I love my 2012 Acura TL too. It is so comfortable and fun to drive. I have serious back issues and the lumbar support that varies electronically with a push of a button makes my drive a lot less painful.
The new transmission makes it feel lots quicker than the 5-speed auto. BMW 3 series will run almost 10k more with the same equipment, and the seats in the BMW will be distinctly less comfortable. I've had Acuras since 2004 and reliability has been perfect. Base model needs better tires, tho.
BMWs in my experience are always stiffer idk if it’s the run flats or what I’ve had 3 BMWs and just got a 2013 Acura TSX as a daily and most are surprised that me and my wife say the Acura is more Comfy
I have the same model, year, color but inter colored is tan. The interior in this video looks so good plus i don’t regret buying this used as a daily driver. Cons, i just wish there was a lot more aftermarket performance parts to make this TL a bit faster
@TheReapersSon Not Bose. Part of the optional technology package is Panasonic's ELS surround sound system. It's one of the best factory systems I've heard. IMO it's just as good as any of the Bang & Olufsen, Mark Levinson or Harman Kardon systems available on the upmarket luxury marques.
Now I'm actually considering this car over the 2012 3 series with the beautiful new redesign. Coupled with Honda's durability and pricing I could get a fully loaded package totaling around $36k - easily beats the base model 3 series. This is almost a no brainer.
hell no.The 2009-2011 looked horrible,they totally nailed it and literally perfected the look with this update.They also put a much better 6 speed auto transmission wich just makes the car better overall.
A pretty decent re-design. Although I would have also opted to subdue the rear trim as well since it gives the car a bit of a bizarre appearance when looking at it from behind. They should have an option that lets you pick either the chrome trim or just something that matches the paint.
Acura has OBVIOUSLY upgraded the TL to full-size luxury -- as opposed to mid-sized luxury. Because it's not HUGE and doesn't have an available V8 doesn't mean it can't compete with those vehicles that do. Remember, Honda doesn't make a V8. They have about a half-dozen different engines but they ALL battle with the big boys -- in the battles they choose!! I think this is a VERY bold move for Acura and I commend them for it.
Damn, this refreshed TL is really nice, especially in this gorgeous color. I don't need AWD so give me a base TL with the advance package. I'd buy this over a G37 now, Thank you Acura for realizing the 09-11 model was too ugly and bold. This reminds me of the beautiful last generation TL :D
Many of the systems rely on each other. For example, you can't have lane-departure warning without surround-cameras because you wouldn't have the cameras to see. City stop wouldn't work without adaptive cruise as the radar/lasers/cameras that control that wouldn't be there. Now as far as them rolling in lane departure with a moonroof, upgraded audio system, and a flux capacitor, I agree with you. That's B.S. because they're unrelated.
actually it's up to 100% of power to either rear wheel. i love my 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD, the AWD system is just the best out there, and honestly, i didn't like the polarizing styling at first, but it grew on me, and i love it, especially since the car is in Crystal Black Pearl exterior color. the car is packed with technology and just about the best car for the money. it's a futuristic car that you can drive TODAY :) can't wait to see Thor, featuring Acura as the official vehicles!
I hate it when car makers put safety features in the top-of-the-line packages without the option to get them with spending thousands. Really, you only want to give rich people the best safety features?
I looked at a few 2009-2014 TL videos a couple of people talk about the looks of the previous TL like it was not a great looking vehicle only gripe that I have with both TLs are them being FWD but other than that it's a great car I would buy any Acura product over a lexus anyday
Guys that would pick the 5 series over the TL knows little to nothing about practicality, value or quality. The TL will out live the BMW...twice over. And lets not even talk about price and quality differences.
@cizzlen07 Mark Levinson = Lexus vehicles. The ELS Acura is from Panasonic. Bose branded systems are of inconsistent quality. Some very good. (Newer Infinitis) And some mediocre. (Older Mazdas) I do consider Acura's ELS equal to the systems produced by B&O and HK. If you enjoy music, you should take a selection on your favorite tracks along for the test drive. Be sure to ask for a cars equipped with the upgraded audio system, and test drive all of your top choices before you make a decision.
@0HOON0 I thought Mark Levinson was the ELS system in new Acura's? Does it really stand up to B&O and HK? I know Bose sucks but for stock it was good enough in the early generations.
@hondaftw1234 doesnt the TSX compete with the 3 series? while the TL does compete with the 5. Since the TSX is the entry level car for Acura. but again i would think the RL competes more with the 5. but idk
@utubeyaw The Acura RL is suppose to rival the BMW 5 series and the Infiniti M but the TL seems to be the more sensible alternative considering they are almost the same size. Acura has a similar and confusing range of cars just like Lexus, the Acura TSX competes with the Lexus IS & BMW 3 series & G sedan. The Lexus ES is a larger sedan that competes with random sedans like the Cadillac CTS, Acura TL even the Sabb 95 sedan while the Acura RL competes with the Lexus GS, Infiniti M & BMW 5 series.
@0HOON0 Ahh thanks, I was totally confused about that for a minute lol. Bose is pretty good in my 00' Acura TL. I haven't been able to experience other premium sound systems yet but I know won't be settling for anything less. You'd think they should just come OEM equipped for such outrageous prices. I appreciate the helpful info Sir.
@Johncarson9113 thanks for your reply, i get confuse too,especially with Lexus, they have lots of cars which serve the same purpose and sometimes you wonder what it competes with. and one funny thing i found about the cadillac cts and sts and also acura, the smaller cts holds it's value over time better than the sts, same as the Acura, the tl seems to hold its value better when you compare the use car prices
I also love how these car designers make their shifters look as "manual" as possible, when it's just a pipe-dream that drivers of these performance luxury sedans would ever touch a manual transmission. Not only that, but they place the manual transmission only in the models that get the worst inherent gas mileage. What a joke.
In Japan this is the cheaper car when compared to the Accord. This car is actually called the Accord in Japan and is a run of the mill sedan, while the American Accord (know as the inspire in Japan) is the luxury model. Might want to keep that in mind when shopping for an entry luxury car. With this you're getting an overpriced rebadged Honda.
Why is it all modern cars have absolutely ugly front ends? Is it a trend in the automotive industry to make the most hideous, gaudy fascia design possible? Mazda is a contender for the worst, although Acura is certainly making themselves known as a strong runner-up with the continued flopping-about that is their design direction.
@atl3630 You have to give the rich dolts all the safety features because they're too busy paying attention to the phone conversation they are having about their latest sales reports and the day's stock trading activity to know what's going on around them on the road. Seriously though, that line about "lane changing a dangerous activity" is ridiculous. It's only a dangerous if you don't look before you choose your next path of travel.
Great now the front fascia of TL looks just like a TSX, what the hell is the point of these ugly cars. The TL is hardly a competitor to the BMW 5 series and Infiniti M37, although I will say they are a very reliable company but they really aren't anywhere near being on par with their "rivals". But looks are subjective so to each his own.
I love my 2012 Acura TL too. It is so comfortable and fun to drive. I have serious back issues and the lumbar support that varies electronically with a push of a button makes my drive a lot less painful.
Kelly Anya wht things should i look for while buying a used 2012 acura? Any common issues or problems with these cars?
The new transmission makes it feel lots quicker than the 5-speed auto. BMW 3 series will run almost 10k more with the same equipment, and the seats in the BMW will be distinctly less comfortable. I've had Acuras since 2004 and reliability has been perfect. Base model needs better tires, tho.

