For the people wondering, why Olaf waited so long to get his revenge: he didn‘t. When you see the flashback of the party in the VFD headquarters, Lemony receives the message „Olaf knows“. He is the only one who understands the message because he is the only one who knows what happened at the opera. The message means that Olaf figured out it was in fact Beatrice, not Lemony, who killed his father. You then see Olaf pushing Beatrice down the balcony. For Olaf, she was dead and he got his revenge. Barış Demir, yeah, he did really well. He kind of convinced me a little bit. I honestly think the Baudelaires didn't really give enough detail on what terrible things he did
@The Milkman in the grim grotto they had said that the step dad had left and never came back but in the book he was there for the first couple chapters
and even when it wasn't (it was made on a smaller budget for each episode than the movie, which worked well for it) it was convincing and authentic enough to make you invested in there version of the story. In fact in some aspects, it even improved on the books. The tone of the series was more charming and lighthearted as the comedy which can be dark translates better on screen. It was more similar thematically to the spin-off series about Lemony Snicket being on the lam than the books themselves, and it was all the better for it.
Did you notice the reference in s1 ep2 Klaus: i know your up to something Olaf: im just having my morning coffee although i cant seem to find the sugar bowl
Did anyone realize that Lemony Snickey gives us the answer to ‘what is VFD?’ in the first episode when he says that the volunteer fire department couldn’t come in time.
R.I.P Kit Snicket Count Olaf Uncle Monty Gustav Larry Beatrice Olaf father Jaques Snicket Olivia Caliban Baudelaire parents Quaqmire parents The freaks Josephine Ike Dra. Orwell And Dewey :(
i thought it was because when he first met count olaf his house was gross, dusty and grimm. so whenever he was right next to olaf (disguised or not) he would cough horrendously
I thought it was a nod to that mycelium (idk how to spell it) disease, I mean I'm sure it didn't spread to the mainland but it was like foreshadowing that it existed
I wish it ended with the Baudelaires and the Quagmires reuniting because Vioet had a thing with both Quigley and Duncan and I want to know who she chooses.
Lemony talks about how “he doesn’t know if Violet and Quigley ever Visit the mountain again,” during the part where they are separated. Idk why and I have no proof but this makes me think that she has a stronger bond to Quigley.
You forgot to mention the fate of the REAL villains of the show, the Poe's. In the diner during "The End" the cover of the Daily Punctilio says "Our Last Edition: Daily Punctilio Shut Down for False Reporting" and a picture of Mrs. Poe behind bars. This also hints that the Baudelaire's names may have been cleared once word got out that the stories were fabricated.
@@sarahh2799 Well he technically was since Olaf actually stopped and was hesitating to shoot Dewey and then Mr Poe came out and interrupted and the harpoon gun was dropped, killing Dewey.
Don't be ashamed about crying for Olaf's death, his backstory was truly heartbreaking. I mean, he himself was an orphan. And don't get me wrong, I in no way think Olaf's crimes where justified. He still had freewill to do what was right. But Olaf chose to go down the path of darkness, simply because it was easier and "more fun". Still, Olaf's story is one of great tragedy and loss. So mourn. Mourn for him. Mourn because his way was a lost one... and in his life's end, still yet was he. 😭💔 👁️🕵️ Btws, I just finished the series about an hour ago and it practically broke me in half with how heartbreakingly beautiful it was. The show was full of very fortunate disasters that helped lead the Baudelaires closer to learning the truth of VFD.
I actually didn’t realize Kit was played by Alison Williams. She did great. Also, this may just be me, but i feel like this show is a celebrity “Where’s Waldo” situation: You see a face, or hear a voice, and you think, “I know that person! Where have I seen them before.” 😂
count olaf was one of those antagonists that made you laugh so you liked him. not in a defensive way but in a funny way and when he died it just seemed like an empty hole because he had such a great personality, even if his intentions were bad. i feel like he had some part of him that was nice and he was brought up to be this way ...?
Laia Maguire just how I feel! I can’t believe they just killed him off. I thought he would become good and go off the island with them and then they would split their ways or stay together. It was sad and unexpected, I just wish they didn’t do it
He was not too far gone, evidenced by when he hesitated to kill Dewey saying "It's all I know how to do..." (in the book he asks "what else can I do?"). But he continues because he believes he has gone too far down the path of wickedness and he has no hope of being noble anymore.
I died when: Olaf: Why don’t we just give her back to her real parents? Esme: We burned their house with them inside. Carmelita: What? Esme: Nothing. Who else chanted cake sniffer in their mind after this! 🤣😂🤣😂
Honestly I liked the ending in the Tv series more than the book ending, which is definitely a first. Instead of leaving everyone's fate unknown they gave some characters a happy ending like the Quagmires, the troupe, the Baudelaires, Fiona, etc. The TV series did an amazing job at adapting the books and honestly made it better in some ways. I liked that they stayed true to the book too in most ways as well. There are a few unanswered questions though like what happened to the people in the hotel? We only really see Justice Strauss survive.
