great video 😍 I liked the point you made later in the video while showing the snacks and saying that maybe you ate a big lunch and you don't need to eat a snack. So true - I think a lot of us (me included) tend to eat just because it's a certain time of the day or a habit and we are not even hungry!
@cyclingonplants7444 You are so 💯% correct. As a society we have become programmed to eat by the time on the clock or when we think we're hungry. Snacking has become the norm because of the cravings we get from consuming sugar and processed junk. Get those out of your diet and the craving will stop. There is a massive difference between blood sugar spikes and crashes and being genuinely hungry.
You're right about eating according to the time on the clock. We are so programmed to eat 3 times a day, plus snacks, but our bodies dont need that if we are eating balanced meals that keep us full.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! I think it is a simple concept when making our plates to visually see the plate divided into the portions and then we aren't over cramming our plates with the wrong calories that really add up.
much needed and appreciated!!!!🥲🥲🥰 , newly subscribed to your channel ! have blessed Thanksgiving!! I've gone from Keto, Carnivore, vegan and WFPB; the perfect plate method does work best for optimal health!! deeply grateful!!!!
Oh, I know you must be so frustrated! I would be. Have you ever tried Intermittent Fasting along with this? Since your hormones are in control, you know it isn't that. Sometimes certain medicines can put weight on us too and everything you do right, doesn't seem to work.
Are you doing a clean fast? Until I started doing a clean fast, I did not lose weight either. A clean fast is just water, black coffee or green or black tea with no additives at all. Another thought is your body got so used to it that your metabolism wasn’t working. What if you tried a different approach for a bit. Start eating at 8am, 12, and 6pm. If you do a perfect plate with half the plate as vegetables, you’ll be around 500 calories per plate and it will help you lose weight. Make sure you have some healthy fat to keep you feeling full.
@@sandysteinbrook Thank you. I do a clean fast and now I am starting eating the perfect plate. I might try the 8 12 6 eating times with the 500 calories each. I will let you know how it goes.
@@colleenclegg1714 , I wasn't thinking if you did this, it would mess your body up from the fasting schedule and could rev up metabolism again. Our bodies get used to what we do long term and needs a change time to time.
Loved this video! Do you count your protein? I get mixed messages on getting high protein for muscle mass and some say that much protein isn’t necessary lol. 🤷♀️
I don't. I was for a while because I realized I was not eating enough protein. But, I got tired of the whole counting thing. Now I just make sure that I get protein in each meal. I have heard mixed messages too, and this is from the experts. So, I don't know which side is correct. Instead I feel if I am eating a balanced meal, I will be ok.
I always use dressing or something on my salad. I like to make balsamic vinaigrette or a tahini dressing or I make ranch sometimes too. I like to control the oils I use that way and choose a good olive oil.
Thank you! :) Fad diets are not sustainable. But eating a healthy diet of real whole food, and sometimes having the indulgence that you enjoy, is sustainable.
Really liked this video. You had great infomation. Just wondering what type of gluten free bread you might recommend? I have celiac and can't have wheat, barley or rye. Thanks alot.🐱
I wish I could give you an answer, but I am not sure. I am hoping someone else will see your comment and chime in. I wonder if Einkorn would work for you. Having celiac is tough. Have you found grains that work for you? Does quinoa, millet or any other ancient grains work for you?
I have celiac - einkorn WILL NOT work. It may be an ancient wheat but it’s still wheat. I actually have a bad reaction to most grains. I can eat rice but don’t care for rice flour breads. I have actually found that the GF keto breads are the best for me and are the most like regular bread. My very favorite is the gluten free Carbonaut bread. Also, look up Victorias Keto Kitchen flour blend. I make biscuits with this blend that my whole family LOVES, and no one knows it’s GF. (Or low carb for that matter)
@@beckyd6899 , such good information to know! I learned from your comment. People with celiac definitely know what to stay away from. The side effects of eating the wrong thing are miserable. Thanks for taking the time to share this for so many others to learn from you. Plus, its great info for those trying to stay lower carb too!
@@sandysteinbrook thank you for this video! It was well done & informative! And yes, eating the wrong foods can be miserable. I’ve had many people comment on how they feel sorry for me, but I’m not sorry! I feel so much better since being diagnosed and would never go back to eating the way I used to - I certainly don’t miss daily GI issues, migraines, joint pain…It’s all about looking forward instead of grieving what’s been left behind. ☺️
Question: Was the pizza you showed just one serving? It looked like a lot of pizza for just one serving. Also, were the walnuts just one serving? They, too, looked like more than one serving. I do love the idea of a balanced plate. Thanks very much. Diane
Hello, Diane! That was actually a tiny plate that I was putting the pizza on but, I wouldn’t have had that last big piece of pizza I had put on the plate. I should have made the size of the plate apparent. I’m so full along with eating the salad that has protein on it that I don’t eat a bunch of pizza like I used to. For walnuts, the serving size fits in the palm of my hand. The bag says 1/4 cup is a serving. I’m going to talk about portions in my next video.
One slice. And it counts for carb, protein, anf fat. So add a salad. Or what I do? Olive oil on the plate. Slice of pizza on the olive oil. Kale, collards. spinach, peppers, onions, garlic, low fat cottage cheese, origano, a bite more marinaro. Diner!
In Canada we teach this in schools, it's our Canada Food Guide. The emphasis on fresh fruit and veg. is helpful as is the sprouted whole grains. Thanks for plating your meals, very useful, especially the pizza! ❤
In America, we have it backwards. Our food guide was heavier on grains, then vegetables and fruits. And in America it shows because obesity and disease is rampant. Even in children. The balanced plate way needs to be taught in the schools here. Teach kids while they're young.
Right?!! I used to just eat the pizza and then I was starving the next day because the carbs just spiked my glucose levels and didn't give me anything in my body to keep me feeling full. Now with this approach, I don't eat as much pizza, but still feel very satisfied.
15 pounds is amazing! Good for you. I definitely lost weight much slower than you, but the fact that it is a sensible approach to eating means it can be maintained long term. Fad diets are not sustainable.
I do not, but….if you have half of your plate as vegetables and then add the 1/4 portions for protein and healthy carb, and some healthy fats per day then your plate will average around 500 ish calories per plate. Fermented foods are Great! So good for the gut. Many times I will have a bowl of plain greek yogurt or add sauerkraut to the side of my salads. I bet you do feel a lot better my cutting out the sugar from desserts and the eating between meals. We all get a sugar spike when we eat and if eating between meals, our body never has time to settle down, its always trying to process the food. That is why I also use Intermittent Fasting in my life. I am not as regiment as I used to be because now I am maintaining the weight I am at instead of trying to loose. But IF is what got the initial weight off of me.
