Elite teams has the squad depth and player quality to overcome the tiredness. In FM 21 the player stamina bar can get really low too but there's always another option on the bench who's just as good
Good vid Z, like many others in the comments I would like to see this experiment redone when the full game is out but with 3 teams testing all the tactics, 1 title contender, 1 mid table team and 1 relegation fodder team, it would be interesting to see if the counter attacking tactics do work better with the lesser teams. What this video showed is trying to play counter attacking with a talented squad gives up control of the ball and often leads to defeat from smaller teams, or the Ole's at the wheel approach as we know it today.
doesn't it all depends on the squad familiarity with the tactics ? and the squad build ? playing gegenpress with lots of old players would be suicidal.
Yes, I would tend to agree. I will choose a formation for that team and play it only throughout pre-season and into the new season, by which time familiarity is pretty high. I rarely use alternative tactics, maybe one additional for the next season, or until my team has near 100% familiarity with my preferred tactic.
I would hold until we see the full game - I absolutely dominated with a barely-adjusted vertical tiki taka on FM21 as PSG. It's probably the default tactic that suits them best, so it doesn't surprise me one bit that they do well with it.
Looks pretty good so far, have pre-ordered. Only concern is most of the features and videos all seem quite large club centric (PSG, Dortmund, Sheffield Utd, Fulham). Interesting to see how the Data Hub, Transfer Deadline Day, Match Engine Animations, work with a lower league club and realism.
@@MatthaeusGT na the black and yellow colours like it's the real transfer deadline day. And how agents will sometimes come to you saying about their client and how they are available and for how much. Gives it a more realistic touch to it
Love the vids. I think the park the bus would work better as a lesser team. PSG dont have the best players suited for that kind of low block but interesting nonetheless.
Same team over and over, they seem to have played the same tactic, this is how a lot of players play the game. Pretty decent, but ya, it would have to be maybe 100 matches on each tactic.
I remember when I did the same experiment and posted the results at the SI forum. I got absolutely roasted. The post was actually blocked. Apart from that, props on making fun of Neymar. That was totally called for. =)
I know this is maybe a dumb question, but how does Z have all the transfer headlines still displayed in the advance game screen? I mean the one where each day is passed. On my rig the headlines are displayed like a second and as soon as the day is passed, it disappears? Is there an option somewhere?
Probably target man, you can see in the route one tactic there is also a TF role (occupied by Messi LOL), and route one tactic should always have a target man/target forward in FM22 i guess.
Has low block tactics ever worked successfully? I've always wanted to do a Mourhino style setup with a save but defensive tactics seem to be miserable in FM
If you are patient you can work with almost any tactic. I played 4411 with Deportivo in FM21 with lower line and mid pressure and it worked well for me. But this should be fixed imo. There is a lot of teams irl that are playing defense and counter attacks succesfully and its really hard on FM. Gengerpress is almost a plug and play tactic every year.
The main reason attacking works so well in FM is because getting the first goal is super impactful, especially against better teams. But I have played a lot of low possession football, before I turned to counterpressing back in 17 or so. High defensive line, low line of engagement, quick wingers, and chunky striker have won me loads of games. As well as 12 yellow cards a match, but they used all their subs on injuries and are still fewer players than me.
Just finished my first season on the Beta with Newcastle. Finished 3rd with 82 points. Played 4231 gegenpress every single game (switched to 4231 control possession to close out games I was winning). Obviously the huge transfer budget helped, but this "oh 4231 gegenpress doesn't work anymore" stuff is 🧢
Umm, my first tactic, since I start in the shitest league possible is to play whatever the players are best at tactic. Then one more structured offense and one more defence.

10 matches, and 1 play per match is not representative. It also doesn't take it account how your players may be better suited to one tactic over another... don't read too much into this video folks
Alpha is only for the content creators, the beta is available for people who pre-order. Beta release is roughly 2 weeks before the November 9th release date, according to Miles Jacobson.
Fun video but I hope no one actually uses this as real information as it’s pretty useless in that regard. Seems like you just needed to get an FM22 video out quickly?
That's not how you'd see the best preset. If you want a true statistical result, sim each formation at least 10 times EACH. Then look at the results after you've simmed each formation 10 times. Once could be an aberration. Also... What's the personnel running it? If you've got a bunch of Tonka trucks out there, running anything other than a park the bus isn't gonna have great results.

High block, quick tempo, high pressing systems will stock rock the game, per usual :)

Obviously a better team will play better up the field. On FM 21 I had extremely good results with lower defense against stronger opponents
My experience, low blocks, unless you are playing 2 defensive midfielders is asking for trouble with a traditional 4 in the back
I'll still keep playing gegenpress from start to finish. I'll just make sure of buying 18 stamina midfielders lol.

2-3-5? Damn that's madness. I'll def try something with 2 defenders at one point LOL