@@arkalt4066 The Baudelaire fate, along with majority of the characters fate, in the book is unknown. I don't hate the book ending, I just prefer the tv series ending because it tied up some loose endings, gave certain characters a good ending, and stayed true to the novel as well.
I really love that the Quigley triplets were back together again, Fiona and Fernald united with Captain Widdershins. But I’m really annoyed that we don’t know what happened with Esmé and Carmelita, and the main thing that stings me the most is that we never know what happened to the Baudelaire’s. And Beatrice II doesn’t count because she wasn’t really relevant to the story unlike the other three
The thing I don’t really get is that everyone was saying that there was still one parent alive who survived in the fire and that just burned out later in the episodes of season 3. I dont get why it died out.
To quote Snicket himself, Violet Baudelaire has to visit Briny Beach a third time in her life. So it's almost certain that the Baudelaires wound up arriving there after leaving the island. After that, what happens to them is left up to interpretation, but by that point the people causing the unfortunate events are almost all dead. So they have peace at least.
I want another season or some kind of spin off to find out what happened to the Quagmires and if they ever see the Baudelaires again. Also, I want to know if Violet chooses Duncan or Quigley because she liked both of them and they both like her
so many people are debating on who should date who with the baudelaires and the quagmires and the only way i can work out with everyone dating someone is if we have violet + quigley and klaus + isadora and duncan + fiona. ik this is stupid but so many people are going on about it and i never felt like fiona and klaus like each other as much as i feel isadora and klaus did plus i really ship isadora and klaus. but no one has to date anyone im just saying this to end the debates. and also im not sure about who i ship more with violet but i decided i like quigley more. and im just saying again none of them have to date this is just an idea.
Kara Payton no. I don’t think it would be a smart idea. For people who read the books and grew up with them, we have all the answers to the Quagmires, Esme, Carmelita. And some other characters in
In the books, there are more answers to what happened to them but it's still a mystery. Basically, they were about to be abandoned at Sea, but Kit saw the Great Unknown take them, it's unsure if it saved them or kills them
I found that the last episodes felt very rushed, i don't know it was just a bit of an underwhelming ending to me. I still love the series and i'm sad it's over though.
Exactly those last few episodes were way too rushed atleast compared to the rest. I am probs only saying this coz I want there to be more episodess! IAMO so sad
@@masha-fr4bm It's not just that, but the whole series has had a slow build up of story while the last episodes were so rushed. It would've done better with 2 more episodes.
I completely agree! Like there was 4 years between the cafe and them leaving the island. What happened? Did they reunite with the Quigleys? What happened to everyone at the hotel? Who died? Who survived? Did they go back to the library at the hotel? Did the man with no hair and a beard and the woman with no beard and hair live? What did they do? We got so many answers but it created so many more questions. Should have been at least a few more episodes. :(
( I made a second verse ❤️) When we bequeath to you our mysteries We bequeath to you our fears The line between good and bad is fading And the world is quiet here
@@CV-Moore I mean like, esme might have been unreasonable but they actually had no reason to want the sugarbowl itself, when they could have taken the content and keep it safe. Plus I noticed that when the sugarbowl was stolen, they left some cubes on the table. Why? If the content's so important, why did they leave it behind? I think we weren't told the actual truth about that sugarbowl.
Look away, look away There’s nothing but horror and inconvenience on the way Ask any stable person,”should I watch.” And they will say, “look away, look away look away look away look away.
Three children lose their home and go to live with someone awful. He tries to steal their fortune in a plot that's not quite lawful. It's hard to fathom how the children manage to live through it, or how a decent person like yourself would even want to view it....
Ok but we are not gonna talk about the fact that Olaf said “all I had to do was stroke your ego” to vice principal Nero and then he replied “yes but I thought you was stroking my.....my..... violin” 💀💀💀💀 ICONIC
I still have many questions about the story it’s unfinished to me. How did the Bouldelaries spend their life without Count Olaf to track them down? How did they separate from Beatrice? What happened to the man with a beard but no hair and the woman with hair and no beard, is it possible there were still after the orphans fortunes. What happened to the kids kidnapped on Mount Fraught? Where are the Quagmires? Is VFD still a thing? Did Mr. Poe sort the kids out. I know every series does not answer all the questions revolving around it, but there are too much questions. Even if the books are finished the series can go on. I know they showed Beatrice Bouldelaire many years after but to complete the series Lemony has to say “You might be wondering why the Boulderies are separated from Beatrice” and begin to explain. This makes no sense, Lemony’s life work was dedicated to tracking down the Boudelaires and even so we don’t know where they are. I want CLOSURE.
