    I started intermittent fasting in February of 2023. I have lost almost 30 lbs. I am taking a little break from it with the holidays but plan on getting back on it tomorrow. I just a couple of weeks ago went in for my Medicare wellness check and my doctor was very pleased with my weight loss and I had so many improvements in my labs. My cholesterol was down, my A1c was in the normal range. My cholesterol ratio was better. I feel better and have less joint pain. And Sandy…you are right, a person will get used to the fasting and I don’t even get hungry while I am fasting. I have taken little breaks before if we would go on a trip or something like that, but then I get right back to it and take off what I gained. I do fasting 18 and eating window is 6. But, I mix that up once and a while too. A person can be flexible and do what is good for you! It can work!

    struggling with weight, Sandy's intermittent fasting journey struck a chord with me. Trying various methods without success, I stumbled upon the simplicity of intermittent fasting. Watching Sandy share her positive outcomes, especially the improved health aspects, inspired me to embark on my own fasting journey. Her advice on starting gradually and finding a comfortable fasting window resonated, making it a feasible New Year's resolution. Grateful for her tips and encouragement, as I explore this path towards a healthier lifestyle.

    Down 24 lbs in 10 months. Feeling so much better. Diagnosed with NAFLD with cholesterol 336. Trying to turn it around. Need to lose another 15 or so. Thank you for your encouragement ❤

      20 pounds is awesome! Plus since you have lost it slowly, you will be able to keep it off. Getting the additional weight off should help with lowering cholesterol too. Take whatever meds the doctor suggests until you get it to a better level. I will keep cheering you on! It isn't just the weight loss but better health overall that your body is going to experience.

    I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue as a child. I was thin until I had kids and was up 40# after having kids. I worked out hard, did elimination diets, even took Rx diet pills. I never lost more than a single pound. In 2023, I started IF on Jan 28. I lost 8 pounds in less than a month. By early April, I was down nearly 15 pounds. Then I got into a car accident with injury and during that time of recovery, I quit IF to just make it through each day with my sanity. By the time I recovered, it was the holiday season and no one wants to start a diet then so I waited. Now I am ready to restart, ironically on the exact same date. :)

      You can do this!! You have already proved it before. It is an easy lifestyle to get back to. I am sorry to hear about your car accident. It must have been pretty bad since you were injured. Taking care of our mental health is very important too...which is what you'd for yourself. I hope you have recovered.

    Lost 20 lbs with intermittent fasting. I am 61 and on no meds. My other half is 71, lost some weight and was able to come off his blood pressure med he was on. It will make 1 yr in July he has been off his BP meds ( that was the only med he was on). We both feel great. We look at food as our medicine, and our treats as a once in awhile vaction lol. Just as God instructs a time for work, and a time to rest. Our beautiful bodies need that as well. Love your channel and realness. Your photos of before and after are realistic. Your a good person and beleiveable. God Bless you ❤~~~

      This was written with such kind words. Thank you. I am so happy for you two! What a difference it has made in your lives to take this simple approach of eating. I believe food is medicine also...along with those occasional treats. I love dark chocolate which is a treat, but also a food that is medicine for our bodies. I look at food differently now.

    I started 16/8 IF in February 2023. I didn't need to lose a lot of weight, only about 10 lbs or so. It seemed to be very slow on weight loss, but eventually, the weight did come off. At 66 years old, I learned a valuable lesson last month that at 66 years old, 121 lbs is too thin. I got covid and dropped to 115 lbs. Wow, I looked bad. I'm feeling better little by little and glory to glory, and I'm up to 124 lbs. I'm still doing IF for all of its other health benefits, but I'm trying to get up to 130 lbs lol. I never thought I would be trying to gain weight. Happy New Year 🎉 Sandy

    HNY to you Sandy. I have fallen off the wagon the last 3-4 months and need to get back on as I've put on about 10lbs. Stress induced comfort eating. I never had a problem intermittent fasting 20:4 but the last few months I have not been so diligent in eating a Keto diet which has meant weight gain. 1st Jan is a good day to restart and climb back on the wagon. Your videos several years ago were definitely inspirational to help me keep going. The dark season doesn't help as there are so few daylight hours to get out side in the fresh air, perhaps another reason for making poor food choices.
    Many thanks and HNY again.

    Hi Sandy! Happy new year!!! I am so grateful that I stumbled into your videos. It has been nearly a year since I started intermittent fasting. I lost a max of 6 kilos and kept it. Though I want to lose 3 kilos more and I am good. But I am very happy so far since I changed my lifestyle. I am not so strict with food though for as long as I only eat during my eating window. I do 14-16 hours to fasting. But I know that if I eat less carbs, more kilos will drop. My doctor is happy with my blood results, cholesterol level dropped and everything else is good. . I am amazed! I will turn 50 in a month so I need to drop those extra kilos before the big day!! Wish me luck! Thanks for inspiring me to keep going Sandy! God bless you!🥰🙏

    You're so right Sandy. I'm about to turn 50 and about 3 months ago I decided to start fasting. I have to admit I'm not as strict as I should be but even so i have lost weight. The best part is your body does get used to it and you don't feel hungry. Even the carb cravings go away. And I've noticed my hot flashes diminish. If I can do it anyone can. Blessings to all.

    Intermittent fasting did not work for me until I fixed my gut microbe imbalance. I have been making my own kefir milk for about 5 weeks, and I drink one cup per day. Now, with the kefir and IF, I am finally seeing the weight come off. Oh, and this is while also eating some carbs (not sugar) daily.

      I eat carbs too. I love carbs and dont think it is healthy to remove them from our diet. This comment is going to be so helpful to others. How long does it take for the body get used to the fasting schedule before it stops working or it starts to plateau?

      You can totally do this, Linda! Just get back on the wagon and start again. Watch the fasting videos again that I have done so you can remind yourself of what to do. It takes quite a few months before the body gets to the plateau point. I can't say a time exactly but for me personally I had no issue with a plateau at least for 6 months.

    Will 100% chamomile tea with apple cider vinegar count as food? Will it break my fast?

    • @sandysteinbrook
      @sandysteinbrook  3 месяца назад

      Yes, it will break your fast. Although experts differ on the opinions of what does and doesn't break a fast...to me a clean fast is plain water, plain black coffee, or plain green or black tea. You can try your way and maybe be just fine! Or just drink your chamomile tea and ACV after dinner within your eating window. I need to add...
      Now that I am at a healthy weight and just maintaining, I don't worry about what time I am drinking herbal teas. But if weight loss is the goal... a clean fast is the best way to go.

    • @sandysteinbrook
      @sandysteinbrook  5 месяцев назад +1

      It will. Now, it may work fine for you to still have it but for me, until I did a clean fast, I didn't lose the weight. After the weight came off and I have maintained where I am, I have gone back to drinking some herbal teas in the evenings and sometimes mornings. But I had to do a clean fast and only have plain water, plain black coffee, or plain green or black tea for me to see results.

      Fasting has been around in different religions for centuries! It works for many people, but not everyone. I eat 3 times a day, but I eat in an 8 hour window, and do not eat within a 16 hour window. I am healing my body along with the weight loss I experienced and have no fad diets to follow.