great review -- tight, fast, and no BS
the design is so good looking both inside and out
I have the same model, year, color but inter colored is tan. The interior in this video looks so good plus i don’t regret buying this used as a daily driver. Cons, i just wish there was a lot more aftermarket performance parts to make this TL a bit faster
my dad just got a new one and it is fast and handles well and it is beautiful to ride in
@TheReapersSon
Not Bose. Part of the optional technology package is Panasonic's ELS surround sound system. It's one of the best factory systems I've heard. IMO it's just as good as any of the Bang & Olufsen, Mark Levinson or Harman Kardon systems available on the upmarket luxury marques.
@@stevenlaub8535 I've heard some HK and ML that were markedly worse than the ELS.
My Laptop has B&O speakers lol.
Now I'm actually considering this car over the 2012 3 series with the beautiful new redesign. Coupled with Honda's durability and pricing I could get a fully loaded package totaling around $36k - easily beats the base model 3 series. This is almost a no brainer.
They didn't mention how kick ass the upgraded sound system is.
it actually looks good now from the front. i like. and because its a honda, you know its built better than anything else in the world. not bad at all.
The 2010 looked so unique, this one looks so pedestrian. I for one actually liked the big grille and sharp back.
hell no.The 2009-2011 looked horrible,they totally nailed it and literally perfected the look with this update.They also put a much better 6 speed auto transmission wich just makes the car better overall.
This one doesn’t have the prehistoric 5 speed and has a better grill
The first one looked like a German ww1 tank
A pretty decent re-design. Although I would have also opted to subdue the rear trim as well since it gives the car a bit of a bizarre appearance when looking at it from behind. They should have an option that lets you pick either the chrome trim or just something that matches the paint.

One of the best cars out there! Proven Winner
The mid-cycle refresh was definitely needed, and definitely made the car MUCH more attractive!!
Many of the systems rely on each other. For example, you can't have lane-departure warning without surround-cameras because you wouldn't have the cameras to see. City stop wouldn't work without adaptive cruise as the radar/lasers/cameras that control that wouldn't be there.