What happened to Esmé and Carmelita? Did they die in the laundry room? When Count Olaf broke up with Esme she said this is not the last you’ll see of Esme Squalor.
I was saddened by the ending but I think it was still amazing and I’m glad it ended this way !! I loved the hook handed mans character development !!!!! Overall was so great ❤️❤️
Bianca Petersen the episodes were based off the book series. In the books the hook handed man we find out his name is fernald and he had a stepsister .
Its not exactly clear that the Quagmires are safe. Although we do see the 3rd Quagmire triplet reunited with his siblings, we have to remember that Kit used the submarine to answer a distress call from the self-sustaining hot air mobile home. Perhaps they are reunited, but we don't know if they are safe seeing as though Kit mentioned at the island that she did not manage to reach them
In the books after they are reunited the balloons are popped by birds and they crash into the ocean and are eaten by the great unknown. The distress call could have been made as the balloons were being popped. If that's the case then they are very dead.
slauter 19 the books were written years ago. it was very much implied that the triplets along with hector were killed after falling out of the mobile home and possibly getting eaten by the great unknown/bombinating beast.
There’s a code in the companion book about something that happens after the series ends that when you reveal it says “two sets of friends just out of reach will meet again on briny beach” So that’s presumably the Baudelaires and Quagmires... So they survived
I feel like the show isn’t over. like it can’t just end like that. they should make a spin-off based on all the wrong questions or make an original series that is just explaining the founding of VFD or after they sailed back
I would love a spin off based on All the Wrong Questions called "The Snicket Files"! It would be great if the episodes were longer, and it only lasted for a single season. A more adult take on VFD would be cool, and some good closure from the series, though it is unlikely that'll ever see the light of day.
I appreciate how they showed the Baudelaires happy ending together as a family and the quagmires reuniting as a family. I glad they steered away from romance. genuine romance is far too unbelievable at their ages and made me cringe. I'm happy they kept the main point about family and friendship
I agree! There was some insinuated romance but they kept it at that and I love that. They were just young teens so yes it would’ve been unbelievable and steering away from the relevance which was indeed family and friends
GUYS so I was rewatching the seires after I finished season 3 and in the episode where they are with aunt Josephine the Baudelaires got a taxi ride and the taxi drivers name was ISHMAEL and he said "You can call me ish" AND I WAS SO SHOOK!!?!?!
Ok, PSA Beatrice didn’t fall in love with the Baudelaire’s father until after the schism. That’s why Lemony was so shocked when kit told him that she had died. After the night at the opera, Lemony went into hiding, and that’s when Beatrice would have met her future husband. Because they both chose different sides of VFD, Kit and Olaf obviously broke up and she probably met Dewy sometime after that. Olaf and Esme seemed to have just gotten together for the sake of it, since they were on the same side of the schism. For everyone else asking why Olaf waited so long for his revenge, it seems as though he (a. needed time to think of an idea/ wait for the schism to settle down, or (b. he knew that they were wealthy and wanted their fortune, and he knew that would be easier to get once they had children in their will. Also it is never really proved that Olaf started the fire. Even though this show is full of twists and turns, Olaf burning the house down seems the most likely. Hope this was helpful xx And obviously this is just my opinion haha
I have read the books, and I know that the Quagmires supposedly fall into the ocean, into the great unknown where they supposedly die. But I wish that they did wind up meeting the Baudelaires again and continue VFD with Beatrice, but hey, that's not how the story goes. (Edit) Maybe it will happen since the VFD message in the Incomplete History said: "Two sets of friends just out of reach, will meet again on Briny Beach"
Kinzie Carr when they first talk to Kit on the island, she says that Fiona, Fernald, The Quagmires and her found the great unknown, she managed to escape in the book boat thing
Honestly they need a prequel, like how cool would it be to watch the events of VFD play out ? Like we could watch way back when VFD were still working together and all that aha.
I like how at 2nd episode of season 1, when Klaus comes to talk to Olaf in the morning Klaus said: ,,I know what you are up to" and Olaf said: ,,Me? I am just having my morning coffee, *although I can't seem to find the sugar bowl* ." We got so many hints so early. Also in 1st episode Lemony said that neither Offical Fire Department or *Volunteer Fire Department* could get there in time to stop the Bauldalaire fire.
Lemony Snicket was more caring, and even says to Beatrice he'll still love her even if she married someone else, and had that person's babies. The reason Snicket wanted to help IS because he would genuinely care about his lost love's children. So, Lemony Snicket being the healthier, good side of things, I'd choose his side. Snape was only loyal to Lilly for the sake of his crush/obsession, and not her well being. He also lashed out at Harry, while Lemony I feel would not.
I started watching this with my daughters just as a passive thing in the background. I ended up pushing them to watch one more episode every night before bed..lol

