I agree. In the first video, RDF sounded like a man who's talking to the father of his girlfriend for the very first time :) Now, he sounds more comfortable and at ease.
This is the first FM where I decided I'd create my own tactic from scratch and just go with it (it usually never works) and these videos have been a big help! I now play my own version of a 343 with one of my wide players as an advanced playmaker, he seems to create so many chances and having my wing back stay super wide he always has so much space to run into! I'm trying to win the Seria A with Sampdoria so these videos are a great help!
1. Eleven players (cmon you can't go 10x11 at the start) 2. Goalkeeper (who will save your goals eh) 3. Captain (due to FIFA regulations) 4. Some tall guys for 2nd floor play 5. Some fast guys for.. running fast
I must say RDF changed my way of playing FM, with his help I managed to created an aggressive GenGen, promoted in Romanian First League in my first season, finished 3rd...4th...3rd and WON the league in my 4th season, also in my 5th season managed to reach quarterfinal of Conference
I had just played against Flamengo, best team at Rio de Janeiro, with my Fluminense. I've had lost the first game on the league against them. I have lost the first-leg game against them at the semi-final. So, I came back here for some inspiration and was pleased to discover your partnership with RDF, whom I watch constantly. And I saw this video and tried the stamina, work rate and all midfielder. It worked. I've won the second-leg game using it. Thanks, guys.
My main grip with FM is that all of these suggestions (even the ones in the first video) should be player/team specific but yet it's an all-size-fits-all. Every team no matter the talent level will have good results using these instructions. For example, passing into space with a team that's not good at passing should result in very inaccurate passing but in the current state of the game, you'll be lucky to have a game where your passing % is under 80%...
They literally said in the video that these aren't 100%........FM is a highly situational game, with thousands of outcomes, if youre only allowed to talk about tactics that are 100%, youd make zero content. Most people should be intelligent enough to know nuance and actually watch the video, so when they hear "if you dont have pace, you dont want to pass into space" the lightbulb in their brain might go off as to when they should apply this tactic. Maybe you just missed that bus.
@@2639theboss but they do work 100% that’s the problem. You have a higher chance of winning games doing this than playing any type of cautious play with a bottom team
Sven Bender at Dortmund was my favorite player back when they won two Bundesliga Titles. He wasn't a fancy passer, he basically scored no goals, but his work rate and mentality was amazing. Love such players :)
I find that having a very tall and strong Halfback with instructions to always mark the main striker tight and with hard tackles paired with high pressure and high line disrupts the counter very well.
I won the Premier league with Southampton on my first season in FM22. Used a 4-3-3 formation gegenpressen I made from scratch and few tweaks when needed. Adam Armstron as inside forward attack and was my best player along James Ward Prowse as mezzala support on the left hand side of the midfield.
A world class collaboration! Great video. I have been rather concerned about the use of Counter press and higher level of triggers as I had heard it wears the players out. So, when I do use it, I do have it on for about 60 minutes then turn it off. But there have been games when I wasn't getting the break-through and kept it on longer, but that is probably a problem with the tactic itself. I wonder if it would be possible for you both to stream a match where one uses a tactic that has all the bad parts in, and the other uses a tactic with the good stuff in. Mind you, it could be a bit like Burnley v Man City.
Personally i use often pressing, without counter-pressing(but without regroup) and standard or slighlt lower pressure line and it works pretty well. But i play pretty middle oriented tactic, 4-3-1-2 with wide midfielders and inverted wing backs and we play more narrow so naturally we have many players in the middle so we don't need to pressure oponnent so much - much better works for us if we keep our lines more cloesely to each other.
I really like basing tactics off of a Pep style thing and I am planning on trying something where I use standard pressing for the first 15 kinutes, switch to slightly higher, then after halftime come at them har
Love this pairing. RDF just looks like he is enjoying himself so much every time I watch one of his videos and always informative and Zealand is just his usual top quality self. The new Batman and Robin?????😀
Kieffer Moore and Dan James both being mentioned in this video is eerie lol. In my Holstein Kiel save I was planning to use them both in a front three after signing James for cheap. But then Moore was sniped by Gladbach via his 3 million release clause :/ F

