- A unique, quick, and fun to drive vehicle built to satisfy empty nester couples in need of some versatility that don't necessary want the same cookie cutter SUVs that everyone else drives. We would highly recommend just sticking with a more traditional SUV as the low roof and coupe-like body really turn this vehicle into the answer to a question that nobody was asking.

I really don't see this car as "pointless". It's got the styling of a coupe but with much more utility than a true coupe. That's the point.
I thought it was the exact opposite. The styling of a crossover minivan thing with about as much utility as a coupe.

Saw one of these today and was like da fuq is that thing. I then proceeded to follow it intensely believing it was some new model. 🤣
No problem in 9 years . a bmw would be in the junk yard by know. Acura much higher resale too
the difference is if a BMW is in the junk yard there are hundreds of people ready to buy it and fix it, unlike Acura who no one cares about

Really like this car , all the complaints about the car I don't think can be justified, luxury cars are supposed to be snug fit. I think this is the nicest interior I've ever seen from Acura and they should be encouraged for it, the new crop of vehicles (rlx, tlx, mdx) all have cookie cutter designs interior and exterior. It's a good thing when Acura or Honda gives customer something special like this.
I love my 2012 ZDX; I've found that the complaints centered around headroom, ingress and egress as a driver or passenger is completely overblown.
I'm 6' 2" and I haven't experienced any problems with those aspects during my 2 years with the car at all.
That, and it's been able to handle everything the Colorado winters have thrown at it with ease.

i actually OWN this car, ive always wanted one, i love it i always get more compliments in this than i do in my bmw x5. everyone's always blown away by the look of this car and also I'm always told how about how rare they are, which i knew but its a car mans car. not for someone who only cares about luxury vehicles or muscle cars. even though they love it too but literally i never leave home with out someone commenting on how much they love my zdx or someone making cash offers to buy it from me. its awesome. if u can find one get it.
Agree. I have a 2010 which I bought in 2016 with only 35k. Now has 93k and still a head turner. It was definitely ahead of its time.
How do you get the parts? Or does it shear same parts with the mdx?
Crazy how much these still sell for today in 2021. Definitely retained value.

I would buy this over an Mdx. More rare and unique. The new Mdx looks like an old man suv now

Another overblown critique. Researched for weeks, gained interest in ZDX after embellished complaints were all disproven. Here, appears front seat is adjusted near max height - misleading demo. Fits 6' 4" driver fine. Back seats may pose entry/exit effort if quite elderly (70+) or very physically challenged. Rear headroom issue overblown - fit 95% of adults fine. Leg room quite generous. Drove TX to UT, great handling, comfort, seats 10/10, lux features, sound, AWD+snow storm...sold me. Bought an Advance. 4 adults, room aplenty. Question the pop moto-press here; ZDX is outside their boxed definitions. It's different and brilliant. Awesome execution, Acura. Beautiful in person. Not for sheep.
I agree. If you look at the specs, the headroom & legroom are virtually the same as the MDX, which is less than my Mazda CX7. Every car reviewer whines that Honda Fit has more cargo capacity. So what? Are people supposed to by a Fit instead of an Accord then? The ZDX still has more trunk space than most sedans, and cargo space (with seats down) is similar to my CX7. I'm 5'10, test drove a ZDX yesterday and enjoyed it. Thinking about trading my 2013 Accord Coupe for a used certified ZDX for $31k with 32k miles. Btw, visibility in the ZDX and Crosstour is no worse than the Accord Coupe, and not as bad as a Nissan Z car.
@@NeightrixPrime 19/24 vs 16/23 is not that much of a difference for a faster and heavier car, unless you opt for the 2014+ RDX which just looks terrible and drives like a Honda Odyssey (no sh-awd).

Now they just need to change the design back to the original ZDX and make it look like a crossover instead of a Lincoln hearse fused with a new style BMW and the front end is not attractive either. I don't like the style of the 2024 ZDX, of course one's taste is subjective and all. I don't like the designs of the new Acuras. I think what they did to the front ends of the new vehicles is gaudy and excessive. I love the design of the 2010 to 2013 Acura. I don't think I'd buy the new 2024 ZDX. The 2025 Chrysler Airflow looks nice. New Honda Prelude also looks really good.
Im not sure what I think of these, but those illuminated buttons on the center stack = SUPER COOL!
If it was my money back in 2010, Id just save myself a ton of money and go for an RDX (with the turbo that everyone besides me hates).

I can agree that a ZDX is very expensive for what it is, but its such an eye catcher. I have only seen 4 total near my college campus. The center stack is just greatly toned down on buttons and its very ergonomically laid out.

Love my 2013 ZDX with just over 50K miles. Acura was ahead of its time with this. Now the market is flooded with SUV/CUV copycat vehicles with this "stupid design". It's no longer a niche. Ha, ha, ha. Not as fast or low as the 2021Audi SQ5. Anyway, keep up the great work. Love your car reviews.

