Definitely implied in the books. They share a room in book 12 and the Beatrice Letters includes the line "until C realizes that S is not worthy of his love"
Wait, I knew everything about Sir and Smogface and Charles with The Beatrice Letters and TPP, but had no idea R. (The Duchess) was lesbian. Where is this implied?
As a kid I grew up reading these books and they were one of my favorite book series and still are. I really enjoyed the first season and looking forward to the second season.

I read the books (i actually anticipated in waiting for the last book 'The End' when it came back in 2006!!! & 'The Hostile Hospital' book was kinda hard to find in the public library so i bought it back then too.. now i know why😄) & watched the movie in elementary school & now just done watching the TV series as a working adult now...😄😄for both the movie & TV series, they are just accurate adaptations of the books! If only there were the sequels for the movie one back then👍👍
Christine Oriol not to the extent of the show though, the movie was a closer portrayal of how Snicket was in the books, a shadow, a cameo never explicitly shown
actualy the books seemed to imply Snicket was narrating all the events as if they happened long ago, since he mentions it as "The Baudelaire case" and often mentions he searched for things that were lost in the books (like Josephine's house or the carnival's trailer), implying his presence is future to the events of the Baudelaires. The series kinda mix it together, with the same narration stating "it happened long ago", but having the actor showing up mid-scenes, although without actualy interacting to anyone.
plus he always calls the story "The Baudelaire case" and he is "investigating it". I also remember once or twice he describes how he couldn't figure out something entirely or how hard was to get evidence of something that happened, strongly implying he followed the baudelaire's trail an unknow amount of time after their events happened.
Ergotth I know this is late but I also believed that Snicker was from the future. Mainly because of the little things he says, like how he said in season 2 that he, himself went to visit Lucky Smells after it had been closed because of the fire that happened during the time the Baudelaires were there. But I got very confused when we saw that Snicker was in a past memory that we saw of the secret organization that had many past characters, like uncle Monty and aunt Josephine ( it was the part when everyone was trying ,discreetly, to get the note that said "Olaf knows" to Snicket ). If you have any thoughts or theories could you share, or if I missed something really important could you explain?
L Moore It was Beatrice, the mother, but she died sometime around The Slippery Slope or The Grim Grotto. Search her on the SnicketWikia, it's a lot more detailed.
L Moore Yeah, there was one hint from The Austere Academy, and then there were 2 letters in Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography that indicated Beatrice survived the Baudelaire fire, but she died in another that occured between TSS or TGG, and page 13 of the Snicket file from The Hostile Hospital was actually referring to her. I sound like such a nerd lol
Having read the books at least twenty times since middle school (senior in high school now - still reread them) I was surprised that I wasn't upset with any changes made and really enjoyed them.
I watched the show first, and am currently reading the books (I just started Penultimate Peril and really enjoying them), and so far, I don't mind most of the changes either
I read them ages ago, whilst they were still coming out, and had such an affinity for them. I loved loved loved them. Whilst some of the details are hazy for me, I remember the general plot. I too wasn't mad at the changes, I think because they really had that whimsical theme that's kinda outside time and location. The series really got the feel of it for the most part, it had great stylistic flair
I loved the books. I like the aesthetic, soundtrack and style of the film better, but the television series is way better story wise, so I guess the TV show is my favourite of the two. But I was kinda disappointed about Sir's face being shown. It would be such a unique visual if he had stayed always behind a puff of smoke
Filmflicker Cinema probably a little to hard with their budget. They already get critiqued on their CGI (I don't mind it) that they didn't want to put it to something that could be spared without TOO much disappointment
Yes you're totally right. However it didn't necessarily have to be CGI, a cigar prop that gives off too much smoke would be cool, then just a bit of CG enhancements to cover up more.
@@FilmflickerCinema I was also thinking that but then I thought maybe they're worried it will affect the actor's health or the actor disagreed to smoke too much just to stay with the 'veiled in smoke' description. Even I will have issues if I have to sniff smoke in each take all the time.
I like how they added more backstory with the guardians, the movie just rushed through them in my opinion, I just rewatched, and I didn't think the first time that the 2 children on the other side of the chair that Klaus and Violet sit in are from the other family that have the same unfortunate event of a fire burning their house down, though It looked like they were still in the house. they have a spy glass too according to the scene AND the new trailer. I wonder what the four of them will get into :)
I know you guys talked about the first 4 books but a honorable mention is in The Carnivorous Carnival, The books, Madame Lulu tells Count Olaf where the Baudelaires are. But in the show, Madame Lulu helps the Baudelaires.
