I would like to find some video from the late 90's there... We went out the back door at 250+ and we must have had 40 spectators show up to give a hand getting the car back out on the track.. Always a great experience there...
Chuck, ever heard of the Alaskan grizzly Altered? One of the fastest Altereds around, I know he raced at night fire years ago, watched him match race legend altered drivers Ron fosses in the Pepsi altered and Rikki Rios in the Nevada rattler at Alaska raceway park, close to sea level and cool air run a 5.75 275 mph pass!
I think trere's a couple cars runnin bout 70% but we all know if it's going with that pulsing idle it's straight alky.I actually talked to a couple guys when i was wanting to purchase one.I was told with a good tuneup you could get about 25-30 passes before a bottomend rebuild running 60-70%
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the women of drag racing - I don't know if it was gogo day or what but dadgum there's nothing sexier than a hot chick lining up a fast car.
yup, need some focus lessons and not rely on auto-focus. every tome the car is down track...out of focus. us old folks learned how to follow focus in the good old film camera days, its not hard to do, drives me nuts all these auto focus out of focus videos!.
I hope you are better a keeping a clearer picture,now, and not so blurry, suggestion turn off auto focus, and stay on top of it by manually focusing the camera, you are getting better thanks BigAl California.
Fuel altereds and funny cars: takes some real cojones (male or female drivers) to drive these things. All that horsepower fueled by what amounts to rocket fuel, plus the driveline between your legs close to the ahem: tender parts. No thanks. I'll watch.

By the way, I was at this race, only bad part was it was so damn hot! Cars didn’t run good until the evening sessions.

I raced top fuel harleys in the early 90's you can tell which cars are runnin like 70% nitro and the guys runnin like 92-95%,Fuel altered is bad ass!
these cars sound like about 20%! No flames out the pipes or crackle from the Zoomies
