Honestly, sometimes I feel this was done on purpose to make AMD look bad. I don't know but it's very weird if you ask me because the Envy's with intel chips are calibrated very well. On the other hand, the AMD ones are messed up with no logical reason. And the issue isn't with the display, in fact, the display is very beautiful. So, why mess up the calibration and make the screen look yellow?
It's weird that you couldn't get a better configuration. I walked into an HP retailer store, given the guy a configuration I want - basically this plus 400 nits screen, 1 Tb SSD - and placed an order. I live in Belarus btw, can't imagine this to be a problem in UK.

What about the 1000 nit screen option? Do you think it's better than the 400 nit ? I heard with the integrated privacy screen on the 1000nits makes it a bit grainy on white screens.
If anyone runs into the problem that the internal microphone is labelled as 'unplugged' as I did, downloading AMD Adrenalin to auto-update the drivers worked for me.
You can change the way the F keys work in the BIOS. I also find it annoying to press Fn first, I prefer to press Fn to change brightness or the volume. The HP key stopped working after I installed Windows 2004, which btw is giving trouble with the sleep state of the device (this is not an HP issue directly, as it seems to be related to a Windows10/Ryzen mismatch).

@@faxxemusic I mean, not for me. It happened again after I updated. Hi Mike. As a foreign student who study in Britain, it's quite frustrating to find that many cutting edge devices are not available in the UK market plus the UK has rather high vat tax (20% as I know) which leads to the British customers to pay more for the same deceive compared with American customers. How do you think about this fact? By the way, it's an excellent video and I am following your channel sir.
Higher vat usually results in free or better care in other things. For example we have free healthcare in the UK. NHS do a great service (despite them always receiving cuts). To my understanding USA doesn't have free health care?
I just bought the HP Envy X360,2 in 1 core i7, 16GB ram, 512 gb SSD, and it’s not opening. I ordered it online from HP website brand new and it’s not opening. When I try to charge it, the orange light comes on then goes off. I pressed the power button so many times and hold the power button long enough but it’s still not responding. What could be the cause?
How is this laptop holding up? I was going to snap buy this, but I kept seeing post after post about the hinges breaking on these models. Which is a real shame because aside from that, these are fantastic specs for the money.
Nice review! How does this laptop perform when the underside vents are mostly blocked. 99% of my use is web browsing with the laptop on the stomach in bed. Is the fan off when the lowest performance setting is selected?
Yes, the power button is only an issue in tablet mode. I found unfolding it past 180° reactivates the power button. But still, not the best design choice by HP.

My unit also has this yellowish tint. It's not complete yellow but it is on the warmer side.I don't think it's bcoz of the anti-glare tech bcoz this is a very reflective display. The calibration setting i use is 4down for the red and 3 on the green...It looks great then.Only problem is when i'm rotating the screen it flickers for a fraction of second to the original color to adjust for the screen orientation. It's a little bit annoying for my OCD lol but yeah the colors are good now...

That is a BIG plus. Try living with HP Spectre line, they have only USB-C and need a new charger 1-2 times a year. Short-living are both original HP chargers and all cheaper ones I have tried. Envys are perfect, they can use USB-C chargers but are actually delivered with barrel pin chargers.
Brilliant review . Thanks Would you do me a favor and answer my very important question . Does its USB c port able to run for example 2 external hard drives, external monitor, mouse, keyboard and may be an ex speaker in the same time?. Another way to my question I don't need to carry a USB c hub that need's power to run but I need to carry a very tiny USB c with mulitiple outs (HDMI, AUX, USB A ....) in may bag and to be able to run all these things through this labtop's USB c on the go. Does its USB c has this much power or wattage? or how much the limit for this labtop or all labtops if there is a general answer for all type C's? . Thanks again and I'm waiting your answer kindlly.
Chatted with a tech and the solution was to uninstall the graphic drivers, then go to the AMD site and reinstall the drivers. Restart to finish the set up and everything worked great from there (well, functioned I should say...the Envy's internal mics aren't that great).

