this is my FM problem. i play the game for 24 years (since championship manager 00/01) but something i never had much patience was tactics. I use the formation a lot, usually with a ball playing midfielder and a advanced playmaker in the middle, usually controlling the ball or tiki taka. But I focus mostly on finding wonderkids and have very good prospects from all over the world, where i take my time to develop them and make the team stronger. I love finding good players from unlikely countries, I spend hours checking national teams and other clubs. Also even in the attributes I don't care that much besides 4 or 5, I tend to see the stars and mostly the scout feedback. So I can see myself winning the premier league with wolves in like 3 seasons. Only once at stoke I managed to win the premier league in the first season, pretty much with the players the team had. My focus has been mostly developing small clubs all over europe, instead of being a tactic pro which I definitely should have trained. Probably one day I'll try to win a premier league with a smaller club again, I still to this day don't know how I done it with stoke, and it was fm 09/10 or something. How on earth this guy has been playing the game for so little.... I mean I never played an fm version since 21, which is the one I play now. The adaptation of the tactics to the attributes of each player was very smart.
This tactic is genius! Used it for a Mönchengladbach (mid tabel team) Save in the Bundesliga .. won the League in the 2nd Season! Its really good but exhaust your players.. so you need to rotate much... Nice!
This strat is legit insane. I started as an employed Sunday League coach on Gunma which is in the second division of Japan wanting to attempt relegation. Ended up winning the J2 in my first season and then the J1 in my first season after climbing. I had Wycombe reach 5th in my second Premier League season after getting the promotion while spending 1.5m in salaries (second worst btw). Won 3/4 CL with Panathinaikos. Legit best strat ever, because it breaks the game engine.
Came here to say this. Realistically no one was gonna win this tournament without using a tactic like this. It's kinda what makes multiplayer FM less exciting than other games in multiplayer.
Well.... Playing fm17 as AC Milan, 3rd season, finally top by 1 point, playing a solid 4231, AF, attacking FB, inside forwards on support.... Added all these bits to the tactic and I've blown away some teams. Won the league and cup, UCL tbc. It's good!
His BPD on dribble more, his DM as playing their natural game as destroyer and creator, and tackle harder is also my first thing to do on day one if I am creating tactics. If he were not the winner of the world, everybody would say his tactics were crap because of too many contradactory mixups.
First question was fun because that's basically how real life coaches play their DMs. In fact, his entire tactic is pretty common for irl football, so I'm also a bit surprise to why this is impressive.
This is a superb video, with the knowledge dropped, the co-op with the reigning FM world champion, the great presentation, especially the animations and editing. Well done Zealand and team! Ichsan!
Very cool! One thing I realized is that its very similar to the Katana 4-2-3-1 ATT on which u already did a video when u covered the best tactics in FM
Thanks for doing this Zealand. I have seen other coverage of Ichsan's tactic, but you provided his insight, combined with your own observations- which are all immensely helpful. I am definately going to tinker with this in my long running save.
This is about the same tactics as what ive used for my Galatasaray and won 3 times the Championsleague in the first 5 seasons (after that i quit playing, am waiting on FM 2025). The biggest difference is that ive used it assymetric and my becks where wingback instead of fullback. I use the full squad with a lots of rotation, thats how i play FM for ages (since 1992). One side will be always on support while the other side will always be on attack. Which flank i use as attacking side depends on the rotation but the stronger and more expensive side is usually on attack. Another difference is that one of my defensive midfielder is on attack (the playmaker). For the rest its pretty much the same. I always use my own custom training schemes and the first thing i do is getting my coaching staff as soon as possible to +4 stars and dont stop searching for better coaches. It usually takes about 3 years to do so. With this ive reached to the possibility to sign Yamal for an astounding 320m euros, and after half a season with Yamal i quit playing. The only thing i can say is that i was lucky that Galatasaray already played with this formation and i tweaked it how it would fit me more. I do also play with 3 tactics with 1 being my main and the other 2 is used as extreme attacking formation and a more defensive tactics in which i can let my team play more offensifly.
@zealand bro you should ask this guy about the tactic also, he's the assistant manager to ikhsan during the world cup. He's the 'veteran' to partner with the 'wonderkid' hahaha Love your vids from indonesia since 2021!