The point about sexy football and lowering workload while winning resonates. As I constantly want to try and get more in games which means my players are worked harder.
I feel like pass into space only generally works against weaker teams and can give the ball away a lot depending on the opponent's formation. Like I'll never use pass into space against a 3-5-2 formation or 4-3-3 DM holding formation. I find what works best is to have a CAM and a CM with good passing and the trait try killer balls often so they'll decide when to play that deadly through ball into space on the counter.
if in the pre-game info dump, one of my players is saying they're afraid because their matchup is too strong, you might as well have fielded just 10 instead of 11. So yeah the relative strength thing seems to be decisive in FM22 in my experience.
I'm sadly a lowly console scrub atm and that in itself is frustrating as you can't load the whole game (even though the hardware would run it well enough you can only load 10 leagues, and I honestly wouldn't even mind some extended loading times for the ability to scout Africa and some other regions properly). Aside from that there's none of the training/team meeting/hierarchy options and that hugely limits your ability to train your youth into anything meaningful or create the cohesion or tactical understanding you'd like. I still enjoy the game but I'm going to have to invest in a pc to get the full experience and that sucks. ETA; I saw RDF in the first installment of this and went off to check out his content and loved it - really insightful tactical thinking and planning.
I started watching rdf last year when my tatics werent working. Now in fm 22 im able to make my own tatics and have them work effectivly and when my tatic isnt working with the players im more willing to make slight changes or even major changes in how i play in order to fit the team.
I use less then standard trigger press in some tactics and gotten some of my best and most surprising results with it. A memorable 7-1 win vs AC. Milan in season 1 at home as Bologna, 4-1 win away to FC Bayern in CL in same save season 2. Unless you are among the best teams in you league and never a big underdog trigger less as team instruction absolutely have a place.
Space eaters: Im a Newcastle United fan, the striker who went to be one of the best box to box/ ball winning/central midfielder attack player in the EPL, Joelinton. I don't thinl there is a description for this kind of a player in football manager.
When you play in a high or a very high line and the board of directors give evaluation and state we are very happy with the park-the-bus-style and I'm like which bus?
I've seen some really weird responses like this but the other way round - like currently in my save I'm two seasons in with KV Mechelen and managed to win the league both seasons (second time despite some really iffy mid-season form after the two month world cup break) and the analytics were claiming we were destroying teams with attacking football and difficult to score against despite conceding in every game and either drawing or scraping a one goal win.
@@rayeardley7618 my wife was pleased hearing this since she is a KV Mechelen fan. Im near the end in my first season with 9th tier Malvern Town FC. In the beginning of the season bookies said we would finnish 16th. All season long we are in the top 4 now if you click on pre season predictions it changed to 5th. I constantly get questions about why do you play park the bus (which we do not do) or why I choose for Gegenpress (also a system I do not play). :D
Aw kudos to your wife! I chose them because I wanted something different and have fond memories of a Championship Manager save I had with them in the late 90s... xD I wasn't prepared for the outstanding loans the club has at the start of the game - £36m total, £24m+ outstanding at a repayment of £1.1m per month! o.o' I had to get creative with freebies and loans but they honestly had a pretty good squad to work with at the club and were predicted to finish 8th with a board objective top half finish. We were grinding wins all season one game at a time and before I knew it we had thrown away a 15pt lead to just 5pts by the split and just got the first one over the line. Champions League group qualification second season made all the difference to build with and I brought Matías Arezo in for a cheap boost of huge value goals. It sounds like SI have done a strange job of making the very stupid staff at grassroots level making mistakes and failing to recognise your tactics etc much like a player at that level wouldn't be able to carry out too many instructions well.
@@rayeardley7618 I had no players in the beginning of the season. Did loads of 2 week trials and got some players in like that + 6 loan players. Can we get tactics that are flexible next? Like work into the box. Find pass into space a bit iffy, even will every advantage slow defenders, fast forwards, great cohesion its far from guaranteed. Find regroup more useful against the bigger overpowered teams than counter press. Don't like extreme pressing but seems to be working better than lowering it down a notch
You call them space eaters, I call them Destroyers because they are there to hound the opposition and disrupt play. So vital in any midfield, my favourite atm is Gagliardini plays for Inter Milan and is cheap but perfect for this role and always seems to pop up with a few goals too.
Seriously i need some help. I dont understand this game. I mostly play a 4231 tactics. I guess im old school and really like the idea with an OM as the star player that really impacts the game. Drop low with defense and engagment line, press really high and so on. They either cross over my defense or play one-twos to the stricker depending on how i put the settings. Im like clueless
If your opponent is sitting deep/is weaker and your dominating possession should pass into space be turned off? As that is what I do and all the best tactics seem to be pass into space with counters using advanced forwards regardless of opponents
Also be aware of the quality of the defenders. Sometimes you have a fast striker, the opponent is pressing high but they have super fast defenders with some aerial quality aswell so the quality of the pass needs to be higher to make sure the defender cant get to it.
If I'm at a good team I prefer to play violently attacking football. So I will have quick players with the work rate attributes and less technically brilliant players. 5-2-3 or 5-3-2 with Leverkusen was my go to formation and I became a European beast. My Wing Backs became creative monsters
How to play with a Caribbean club in fm22 Example, I can go to any Caribbean country and go to the major clubs and I will see all the teams , ratings and history, but I just can’t apply for a job on the Nintendo switch
On the playing wide tactic point, my go to tactic has very narrow setting with inverted wingbacks and inverted wingers, it’s a 4333 with two mezzalas so there’s an element of width there but aggressively narrow can completely overload the AI in the middle and cause a bit of mayhem
@@Matchew010 yeah think that might be the reason for the overloads tbh, surprised more people haven’t thought of doing it, more players you have the better
The higher line and pressing basically works for any team if your tactic is well disposed. The reason it works is that if you are a worse team your chance of scoring from regular play is really low, but if you manage to dispossess to opponent high up you have a chance for a fast counter while they are out of position. And once you get a goal morale usually goes up making your players do better on the pitch. I wouldn't try to pass into space too much if your team is way slower than the rest of the league. Go to Squad>Assistant report and check how your team compares to the rest of the league and go from there. But if you are playing 6th division its really easy to sign players for free that are good enough to win you promotion. Just go to Scouting>Players>Player search and add condition Contract status Expired. Click the check box Interested in transfer and sort by WR (world reputation). Now go through the top 30 players and ask them to join you for trial for 2 weeks. Once they arrive at your training facility you get basic scouting information on them and keep getting more through their trial. You can terminate any trial that you find too bad once you start seeing their stars and stats. Those that are good enough you sign permanently. You'll get loads of 3-5 star players this way and even young talent that you can keep with you all the way to Division 3-4. For example Dylan Thompsson is usually a solid CB that keeps developing all the way to division 3-4 and he should be without contract if you have a new save. Solid signing for Div 6.
@@freddykabuffke461 Yea, control possesion is pretty solid. Probably the easiest tactic to get right. Especially since it lets your low stamina players catch their breath while in possession. A high tempo game with high pressing will wear down lower league players otherwise.