New front end looks Great!
The trunk space is a deal killer
love all your reviews!
The 2012 TL looks much better. Only thing that sucks is that there still no TL Type S
i actually appreciate the design.. the line looks more accurate..
This is going to be my next car.
I hate it when car makers put safety features in the top-of-the-line packages without the option to get them with spending thousands. Really, you only want to give rich people the best safety features?

i love my TL.
You should take one for a test drive!
Wow, the car has a very smart back end.
Guys that would pick the 5 series over the TL knows little to nothing about practicality, value or quality. The TL will out live the BMW...twice over. And lets not even talk about price and quality differences.
Does the all-wheel drive system have a rear wheel bias?
@BlackOpsAFG agreed, especially the back. I want this as my first new car.
You would think that they would at least have folding rear seats since trunk space is tight, and they dont!
i don't see whats polarizing about it
i was hoping the video would review its various features instead of telling me the specs. But overall, was good.
@cizzlen07
Mark Levinson = Lexus vehicles. The ELS Acura is from Panasonic. Bose branded systems are of inconsistent quality. Some very good. (Newer Infinitis) And some mediocre. (Older Mazdas)

i like the 2010 grill way better! this one don't look as aggressive
Same with me !!
i like the mdx
I think if i test drove one i would buy it
Thanks soo much kbb
i was hoping the video would review its various features instead of telling me the specs.
the acura tl is not ment to compete with the 5 series and the infiniti m but it is ment to compete with the ES
Since the TSX is the entry level car for Acura. but again i would think the RL competes more with the 5. but idk
i think there are way more options then mentioned?
I thought the same thing! Why can't they let the consumer choose?
@utubeyaw The Acura RL is suppose to rival the BMW 5 series and the Infiniti M but the TL seems to be the more sensible alternative considering they are almost the same size. Acura has a similar and confusing range of cars just like Lexus, the Acura TSX competes with the Lexus IS & BMW 3 series & G sedan. @hondaftw1234 yes it is they even said it in the video
Wow, look at all those buttons!
@datboiwes333
I know that but this car competes with the G37 and BMW 3 series. Not the M and 5. Idk why they said that in the video.
eeveryone I knw say they hated the old model but saw it in person and cant stop gawking at it
@dundermiflin892 TSX competes with the BMW 1 series and Lexus IS while the TL competes with Lexus ES BMW 3 series and Infiniti G37 etc!!
Honda toned down the styling I liked last years pointy aggressive look
Hell naw with that bird beak
price ?
i thought the Acura RL competes with the infiniti m and the 5 series?
I agree, I think Toyota Copied it in their new design of the Camry
What's the mpgs?
that is a really nice color
@TheNoobgotowned so whats wrong with them reviewing the auto version?
@Johncarson9113
thanks for your reply, i get confuse too,especially with Lexus, they have lots of cars which serve the same purpose and sometimes you wonder what it competes with. and one funny thing i found about the cadillac cts and sts and also acura, the smaller cts holds it's value over time better than the sts, same as the Acura, the tl seems to hold its value better when you compare the use car prices
where is the 2012 ford focus review??? come on!!
We have a TL!
Richard Zhang is it a reliable vehicle. Does it shows any issues with engine or tranny after 100## ks
whats with the beak really?
Hate the front and rear ends but ima Acura fanboy either way…!
I also love how these car designers make their shifters look as "manual" as possible, when it's just a pipe-dream that drivers of these performance luxury sedans would ever touch a manual transmission. I love it
"mid cycle re fresh" animation
Anyone notice the Morning Glory sign?
It really is a no brainer :)
I like it

they forgot to mention the Hyundai Genesis
@BlackOpsAFG Yep, Acura made this car more boring than ever with this "facelift". More like a stroke.
@xoquixxoqafxo
I agree. This car is sexiness defined =D
and how exactly will Obama take a car from someone?
NIce car !
Conservative exterior, but a very sexy one at that.

@datpimpinboy
Not in the same class
@scm11904 cuz it was uploaded today
Opel + Renault + BMW, powered by Honda.
i guess if you want a nice honda accord then the TL makes sense - but the car just looks boring to drive
@atl3630
You have to give the rich dolts all the safety features because they're too busy paying attention to the phone conversation they are having about their latest sales reports and the day's stock trading activity to know what's going on around them on the road. Seriously though, that line about "lane changing a dangerous activity" is ridiculous. It's only a dangerous if you don't look before you choose your next path of travel.
their is a morning glory road? lol thats funny
yea, bad acura designers :(
@acuratlnigga Go eat a pork chop, you'll feel better :D
i think it looks uglier
@flatblackstrat
Just like lexus is an overpriced toyota
toyota is TRASH
Enjoy it! Before Obama takes it away from you.
Honda/Acura get your head out of the gutter your rescent designs are ugly.
Great now the front fascia of TL looks just like a TSX, what the hell is the point of these ugly cars. you can put lipstick on shit....but its still shit!......this car needs a redesign immediately && not by the same ppl who redesigned the Civic
wtf is acura doing. they are starting to make UGLY ASS CARS NOW. shit i my 2nd gen TL still owns this ugly ass TL and the 2016
ewww tlx is ugly asf and smaller than the TL too... Tsx is good though
