Just snagged the Ryzen 7 model for my wife from Costco for $749 to replace her 2013 13" MacBook Pro Retina. Very excited. Great review as always!
Looks like a great deal!
@🔴Warped🔴 for real it would be the go to reccomendation for anyone. We just got it today! Feels amazing in the hands.
@Twunk But Apple ecosystem, restrictions, and price/performance ratio are all bummers.
@Debasish Dutta the only one I've seen with the ryzen 7 chip
Twunk You think Apple is reliable?
Was looking for this! In a bonus I got a review from someone I trust. Thanks. Happy Canada Day to my Canadian peeps.
As far as reviews go, I don't know if they can get any better than this. Accurate, concise, to the point and covers everything. Thank You Lisa.
Yes! I've been hoping for one of these, and just as it came back in stock on HP's UK site. Thanks so much as always!
For uk there is no 400 nit option which is a bit annoying as screen is quite glossy so 300 nits might not be enough to see clearly in sunlight
Babylon Era yeah, same here in Belgium, even the Ryzen 7 version...
@@hf2943 it is REALLY frustrating. I'm thinking about holding off just in case they released that model later this year. Fingers crossed...
Its in stock at currys
I mean I can't quite comment being in the shade most of the time if I am outside but I've found it okay with the contrast being very good. Depends on if you're tan multitasking I guess.
finally a time where good laptops are coming out with good value to performance, still on the g14 hype train review and the energy carries over here
Still waiting on something high end. The G14 has a terrible screen. 4800u thin+lights don't seem to exist in the US and even in regions where they're sold they're not available to buy.
You can grab this one , ryzen 5 better than an i7 in every way ! It has 2 more cores at higher clocks as well and gpu is like 2x of intel ! So you can throw any ultra book level task at it ! If you do software video encodes then only the vega , or if you want some low settings gaiming!
@@rahuldogra inter ires Xe is better than amd integrated gpu...
Lisa, I ENVY your yellow t-shirt. Quite befitting of our Texas weather...I am getting the HP Spectre but hmmm....
ActiveDodger i see what you did there lol
Ur going the wrong path ! Worst battery life, if you re doing something more than word! A lot worse cou performance and bad gpu as well ! Vega 8 is close to mx 250 graphics! Intel ultrabooks just are annoying with their fans when ever you use then plugged in
why would you get the spectre wtf
@@recursivefunction3965 I did get it and it is pretty good. No real issue with battery life either
@@ActiveDodger Did you get the new 14 version?
The last laptop I bought was an Ivybridge i7 in 2012 and even though I pulled the trigger on the 4700U model because of "the C that shall not be named" stock shortages I can now sleep well at night knowing that it has gotten the Lisa endorsement :)
She shoots and edits these videos herself? If she does im really impressed!
me too 😳
I remember when I was in middle school watching your videos about Androids, specifically the RAZR and Droid Thunderbolt. Now I’m in the IT field as my career and came across this video and it brought me back some old memories.
"We're gonna look at it now." YASSSS. "A lot of niceness for the price" - love it.
@Ahmad Qahtani 😹😹😹
One of the best tech review channels out there... Glad I stumbled upon it by chance. Lisa explains it quite well in her own unique and funny way with keeping an eye out for little details which most consumers are searching for. Subscribed.
Lisa has been around for years, and you will struggle to find anyone who goes into more detail. You e made a wise choice 😊
Just saw one of these at best buy and it really stood out, than I looked at the sticker and saw 6 core at around $1000 in Canada and was floored. AND has a touch pen, unbelievable!
Imagine if Lisa was a university professor
They’d be curious as to why she’s selling laptops in the middle of lectures.
She is. Welcome to RUclips University
I had a calculus teacher that looked and talked just like her!
I had a photography professor who is just as peppy and knowledgeable!
I would record her every word. She talks so fast but full of so much great info. I end up watching twice or more if the kids interrupt.