I literally just finished reading the 13th book an hour ago and I can't believe I didn't catch all the hints dropped in season 1 of the show (which I watched right after I read book 4 and before I started book 5). When V.F.D. came up in book 5 I kept trying out phrases to match the acronym - oblivious to the fact that I'd already heard the words V.F.D. stands for in season 1! :O Right after I closed book 13, I went on Google to see how popular the book series really is and if there's companion books (there is!), and if ASOUE is available in my country too because I'd never heard of it prior to the Netflix show (I borrowed the books from my sister who had them shipped from Amazon UK). I found out that the books have been freaking DISCONTINUED in my country! You can only purchase the translated versions used for like a hundred bucks per book! The books have never been a "thing" here, even back when they were being released. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? They seem to have been majorly popular everywhere else in the world, why not in Germany?? ****************** MINOR SPOILER FOR BOOK 12 Charles and Sir are in a romantic relationship in the books, too. Lemony Snicket not only very strongly hints at it, but he actually describes them holding hands and he explicity says that they shared a one-bed hotel room.
Also I just saw how in episode 1 Count Olaf can't find the sugar bowl which is a GIANT easter egg. If they said it in the video, sorry, I'm only half way through it
ellenkingsley It was Beatrice, but she ultimately died around the 10th or 11th book. Search her on the SnicketWikia, there's a really good explanation of it. :)
Something tells me Beatrice Baudelaire(the children's mother) survived the fire escaped went into hiding and she met up with Quigley Quagmire they make it to the slippery slope but Beatrice dies in a fire Quigley joins the scouts to track the Bauedlaires
Olaf Is Looking For The Sugar Bowl For His Morning Coffee And The Woman In Season 2 Is Looking For A Sugar Bowl Lemony Stole In Was In The Hospital Connected I Think (This comment is old and my English is just embarrassing :)
"Is this about the children? I apologize for the noise i told them to cry using their inside voices." XD Comedy Gold And "Me? Im just having my morning coffee, although I can't seem to find the Sugar Bowl" Esmé's pronunciation of sugar bowl is golden with her British accent
Jae Pencil Same. Yes, it's inaccurate to the first 3 books, but I love how it was directed, and it's visually more appropriate. Not to mention the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, and I loved the cast, especially Jude Law as Snicket. The Netflix series (so far) is just too comedic, and the aesthetics, direction, acting, casting, and music were just bad. Yes, it's very accurate, but that isn't enough for me. :/ But I see why people like the show better. Besides, season 2 looks better.
One difference that I'm shocked you didn't mention is how Violet ties her hair differently. Although it may not be stated exactly in the books, on the covers we can see she ties her ribbon on like a headband. In the show adaptation, she ties her hair back into a ponytail. Also in the books, she constantly has her ribbon and never seems to loose or misplace it. In the show, she gets different replacements. This difference is minor yet I still think it's crucial.
10.The Miserable Mill's backstory 9. The Spyglass 8. Sir and Charles' partnership 7. The Baudelaires run off 6. Josephine's redemption 5. Jacquelyn 4. Attention to Mr. Poe 3. Lemony Snicket's presence 2. V.F.D. 1. The Baudelaire parents survive (but not really) Honorable mentions: Sunny's wit, Yessica Haircut, The Incredibly Deadly Viper's fate
I broke down when they revealed the parent twist! I knew that their parents were dead in the book but it brought me so much comfort knowing that these parents were trying so hard to get back to them only to reveal that the Beaudelaires were truly alone. It was so well done despite leaving me quite broken-hearted
I’m so happy the tv series stayed true to the books. Yeah it’s not perfect but they did a great job pleasing fans who read the books and making it easy to get into for non-book readers.
In later books it implied that one of the parents may have survived but its also another red hearing that may pop up in season 2. The spy glass drove me nuts because it only showed up in the slippery slope in one chapter.the baudeliers running away was such a brilliant move when i was reading the books it drove me nuts that me pie sent them too the mill but for season 2 with the cold village poe sending them to the village made no sense but i do think it was them going to the village does work since it was a vfd location. Snicket does give many clues in the books about being love with the beaudilers moms. Also the incredibly deadly Viber will be back in the end.