@@ehigeleagbator3259 The ZDX is a MDX with a different body. The ZDX just has a different info-tainment dash design and interior touches; but, it is base on the 10-13 MDX.
Do you have Bluetooth music in yours
@@elbt101 The 10-13 MDX had bluetooth audio streaming or you could connect by USB or AUX to your smartphone. Some added Grom or NavTool to have Carplay with the MDXs with navigation.
@@elbt101 the short answer is Yes! It's very basic. No Apple or Car Play. The skip button on the ZDX audio system can change the song. The sound quality isn't the best either.
Sometimes an engine needs to be revved up like that. It's designed to handle it, it's not doing any harm to it unless it isn't broken in yet and this vehicle has 13,000 miles.

I recently saw this ACURA ZDX; I initially confused this as HONDA CROSSTOUR with a swapped Honda badge but the owner, who was really kind and a class act quickly educated me.
Am liking this ZDX; very enigmatic!
Yay!! I like the 2013, just needs a few more things, over all, a drop, and air intake, maybe a exhaust if i can fond one, it would be a hell of a fun mini MDX.
Believe it or not, the 3.7L output is actually class competitive enough in our eyes, plus it feels more powerful than its specs suggest. The Infiniti/Nissan VQ37HR is the one exception, while yes it is powerful it isnt as refined or smooth as this motor

This was actually Acura's first car to be fully designed at their new California studio. I think they did a nice job with it, but I think the money would have been better spent in other places on the Honda/Acura lineup (such as adding smartkey to my MDX lol). And as for the seats, if they are the same as the MDX's, do NOT take it on a long road trip. The MDX's front seats suck after 2 hours. The lumbar is no where near where it needs to be and they lose support over time.Great review. though.
Brand new, not worth the asking price Current used prices... EXCELLENT value for the tech you get as long as you get pass the looks.

First generation NSX was the first car to introduce leather dash.
Lol Acura sold 79 of these in 2010. The rear doors are designed poorly so entry and exit is a total bitch, the BMW X6 doesn't have these problems. I'm sure this Acura drives like an Acura should which is a good thing.

The coupe-like look has aged well in my opinion. Just give it modern headlights, taillights, and a new grille. That would be amazing.
Would love to see Acura bring this back with Hybrid engine. Acura will be too conservative to bring this car back since it only sold 6000+ from 2010-2013.

I am considering this as my next car.. I would have gotten it as first, but as a new car owner, I didn't want to jump into something more expensive..
I sat in one a few years ago at a autoshow and I was cramped, espically in the back.
I think this review is pretty accurate!! Except the 6 cd changer... I think it only plays DVD cds... not 100% sure tho.
Smitty Sacks if it plays DVDs, it can play CDs. It has DVD audio capabilities to play the 15 DVD audio discs ever made. Lol

I just realized honda has never given us a V8 or a large SUV. You would figure the would want to get get all of Gm's Tahoe and suburban drivers.

@ntailor93 Lol @ people always worried about giving their cars some gas. People need to learn that it is actually healthy for an engine to reach reline once in a while, helps get the carbon out and keep things moving smoothly. Hard acceleration isn't even abuse.

No remote start from factory; but, it was a dealer installed feature with an additional FOB.

You’re really sitting here bashing this car when it’s really in it’s own segment, it’s not meant to do what the other vehicles you are comparing it to do. Granted this is some years ago, but look how almost every brand has adopted this coupe suv body style nowadays. Acura was ahead of their time and they should have never stopped making this vehicle, instead they should have perfected it.
BMW X6? I thought it was the BMW 5 GT as the competitor, and this is based off of the Honda CrossTour.
First, I don't get the point of this. It's fine that BMW made the X6 cause that car was based off something that was a good sports car. The ZDX is pointless. How can you make a "sports activity vehicle" out of something based on the accord. I have to give Acura credit for making it a exotic looking car, but for the amount this is charging, which is in the 50k area, I would just buy a full-size SUV or a luxury SUV like the X5 and ML350. Pretty sad that this zdx was on multiple websites as one of the top 10 ugliest cars of all time. Finished 2nd most ugly a couple times only to the pontiac aztek. These were dark ugly times at acura.
On a good note couple years ago when I first saw this video I checked out my local craigslist and found 1 listing for a zdx. Was a 2010 and had 99k miles with a previously salvaged title and was only going for 5k. I think the resale value on these are terrible. I dont know if these are also prone to transmission failure like a lot of the aisin transmissions on j series v6 are.

Kind of interesting that Honda had the crosstour and Acura had the ZDX at around the same time. Both ended up not lasting too long. Not very common for both badges. They probably released just a little too early before the big boom of SUVs and crossovers. This probably would have sold really good in 2015 and beyond with newer technology.

The old legend, vigor and integra are some of my all time favorite cars but I just have not been a fan of any of acuras latest cars. The ILX just looks like a dressed up civic to me, TSX looks like an accord. I have a friend with a TL and it drives nice but the grill looks like a giant bucktooth. The ZDX really takes first place or the ugly award in my opinion!

Hard plastic on the door sills the same as Lexus RX - sad, my old 2006 VW had better door materials, and 4 auto-windows....The Japanese...cutting corners everywhere they can...
