wonderful!! The first dietician who ever acknowledged that there is some of us who are sendentry and have too much joint pan to do much beyond walking to the office!! Thank you SOOO much!
I had to cut back pasta except for holidays and special occasions. Being Italian I thought it would be hard but after a few months, it seems "normal". I'm 62 so if I can change, there is hope for others. ; ) Bread is less too, I do "open face" egg sandwiches and just the end of the french bread on special days. You find what works for you. I'm one year 9/11 and went from 174 to 136.(most by Jan of this year)
I was the 60 YO 245 lbs type II diabetic sit at a desk guy who had to have a quintuple bypass in 2016. My wife found your channel (2 fit docs) looking for a way to lose weight without exercise. We started keto and graduated to OMAD. I'm now 165 lbs, 5.6 a1c, and have only rarely needed insulin in the last 2 years. I am 65 and retired and walk 6 miles each day. Seeing your electrolyte section prompts my comment. My calf muscles are always sore to the touch and I am prone to cramps in the feet and calves in bed. My potassium levels are normal so I thought perhaps it was from lactic acid build up from walking. I do crave salt which goes missing a lot in our meat and veggie diet. Is it a high possibility that electrolyte replacement will help this pain and cramping go away?
Hi Suzanne, electrolytes will not break a fast. There is no evidence that naturally-derived sweeteners, like Stevia, have an impact. However, if you'd like, you can use the plain sticks for fasting periods and the flavored ones as Stoppers. This is how I do it.
You have described me after herniated discs, 2 hip replacements and obesity from several years on ACTOS (^120 lbs). My 1 year into KETO/IF and my labs, A1c, cholesterol are 90% to perfect, except triglycerides are still very high. Blood sugers and insulin quantities are a roller coaster. Only lost 15 lbs even though staying 1500 - 1800 calories. But maybe too BBBE. I'm changing to goat milk products to reduce lactose. And reducing protien more and increasing fat more. Next labs in 2 months, we'll see.
Dr. Becky I think you are awesome and I love your videos! I need help. I'm trying to get back into shape. I'm 55 and I've gained a bunch of weight. I'm trying IF with your 0123 approach; however, the eggs and salads are really upsetting my stomach by late afternoon. Do you have any different food ideas for breakfast and lunch???
FYI - The offer for LMNT doesn't work outside of the USA, due to customs concerns. In fact they won't send ANY LMNT out of North America for the the same reason.
Dr Becky- I exercise a lot 150 miles a week on my bicycles. Low carb diet has also helped me get to a BMI normal weight of 216 lbs (I'm 6'6"). My question is...if 50-100 carbs/day is good for a 2000 calorie day... can I go higher in carbs with a 3000-4000 calorie or more day ? Saturday I rode my bike 70 miles of a gravel rail trail- burned 4434 Calories. (that's a 6500 calorie day!). I do eat carbs (dried mango strips) when I ride longer than 30 miles. 30 miles rides I can just use stored Glycogen (2 hours) but on longer rides I need some carbs. FYI- I use "Element" electro lights instead of sugary drinks like Gatorade on all the but the longest bike rides. On rides over 30 miles I eat one dried mango strip/10 miles- it really seems to help. Age 60, retired this spring:^) I have lost 45 Lbs since Nov 1 2021 on a low carb diet. 4inches in waist size! A1C went from 62 to 57 (last tested in March) in the winter I only ride indoors 60 miles/week.
I can exercise but my feet are still so bad that afterward it takes me a day to get back to walking normal. I am going through menopause and am wondering if that could be at least some of the issue since I didn't start to have foot pain again until last year when I started menopause. I need to know what I can do naturally to not only help with that but to help with my estrogen levels. I am Keto and have been for four years but have found for the last year that I get overwhelmed with cravings and the same feelings I had when I was premenstrual such as increased hunger and mood swings.
Hi Becky, great videos! Just started following you. Question for you. Dave Asprey is a Biohacker that's been getting alot of attention lately. He primotes a 15 minute exercise routine 3 times a week. It involves walking very slowly for about 2 minutes, then run as fast as you can for about 1 minute. Run like a tiger is chasing you! Then lay down for about 2 minutes at complete rest. He says you have the same or better results then exercising for long periods. What are your thoughts on this approach? Thank You, I'll keep tuned in to your channel!
Glad to see you're back in the kitchen! This may be an odd observation ... but I found the big "N" in the background to be distracting. Either way ... welcome back! Your videos are always encouraging! I've been getting some good exercise lately - either bicycle or treadmill - but now I won't feel so bad about missing a day!
