- Meet Acura's previous best selling model, the TL. Hit with the ugly stick for the 2009 model year, it severely hampered sales of Acura once best selling luxury sedan in the segment. The 2012 refreshed helped to bring buyers back into showrooms however, with a next generation due for 2014. Acura really needs another home run, similar to what it got in 2004 with the new TL and TSX at the time.

this car looks amazing, people are just to sensetive about anything and everything now a days... oh it has too many buttons,it looks to agressive, not enough power,etc blah blah blah stop being a follower to what ever you see or hear.
Couldn't agree more with you, This car with the ron jon grill makes it totally diff but even stock its a beauty!
It's a car review...of course he's going to nitpick....these are good things to know before spending thousands of dollars on something you will keep for years.

Love the way the grill is bold and stands out. Got an 09, tech package with the sh-awd. Handling is great. Great all around car.

Color matching the grill on this car will make haters think twice, only a few more months of saving til i can out my hands in one of these 😍
You're so right, my friend bought a black one and painted the grill black and it totally changed the look of his car.

When they redesigned the TL in 2009, it essentially made it a bigger vehicle than the RL. That essentially made it pointless to get the RL flagship at the time.
2008 was a better RL (r.I.p.)
Just purchased a '12 TL Advance and it is one sharp car!! I love it. It drives so great and is a very cool car in my opinion. It's my 5th Acura and definitely the best of the 5 I've owned. Had an Integra, an '05 TL, an '07 TL Nav and a '10 TSX Tech V6 prior to my '12 TL. All great cars but the '12 trumps the others.
How's those cooled seats feel ?

i own a 2011 tl sh-awd for nearly 3yrs now and i appreciate this review. Very annoyed that you keep comparing it to honda because i test drove honda's 2014 accord and walked away because of how cheap it felt and fell in love with the acura that i tried for the first time that same day
I’m planning to buy one for my son. I heard the 2004-2008 are no old due to transmission issues. I hope it’s not the issue with this vehicle. Can you let me know because I’m planning to get the same as yours.

Everything that you don't like about the 2010 Tl I love it The grill love it stands out from all the rest.That's what I look for in a carLook i just came from a 2002 Volvo s60 so this a major leap for me.Love the room love all the buttons if you just look at the dash and can read what's the problem not boring like a lot of the other cars in its class.Great CAR Period.Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

i think this car design was ahead of it's time cause when it first came out i rearlly didn't like it as much as the 08. but nowadays 2023 this car is priceless & beautiful honestly.

My wife has a 2014 and i love it. Its not the fasrest Acura ever made but it still will get up and go. I love taking this car on trips...just my take. Great car.
I hated it but the 2012 really has grown on me. The car offers so much tech and a beautiful interior with 2 engine options AWD config, and some of the best driving dynamics for the dollar around. Styling aside for 2009 when people look at the facts Acura did nothing but improve and advance the tl for the 4th gen. It aged really well and manages to have the size of a full size boat but sport of AWD and power. It's just a nice car and great to get used because of the reliability
Nice review. I actually own a 2010 FWD TL and it's crystal black color. I think the styling at the front looks better in person. I have never got any critics about the styling from my friends. Many of them actually complemented it. I went to dealership and got OEM full body aero kit installed and this car looks even better. I however color-matched the silver shield-like looking thing at the back and tinted my taillights red. I love my TL.

I have a 99' TL with 250,000 miles on it and I can tell you they make great cars. The powertrain actually outlasts the lights on the dash if that tells you anything.
I just picked up a 2010 TL SH-AWD tech earlier this week! I traded my 08 RL for it and absolutely love it!! Say what you'd like about the styling but i love it! Ive gotten so many complements on it and haven't even had it a week!
I was gonna buy a 2012 model just cuz the grill is smaller. But after doing some research and seeing some after market grills. I would rather buy a 2009-2010 and replace the grill. They're a lot cheaper and leaves me with an extra $5000 to do anything with the car.

