  • I was doing this wrong when I first started Intermittent Fasting. I share my mistakes so you can start of successful on your journey. It is best to break your fast with protein and high quality fats. Protein, fat and fiber are important in a meal to keep me satisfied and not spiking glucose levels and being hangry. We don't want a constant insulin response in the body.

    I discovered intermittent fasting videos after going to the doctor and finding my weight up, my blood pressure up and my cholesterol up. My husband and I started eating better in December and started intermittent fasting in January and he is down 14 and I am down 8. It is so good to learn that you can enjoy good food and lose weight and be healthy. I'm really into steak and mushrooms right now and from what I've seen, I can cook my mushrooms in butter and be happy!

    Your videos have been very motivating since you keep it simple. Have been trying only green tea before breaking my fast during 16:8 and I'm amazed how my hunger has subdued so quickly eating this way. Snacking in the evening has always been the hardest to break but have been able to stick to my eating window. Hope you'll continue with this series.

    I have been doing Intermittent Fasting for 4 years. I went from a size 18 to a size 4 in a year and a half. I think I lost over 100 pounds. I have kept off my weight. I started this way of eating slowly. For the first month my breakfast was at 2 pm and dinner was at 7 pm. I then increased my fasting hours. For example my first meal would be at 3:30 and my second meal would be at 6. I did this for many months. I worked up to only eating once a day. I don’t restrict myself calorie wise. I just eat what my body is craving, with in reason of course. I don’t gorge myself. I just eat until I’m full. I limit sweets. I usually have a desert once a week. I also make sure that I eat at least 1000 calories a day. The worst thing you can do is eat less than 1000 and slow your metabolism. I drink a lot of water during the day. I like the flavored watered such as LaCroix . I stay away from diet drinks. I have black coffee in the morning.

I still eat a piece of bread when I break my fast occasionally. I just make sure it is like an Ezekiel Bread type so it isn't full of bad stuff.

      I have learned that protein is the key to eat for breakfast. The issue with oatmeal is it spikes your blood sugar and whatever we eat the first meal of the day sets your metabolism for the rest of the day. I am just learning so much about protein. Here is a video I just did on eating protein to lose fat. Oatmeal isn't bad, its just best to eat it a little later in the day, or add plenty of protein to it. you could add chia seeds, flax seeds, protein powder, egg whites, nut butters....and it won't spike your blood sugar instantly.

I've been logging my food on my fitness pal since 2011 lol so I do track calories. I'm 10 to 13 pounds up for almost a year of up and down on the scale, mostly up. Wondering if my estrogen is to much and causing me to be dominant in that hormone. I've upped my progesterone cream to 3 times a day to combat that hopefully. Thought surely the IF would give results but has NOT.

    You didn't seem overweight or obese. I started IF for blood sugar reasons, and went keto to cut carbs. I always hated breakfast, never felt hungry. So I do a 19:5 and I'm fine with it. Just 1-2 coffee (w/cream), green tea, and sparkling water. I'm 7 weeks in and my blood sugar levels are 88.
    This might help others, but I drink a special concoction of collagen peptides, Vitamin D3 + MCT oil liquid, and whole psyllium husk in water. Psyllium husk is a healthy soluble fiber. I use it for cholesterol. But the husk really fills you up. I use about a tablespoon, and I feel full after drinking it. It doesn't taste bad when it's in water. Don't use more than a tablespoon per day because it might cause stomach issues, it is a soluble fiber.

    Inflammation will improve if you cut out the gluten, maybe the dairy?

      My inflammation has improved a ton. I agree that conventional gluten is so bad. I eat break that is more like Ezekial bread or I make my own homemade with ground wheat berries. I lie brea, a lot. So I needed to find good resources that wasn't the American bread int he bread aisle, which is so inflammatory to our bodies.

    Just wondering what your ratio of lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and water is for your morning drink? Thanks for all the info you are sharing. I intend to give this a serious try.

      Hello, Glenda! I use 1 TBSP or apple cider vinegar, 1 TBSP of lemon juice and 1 TBSP of chia seeds, if you're using those. I should also add that if that is too much to begin with, use smaller amounts and work your way up to the full amounts.

    Can I have sugar free coffee mate with coffee in the morn and still continue with the fasting window ?

    • @sandysteinbrook
      @sandysteinbrook  Год назад +1

      For a clean fast, having any kind of additives in your coffee will break your fast. Now in saying that, you make a personal decision of what is best for you. When I started clean fasting is when I started seeing results. I was dirty fasting by putting additives in my hot tea. Once I stopped, the weight and inflammation started coming off easily.

    • @sandysteinbrook
      @sandysteinbrook  Год назад +1

      @@geetaofindia, then honest answer is it took a while for me. I didn't lose any weight until almost 4 weeks. I thought I was doing something wrong, which I was with a dirty fast. So I went back and reread the book "Fast. Feast. Repeat" by Gin Stephens and she explains doing a clean fast but asl says to "Trust the process" because it takes longer for some people to lose weight. I am glad I didn't give up because once I started losing, I kept losing and started reaping all the other benefits too. So, if you have my experience let me encourage you to not give up too early. It will work.

    What do you suggest for not being at home three days a week during your time to have your first meal? Smoothies are not enough for me. Those days are not at work but my son’s events or church… Extend the fast or eat in the car? 😂

      Eat the car! 😂😂. You can definitely extend the fast. Studies have shown that a longer fast has even more benefits and weight loss. Or just pack some food. Boiled eggs, nut, veggies...do you like that kind of stuff?