Dear Mike, agree with the other viewers. your are the best reviewer with a calm and collected manner. You could be a lecturer ( I used to attend a lot of lectures at university and lots of professional conferences) . Keep up with the good work.👍🍷.
Great review
Pointed out all the pros and cons 👍
13:12: nice résumé ;)
awesome review! i have a question which is that is it still buyable in May 2022? The price is same(in my country) with aero 13 which has ryzen 5800u and 16 gb of ram with 1 tb ssd which has same amount of ram and storage with this device. Please help me to choose the right one. I like the chasis of this device better fyi
got one of these, thanks for the tip for making the screen color better
Wow, the review was incredibly indepth, I didn't got the information u gave on any other review of this laptop. The software power button is a really bad feature for me as window freezing happens sometimes n then you're gonna be stuck with the frozen screen. I wish hp had chosen a better placement for power button and fingerprint reader.
Anyone have problems with windows crashing after waking out of sleep mode with this thing? I’m sending my back for a replacement
yes... its drivers or bios or something else... after updating problem seems less frequent
@@faxxemusic I mean, not for me. It happened again after I updated. But I didn't take it in cause I dont' wanna be without a laptop for 6 months, cause the guy took six months to cheat around it with downgraded windows and a downgraded SSD. I ended up disabling sleep mode. I don't recommend this. You get what you pay for
wow, I really enjoy this review, thank you!
Excellent review mate. You obviously know your stuff!
Hey noticed that the keyboard is the US version, do they come with the UK style keyboards? small enter keys are annoying.
Thanks very much for the honest review.
can this run games like warzone, doubt it since warzone is a heavy game but wat abt something like fortnite
Thanks for this review, I appreciate you noticed that it probably due to thermals it doesn't go up to 4.2ghz, any thoughts on that?
Hello can you do a comparaison between the yoga slim 7 with the same configuration plz ?
Thx a lot :)
Thinking of picking this up. One question tho, can I charge the laptop with usbc? Thanks in advance. Lovely content, subscribed.
You can disable Fn + F1 keys in bios, and switch it to normal F1 keys.
Nice review! How does this laptop perform when the underside vents are mostly blocked.
99% of my use is web browsing with the laptop on the stomach in bed. Is the fan off when the lowest performance setting is selected?
Its ok for web in bed
hehe, "web" in bed. just admit it, its phub.
Hello sir, how’s it going after a year? I am planning to buy this in India with the Ryzen 5 processor. Anything I must know before buying?
Thanks for the display calibration idea
I have a problem with the screen freezing. It will un freeze if I turn it sideways. Any suggestions?
I dont think so, it depends on cause of the feeze.
How do you get to the colour calibration page? doesnt appear as an option on my pc.
when I lower / raise the display I hear a slight creaking coming from the lower body, as if it were not welded well ... should I return it?
That power button sounds like a real letdown.
The only bad thing about it is that you can’t turn on the device in tablet mode
Yes, the power button is only an issue in tablet mode. I found unfolding it past 180° reactivates the power button. But still, not the best design choice by HP.
@@DeeePYP another issue I have is that when I write in tablet mode the screen always senses my palm and brings up the onscreen keyboard. It’s annoying when I’m taking notes if u kno how to help let me know
can it be fixed?
@@deadstar962 I noticed this too, but it wasn't a consistent issue. I didnt notice it as much when using One Note. I no longer have the Envy. I returned it bc there a clicking noise that I believe was hard rice related. I was expecting an exchange, but they have me a refund because of lack of inventory.
Great review! I just got this laptop, i noticed that when using lightroom the laptop starts to get a bit hot en make some noise, i was just wondering if thats just normal and if anyone else is experiencing this? I just got it since yesterday
Why i cannot find this anywhere. Its out of stick i need it badly
Hey, how it works by using FL or other audio production programs??
So do you like it for what you need ? What’s your overall opinion of it ?
How is the hinge holding up?
thanks for the nice review, can I do video editing with davinci resolve 16 in 4k in this laptop?
That’s what I’m trying to find out also
You can, the 4700u is powerful enough with it's igpu
Is this the 13. 3 or 15.6 model. No mention in the title.
The best feature of hp envy x360 is its hinge is going to snap in front of your face for sure
I want to buy it ...but I got to know it's has so bad hinge problem so now I am confused.... how's your doing after so much months of use...
atlast someone has told the truth. the display is yellowish in my hp too. i have done the color caliberation with out satisfactory result. i will follow your 2 notches of red and 4 notches of green. hp tech india is saying that it is in the design of antiglare displays. i really dont understand the logic behind this. how can hp take for granted that this feature is going to be liked by all. personally this was really annoying until i got used to it by doing some not so satisfactory color caliberation.
honest review
thnx
My unit also has this yellowish tint. It's not complete yellow but it is on the warmer side.I don't think it's bcoz of the anti-glare tech bcoz this is a very reflective display.
The calibration setting i use is 4down for the red and 3 on the green...It looks great then.Only problem is when i'm rotating the screen it flickers for a fraction of second to the original color to adjust for the screen orientation. It's a little bit annoying for my OCD lol but yeah the colors are good now...
Thanks mate, i've been using usb c pd charger and with my 2019 envy. Some of the newer type is the GaN type, which can deliver 65w in a body not much bigger than phone charger. Amazing stuff. Just make sure you also buy > 1m usb c cables and you will be very happy. Your back will thank you.
The funny thing is the charger isn't even heavy lmao
Great review!
Excellent Review. Thumbs Up. I didn't get the laptop display size though! was it 13, 14 or 15"?
This is 13
Great review. It would have been nice to know about how long it took your to arrive because I am on the same boat. The laptop is taking forever to arrive. Anyways, great job with the review it was really informative
Could the screen calibration tip work for the 15 in version of this envy laptop?
Could you give the full model number please? The only model I found has a numeric keypad on the righthand side, which I can't stand.
That's sounds like the 15 inch version. This is the 13 inch model.
Hello! Liked your video lot. Have subscribed to get more performance updates on this machine. How are the AMD drivers? Do we need constant updates? Thanks
I purchased the same model a few days back and the battery drains 2-3% in 10 mins of normal web browsing. I contacted the HP Support and asked me to update bios and other windows update but I still get the same result. Is this normal or should I send back the unit for replacement? Anyone faced the same issues?
Year is 2020, virus is taking over, 7nm chip.. but a barrel pin charger??!!
Thanks
Would you do me a favor and answer my very important question .
I dont really know, I use CableMatters usb dock and it works with two USB drives and HDMI connected.
Any idea when this 4700u 16gb is coming to Canada
Hi - have just got this laptop but am having trouble activating the microphone. I assume there is an internal mic. Any help please.
Chatted with a tech and the solution was to uninstall the graphic drivers, then go to the AMD site and reinstall the drivers. Restart to finish the set up and everything worked great from there (well, functioned I should say...the Envy's internal mics aren't that great).
Can I get LTE 4G on this model...??
Sir can I render video faster by this ???
is this Hp envy x360 compatible with a Hp tilt pen? if not are there any alternatives?
Do you find the screen small