I can’t seem to slow down drinking 1/2 Sweat 1/2 Unsweat Tea with Ice. Water dries my eyes out. No matter what water zone tried. But not with tea. No dry eyes crazy but true.
Great video Dr. Becky. Do you have a patreon site or link where subscribers can join & view video content without sponsorship commercials? If so, please provide. Thank you.
@Catherine Malloy I am just reading this today. I had stage 4b kidney failure when I started on Keto. I eat breakfast and lunch and fast from 12.30pm until 7 the following morning. After 9 months my ckd had gone from stage 4b to stage 3a. Works for me. Good luck x
Thanks for your comment, and sorry for the confusion. There is a technical glitch that is causing some of my older videos to republish. We are working with YT to get a solution.
I lost 50 of a total of 85 pounds while recovering from shoulder surgery. 18 weeks of doing pretty much nothing. Short slow walks around the neighborhood and living keto did that. It was during that time I found 2 Fit Docs. Thanks Doc!
I'm 5'5 and 130 pounds. I have always worked. I have had a dislocated shoulder that was popped back in, no surgery, and kept training and ran a half marathon in 2010.
I have found with mental illnesses like clinical anxiety and depression it can produce adrenal fatigue after having them for a long time. It affects my motivational ability in my mind to the point of having no mental desires.. When I was able to do some fasting there was a slight motivational ability there. Now it's completely gone. It's like a person who has been extinguished inside. Your videos are really good though.
Thanks, Becky. Trying to get back to consistent IF, which during my main weight loss of 55 lbs. was a breeze. Slid a bit and now trying to lose the 10 (okay, maybe 15) pounds that have creeped back in. Learned so much from you and Dr. Keith* and you both helped me stay on track thru lockdown. Can’t exercise much, so helpful to see this video to remind me about electrolytes. Thanks so much for all you do for us! * Hope Keith is in good health and still kicking it! 😘 Best regards!
Currently working on my diet and everything she said really works. I’m not able to exercise and have lost 3 kgs in 4 weeks and that’s just by cutting chocolates, biscuits, cake and soda. Thanks for the video ❤
Thank you, four years of keto, low carb diet and If , no exercise to lose weight just some light workout to keep my muscles!!! BMI 20, just started running, love it !
Thank you so much ! I just turned 56 and have been battling sugar addiction for years. These videos help motivate me. We have diabetes in the family and I don’t want to end up there!
Hi! I just discovered your channel and this is my second video. I just recently started instinctively making less carbs a way of eating and the intermittent fast just kinda started on it's own. I have bad knees from a very bad fall in January 2022. I have a day here and there where they don't bother me much. I recently discovered a very gentle cardio exercise. It is going to the park and swinging on a bench swing that is designed with a footrest that propels it forward with a gentle push of your feet. I stay with it for 30 minutes at a moderate pace. Also, I went to their exercise area and followed the instructions and diagrams for doing really deep all-over body stretches with the use of their horizontal and vertical bars for support. I've only been 2 days. Took a break today, but returning tomorrow. I Already Feel a World of Difference in my Entire body! All of my aches and pains have disappeared !! Thank you for all your helpful tips!! A new Subbie here!!!
I just found your Channel (THANK U)🌞THIS INFORMATION IS INVALUABLE FOR EVERYONE💫 ((NOT just for ‘Fat Loss’))🌞 I was overweight however??? I lost most of the weight through Diet & then Exercise!!! Thank you for recommending this video to me. I have been struggling with mobility for some time and being a former athlete it caused me to emotionally eat. The cycle the last couple of years has left me feeling defeated and "unfixable". So glad I could your channel. My new eating habits start today!
You won't be sorry. 1 year now KETO/IF rocked my labs, A1c, blood sugers, even cholesterol, to almost normal. Took a while, the first 2-3 weeks of IF we're challenging, but all in my head, because KETO foods definatly eliminate hunger. I jumped in to 16 hours, recommend starting 12 and inching down, takes the brain a bit to realize there is no hunger. I'm at 18 hours now, easy peasy. Best wishes. One of my biggest fears, besides hunger, was feeling deprived. So I planned a weekly cheat meal, that has turned into monthly, if I even remember. But I keep it allowable just to appease my brain, haha. Will be adding LMNT this week also to cut back on Zevia sodas.
Brilliantly explained. Other extreme videos do not work because they don't incorporate the transition and how to go through it while eliminating sugar etc. Thankyou this has been extremely helpful.
