Brian good to see you down in my neck of the county good informative video.I have the Lee app and never noticed it had the timer, just checked it out. Big debate on back button focusing as I do a fair bit of sport and wildlife, my conclusion is with todays latest cameras, mine Sony A9, the tracking and focusing is so good back button doesn't have any benefits, I've found.

Stuart you’re probably right. But in this context of using AF before fitting the filters it works a treat!

Good video to introduce photographers to the bulb mode and why you use it. Your image was perfectly exposed so the Lee Ap worked. Paignton is a good beach to experiment with the long exposure. I find lots of photographers like to use over a minute but I find you get almost the same effect on the water with a minute. 30 seconds looks obviously different. The longer the exposure, the more chance of the light changing and missing best moment of the light.
I like your wrap around black strap for the Lee holder. Covering the viewfinder is good too especially with the sun behind the scene.
An important step is to turn the autofocus off before you fit the ND filter as you know otherwise the focus hunts. I forget regularly!
My canon 5D3 only gives me 30 seconds so I use an aftermarket Intervalometer which is useful for timelapses.
Looking forward to your next video. Hopefully bump into you one day on Dartmoor 😎👍🏼

Thanks for the adding this info. You are 100% about cover the viewfinder with DSLR’s as you can get a bit of light leak. If you can set back button focusing and use single shot you won’t get the camera hunting for focus anymore. My 5D Mkiv is set up so that the back button focusses, and the shutter release takes a light reading (1/2 press) and full press only releases the shutter (works on the cable release as well.

@@BrianNorthmorePhotography That’s a good tip about the back button set up and shutter set up. I’ll try it.
Lots of wildlife photographers have it set up that way I believe.

Indeed. Wildlife and sports photographers use it all the time. Takes a little getting use to. But worth the effort