Omg, this seems a lot like what Thiago Motta wants to impliment at Juventus. Wanted to start playing football manager but was scared. I a juve fan, I can start playing with the team I love and kinda use the actual tactics they want to impliment. Omg
His tactic looks a lot like Ten Hag his tactic at Ajax, especially compared to how it was remade by this swedish guy for football manager 2019. It had the two ballplaying defenders, Blind and De Ligt behind Lasse Schone (playing in defensive midfield) and Frenkie de Jong. It also reminds me a bit of a remake of a Pellagrini tactic for Football manager 2014. That was a 4-4-2 also based around what the tactic maker described as "interiores" as used in South America a lot. In that tactic one of the two inside forwards was an advanced playmaker that would tuck in and roam around. Upfront there was a Trequarista and a Complete Forward but I often found that a target forward would also work well (maybe to hold the ball)
This is legit Finalshot AKUTAC which was uploaded 3 months before WC happened. God of chaos was uploaded 6 days after wc ended, its 99% the same besides 2 instructions and author claims its not copied or inspired by the wc one, just 4-2-3-1 are usually "too similar" 🙄
Yo Zealand, thanks for doing this video, you've just rekindled my waning enthusiasm for FM. I've been playing for 30 years and never used or downloaded another players tactics, but after watching the video, I thought why not, never seen or tried anything like that, so I am and I don't even mind losing a game or two. Actually that last bit is wrong I hate it when I lose.
On Determination. I’m pretty sure on an old version of CM, the hints and tips displayed after hitting continue game showed that high determination would make an attacking player more likely to score or assist an equaliser or winning goal.
I've always regarded determination as a priority. I feel like if you have more highly determined players, you'll be that team that finds a way to score that 9oth min winner more often than not.
I don't (prioritized High Det players), but I also believe this is correct. I guess my thinking is if I managed to get 20+ world-class PROFESSIONAL-minimum players, trained them up and then whacked teams silly 3-0, in the end it doesn't matter if they have 5+ Determination more than me and score a consolation goal.
Hey Zealand, I just wanted to say I started a save with my beloved Sporting CP, I'm using a variation of the Amorim tactic, a perfectly symmetric 3-4-2-1 with inverted forwards. I applied all the team and positional instructions shown in this video and the result is devastating. With the new "FM25 DLC" fixes, I'm averaging 5 goals per game in the league, almost nobody can score goals vs me, and even Conrad Harder scores goals like Gyökeres. This is so crazy that it feels like cheating. I highly recommend anyone to try a fresh save, pick a system with proper positions that allow the same instructions and see for yourselves. Assymmetric tactics may not work as well since these instructions rely a lot on maintaining positional coherence.
Wild, I tried to combine the best overall tactic from fm-arena with the best 4-2-4 and ended up with basically exactly Ichsan's get a goal tactic after five seasons of trial and error.
As someone who literally always asks fullbacks to cut inside with the ball, sets center backs as ball playing defenders with dribble more, and uses DMs in support role even when they are lone DMs, I'm not surprised here at all. I think all of those instructions are far superior to the standard ones.
I think this highlights why a full rework of tactics is necessary. It doesn't make sense that tackle harder and having max intensity tactics is the standard to win. The penalty for these is not high enough. they should be used only in certain scenarios, and with very high risk. Also when you mentioned the width on defending as "narrow" that's not correct, the narrow option is on the "in possession" tab, should not affect your defending. I really don't think there should be so many individual instructions, it only makes the game engine more complicated and easier to break/overpower. The player role and the team tactics should be more than enough.
ermm, just FYI, "Tackle Harder" has been the winning formula since ... CM99? 😅 I mean, I stopped at FM06, restarted at FM20 (and only because it's free), and I "Tackled Harder" again. Still works. 😅 FM has always been about figuring out/breaking the game engine eventually. Because, at the end of the day, it's still just a simulation game.
Agree about tackle harder. I was part of a bug report first flagged in 2022 and it is still running, it was clear that the game didn't distribute yellow cards as it should in that I could play with stay on feet and the AI would kick chunks out of me and Id get more yellows. Opponents could accumulate over 30 fouls to my 8 and the yellow card distribution would be even, and at times Id have more, quite frequently the opponent would have none. We know SI balance the game so things like number of cards (and other things) mirror real life statistics and it was clear that distribution of yellow cards was unrealistic and not down to what happened in game but was balanced as per the numbers they feel are realistic. Of course despite a lot of evidence including our own card counts not rising when we used aggressive tackling this was said not to be an issue. So yes it needs a rework as currently as you have mentioned, Ive seen and the guy here said there is no downside to using them.