PRO TIP: If you want to read the books and watch the series READ ALL THE BOOKS FIRST because the series does SO SO much foreshadowing you will pick up spoilers.
xD I remember in the wide window part 2 when the set of parents flew over the Baudelaires I kept crying "those are your own children. GO DOWN THERE NOW!!!"
When it was revealed that the parents weren't the Baudelaires's parents I had to pause to allow myself to sob hysterically for five minutes. I mean amazing plot twist but it broke my heart to realize that no one was coming for them
@@averymcfadden1490 He is talking about the Madame Lulu BEFORE the one that died, the 1st madame Lulu is Kit Snicket and the one that died is Olivia Caliban
I've recently finished all 3 seasons, and I never caught that Lemony literally mentioned the actual name for V.F.D. in the first episode, holy moly, that's cool.
You forgot one HUGE change: the entire plot of The Carnivorous Carnival was altered. In the Netflix series, Olivia Caliban was a caring protagonist and VFD member who was thrown into the lion pit by Count Olaf. In the books, she was a greedy villain and Olaf lackey who fell into the lion pit due to being outsmarted by the Baudelaires. Also, in the books, Olaf found out about the Baudelaires' disguises because Caliban told Olaf, while in the Netflix series, Olaf figured it out on his own.
I feel like when Lemony Snicket said “He read the sentence over and over. He read the sentence over and over.” Snicket should have said it once and then Klaus should have said it.
While the spyglasses didn't have a role in the Series of unfortunate events, they are referenced in the unauthorized autobiography, and in the All the Wrong Questions. I think the creators of the show are using all the books that are a part of the universe, not just the one series.
I couldve swore with the 4th book, it was that Sir and Charles adopted the Baudelaires because even Poe was surprised at the end to find out they were made to work in the Mill
I loved that twist at the end of season 1, in the back of my mind I was thinking: No way, no way, no no no no no no NO NO NO NO WAY!! What IS this?????? They're ALIVE??? Then the twist happens and I'm like: Holy crap, they had me going for a few hours lol
"although I can't seem to find the sugar bowl" I didn't read most of the books (which I've been meaning to do) but after watching the second and third seasons of the show I finally get that line! Lmao
Actually, the VFD is everywhere in the books, the same volunteer fire department line is in the books too, in fact, the first fifteen minutes of the show are word for word with the books!
Another one is in the Erastz Elevator, in the show the they make a pretend hot air ballon, but in the book they make a pretend rope to get down and elevator shaft.
In the book, when Count Olaf dies, Sunny, because she is so little, starts mourning for him. I wish they would have included that in the show, however I understand why they didn't.
10: I actually appreciate that the workers were hypnotized by Dr.Orwell in the Netflix version. It just made no sense whatsoever that they would be so complacent for being paid in coupons and fed gum for lunch. I don't appreciate Count Olaf and Dr. Orwell being romantically involved though! 9: I really don't get why the eyeglasses are so focused upon. You only ever found one spyglass in the entirety of the book series. 8:Outside of now having Sir's face completely exposed not to mention being much taller not really a change from the source material. 7: It was out the Bauldelair's character though! I can't imagine them straight up abandoning M.r Poe and besides Poe had no idea they were going to be forced into labor at the mill. 6: They pretty much made the exact opposite of the Josephine from the book. I actually like the movie more for Meryl Streep being a near perfect portrayal of Aunt Josephine and staying the tragically flawed woman she was supposed to be. 5: I don't mind her. VFD was a large organization so she may as well had been an unseen member. The spy subplots are still weird though. 4: M.r Poe well meaning yet foolish but in the show he feels too stupid, giving the kids less care than he did especially in the 3rd book's adaption. 3: Again I prefer the movie here. In the film Lemony Snicket stayed a mysterious narrator who was never directly shown. In the books it states that in every picture Lemony Snicket hides his face, but in the show he's seen right in the open and at times his acting is over the top and jarringly goofy. 2: Another thing that annoys me. VFD is supposed to remain a secret for over half the series and they straight up drop the name Volunteer Fire Department in the first episode. I did like that I got to see Gustave while he was still alive. Even though he died getting shot and Count Olaf still said that he drowned him. HM1: She was way wittier in the movie. HM2: Just one joke/coversation that wasn't in the novel? How about the fact that Olaf's troupe is less cruel, much goofier, and around Count Olaf more often? HM3: Kinda ruins that heart wrenching farewell, cause the siblings think they'll never see the Viper again while he's getting taken away by Bruce. 1: My number 1 pet peeve out of this show. Yes the twist that the Baudelaire parents were actually the Qaugmire Parents was a good one, but for book fans it was downright infuriating to watch those scenes. Especially the part when they were flying over the children and Aunt Josephine teasing the idea they might rescue them. I liked this show but they're are parts like how ridiculous it was that Aunt Joshine's home fell due to a melon and not cause of the storm, and the bad CGI, acting way too calm Sunny that made me miss the Jim Carrey movie. Luckily Season2 will be a completely new slate! Here's hoping.