Great review! I owned '09 TSX and it felt like a more upscale 4 cyl Accord and traded it for '10 TL. The TL has more luxury touches and does feel a lot more upscale than the TSX, but it does have its flaws. ELS sound system was amazing, Milano leather seats were buttery soft, and absolutely no wind noise intrudes into the cabin, but it was the little things that you noticed after owning the TL awhile that Acura left out or overlooked that has me looking at Lexus, Infiniti, and the new '13 Accord
What’d you’d end up getting?
@@nickf4333 haha. It’s been almost a decade since the comment. I ended up with a couple of cars since. I currently own a 2020 ES350 and 2022 BMW X3. The ES is considered a granny’s car but I love my granny’s trap car. It has everything the FWD Acura TL/TLX does plus more.

Well this model 2009-14 run smoother than the newer version. Only for those who wants smooth everyday drive, not for those who wants power.
Should have tested the SH-AWD model, and to my eye this a beautiful car.

Just Got This Car For My Wife And She Is Crazy In Love With The Car!lol Im Not Too Crazy About The Design, I Kinda Like It But Not Lovin it, But I got A Feeling That All Cars In the Next 10 Years Will Look Like This. with It sh-awd I can rest assure knowing that my wife and my 15 months old boy will be safe when she drive in a snowy day here in ohio.

I don't know why people gave the 4th generation TL so much criticism when it came out. I admit that the huge beak wasn't that attractive but it looks so much better on the 2012 model. The TL is very stylish, distinctive, and stands out from anything from the road. Compare this to a boring Lexus ES and you'll see what I mean. The interior is so amazing on this car as well. What do you think sofyan?

Acura has gotten a really edgy since 04. I liked the 03 S-type TL since it looked simple. Good video.
I actually like this generation of TL. The styling grew on me and of course it still drives like an Acura should. Though this one you reviewed will clean up nicely the previous owner of this car was one nasty bugger lol.

It's a shame that this caused the MDX to be Acura's best seller. We had this exact car, but a 2011, as a loaner vehicle and it was a really nice car. It feels more luxurious than our MDX and more distinguished than our old TSX. This car is an excellent option on the used market, though I have mixed feelings with it new. It takes a really specific buyer to pick the 4th gen TL over other vehicles that cost the same; the majority of buyers are looking for RWD.

Still have my 2011 TL it's in mint condition rides great but the technology is getting old but other than that I love my car

Yeah, this looks MASSIVE and a bit silly with the beak thing it's got going on. The updated one is a /little/ better, but hopefully the updated one resolves the issue completely. And a 4 cyl turbo might be nice too

Does every used car i see with leather seats is worn out and losing the coloring this included? I'd rather have vinyl it lasts longer and looks the same. But, cloth is the best and looks good for years if you don't spill anything on it.

I'm feeling this car but next time, dude, clean it out before you post a video. It's kinda funny how you said that the TSX is like a fancier Honda Accord, where in Europe it actually IS called a Honda Accord (since Honda does not have the Acura name in Europe) and the US Accord is called the Honda Inspire (a more upscale looking version to be exact. I wish they had a version for RHD countries)

You need to drive the 2013 Avalon. THe interior on that car is very nice.
Hoping. Thats your key word. Upgrading model = higher price when they can already buy a RWD stick in competing brands at similar pricing to the FWD TL ;)
6:04 why is there a carseat?
Acura just can't seem to win when it comes to styling. This is supposedly "Too much", but now they're getting flack for making the RLX and ILX "Too conservative".
It really depends on the owner, you are supposed to use leather conditioner once a month but nobody really does.

If you told me the 3G TL was newer than the 4G TL, I would've believed you. They went a step backwards with this design imo
Thanks for the good review...but watch that you don't contradict yourself too much. You called the FWD 3.5L model "plebeian" and then a few seconds before that you said it "[felt] like a premium vehicle", and later said it was a "premium luxury sedan". It got a bit confusing! Just something to watch for to make your reviews even better. :)

Sounds like a PITA. Atleast car makers are going vinyl these days. Well they call it leather but it vinyl. Vinyl it holds up good in my experience ( old pickup trucks ). Mercedes has been using it for years and no one knew any better nor complained.

You can buy a used RL for the same price as a TL if you search but they're still overpriced.

Aren't those just the OEM 18 inch wheels available on the SHAWD model? I'm pretty sure they aren't 19's
They should've kept the same concept that they did with the 3rd gen.... This looks like a full size sedan not a sporty luxury car... I will most definitely stick to getting the 07 Acura TL ! It looks the best