It's correct that the narrow instruction is in possession, but your team won't lose much shape in transition after losing the ball since they are inviting crosses and already was playing narrow.
It's very similar to the 4-3-3 Terzic by a guy who makes a lot of tactics, slightly modified instructions but every player position and role is identical.
I've been using a variation of this with many of the same principles using a 4-2-2-2 with 2 attacking midfielders and two strikers instead of the 2 wingers. It has been working like a charm. I added in a couple things from the video and its working even better.
Am Indonesian, been following you for years… This is a good fresh of air… Knowing our fellow country man won the world champ of my most favorite game. Congrats Iksan ma man!!
This tactic is OP. I downloaded maybe a week ago and literally you will absolutely wreck everyone in your league with only a decent team. Especially lower leagues. You will kill everyone in the lower leagues lol. For an example, I did a youth only save in wales, dropped all my players after the first season, and started my way in the JD premier with just the YA. We came mid table despite being "up against it" every single match... it is OP. My 6 CA striker was doing very well when he had no business doing so. Another example, Started in Gibraltar with awful Europa point FC. Ran the league and only lost twice..and those were the last 2 games after I already clinched the league title. I was losing players along the way and not replacing them and still doing well. It kinda makes things a bit too easy.
Funnily enough the closest team to this tactic is can think of in the premier league is slots liverpool. A lot of similarities honestly and they have had an incredible start.
I had only ever played manager career mode in FIFA. FIFA 11 through EA FC 24. And then I discovered FM 2 months back. Started my first save on 24th Sept. So about 50 days in, my save says I have spent 15days into it (30%). I can't just stop playing FM. I now regret playing Fifa for all those years. Another huge percentage of time has gone watching Zealand's videos. Tried this tactic out in my first save with Colchester in L2 and it is a beast. The intensity was too much for my players and i was littered with injured players. So I modified it from GenGen to a Possession based tactic, then made some tweaks to reduce the intensity and also removed all those take more risk settings. I managed to top L2, then L1, and now 10 games in championship, i am at the top. My wage budget is the bottom in the league at 190k/w (after converting all the transfer budget to wages and thriving of free agents). Everton at the other end of the spectrum is spending 2.5M/w 😂. My only regret has been delegating some of the contract negotiations to a high negotiation stat staff. They ended up agreeing to a 25% promotion wage rise clause for many players which has come back to bite me with every promotion. Now I do all negotiations myself.
Holy moly our football world is moving on fastly, we are on our way to the first ever world cup since independent, we have succesfully gone through asian cup at every age level, we won the e-sport, now we are the world champions of football manager. King Indo! ❤😂😂
I had a similar tactic in my England L20 to Prem save this year. Everyone was "tackle harder". I got something silly like 180 yellow cards but stayed up with a payroll of 70k p/w

The tactic is just the highest rated 4231 on fm-arena, no? It used to be the highest rated overall until someone discovered the 4-2-2-2
Yeah, most of the top 4231 tatcis on fm-arena are variations of this
Checked and there are differences in the backline
As a serial downloader of tactics, I second this
@@kielmeakin4901I'll never understand the people that download or copy tactics, whats the point?
Came here to say this. Realistically no one was gonna win this tournament without using a tactic like this. It's kinda what makes multiplayer FM less exciting than other games in multiplayer.
In one of his interviews, Ichsan mentioned that his first ever taste of FM were with FM 23, which is crazy considering he's a world champion now.
Bener bro tapi dia memiliki asisten pelatih yang cukup lama bermain FM dan sangat hapal betul pemain pemain sesuai kebutuhan taktik bro iksan
nothing crazy about it if you know how to exploit match engine, which ALL of the participants did.
@@javanessepride1705Berarti asisten pelatih benar2 mendukung kinerja Ichsan, kerja sama yang perfect
Well.... Playing fm17 as AC Milan, 3rd season, finally top by 1 point, playing a solid 4231, AF, attacking FB, inside forwards on support....
Added all these bits to the tactic and I've blown away some teams. Won the league and cup, UCL tbc.
It's good!
this dude looks just like zealandism its crazy
Crossover when? 🤔 😂
Nah, don't compare Zealand to that copycat.
Every time I see a new video, it’s a treat!
Yeah...almost *suspiciously* similar...
Thanks for doing this Zealand. I have seen other coverage of Ichsan's tactic, but you provided his insight, combined with your own observations- which are all immensely helpful. I am definately going to tinker with this in my long running save.