Although it is just a small mention. I have read the books a few times and didn't catch it when I saw the series. If they flat out said V.F.D=Volunteer Fire Department I would have been mad but I like this.
As someone who didn't remember the books at all I didn't know what VFD meant until they revealed it in Carnivirous carnival. I think it just supposed to be an easter egg. Those who don't remember/have not read the books would not have picked it up
I don’t understand how you can prefer any aspect of the movie to this show. If you do, you can’t have read the books at all because the movie is so. fucking. INACCURATE.
The hook handed man telling violet that count Olaf was gonna wreck her face... Yeah the troupe was more cruel in the books, how are these children's books?
I was in third grade when I started the series, and I remember my friend watching me read every day, and ask me why i didn't finish the last book, because every day I brought in a new one😂😂 she couldn't understand that I was finishing them every day, and then starting the next one in the morning😂😂😂

Wait, I knew everything about Sir and Smogface and Charles with The Beatrice Letters and TPP, but had no idea R. (The Duchess) was lesbian. Where is this implied?
Very Firmly Dedicated fans. I see.
Very Firmly Dedicated indeed
very fitting description
Or Volunteer Fire Department
Number 8: The romantic relationship between Sir and Charles is also suggested in the books.
SIR seemed more cheap in the books for connecting in book 4 of not paying his workers and in the 12th book he would pay less for a room with 1 bed
As a kid I grew up reading these books and they were one of my favorite book series and still are. I really enjoyed the first season and looking forward to the second season.
kaitlin Hamilton a few more hourssss
Same but when I was the tenth book Covid hit so I couldn’t go to the Library so I’m reading it again
Finally the show is getting some recognition
Star Child I know right 😍😍😍
I know, for a while I thought that even Netflix had forgotten about what with that Kimmy Smits show and House Of Cards/Kevin Spacy shit and everyone falling in love STRANGER THINGS and MCU/NETFLIX hero shows getting more attention, right??
Star Child ikr
Star Child
Its a TERRIBLE show
Star Child
Don't you mean books
Man I remember reading this series in elementary school. I’m about to graduate high school.
I am confused
In my country it goes
Nursery (kindergarten I think)
Primary school
Secondary school
I dunno what’s next probably university
And then maybe college but it might be the same thing
@@thunderbolt64_ Elementary school in the US is equivalent to Primary school I believe. I think university and college are the same thing.
If only there were the sequels for the movie one back then👍👍
"While not overt?"
Not overt? Bruh, Sir and Charles's relationship was as subtle as a brick in a tumble dryer.
Sketchy Bughorse and as dark as a crow flying in a pitch black night
SIR seemed more cheap in the books for connecting in book 4 of not paying his workers and in the 12th book he would pay less for a room with 1 bed
It flew over my head as a child, and children were the intended audience in a way. Or at least they were part of it.
Why would young kids read such s dark series?!?!🤨😩😞😔😡
In the Beatrice letters Lemony briefly mentions to her that 'S is bad for C, and he needs to leave as soon as possible.'
Mr poe in the show is way too annoying
hes also rlly annoying in the books as well.
Not rlly but y is it annoying?
I meant is he sorry
*Mr Poe, is meant to be annoying, it's about how adults never listen to children.
Oly1y the lemony Snicket in this is way more annoying
The friendship of between Sunny and Fernald!!! Easily the most endearing part of the show!
lemony snicket interacts with the environment in the books as well.
Ergotth
I know this is late but I also believed that Snicker was from the future.
I won't lie, when they pulled that whole surviving parent twist, it was probably one of the biggest "Fuck you's" that has ever been pulled on a show.
