- I noticed they don't really fight over the phone much in the telltale games... but hey, at least they let max answer it again lol
EDIT: dang, just realized I forgot one in 104 (that scene where they briefly fight over a phone in the whitehouse), sorry about that.
Whenever Sam answers the phone it's like he's skipping through the commissioner's dialogue.

i do this in every mmorpg and wonder why i'm always lost
Earlier in Season 2 episode 5, Sam said that Hell would have to freeze over before he can let Max answer the phone, this does happen. Made me giggle when it actually happened.
Wait what happens I'm confused
@@thesourlemongoober hell freezes, dummy lol
Sam and max season 2 ep 5
Spoilers
They go to hell to try and rescue boscos soul as well as other characters who died in the past season/episodes and during the final episode of the game sam says he'll would have to freeze over before max could answer the phone and later on it did and when a phone rang in hell max got to pick it up.
If that's not showing good Sportsmanship and being fair on his word, I don't know what is. I'm just glad Sam even lets that happen, and it nice.
The end of season 2 was actually epic and with the series' focus on comedy I really didn't expect that.
Some of their friends and foes actually die, they travel to Hell to rescue them, they learn Hell has an entire hall with souls and statues of Sam and Max dedicated to them as they are more or less responsible for those deaths, which the Devil appreciates (and the music in that area is awesome, too). Sam and Max are presented the fruits of their life's work; something imposing yet atrocious. As far as Hell is concerned, they were always on the side of evil. Harsh stuff, but they manage to turn the wheel. They rescue every soul, defeat the big bads and cause Hell to freeze over in the process.
That episode actually made me feel. Not just because of the epic-comedic presentation and Sam and Max being made fully aware of and standing for their actions, but it warmed my heart so damn much when they rescued not just their friends, but also all their enemies. And everyone, even the bad guys, were invited to Sybil's wedding. I know it's probably intended for laughs first and foremost, but I'm pretty sure I shed a tear.
i love sam literally beating max to a pulp to get to the phone and then realizing he doesnt like talking on the phone
When you’re competitive but also awkward
hey, i’m really sorry if this is rude, but is that the lesbian flag in ur pfp? if so, why is it upside down? again i’m rlly sorry if this is disrespectful but i keep seeing it everywhere and i can’t find anything about it :’)
@@terezi3558 it is and i just. edited it upside down by accident bc i made my pfp myself

S: ''But Max, you don't even like girls!''
M: ''Yeah, and you don't like talking on the phone''

I love that fact that Sam let Max answer the phone because they just caused hell to freeze over.
Just as likely as he was gonna officiate sybils wedding to abe
Where’s the time stamp for that one?

I like how it implies in the end that The Commissioner is aware of how much they love fighting over who gets to answer the phone.
And how many of those times it was Sam who won.
Kinda wholesome that the only reason they ever really fight is over who gets to answer the phone. Friendship goals right there
““Friendship””
@@thatjojolesbian they're obviously just great "roommates"
@@kindasnowy8852 oh my God they were roommates

I like how they completely brutalize eachother and then instantly go back to talking like normal
I love that the commissioner thinks Sam isn’t there when Max answers the phone because he answers it every single time
I was wondering always when Max will get his chance.
He actually does. He gets one chance with the telephone in an official piece of Sam and Max media (Without Sam being hypnotized or time-altering shenanigans).
He did! In the video game when hell froze over Max got to answer the phone😂
He'd just be like "Yeah... Uh-huh... Mhm... Up yours too buddy!"
Sam: "Who was it Max?
Max: "The commissioner!"

The alternate timeline (Cartoon)
Hell freezing over (Telltale Season 2)
I find it especially funny that Sam clearly just wants to get to the phone first just to mess with Max. He never seems like he’s absorbing what the other person on the phone is saying
Is Sam afraid of Max saying something inappropriate to the commissioner or is he just being competitive?
Honestly? I think it's both lol
They just want to be the first to answer the phone. Just playful fighting to get to it first
Max probably doesn’t have the short term memory span to remember what the commissioner has to say, so it’s probably for the best
@@ghostshark680 Max does have the memory of a brain damaged sardine
He said I love you too to the commissioner once, that's probably why
All of Max's reactions when he finally picks up the phone are amazing, when Max picks up the phone in the first clip, he has this cute little excited smile. When Max flinches from expecting to be stomped on, then goes into relief from *not* getting stomped on, it's cute and a great detail. And when Max picks up the phone in the game, Sam just smiles as Max goes and gets the phone, and Max's slight surprise when Sam doesn't get it.
I love these details.
You where kinda wrong about the second one was in a time travel episode where after time travel junk happen sam got separated from max, he was sad that Sam didn’t bother to fight him for it like normal
@@tyronecrossman5014 Yeah, I like that too.
since max himself has said he likes pain (maxochist, am I right?), I'm sure that sigh was more disappointment than relief lol

I like how max is disappointed when he gets the phone, because its canon that violence is his form of affection.
Hit me again. I like it.
Remember people, fighting is max’s love language, he hits things he loves and likes to get hit, this is canon, and this is them flirting and no i will not elaborate further because they are canonically a married couple.
To be Sam and Max is to be closer than marriage.
Correct statement.
Damn wish I had that kind of relationship...
@@REISEBOFFI so every time a phone rings you wanna get thrown at a wall, have your skull crushed and then thrown out the window? hell yeah

And so it did
Their cartoon was great, it was a travesty that it was cancelled, and the show got good ratings and mostly positive reception as well
did it get cancelled by cancel culture or the other kind of cancelled?
@@czerky1091 I don’t know why it was cancelled so soon but it definitely wasn’t from cancel culture
@@czerky1091 why would it be canceled by them if Sam and max are very gay
Technically it wasn't cancelled, it just wasn't renewed for additional seasons. Apparently there's a difference.
Will i watch a dog and a rabbit fight over the phone for 3 minutes?
yes, yes i will

yes
I love how Sam possesses the power to text-skip.

Yes. Once I accidentally picked up my rabbit liked that and she kicked me in the face like that. Lol
Couples have things they like to do together some like a long walk on the beach others prefer and romantic candlelit dinner ,And quite a bit just like watching a movie and snuggling in a comfy warm blanket. Sam and Max like to fight over the phone
Iirc somewhere they did mention that they also like long walk on the beach (I think its sam and max hit the road though Im not so sure)
1:09 IDK why max yelling "mine" is so funny to me
I love how Max gets slammed into a wall and all he reacts as is, "Ow!"
This gonna be a weird idea but can do a complication of family lore or whenever they bring up their relatives.
I'm pretty sure 3/4 of it would be sam bringing up his granny ruth lol
BUT I do vaguely recall Max mentioning his dad and his violent tendencies once in the games, though I don't remember the episode where this is discussed (or the season, for that matter)
I think it's a cool idea, but it will take me more time than usual to make a video about it (still making it tho!)

The two best ones in my opinion are the one from hit the road cause the animation is awesome and the one from the time travel episode cause max being super disappointed sam didn't go for it says alot

I’m pretty sure if Max ever actually answers the phone too many times the fabric of reality will dissolve. So Sam has to maintain the universal balance by never letting him answer the phone.

This reminded me of an episode of Animaniacs where the Warners have to be the CEO's secretaries for the day, and throughout the episode, Wakko could never get the phone. So that makes Wakko and Max kindred spirits as they could never get the phone.
