Just because the floor looks the same, does not mean is the same type of surface, therefore it won’t give you the right traction, reason as of why these cars let’s you adjust the rpm before launch, so you can kind of figure out which would be the optimal rpm for that specific surface. It will spin but will put the power down faster, it is obvious more complicated than 4 wheel drive and it won’t be as effective, but sure as hell won’t be that bad.

my thoughts exactly, this race went exactly how I thought. On prep with a radial the gtr would get out but the gt500 would reel it in.
Major downside is the DCT factory parameters limit the power at lunch in Shelby

@@bim_jean9997 you mean fastest stock Street legal 1/4 mile car between Ford, Chevy, and Dodge but Ford has the Cobra jet which is the fastest drag car out of the factory but it is not street legal but when it comes to actual 1/4 mile racing throw some boost on a mustang or a Camaro and they will destroy the demon not matter what the demon does to make it faster mod for mod dodge is in the back followed by Chevy and Ford and you do know there are plenty of European cars that beat the demon in the quarter mile stock right?

The MPH of that GT 500 was wicked crossing the line. I'd like to see.a proper burnout along with some drag radials AND a manual launch on the GT 500.
The Shelby and Mercedes are both 2 beautiful pieces of eye candy 😍. The Shelby though looks stunning from any angle I think.

That GT500 is a beast!!!
As an owner of a supercharged 2020 Mustang GT auto it was quite clear that the GT500 driver had no idea how to drive such a vehicle. When you launch the 500 you have to do it at an rpm that is enough not to make it bog but not too much where it just spins and does nothing. Takes a lot of practice and you need a really good semi slick on a dry road.
The gt500 should’ve brake launched instead of launch control. The launch control doesn’t do the gt500 any justice. Surprised that most people who bring their cars don’t really know how to launch them. Otherwise great race! 🚀
Yeah. It looked like he was launching it from idle. That was extremely disappointing. I don't even care for the Mustang, but this wasn't a true representation of the car at all.
Gt500 launch control has a built in delay
I would go so far as to say the GT500 launch control sucks. I've seen countless videos where that method of launch kills the potential of the car. No launch is the way with that car, you just have to learn to do it yourself

I think the M177 engine is very underrated in those applications - the C63S Coupe dynos at what would be around 550 crank horsepower lol.
@@VersanGetryx I know they use the same engine in different models not sure how much power the c63s makes from factory,one thing I did notice the first time I drove my 2021 gts was that the car felt too fast for the hp they claim the car makes and I own another two cars both make over 1k whp so its hard for me to be impressed by a stock car and I was very impressed by the gts

@@sulkmahidonkeydek3424 It won the roll races and that driver in the GT500 was really bad from a dig. No one uses the Launch control in a drag race with the GT500 its faster doing it yourself. Learn your cars more and how to drive them. These computer control cars take the skill and fun out of driving. It takes no skill when the car does it all for you.

No surprises here but I didn’t realize the GT500 was heavier the the GTR.
The GTR is AWD which is why it was easy to launch

Sam , my suggestion to you is looking into a Jdm importer. The GTR came out in 2008 in Japan and you could import one next year for much cheaper than buying one here. In my experience with owning a few RHD JDM cars is the quality from Japan was much better.
Have to love Canadian 15 year import law.
I have to say it is the craziest drag race in your channel so far. Again awd laughs in a dig and HP talks in a roll!
Love when RWD people say roll races are what counts. Like that’s the huge draw back of RWD, u got horrible traction then they just want races to fix their handicap lol. AWD technology cost money and has weight.
You get a car based off what you want. Personally I love RWD v8’s. . I don’t race from a dig ever so for me it doesn’t come into play. I do roll races occasionally but mostly just like to do pulls on the freeway by myself and enjoy my car. I guess some people race from stoplights so they would want AWD but for me it’s pointless. It’s not a handicap at all. It’s different applications. This video shows the cars are good at what they are made for. The gt500 is a monster that’s why it walked both on a roll, and AWD did what’s it’s designed to do, hook fast.
Also what is a RWD person?? What country are they from? Where did their descendants come from?? What culture? What’s their history?? Lol people are people don’t get too caught up in it

prepped surface still doesn't always help rwd. i own a REAL high hp 6.2l sedan so i know. but i really REALLY wish the company would make a awd version.

In most 1/4mi races, the GT500 will trap 10-17mph faster than either of those cars which is huge

I’ve had multiple Mustangs that I’ve modded, but I want a GTR. I have a AWD SC Range Rover and that AWD makes a huge difference!

Did that year amg came with launch control? My 2021 does by the front grill the one used for this test its a 2017 or older not sure if those came with launch control the newer models also make more hp but so does the gt500 an amg GT black edition will be need it to race the new gt500

People need to understand it’s not just about raw power… other things comes into play, power to weight ratio, rwd vs awd.. transmission.. throttle sensitivity etc etc

Isn’t there a delay in the launch control in the GT500?
You don't even hear the engine reving.
There is a delay, it’s very minute but if you’re trying to cut a light or get a good reaction time, you always have to take the delay into account.
The GTRs performance makes you forget they've been making it for 16 years now, if they ever replace it they'll have a tough act to follow

gt500 is a beast
On stand still, GT-R shines because of superior AWD system, while the AMG and GT500 are RWD too much power for 2 wheels to handle. GT500 performs poorly on standstill because of RWD, the traction control/launch assist is terrible, the RPM just goes down too much to maintain a good traction, it may fare better with manual transmission, better tires and better driver. On the roll, the GT500 blows everyone away, while the AMG GTS beats the GTR due to better power to weight ratio. GT500 bring smile per miles or great HP per dollar with lower MSRP than GTS and GT-R.

Most impressed with the launch of the Mercedes. Love that gt500 but notoriously hard to launch. I thought the gtr would walk both from a a dig but that Mercedes had a good launch. From a Roll it was to be expected the gt500 has too much power.

Major downside in the Shelby GT500 is the DCT factory parameters limit the power at lunch. That's a problem with DCT transmissions at times but DCT is still better in almost every other aspect compared to torque converters.

As impressive as the GT500 is. Its launch control is probably the only notch on that car.
AWD on the street is unbeatable so no surprise the GTR handed the other two cars Ls. Yeah it’s long in the tooth but it still handles its business. That said two weeks ago at GLD in Union Grove WI (mediocre 2300 DA), I saw a stock GT500 on oem Michelin’s, run consistent 10.80s-11.0s at 130-131.5. The driver was heating up the tires and using LC. It sounded great going down the 1320. So the roll race results here were expected, the GT500 is a gorilla. Great vid Sam.
We used launch control and heated the tires. It was already hot. Nothing will change if tires don’t hook or it’s not prepped area
@@SamCarLegion for sure. A lot of commenters are clowning Carlos but I bet they wouldn’t do much better launching a 760 horsepower RWD car on street tires on the street. Easier said than done as they say.