Lemony Snicket is.....Kronk?
Smiler Advocate Mika Yes, it's Patrick Warburton, who also voices Joe on "Family Guy". Knew his voice sounded familiar!
And Coach from Kim Possible.
I wish they recasted Jude Law for the part. :/
Clarissa Cota Yes, it would be a nice throwback to the 2004 movie, but I also like Warburton's take on the character.
Caitriona Quigley I personally didn't. Idk, it just wasn't how I pictured Snicket at all. But hey, to each their own. :)
In the books it is hinted that maybe one of the parents is alive.
L Moore It was Beatrice, the mother, but she died sometime around The Slippery Slope or The Grim Grotto. Search her on the SnicketWikia, it's a lot more detailed.
Clarissa Cota thank you, I did read all the books, but it was a few years ago, so I remember some details, and others I forget.
Clarissa Cota, Everyone has a subject that they are ‘nerdy’ about. Everyone, and I mean everyone is a nerd in SOME way.
L Moore Well, this series is what I'm all about lol
When Josephine screams at the mirror is literally me when I see a mirror
Some things translate from the page to the screen and some things don't. But if you keep the the spirit of the books your in good shape.
Cameron Luer What is wrong with you? Why do you feel the need to insult everyone?
@Cameron Luer theor literally right...
Yeah, just read the books
I know you guys talked about the first 4 books but a honorable mention is in The Carnivorous Carnival, The books, Madame Lulu tells Count Olaf where the Baudelaires are. But in the show, Madame Lulu helps the Baudelaires.
Addie C, she tried to help the Baudelaires in the book too. But she got eaten buy lions.
This video was made before Season 2 was even released.
Right after I closed book 13, I went on Google to see how popular the book series really is and if there's companion books (there is!), and if ASOUE is available in my country too because I'd never heard of it prior to the Netflix show (I borrowed the books from my sister who had them shipped from Amazon UK).
******************
MINOR SPOILER FOR BOOK 12
Charles and Sir are in a romantic relationship in the books, too. Lemony Snicket not only very strongly hints at it, but he actually describes them holding hands and he explicity says that they shared a one-bed hotel room.
Also I just saw how in episode 1 Count Olaf can't find the sugar bowl which is a GIANT easter egg. If they said it in the video, sorry, I'm only half way through it
I meant book 1
SPOILER: I’m kind of upset that Jacquelyn isn’t Kit Snicket (she appears in the last episode of season two)
I adore the books. The world is quiet here.
glen savrtka *quiet :)
I meant quiet, oops! Love this series read each book twice!
In the books the Baudelaires believe that one of their parents is still alive but come book 12/13 we aren't given that information
ellenkingsley It was Beatrice, but she ultimately died around the 10th or 11th book. Search her on the SnicketWikia, there's a really good explanation of it. :)
I thought I knew everything there was to know about these books. Somehow I never saw that part. It makes a lot of sense,
But then again it’s a show and that’s probably not going to be the same or that accurate. And honestly in the show I hope Beatrice doesn’t die.
Beatrice did survive but in the snicket file they were talking about quigly quagmire
Something tells me Beatrice Baudelaire(the children's mother) survived the fire escaped went into hiding and she met up with Quigley Quagmire they make it to the slippery slope but Beatrice dies in a fire Quigley joins the scouts to track the Bauedlaires
Olaf Is Looking For The Sugar Bowl For His Morning Coffee And The Woman In Season 2 Is Looking For A Sugar Bowl Lemony Stole In Was In The Hospital Connected I Think

I love that song
"Is this about the children? I apologize for the noise i told them to cry using their inside voices." XD Comedy Gold
And "Me? Im just having my morning coffee, although I can't seem to find the Sugar Bowl" Esmé's pronunciation of sugar bowl is golden with her British accent

Thank you. From me and all other Snicket super fans.
Thank you for making our day.
Still better than the movie lol
Lol
musty I actually prefer the movie over the series
Jae Pencil Same. Yes, it's inaccurate to the first 3 books, but I love how it was directed, and it's visually more appropriate. Not to mention the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, and I loved the cast, especially Jude Law as Snicket. The Netflix series (so far) is just too comedic, and the aesthetics, direction, acting, casting, and music were just bad. Yes, it's very accurate, but that isn't enough for me. :/ But I see why people like the show better. Besides, season 2 looks better.