Hi Kathren, there is no sugar used in any of their products. The flavored sticks have stevia. If you'd like to avoid flavoring, the plain sticks contain only the electrolytes.
@@beckygillaspy thank you! My husband had purchased something from melaleuca but it had five grams of sugar which I'm trying to avoid :-) I think it's called sustain
LMNT has a blog and they actually show you how to make your own electrolyte drink. I also buy something called 40,000 volts by trace minerals which I add to drinks. LMNT is expensive but if you buy 3 boxes or do a subscription you can get a box free. But yes, its a huge hit to the pocket book.
Thank you for your easy to follow advice and helping us by showing how we can do this gradually so it isn't so difficult. I have been doing some intermittent fasting. It is difficult for me because I like breakfast and I have to get up at 5 am. The 16 hour wait is very difficult, especially when I am making my husband breakfast before he goes to work. I find if I can cook some of his breakfast the day before, I crave it less in the morning and can stick to the fasting. The 12 hour fasting schedule is what I am on now. Since the daylight is getting later, I am hoping to sleep in since he works outside and can't work in the dark. That will definitely help me fast longer.
These diet principles make sense and after following them for over a year- I can testify that they work to lose weight and lower inflammation in joints.
What about fruits? How do vegetarians avoid inflammation when they consume so much high carb fruits every single day, especially those who eat half a dozen bananas and a bunch of apples and oranges?
Hello. I am currently looking into starting intermittent fasting and would like some direction on how to start, how to not overdo this to the point where it is not benefitting my health, and what to do when I plateau. Would you be able to direct me to a video you may have already made on this subject? I have heard that intermittent fasting is good for women with PCOS, which I have. Thank you so much, keep up the great work! :)
I have a playlist with multiple videos on intermittent fasting. You can find the playlist by going to my channel page (click on my picture or name). I also have a book that you can get through Amazon titled: Intermittent Fasting Diet Guide and Cookbook. I hope that helps!
Hi Katie, I'm sorry you had an issue. LMNT has a terrific customer service team. I'm sure they will be able to assist you. You can reach them via email at hello@drinkLMNT.com
Anyone tell me why I get notifications from Dr Becky and when I click on it it says private video? What has changed with her channel? I can't find anything. Thanks
Sorry for the confusion, Tammy. There is a technical glitch that is causing some of my older videos to republish. We are working with YT to get a solution.

A lot depends on your diet, age, hormones, etc. But I drink at least one LMNT everyday, sometimes two and I find because I am not eating refined foods that the sodium is perfect. In fact my blood pressure has gone back down to the level it was in my 20's. I am not a doctor but just wanted to let you know that sometimes when people eat healthy, non-processed whole foods that are Low Carb and Keto that sodium levels of 1000mg are not only possible but also help make my body feel better and reduce headaches and foggy brain.
Alter your diet first. Ease into keto/low carb. It took me a month before I could go carb free. It was hard. After 3 months, it became easier. Just know that you can have a cheat meal once per week. Once you are on steady keto, you WILL become healthier. I'd not doubt your blood pressure issues will slowly fade. I'm 72 and even though I wasn't considered diabetic, i developed diabetic issues. Keto/fasting is keeping my insulin low, and ever so slowly, things are improving. I've been on Keto for 10 months. I am at the point where i want electrolytes. I just moved 36 cement blocks. Tomorrow, I move them again.
I wish i could say the same as most comments here. So what's wrong with me? I see all these positive comments, but I've been on and off Keto for the 2nd time, 2-3 mos in and barely 10 lbs. water weight lost. ): I've cut out all the bad stuff, no goodies and fast at least 16 hrs a day. Thank you Becky I appreciate your videos.
Same here. Short of eating no food at all, I don't know what else I can do. I tried a 60hr fast and I did drop about 2kg within that period. Then went on to IF but this weight has stuck to me like glue
I don't know if this is recommended or not, but I started out with what I call fat fasting. I ate lots of good fats, as much as I wanted, and if I got hungry between meals I'd eat fat. The thinking was to train my body to use fat well, and even in the early days I lost body fat. As I progressed I needed this extra fat less and less, got fat adapted and the body fat kept coming down. Point is, I never had to feel hungry, as long as I ate the correct thing, fat.
@@mcstar8885 They key is real whole food fats. NOT junk food, canola oil, etc. For me it was crunchy peanut butter and nuts in general, olive oil, butter, cream. Basically I always had a jar of natural crunchy peanut butter with me, I kept one in my backpack. For me anyway, no matter how much I was craving sugar/junk food, two or three spoonfuls of peanut butter(no sugar added!) got rid of it. And just as important, I like pbutter! I look forward to it.