I just won J3 League UNDEFEATED with this tactic and a few tweaks. It's the best tactic I have ever seen.
“If you concede 3, but score 4 you still win the game” LOL coach justin iconic line going worldwide thanks to ichsan 😂
❤❤❤ @zealand from Indonesia
@zealand bro you should ask this guy about the tactic also, he's the assistant manager to ikhsan during the world cup.
He's the 'veteran' to partner with the 'wonderkid' hahaha
Love your vids from indonesia since 2021!

I loved this breakdown and will see how it works with a national level team in England.
Omg, this seems a lot like what Thiago Motta wants to impliment at Juventus. Wanted to start playing football manager but was scared. I a juve fan, I can start playing with the team I love and kinda use the actual tactics they want to impliment. Omg
The 4222 tactic is nearly identical as the tactic that were ranked number 1 at the time on FM-Arena
that is exactly what i just noticed. so what a genuis
Where can I find this tactic
Upfront there was a Trequarista and a Complete Forward but I often found that a target forward would also work well (maybe to hold the ball)
i love how he can manage his team's result with al ot of goals
It would be interesting to make the same video with the Germany team which had a different tactic shape
Not sure who did it first but Knap at the SI forums has pretty much build his tactics like this for multiple years.
Great Video. The FM World Cup has raised the bar of understanding the game - knowledge.
Basically "god of chaos" tactic from FMArena.. all of those over there are OP
@@Mordenhe literally just copied Katana 4231's tactics completely and talked like it was his idea, a total liar
Also before we had the Leadership attribute, determination and influence were the attributes to consider when choosing a captain.
Yo, what the heck! Half of the tactics he's using are so similar to what I've been using in my save. I can't believe it! That's actually huge! 😯🔥
W Ichsan. W video.
FM has always been about figuring out/breaking the game engine eventually.
Amen bro 🙏🏻
It's correct that the narrow instruction is in possession, but your team won't lose much shape in transition after losing the ball since they are inviting crosses and already was playing narrow.
It is affecting, because you got attack mostly after losing the ball during attacking period
This guy, Ichsan, really has some swagger. A good man.
oh i read it was "The FM Champ Explains His Titanic"
It's very similar to the 4-3-3 Terzic by a guy who makes a lot of tactics, slightly modified instructions but every player position and role is identical.
Perfect explaining buddy. Thank you for this video 🙂👍
Ichsan seems to understand how the engine is thinking...
Ichsan is the engine 😱🤓
Bravoooooo for this video
Props to this guy. Indonesian. What a talent.
he really love the game and the community
I've been using a variation of this with many of the same principles using a 4-2-2-2 with 2 attacking midfielders and two strikers instead of the 2 wingers. It has been working like a charm. I added in a couple things from the video and its working even better.
The world champ's alternative strat when desperate for goals is also 4 2 2 2, using AF attack and CF support
Am Indonesian, been following you for years… This is a good fresh of air… Knowing our fellow country man won the world champ of my most favorite game. Congrats Iksan ma man!!
Ichsan Rahman Taufiq, he's a guy who likes to share football strategy knowledge on his YT channel, he's just a good guy.
it's simply the classic broken tactics of the game, as there are every year since they introduced the gegenpress
just won the pl with united, first season with this. its crazy powerful
It kinda makes things a bit too easy.
well he just copied the tactic here: FM Arena -> sort by best. (it was there before the world cup)
Whoa learned so much, thank you both
they both "learned" (as in copied) from here FM Arena -> sort by best. (it was there before the world cup)
Fantastic video and realy nice editing
Funnily enough the closest team to this tactic is can think of in the premier league is slots liverpool. A lot of similarities honestly and they have had an incredible start.
Thanks for this so many ideas from this and #FM24forlife !!!!!
King Indo! ❤😂😂
Looks a lot like the Katana tactic. Very successful on testing.
Wait bro won a World Cup with Wolverhampton?? Effing Legend
the most crazy part is, Ichsan is only been playing this FM for one year
honestly i love this kind of content.
it is like investigation brilliant mind of master.
I had a similar tactic in my England L20 to Prem save this year.
Everyone was "tackle harder". I got something silly like 180 yellow cards but stayed up with a payroll of 70k p/w
The best part of the "Just score more than your opponent" mentality is that you save money on clean sheets 😂
That last quote was actually from a Dutch philosopher called Justin
Learned a lot from this, but also cool to see the bits that I use in most of my tactics. I almost always use get stuck in, run at defense,