Movie > series. Still looking forward to season 2 though.
Clarissa Cota season 2 better be. I honestly wasn’t impressed
Despite the differences, Season 1 was excellently done and Season 2 was even better.
Yay, so excited for the second season!
Caitriona Quigley sameeeee
Caitriona Quigley yas!!!!!
Season two is coming March 30th!!
Lunastarplayz Ha ha, I used to get that all the time as a kid when we read the books in school!😂Helps that I also have two brothers! 😊
Lunastarplayz I was actually nicknamed "Isadora",for a while, and my brothers "Quigley" and "Duncan", all the more reason to love the books! 😀
10.The Miserable Mill's backstory
9. The Spyglass
8. Sir and Charles' partnership
7. The Baudelaires run off
6. Josephine's redemption
5. Jacquelyn
4. Attention to Mr. Poe
3. Lemony Snicket's presence
2. V.F.D.
1. The Baudelaire parents survive (but not really)
Honorable mentions: Sunny's wit, Yessica Haircut, The Incredibly Deadly Viper's fate
“I told them to cry with their inside voices” there for the best line of the show
I broke down when they revealed the parent twist!
I know season two came out way after this video, but Olivia is way different and way better in the Netflix series
You forgot a difference, ones a book series and the other is a TV series. The more you know :).
So excited that i could cry, the wait was very unfortunate
These books literally taught me how to cook pasta, and quickly became addicted to puttanesca sauce
Thanks so much for making this video! The books are incredible and the show is really great so far too. I can't wait for season 2 on Friday!
Thanks Walt! :)
Tomorrow
xD I remember in the wide window part 2 when the set of parents flew over the Baudelaires I kept crying "those are your own children. GO DOWN THERE NOW!!!"
When it was revealed that the parents weren't the Baudelaires's parents I had to pause to allow myself to sob hysterically for five minutes. I mean amazing plot twist but it broke my heart to realize that no one was coming for them
I didn’t realize this was a sad occasion.
Honestly I don't care how much they changed, that show will always be a favorite for me.
Season 2 left on such a cliff hanger cant wait for season 3
mora was her same!
JANUARY 1!!!!!!!
Ikr... I already read the books that season 3 is based off of but I wanna see what they make it look like!!
Hey guys here I am after season 3 😢😢😢

Yes, Lemony actually having a part in the show is very beneficial to people liking it.
Show: Dr Orwell falls on fire.
Book: *Dr Orwell crosses the way of the saw*
I remember reading this in third grade since then I've been in love with this series. It helped me reach my goal in AR reading thing.
THANK YOU THANK YOU AND THANK YOU!
Grayce Pittman hi
I read all the books in one semester of school in 4th grade, I was so addicted that when it ended, I began crying. It was such a great series.
I’m 90% sure that the previous Madame Lulu is Kit Snicket.
Nope
I agree, because at the time i am writing this the show is finished and i saw proof
@@averymcfadden1490 why not?
lil ems if u finished u will know madame lulu died? Right? I’m just saying finished too
@@averymcfadden1490 He is talking about the Madame Lulu BEFORE the one that died, the 1st madame Lulu is Kit Snicket and the one that died is Olivia Caliban
“2 pieces of bread stuffed between a sandwich” Omg😂
0:39--0:46 Klaus: we know what spoiler means🤣🤣🤣
I've recently finished all 3 seasons, and I never caught that Lemony literally mentioned the actual name for V.F.D. in the first episode, holy moly, that's cool.
I really love when ferald (HOOKY) is being freindly to Sunny Baudelaire
He read the sentence over and over.”
Snicket should have said it once and then Klaus should have said it.
In both the movie and Netflix series, when The Incredibly Deadly Viper strikes...it always gives me a good startling jump in my heart, haha!!
While the spyglasses didn't have a role in the Series of unfortunate events, they are referenced in the unauthorized autobiography, and in the All the Wrong Questions. I think the creators of the show are using all the books that are a part of the universe, not just the one series.
"Know that there will be spoilers. A word which here means-" **expains spoilers**
Me: **tries to do a Klaus impression** We know what spoilers mean.
I hate when they do that in the show so much.
I thought Sir and Charles might be together in the books too.

I loved that twist at the end of season 1, in the back of my mind I was thinking: No way, no way, no no no no no no NO NO NO NO WAY!! What IS this?????? They're ALIVE???