I was given a brain cat scan a year ago for nothing out of malpractice and then the doctor said I don’t know why you were given a brain cat scan. I went in for gas in the stomach and got a brain cat scan smh. After the scan I started having foamy urine to this day, dark spots appearing on left foot, toe pain, flank pain and pain in the kidneys in the back that comes and goes, burning in stomach, frequent urination and much more. I went to a urologist and I got a kidney ultrasound and it came back normal, urine test and it was also normal, no protein but I still have foamy urine for a year now, flank pain and toe pain. What should I do?

Natural yogurt or greek yogurt with frozen fruits is ok

There isn't cane sugar, but there is Stevia in the LMNT. For me, it triggers me to wanting sweets. Other than that it's a handy product when needed.
Oh Dr Becky you are the voice in my head! Thank you for the inspiration! We don’t have LMNT in South Africa sadly. ♥️
@@Mission_Me apologies about that but that is very expensive! Thank you!
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤

I break my 16/8 vegan fast with beans and pickled veggies.....plenty of water
Thank you. 🤟
Go for minimum 5000 steps but shoot for 10,000
Coconut water has good electrolytes. It's a gift of nature
719 try cold potato salad eggs and warm chicken meat on some lettuce what's chop tomato for you
What if you eat a high protein, low fat and low or no carb diet? Lmnt will break your fast. And plain water is boring.

Is this a commercial?????
The hours you are asleep count towards your fasting hours.
@@Belovelyava Yes I count that time. However, going to bed late and getting up early is when it's hard not to eat first thing in the morning. :)
1000 mg salt.? Is that good for a 77 year old?
Hi! You've a gorgeous photo there! Just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope I get a thank you ❤
WOW! Commercials on top of commercial endorsements! RUclips is getting more PATHETIC by the DAY!
I clicked on this video so fast my phone could have exploded!!! Lololol
I drink seltzers or club soda instead of sugary sodas.
These diet principles make sense and after following them for over a year- I can testify that they work to lose weight and lower inflammation in joints.
Wow. each video of yours is like a life therapy session. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
What about fruits? How do vegetarians avoid inflammation when they consume so much high carb fruits every single day, especially those who eat half a dozen bananas and a bunch of apples and oranges?
If I had a MI 20YRS AGO, CAN I GO ON LOW CARB AND medium fat (healthy) diet. Thanks
I boredom eat with raw cabbage and cheese
This helps a great deal! Thank you! :)@@beckygillaspy
You are too good...
Thanks Dr Becky ❤️
I ordered Lmnt 3 weeks ago and received my order but they did not give the free offer you mention.
@@beckygillaspy Thank you so much, Dr Becky for writing and letting me know! Your videos are always such a blessing I don't want to miss any! 😊 God bless
1000MG of Sodium? With having high blood pressure, my doctor says to limit sodium intake. How can this be healthy at 43% sodium per serving?
A lot depends on your diet, age, hormones, etc. But I drink at least one LMNT everyday, sometimes two and I find because I am not eating refined foods that the sodium is perfect. In fact my blood pressure has gone back down to the level it was in my 20's. I am not a doctor but just wanted to let you know that sometimes when people eat healthy, non-processed whole foods that are Low Carb and Keto that sodium levels of 1000mg are not only possible but also help make my body feel better and reduce headaches and foggy brain.
Fasting requires higher than normal electrolytes replacement. All depends on your schedule and lifestyle
Watch Dr. Cywes video on salt.
Yes..I tried again for 3 months, absolutely no loss and then started gaining so I stopped!
What kind of foods did you eat please?
@Born to win
So sorry I can't help. You seem to be in a bad spot but I really have no idea what's going on with the things you describe..
Maybe someone else has some ideas and will be kind enough to let you know.
Hang in there.
dr berg has a video on why you have "foamy urine"
@@jansmith3158
Good to know. My urine is clear for now but that could change.
I'll look up the video and save it.
Hope it helps Born To Win.
Do you count the carbs in the low starch vegetables - like salad? I’m finding counting those carbs put me over my goal of just 16g carbs a day
yes
I don't, and I still stay in ketosis.
Most other keto docs say not to count leafy greens
This offer applies to us in. Canada?
Hi Blue Ocean, LMNT ships to Canada. I am not sure if any conditions apply outside of the US.
Sure, but movement is a very good thing. Any movement, it is all good.
