Hi everyone!!! I just thought I would clear up some things that I’ve seen a lot of people asking about: This series is called Sam & Max. It’s a media franchise which first began as a series of comics, before expanding into video games, a cartoon, and lots of other stuff. The song that plays at the end is called ‘4:59’ by Jared Emerson-Johnson / Bay Area Sound. It’s from Sam and Max: What’s New Beelzebub (205). The clips at 1:53 , 11:50 , and 16:44 are from the audio commentaries recorded for the Telltale Sam and Max games. The people speaking in these clips are various members of the team responsible for creating the games (you can find these on RUclips). Yes! In the cartoon, Sam has the same voice actor as King Koopa. They were both voiced by Harvey Atkin. (In the Telltale games Sam is voiced by David Nowlin, and in Sam and Max Hit the Road he is voiced by Bill Farmer)

There's a trope where a character prevents another character from being as dangerous as they could be. It's called a morality chain. I.E. if character A has the potential to become incredibly dangerous but B stops them, B is A's morality chain One of the titular characters is the other's morality chain and you're probably wrong about which is which and this fact is so insane to me considering how they normally are.
At first I thought there were going to be no actual gay moment and it was just two friends well being friends, but the evidence doesn't lie and I'm so glad sam and max invented gay people.
The "I like my coffee like I like my men, green" line is even better for this video than it might seem at first, because it has been stated before that both Sam and Max are colorblind, making green and brown look the same. And notice how Sam is brown? Yeah, subtle but I would find it hard to believe that it wasn't intentional, especially with how well thought out all the jokes in this series are.

One thing I'd love to add, there's an official Valentines Day art where Sam has his arm around a female dog and they're both sitting on a bench. A cupid Max has fired a couple of arrows through Sam's chest and Sam is visibly lovestruck....At first you may think it disproves Freelance Husbands, but if you look closer at the picture, it's not the female dog Sam is looking at. He's looking at Max. Plus, in a Reddit AMA by one of the Telltale developers, when someone asked if Sam and Max were dating or married, they responded that their relationship "transcends petty notions of dating and marriage". These two are so obviously soulmates

It was between Mao Mao and Badgerclops, and folks were busy being shippers and all, saying that they're like a cute domestic couple. Which, to be fair, it makes a bit of sense to believe that when those two are raising a kid together and live in the same house and do other domestic things with each other. But Parker, he randomly swooped in and said that they could "ship them if they liked," but went on to say that he went out of his way to write an affectionate male friendship because he's apparently never seen such a thing in cartoons before. (Ed edd n Eddy, Fosters, etc, they have stuff like this all the time) He finished off his comment by saying that portraying such a relationship is "more important", implying that a gay romance isn't as important. Needless to say, it landed him in hot water with lots of fans.
"I love you Hugh Bliss" "Hi I'm not Hugh Bliss" "I HATE you" This entire exchange made me laugh probably cause of how bluntly he says it after gushing over him.
The writers may say it, but the creator says he likes to leave it up to the interpretation of the people. Either way, I see that there’s no possible conclusion other than that they are a couple.

Prucell the original creator leaves it up to the audience to interpret, and Telltale have definitely taken advantage of that for many such good memories with the two characters.

With all the gay-shippings here, this is actually a thing that would make the most sense to me. Sam is bi and Max is...I would say most of the time he's aromantic, but then again in the video game that changed, so idk. And because they know that + because they know how their situation looks like (2 dudes, chilling in one apartment), they continously poke fun at their "relationship".

Cartoon Sam: Will straight up murder anyone in a two meter radius if he finds a single missing strand of fur from his bunny. I've never been the guy to outright call two male characters that are really friendly with each other gay without the creators confirmation... but COME ON ITS SO OBVIOUS
1:29 This for me is the reason why I hold Sam and Max and the people behind it in such high regard. They could of put I the usual dialogue of it not gonna do or just put in the quick "I don't feel that way about him" sort of line. Yet what did they do? They dedicated a lot of animation time to create this gag.
That's all it is though, just a gag. They also have gags that have them interested in women, that has Sam being a parental like figure for Max. It's really just a joke for the sake of being a joke.

I remember playing Sam and max on my iPod touch years ago- it had something to do with Santa or the North Pole? I lost my iPod and couldn’t remember the name of these two until I saw fanart pop up on Instagram
Having watched 15 of 25 minutes, played all the games, and seen all of the cartoon's episodes, it looks like it was mostly made by someone who a) isn't aware that the franchise is a comedy, written for comedy's sake, b) can't conceive of a relationship built on surviving danger ( such as many policemen and military professionals have) rather than on mutual infatuation ("love"), d) can't conceive of anybody not wanting sex or being able to joke about it without being a lusty horndog, and e) is trying to sell an idea before which there is presently a bottomless demand. I've been a fan of their work for a decade or more. It's a thought that never came to mind. And doesn't stick. What does stick is the funny thought that a lot of people want to say Sam and Max are gay, as if that's affirmative of something they would like to be. And I find that very, very funny. Such people might also wish to check out Welcome to Night Vale.
The running joke of Max not liking girls honestly feels like it's supposed to convey a level of maturity so low, it transcends sexuality. Max...is simply Max. He's the embodiment of directionless aspiration, shameless vanity, and chaotic neutrality. Sam def has the big gay, though...

Spoilers for Sam and Max Beyond Time and Space Ok but literally when satan tells sam to think of the worst possible thing imaginable and creates Sam's own personal hell, it's literally a life without max (and with peepers instead) but while you interact with the hell version of their office sam is just moping the entire time about max not being there! They even animated him walking differently (with his head down all dejected) to show just how sad he is without him! His own personal hell is not having max in his life and if that's not love then I don't know what love is nor do I want it.

Having watched 15 of 25 minutes, played all the games, and seen all of the cartoon's episodes, it looks like it was mostly made by someone who a) isn't aware that the franchise is a comedy, written for comedy's sake, b) can't conceive of a relationship built on surviving danger ( such as many policemen and military professionals have) rather than on mutual infatuation ("love"), d) can't conceive of anybody not wanting sex or being able to joke about it without being a lusty horndog, and e) is trying to sell an idea before which there is presently a bottomless demand.
