- I just got married! ❤️ 🎉 Here's the explanation of five reasons we chose to date for 5 years before getting married. We have gotten questions about it A LOT, but it was the perfect timeline when it came to my bipolar, our ages, family and what's been going on in the world.

I’m bipolar and married for 10 years. I always try to keep in mind the advice of a dear priest: marriage is not just a noun, it’s a verb. Marriage is something you have to do, day in and day out. Recommit to it over and over again. Best wishes to you as a couple.
I can’t tell you how much I love this video! Congrats on your marriage. I feel so much pressure in Catholic circles to get married real fast. But as long as you’re remaining chaste and faithful to the church why is it anyones business? I have a very strong desire to be in a relationship for a while before getting married. I’ve been unable to justify this desire, but you’ve explained it perfectly. I’m also bipolar and because I am often very emotional I think it’s super important to approach decisions rationally and for me I will need a while before making a lifelong commitment.

On the vaccination thing, just my 2cents is that I think it's very unnecessary at this point. I had covid, never had the shot, but I'm just as protected as those who had the shot. In fact, the ironic thing is after 2 years of not getting covid, I got covid from my brother who was vaccinated. If there are immuno compromised people there, they could just as easily catch it from someone vaccinated versus someone who isn't. I think ya should let it go. I go to Mass every Sunday and there's no telling who's got the shot who doesn't but everyone's doing just fine. I think covid has really run its course based on the CDC numbers and guidance. I dunno where you're from but in my small town in Georgia no one's been wearing masks for quite some time now.
I also think it's kind of messed up because like, yeah, it's a choice she put our for people to get vaccinated or not come at all. But it does seem like emotional manipulation maybe, because if you don't do that for them, you seem like you don't love them enough. No hate tho, it's just quite wrong in my opinion.. I am happy tho to see them married.

Try saying that to someone who's been close to extended family and grew up knowing five generations of relatives. I lived across the yard from my great-great-grandma. A proper balance is necessary especially with the extended family being a helpful security blanket.
This is a thoroughly modern view. Yes, husband and wife are a family unit on their own, but extended family is crucial for child rearing and support.
@@tbw980371 Another push I consider: putting children to work like our great-grandparents had to. I find it unfair that kids work in third world countries very young yet the first world gets a pass. I think its led to the complacency of the past few generations apart from a broken spirit or trauma from constant wars since Korea and the post-NAFTA society. If I bring kids into the world, I don't want them to simply be idle and exist. They're the original social security. Most our kids in the country need more exercise. Its depressing.

I did notice that. Like Emma May McDaniel got married really quickly. (I think I know why, but I'd have to DM you). And Cambria Joy dd the same thing. And I got married really quickly because my ex-husband was worried about pre-marital S**. It would have been no problem for me, but he was waiting a really long time to get married (5 years).
Im glad I’m not the only Christian that doesn’t want to get married within 2 weeks of knowing someone 😅 hahah, at least I think that good qualities for a Catholic man are his patience, reliability and he being consistent all of which take time to work on.

Congrats! Tho 23 isn’t extremely young to be dating your future spouse. In many Christian circles the ideal age for marriage seems to be 20-25 for women and men -1 to +3 years within their woman’s age.
I’ve had moments of low key being sad for not being a young bride and what it represents (traditionalism etc) I’m 24 and single.

ALWAYS follow the Catechism. If you are unsure of something and different priests are saying different things look at the Catechism for answers. There is so much info out there that it’s sad that a lot of Catholics turn a blind eye to truth.

I am more disappointed to hear that loved ones actually went and got the jab just to be welcomed at your wedding. That's insane! It's not even a vaccination, "vaccinated" are no more protected than unvaccinated. It is not Catholic to discriminate. Sadly this topic is still a dividing factor in friendships and family. Praying for people’s faith in the Lord, rather than the false science that has been projected on most of society.
Some people have compromised immune systems making them susceptible to possibility of life threatening illness. It shouldn’t be too much to ask to keep a loved one, family or friend from harm or even death. Once upon a time, our country valued safety and care for community over individual “freedoms”.