Every time I play someone with a 12 in passing - they better cover ground because they are giving away turnovers :( Maybe in the Prem, it's more like 14 or 15. 12 passing? I just see them kick the ball right to the defender 10 feet in front of them.
I love the video, it seems they have very good knowledge of the abilities needed to play gegenpress only. I'll have to say that there are no general abilities you should have for all tactics. There are general abilities you should have for a tactic. Note: "all tactics" and "a tactic" are not the same. The players you have dictates the most effective tactics for the team.

@@Matchew010 yeah think that might be the reason for the overloads tbh, surprised more people haven’t thought of doing it, more players you have the better
@@jakehorsfield408 I use 5 mezzalas in a 43333. I completely dominate any opponent.
I’ve downloaded the skin for FM but how do I apply to the game?
Hahaha you play with FAC? Nice one. I coach the Sunday-League-Team where the physio of their 2nd Team plays haha.
I'd like to see a video clearly differentiating flexible from fluid and structured
what if I play UK tier 6 and use a relegation team? I don't have players with high stats. Will these tactics still work?
@@joeltarnabene5026 I figured that 433 dm control possession is a good way to go with low Stat players. Works also with 3 dm instead of 4 Def players.
@@freddykabuffke461
Yea, control possesion is pretty solid. Probably the easiest tactic to get right. Especially since it lets your low stamina players catch their breath while in possession. A high tempo game with high pressing will wear down lower league players otherwise.
Hi Zealand I hope you and your family are well. Can you please send me a link to send my save to you as I wish you to take a look at it .THANKS.
lol number 5, Lullojo are you watching ;). I know he doesn't just do it however at certain points he was only buying deeplying playmakers support lol
Hello. I finish my first season in 1. Bundesliga with team from lower divisions. I have success against weaker and middle size teams in Bundesliga, but struggle much against Bayern Munich, Dortmunt and Leipzig. I need a tactic "giants killer". Can somebody recommend mi some tactic?
I wonder what would happen if you combined the two videos?
The world would end (it would be too long)
@@ZealandonYT Maybe
@@ZealandonYT Imagine the best and worst things to put in a tactic in a tatic
i would also add...dont go lower than than 10 bravery on basicaly any player on the pitch especially in midfield duo if you play two
Never put someone with 17+ Aggression on tackle harder

Not pass into space
Perfect player for the ‘Space eater’ role is Soucek
Every time I play someone with a 12 in passing - they better cover ground because they are giving away turnovers :(
Maybe in the Prem, it's more like 14 or 15.
This whole time I thought I was a winger in Sunday league but apparently I play in the destroyer position cdm
Only 3 of these items are actually tactical, the other 2 are squad building
Dont smack talk Kieffer Moore he just helped secure us (Bournemouth) promotion to the Premier League, lets see what he can do!
Football is about geometry 📐 the world and it’s galaxy works on a geometric level, that’s why humans all over the world have embraced it. That’s what a University degree gets you! Thankyou Scotland! 💙😂
Why are you an American Tom Felton 😂😂 American Draco Malloy in da house troops
Space eaters... Raumfressers? Give something a German name and it sounds like a great tactical innovation.

ah you got me haha
"Creating space.. that's what football is all about" - well according to football manager, football is about blasting headers over the bar 15 times a match
I hate when someone says Hendo is only workrate or mostly workrate
Use these winning tactics
Score more goals then your opponent.