Fun fact: Mr. Poe's coughing fit was symbolism to indicate that he can't take care of himself, let alone the baudelaires
I always thought him coughing all the time was from being around the smoke from the Baudelaire fire
i thought it was because when he first
met count olaf his house was gross, dusty and grimm.
so whenever he was right next to olaf (disguised or not) he would cough horrendously

Finished season 3 in one day. And strangely, I cried when Olaf Died

Laia Maguire yeah, maybe because he was a member of vfd before the schism.

Wait, what?
Honestly I liked the ending in the Tv series more than the book ending, which is definitely a first. Instead of leaving everyone's fate unknown they gave some characters a happy ending like the Quagmires, the troupe, the Baudelaires, Fiona, etc. The TV series did an amazing job at adapting the books and honestly made it better in some ways. I liked that they stayed true to the book too in most ways as well. There are a few unanswered questions though like what happened to the people in the hotel? We only really see Justice Strauss survive.
I agree. A lot better than the movie.
I’m fine with the open ended ending and the more complete ending.
Um...no one knows what happened to the Baudelaires
How did justice Strauss get off the roof?

I think all the the guests in the hotel died

so many people are debating on who should date who with the baudelaires and the quagmires and the only way i can work out with everyone dating someone is if we have violet + quigley and klaus + isadora and duncan + fiona. ik this is stupid but so many people are going on about it and i never felt like fiona and klaus like each other as much as i feel isadora and klaus did plus i really ship isadora and klaus. but no one has to date anyone im just saying this to end the debates. and also im not sure about who i ship more with violet but i decided i like quigley more. and im just saying again none of them have to date this is just an idea.

I won’t cry if the other gets sick but not SUNNY! THE BABY MUST BE SAFE!
For a second my heart was racing and thought Sunny could die.
same i literally stopped watching it for 2 months jus before they found her cure and i thought she was gonna die
Danandbands No don’t do that it’s too dark for 2019 they survived and that’s that. You can’t kill the children in this show NOT TODAY
The Confusion shhhhhhhh let us have one good thing
slauter 19 the books were written years ago. it was very much implied that the triplets along with hector were killed after falling out of the mobile home and possibly getting eaten by the great unknown/bombinating beast.
There’s a code in the companion book about something that happens after the series ends that when you reveal it says “two sets of friends just out of reach will meet again on briny beach”
So that’s presumably the Baudelaires and Quagmires... So they survived
I feel like the show isn’t over. like it can’t just end like that. they should make a spin-off based on all the wrong questions or make an original series that is just explaining the founding of VFD or after they sailed back
That's great I was thinking about a spin off for the quagmires
i think thats the point tho
I would love a spin off based on All the Wrong Questions called "The Snicket Files"! It would be great if the episodes were longer, and it only lasted for a single season. A more adult take on VFD would be cool, and some good closure from the series, though it is unlikely that'll ever see the light of day.

Beatrice didn’t fall in love with the Baudelaire’s father until after the schism.
Hope this was helpful xx

So on a scale of Severus Snape to Lemony Snicket, how obsessed are you with your lost love's offspring?
Lemony Snicket was more caring, and even says to Beatrice he'll still love her even if she married someone else, and had that person's babies. The reason Snicket wanted to help IS because he would genuinely care about his lost love's children. So, Lemony Snicket being the healthier, good side of things, I'd choose his side.
Snape was only loyal to Lilly for the sake of his crush/obsession, and not her well being. He also lashed out at Harry, while Lemony I feel would not.
