    Great video. Proper and consistent anchoring is being a nightmare for me right now (5 months shooting a bow self taught). I think your video will help me a lot!

    This helped me out big time! I just got a hinge release and love it but I had issues with a consistent anchor point. Thank you for this.

      Bow Only Outdoors how is that nose button by the way? I tied a little bit of wax string on my string for a nose button was thinking about buying the bowmar one though?

      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 года назад

      You can definitely feel the points from the nose button over just a standard knot tie in on the string. It helps me stay centered in my peep sight longer as I pull through my shot. I recommend that you give it a try if you have the chance. Some people like it, some don’t.

    Love these videos!
    You mention bringing the string to your nose... when I anchor my hand the way you mention, and bring the string to my face/nose, my string doesn’t come close to my nose. I feel like it’s an anatomy thing, as my string angle should be okay (31.5 VXR), but the only way to get my nose to the sting is by tipping my chin down to “reach” my nose/face towards the string(?). The only other way I’ve found is to increase my draw length, but then I’m not lined up as you also described in this video.

      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      As long as you are consistent with it, it won’t be a problem shooting with it off of your nose. With that said, it’s easier to be consistent with it touching your nose. If you rotate your hand up more vertically, it can bring the string slightly higher on your face and bring the string to your nose. For some people that may be uncomfortable and cause less consistency because of the discomfort. If that is the case, shoot with what is most comfortable and consistent for you! The large bowmar nose button can often give you that extra bit that you might need to get the string to touch your nose also.
      I hope you find this helpful.

    Great. If only I had that much shoulder mobility.
    I have a lower than what's classed as a correct anchor.
    I'm 6'4" but due to dodgy shoulders I have a short 27.5 inch draw.

    Great video. Love the comparison between all 3 different types of releases as well as the correct and wrong examples.
    One question I have regarding the Stan PerfeX Resistance you're using. I recently bought my own (XL, Long Neck, Heavy Metal) and I've noticed that after setting the Resistance to where I want it to be, after shooting for a while the tension slackens to the point where when I let off the safety peg, it would fire. And when I go back in to slightly adjust it to make it just a has colder it becomes too much, as if it never moved.
    Has this happened to yours at all? I love the idea of a Resistance and Hinge release but I seem to shoot with a Thumb release a lot better and consistent.
    I love the feel of the PerfeX line so I may just switch out the Resistance for a Thumb instead.
    As for Hinges, I feel like I haven't found one that fits my hand well enough. I've tried a few, but I don't like the Stan Jet Black that much. Fulkrum Flex was nice but felt too harsh on index and thumb. Looking to try the HBC or HT Hybrid possibly.

      Hey Chris! It’s not impossible that the release is changing tension between shots, but to test it to find out, pull against a string on a hand held bow scale and it should be within a pound each time.
      Most of the time, it’s caused from inconsistencies in preload with the release. It can take a lot of shots to learn the groove and feel of the release. The releases tension stays the same, it’s just the differences in finger and hand tension, preload, and your arm and shoulder position. If you would like, feel free to email a picture or video of you shooting to contactbowonly@gmail.com and I would be happy to help in any way I can!
      Hope this helps!

    Hey Josh great video mate 👍🏼. What would the reason be if my arrow while at full draw is not sitting between my lip and chin even tho I’m anchored in a similar position as demonstrated on this video. The arrow seem to site low closer to my chin.Would love some feedback if were possible cheers mate

      Hey Shaun,
      There may be nothing wrong with the way you are anchoring. Typically on longer axle to axle bows, The hand will naturally be lower on your face. As long as it is comfortable for you and everything seems consistent, you should be just fine.

    Hi, I know this is an older video but I am having a lot of trouble with this.
    Whenever I go to anchor position (first two knuckles anchored in the upper corner of my jaw).
    I have trouble with face contact. In your video the tip of your nose touches the bow string. But when I am in anchor position, I have to tilt my head forward and down to have my nose touch the bow string. Pls help

    • @BowOnlyOutdoors
      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 месяца назад

      @@corn3459 this is common with longer draw lengths and shorter axle to axle bows. Hard to know without watching you, but try rotating your hand so your pinky and thumb are more vertical on your face so that it’s at less of an angle. Without being with you in person, the best thing you can do is to keep trying different positions to find what is most easily repeatable for you. You’ll notice on the shorter axle to axle bows, the hand needs to be slightly higher to get a more repeatable position. Consistency is key. I’d recommend moving the peep sight down and trying the anchor for that and just keep adjusting the peep sight and adjust your anchor to fit it to try the different positions. Hope this helps!

    I'm having a hard time picking a hand held hinge. I have small hands, any recommendations?

    • @joelvaldez1987
      @joelvaldez1987 4 года назад

      My friend gave me his tru fire sear and it is awesome. They have a micro version I hear is for smaller hands. Has a wide range of adjustments to it too. You will have to RUclips it it is different from other hinges.

    • @BowOnlyOutdoors
      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 года назад

      Any hinge in a size small should work well. Most people that I know that shoot a hinge with small hands really like the Truball hinges in size small. Try as many as you can and you will find one that fits your hands well!

    I don’t think you want a thumb button to rotate. At all

    • @BowOnlyOutdoors
      @BowOnlyOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +2

      Rotate is perhaps not the best choice of words. Transfer of pressure describes it better.