Then the twist happens and I'm like: Holy crap, they had me going for a few hours lol
Can't wait for season 2 of A series of unfortunate events to be on Netflix.
Abram Sullivan it's already out for me
I watched it all in a day today.
Abram Sullivan i watched the full season yesterday. It’s so good! But I’m sad that season 3 is the last season because it’s such a good show😭
Abram Sullivan it has thr biggest cliffhanger ever lol
Evie Loreen wait but shouldn’t season 3 finish the series completely or no? Like do they skip the last book or something
I read these books as a child and loved them. After I saw the show’s trailer I was so hyped and I looooove it!
"although I can't seem to find the sugar bowl"
I didn't read most of the books (which I've been meaning to do) but after watching the second and third seasons of the show I finally get that line! Lmao
Actually, the VFD is everywhere in the books, the same volunteer fire department line is in the books too, in fact, the first fifteen minutes of the show are word for word with the books!
“Is it the children I apologize I told them to cry using there inside voices” (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)
Another one is in the Erastz Elevator, in the show the they make a pretend hot air ballon, but in the book they make a pretend rope to get down and elevator shaft.

OMG am I the only one who didn't realize this part of the TV series until I rewatched it?
0:48
HE MENTIONED THE FLIPPIN' SUGAR BOWL!
AHHHHHHH I’m so excited for season 2!
In the book, when Count Olaf dies, Sunny, because she is so little, starts mourning for him. I wish they would have included that in the show, however I understand why they didn't.
10: I actually appreciate that the workers were hypnotized by Dr.Orwell in the Netflix
version. It just made no sense whatsoever that they would be so complacent for
being paid in coupons and fed gum for lunch. I don't appreciate Count Olaf and
Dr. Orwell being romantically involved though!
9: I really don't get why the eyeglasses are so focused upon. You only ever found one
spyglass in the entirety of the book series.
8:Outside of now having Sir's face completely exposed not to mention being
much taller not really a change from the source material.
7: It was out the Bauldelair's character though! I can't imagine them straight up
abandoning M.r Poe and besides Poe had no idea they were going to be forced into
labor at the mill.
6: They pretty much made the exact opposite of the Josephine from the book.
I actually like the movie more for Meryl Streep being a near perfect portrayal
of Aunt Josephine and staying the tragically flawed woman she was supposed to
be.
5: I don't mind her. VFD was a large organization so she may as well had been an
unseen member. The spy subplots are still weird though.
4: M.r Poe well meaning yet foolish but in the show he feels too stupid, giving the
kids less care than he did especially in the 3rd book's adaption.
3: Again I prefer the movie here. In the film Lemony Snicket stayed a mysterious
narrator who was never directly shown. In the books it states that in every picture
Lemony Snicket hides his face, but in the show he's seen right in the open and at
times his acting is over the top and jarringly goofy.
2: Another thing that annoys me. VFD is supposed to remain a secret for over half
the series and they straight up drop the name Volunteer Fire Department in the
first episode. I did like that I got to see Gustave while he was still alive.
Even though he died getting shot and Count Olaf still said that he drowned him.
HM1: She was way wittier in the movie.
HM2: Just one joke/coversation that wasn't in the novel? How about the fact
that Olaf's troupe is less cruel, much goofier, and around Count Olaf more often?
HM3: Kinda ruins that heart wrenching farewell, cause the siblings think they'll
never see the Viper again while he's getting taken away by Bruce.
1: My number 1 pet peeve out of this show.
Yes the twist that the Baudelaire parents were actually the Qaugmire Parents was a
good one, but for book fans it was downright infuriating to watch those scenes.
Especially the part when they were flying over the children and Aunt Josephine
teasing the idea they might rescue them.
I liked this show but they're are parts like how ridiculous it was that Aunt Joshine's home
fell due to a melon and not cause of the storm, and the bad CGI, acting way too calm
Sunny that made me miss the Jim Carrey movie.
Luckily Season2 will be a completely new slate! Here's hoping.
Yes the name VFD was dropped at the end of the 5th book but you
don't start to properly learn about VFD till the 9th/10th book.
No.1 was actually hurtful and disgraceful how they end season one.
Abram Sullivan the song??
The hell?
I'm just having my morning coffee but can't seem to find the sugar bowl...
Who else got that reference 😂😂????
Me
