      Really though looks can be deceiving! Until you get up close and look at an old car you don't know if it's full of rust. It could be a complete shitbox with a fresh paint job, I mean he is drag racing it! It could be nice though!

    If the outside car was staged one car length ahead of the inside car it would be a better race. 👍🏾

    Everyone thinks that the older cars are bigger cars....well no, actually. I thought that too. I mean Lincoln Continentals yeah, they're ginarmous, but compare the Mustang with the Nova.
    I personally thought a Chevy Nova would be bigger than a Mustang.

      With all the features that modern cars have, they weigh so much more than classics. Back then it was sheet metal and engine blocks, now the captain seats in my Suburban with cooling, heating and motorized adjustments, weighs like 65 pounds. Side curtain airbags, 22 inch factory wheels, infotainment system. Safety and luxury use up every bit of all of the advancements in engine efficiency.

    If I were on the outside, I would've pulled down behind the nova and worked my way under him. Why is he trying to pass on the outside? And it should be two laps, not one with a 4 lap show down.

    You put the good handling car on the inside. Of course the bad handling car was going to scare the mustang into the wall. This was caused by lack of thought.

    • @Impactjunky
      @Impactjunky 3 года назад +1

      @@maximumhardcore4362 Nope they actually drive better than a lot of modern cars do. A new 2021 Charger weighs over 4300 pounds and my 68 Plymouth Satellite Roadrunner which is the exact same platform as a 68 Charger only weighed 3417 stock. That's nearly a 1000 pound difference in the old cars favor. A 69 Camaro Z28 weighs about 3200 pounds stock and a 2020 ZL1 Camaro weighs about 3900 pounds stock. My 73 Mustang V8 weighed 3200 pounds stock and a 2021 Mustang V8 weighs 3750 pounds. As you can see in this race slightly stiffer suspension and low profile tires aren't going to make up for 700-900 extra pounds of weight.

    • @maximumhardcore4362
      @maximumhardcore4362 3 года назад +4

      @@Impactjunky I’m going to disagree with you for sure. On the subject of weight, there’s no denying the older cats are much lighter. Handling/driving wise though, it’s no contest. Take any old stock muscle car and put it to the newer ones on a road track, slalom, or skid pad and it’ll eat the old car up. I’m not even going to bring up the braking aspect. Sure, the old cars can be made to handle insanely awesome but keeping this apples to apples, stock vs stock it’s not even close.

    • @Impactjunky
      @Impactjunky 3 года назад +3

      @@maximumhardcore4362 That's some nice guessing on your part but I've already been out and done what you said. I've been daily driving and playing at tracks with a 68 Satellite Roadrunner for over a decade and I can tell you from experience it handles better than most modern vehicles and it didn't even come with the optional heavy duty suspension package. Suspension is all stock apart from a set of stock replacement shocks that cost about 40 bucks a pair. It was known as one of the best driving muscle cars of its day. The Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird dominated NASCAR so unfairly with its superior handling and top speeds that it got banned from competition. The only major differences in my Satellite Roadrunner and a Roadrunner Superbird are a spoiler and a nosecone. The body structure and suspension are all the same. After putting new shocks and tires on it my car instantly drove better than my two friends autocross projects. It will never turn as tight at low speeds as my friends stripped down, coil over, factory 4 wheel steering Prelude did, but it has more actual grip and stability at speed. My other friend with a coil over, X braced, roll caged 5.0 Mustang autocross project couldn't believe my completely stock poorly maintained full size muscle car could pull more Gs than his much newer race car project he had been throwing so much money at.

      You're full of crap, if they handled better they'd still make them that way.
      All anyone with a brain has to do is look up the lateral acceleration rating on late 60's cars and today's, modern cars smoke those old cars in corners.
      If what you're saying was true SCCA race teams would be running those cars.
      You're not even a good liar, a good daydreamer but not a good liar.

    Factory suspensions are set up for oversteer to make drivers back off the throttle before they lose control.
    This person's instincts were overshadowed by the fact he believed his car was, because it is a Mustang, that it would handle better than it can.
    Stock car race cars are set up to understeer for handling reasons.
    It is all science of handling.
    Oh! Yea! Tires also.

    • @dukecraig2402
      @dukecraig2402 2 года назад

      OMG, you let off the throttle in a corner in an oversteer car and it'll spin out for sure, you want to give it throttle and turn the wheel slightly into the direction of the corner, that pushes the car through, you take your foot off the throttle and the rear end just keeps coming around.
