@msmojo you missed the most important one of all! In the last episode when the inhabitants of the island show what they have found, one reveals a sea monster statue, referencing to Snickets other series; 'All the wrong questions'
There's also a brief moment where justice Strauss says "that's why this night is different from all others" In penultimate peril a reference to the final book in all the wrong questions 'Why Is This Night Different From All Others'
@@isaiahortiz8061 No that's a reference to a Jewish holiday called Passover One of the traditions is reciting the four questions, the first of which is "Why is this night different from all other nights" Lemony Snicket is Jewish and he references Jewish traditions often in his books. It was a pretty good season, but the books ending was a more unfortunate ending, as the quagmire brothers are probably dead, and the future of the baudelaires its uncertain
With the Ishmael bit, in the wide window, the taxi driver says “call me ish*mael*” and in the penultimate peril, he tells vice principal Nero to send his regards to the principal, and Ishmael from the end or the last book *is* the principal. I think I’m getting on to something here...
Idk if anyone has mentioned this: In the last episode, when the islanders show washed up items, one of them holds a black statue which (in my opinion) is a reference to lemony snickets book series : “all the wrong questions” where this statue called bombinating beast plays a major role in all four books
Another Easter egg is in the vile village when they are looking to at the books in the hot air balloons library there is a over head shot and in the basket laying there you can see a few copies of the series of unfortunate events books.
Lolo Meissner that’s actually another book that was mentioned during the last season. I forgot what it was called but they designed the cover after ASOUE.
There are SOOOOO many fun and funny little Easter eggs in the show. I love how ti references adult humor but also, like the books, really hits home it's moral and literary messages to kids. One Easter Egg I can think of from this is how the orphans walk into the other side of the Island where all of those washed up items are. They leave the simple and ignorant and primal willingness of the castaway cult and walk into a trove of items of science and learning and knowledge and life experience. All the items are sitting under a large tree. When the orphans are sick with the MM they believe they are going to die. They are talking of giving up "what's the use" and are only cured by eating an apple from the tree. The MM represents, ignorance, injustice, stupidity, sloth and all the "fires" of the world. The tree represents the tree of knowledge (like in the Garden of Eden) and the children must east an apple from the tree so they can come to their senses, and overcome the "poison" that is ignorance, injustice, stupidity, sloth and all the "fires" of the world, spreading and slowly infecting everyone. Hats off to Daniel Handler for creating such an amazing and poignant story that not only teaches children about literature, it teaches them about life. What other neat Easter eggs, references and deeper meanings can you all find?
I LOVED that reference. It's also kind of funny how if it weren't for the apple (which signifies waking up from blissful ignorance), the baudelaires and the inhabitants of the island would have ended up dead. Ishmael only put the people on a boat because he wanted to prove their unquestioned faith to him, but it's obvious that they were going to die sooner or later if it weren't for the snake. Ishmael is just a false prophet trying to take advantage of the stupidity of his people. And the apple was supposed to show how they were going to "wake up" from the ignorance that almost doomed them. Man, I love this show.
I was waiting for a new video on the series!! Three thoughts (SPOILER ALERT): 1. I did notice some of these references and it adds to how well the books were written and the series adapted them 2. I felt like an especially important one was at the end when Lemony meets Beatrice and they reference the Beatrice Letters, but that may go back to how Season 3 has several references to the Bad Beginning 3. I definitely hope that they actually do adapt the Beatrice Letters!! It would be wonderful to see more of what happened to the Baudelaires, the Quagmires, the Widdershinses & the Snickets (which is really just Lemony & Beatrice now) and what they've done with VFD!!!
The first time I saw Esmé's outfit I saw it was like Ursula How do you miss that Also how do you miss the "in jail for bank robbery" one And the one where Kit uses the wings that Beatrice used
You missed another "Barry" reference where a pinhead was on the side of a tent in the Slippery Slope and had the name Barry. I loved this show so much. I remember absolutely despising the movie for its awful interpretation of my favorite book series. So happy at how true they stayed with the tv show.
Just finished watching season 3 today! Absolutely amazing show and one of the best Netflix shows ever! So well timed since this list only just came out now but still brilliant!
This show is a masterpiece in my opinion. Lemony is a literary genius! So many references in both the books and series. I loved the books when I was 10 and I continued to love it as a tv series AND a movie as a 22 year old. Great story, cast, directing, and production team 👏🏼 Thanks Lemony Snicket aka Daniel Handler for this wonderfully dark series.

I also noticed that in the Hostile Hospital one of the signs for the directions was ‘Terrible snake bite’ or something like that, hinting to Monty’s death
in a Hostile Hospital it said on the list of people, " Man with beard (leader of V.F.D)" and they could also be referring to Ishmael who in the series is the founder of V.F.D.
Littlest elf land is actually a reference to the movie, At first its a scene of a little elf running around and playing and then it goes dark. Remember?
one thing you missed is lemmini said you can pretent that the woman at the door is the duches of wenapeg AND SHES THROWING A P O N Y P A R T Y mr.poe had the book a pony party
Great series. Let's not forget the blatant references in the End regarding Ishmael, opiate for the masses, the snake and the apple tree and going against the rules.
I thought I was the only one who noticed the opium of the masses one. Seems like a message Daniel Handler might try to convey (which I appreciate) but he's denied that it was his intention.
I love it how they have the ASOUE books in Hectors book collection (10:02). Also, it confirms that Esme's costume was based upon Ursula in The Incomplete History of Secret Organisations book.
I thought they would include 'Friday', the girl on the island. To me, this looked like a reference to the book 'Robinson Crusoe'. (apologies for potential spelling/grammar mistakes)
ok hear me out. so you’ve seen Beatrice, but at the end of the show when it flashes back to the Baudelaire parents before violet, klaus, and sunny sail away. the siblings parent, Beatrice look exactly like the Beatrice that lemony was in love with. The little elf is a reference to the movie since the beginning shows the little elf and it’s a reverse A Series of Unfortunate Events
Barry also appears on a poster at Caligari Carnival as "Barry the Pinhead."
I also noticed that in the Hostile Hospital one of the signs for the directions was ‘Terrible snake bite’ or something like that, hinting to Monty’s death
Spoiler....
The saddest bit for me was when Olivia died.. She was one of the best characters
I saw all the items from the past episodes before, it’s just really cool to see how far they’ve gone.
Ikr I’m surprised that big, heavy, crow fountain got all the way to an island like that
in a Hostile Hospital it said on the list of people, " Man with beard (leader of V.F.D)" and they could also be referring to Ishmael who in the series is the founder of V.F.D.
The girl looks like a brunette Sabrina carpenter
I have watched the series 3 times already! Lol
Littlest elf land is actually a reference to the movie, At first its a scene of a little elf running around and playing and then it goes dark.
Remember?
I loved #2!! That was very intriguing. Edit: Never caught that one when I watched it. Thank you Ms. Mojo!
one thing you missed is lemmini said you can pretent that the woman at the door is the duches of wenapeg AND SHES THROWING A P O N Y P A R T Y mr.poe had the book a pony party
It was also in Hector's book basket in his self-sustaining mobile home
I’m happy we all love the show
"The Littlest Elf" May also be a reference to the opening of the film version on A Series Of Unfortunate Events.
Sonnenfeld also plays Ike Anwhisle in a flashback
I thought that the baudelaires and the Quagmire's will have a reunion and Klaus would finnally leave Fiona and go back to my bae Isadora.
Yessss
I know Fiona was good but she irritated me...
Plot twist: the voice over is count Olaf in disguise
Great series.
Let's not forget the blatant references in the End regarding Ishmael, opiate for the masses, the snake and the apple tree and going against the rules.
I thought I was the only one who noticed the opium of the masses one. Seems like a message Daniel Handler might try to convey (which I appreciate) but he's denied that it was his intention.
Which massage?
in 2:49 in this vid did anyone notict you could see count olaf in disguise and Georgina Orwell.
I love it how they have the ASOUE books in Hectors book collection (10:02). Also, it confirms that Esme's costume was based upon Ursula in The Incomplete History of Secret Organisations book.
The snake at the end was the incredibly deadly viper. You forgot that
I'm so glad they followed a lot of the books, even the end
This show is badass change my mind.
Carmelita: I’m a ball playing cowboy superhero soldier pirate!
I am not calling you that, Carmelita. You are a literal cakesniffer. I watched you stick your nose in a cake, you are a cakesniffer.
Amazing easter eggs from an amazing show
Does anyone remember about at the end of Matilda she says "Call me Ish" which is SOOOO COOL!!!!!
The director's painting is also in the scene of the restaurant in the Hotel Denouement!
I legit cried when the series was over.
WHO DARES TO INTERRUPT A GENIUS WHILE HE’S PERFORMING?????!!!!!!
love the book love the series , I enjoy this series so much
I thought they would include 'Friday', the girl on the island. To me, this looked like a reference to the book 'Robinson Crusoe'. (apologies for potential spelling/grammar mistakes)
They did include Friday.
These books were a huge part of my childhood, I loved them- so glad that such a great adaptation exists now!
I really just want them to release a fourth season as a surprise. I don't care what it's about I just want it back. 😭
I cried like 10 times during the whole series
the 89 people who disliked the video are a bunch of cake sniffers
2:30 there's one more he's on a sign in the carnivorous carnival
My favorite Easter egg was when Carmelita said “A pony party for me”
"YA HA PICKLE HO"🤣
Am I the only one who refused to watch the last episode because they don't want to accept the fact asoue is over so they rewatched the entire series
I really like these easter eggs. can you make more?
ok hear me out. so you’ve seen Beatrice, but at the end of the show when it flashes back to the Baudelaire parents before violet, klaus, and sunny sail away. the siblings parent, Beatrice look exactly like the Beatrice that lemony was in love with. And it also mentions that if violet was a boy, her name would’ve been lemony... so i think Beatrice survived her “death” and turned out to be Beatrice Baudelaire... 🤨🤫🤔
Interesting
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS WOWWW
I wish they were gonna make a season 4 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 rip me...
I wish but they can’t because they arent anymore books for the series
I have found another one! In season one is episode 5. Larry says to Jaqueline
‘I thought we weren’t due at the mountains til the end of the series.’ And at the end of the series they at the mountains 😀.
Did you notice how the apple tree feels like a homage to the garden of Eden's tree of knowledge. Hell the viper is in the tree.