I've been waiting for this review!!! :) Thank you
i love the tiny footprint. if they did all the same principles in a 17 inch, allowed some thickness for cooling and hardware, itd be awesome.
suprised no one has made a current 19inch in the old bezel sized 17inch laptops. thatd be a glorious behemoth. honest mobile desktop lol
i also would like a 19 inch laptop, they are going lower and lower on size, and man i need a larger screen to design. I mean 13-14 inch is not large enough, 17 inch for me is nice in a 15 body. But id love a 19 inch
@@nadlax5920 hp has been pretty shit with temps in my experience. my moms and my ex wifes laptop are hp and i did the maintenance for them. ran hot as hell and full of bloat

The measurements on the display are pretty damn impressive. The display is better than a lot of other laptops that are much more expensive.
Fantastic review. New fan here. She addressed two things are typically overlooked: handwriting performance and the power brick size. Thanks!
I got the 15.6 inch Ryzen 7 one. It is a great slim and professional laptop, very quiet and the touchscreen (wit and without pen) is very usable. The laptop feels sturdy and isn't too heavy.
Only con so far is the out of box experience. The built in microphone wasn't instantly recognized by windows because of the drivers. Took be quite some time to find the right drivers to fix the problem.
Aside from that it is a incredibly good choice
have you ever had any wifi problems, and how is the hinge?
Always straightforward reviews. Thanks!
hi lisa! bought one of these in February off the HP website, just in time for it to become my main device while i was stuck at home during lockdown. Its handled all sorts of graphic and editing tasks that I originally had no intention of using it for. Slightly different, side camera switch different vent location and a fingerprint sensor below the keypad. I have the risen 7 . Great machine! fast decent battery and very solid compaired to the Lenovo it replaced. only complaint is the super glossy screen that you mention. Terrible to see anything other than your fingerprints when outside! love your reviews, best on the net XX
Your fingerprint sensor is under the keyboard? 🤔
And the speakers and the kill switch are situated differently?
Cos I think, sry, if I'm wrong, that you have the 2019 model then and not the 2020.
I have the 2019 14 inch one and it's just as gorgeous. I want to sell it to go half for this newer smaller model
No one wants that old thing!
dude... how much u selling it for and do u ship internationally
P J people who really can’t afford to buy a brand new laptop would prefer to buy it used.. yah never know who is need for one especially if you don’t need a powerhouse.
Excellent timing with the review! Thank you so much!
I remember a 7” HP Envy years ago. I loved it.
Lisa coming with the hotness this week. I'm mostly into Lenovo these days. The Envy 13 is the first HP to turn my head in 10 years. I'm not sure the Envy 13 and Flex 5 are true competitors. HP's pricing is a bit slippery, similarly spec'd the HP is almost 2x as expensive.
That's a good point. I have been comparing the flex 5 with this. The key difference is build quality? The lenovo also comes with 16gb ram as a base model I believe.
in germany they both costs the same. which should i buy?
Think of having a grand mother like Lisa. My God, if someone asks me which tech to buy I have to inefficiently answer, "Ask my grandma". 😅
She's not that old
@@mjabdus86 old enough
She may look old, but she's one of the queens of tech reviews !
This is so true. She is the queen of technology reviews. I remember when I was just a highschool student having some interest in all things technology, she was my favorite tech reviewer. I mean, until now. :)
Wow what an asshole. You literally called her old. Language barrier maybe?
She is the ideal grandma for tech enthusiasts
Hi Lisa, thanks for the review! Can you please review HP Envy 15 inch version? 🙏
I'm seeing envy 360 15.6 has 250 nitts and poor color accuracy. Are you all seeing this? I need it for using a photo reference off a display to do an oil painting on a canvas.
Thanks! I've been waiting for this one
Thanks for the very thorough yet concise review. Appreciate you.
Great review, Lisa. For artists, how does the MPP here compare against the Wacom AES in the Lenovo Flex 5?
The Flex 5 has a poor rgb gammut of only 56% and the Envy x360 13.3 has a rgb gammut of 109%
Hi, great job on the review! I am getting much different results when it comes to thermals. The unit I'm reviewing easily gets into the lower 90s when running benchmarks, and close to 100 degrees when bench marking games. I have the Ryzen 7 4700U configuration, which could account for the difference, but I'm surprised to see that our results are very different.
With 2 extra CPU cores and 1 extra GPU core in the same chassis, it would make sense that your model runs higher temps...
@@drewskimcg2822 I do not experience this on my R7 units :
Max at 83°C if not repeted load and 92°C if I push it to max for > 20 minutes
I have seen hundreds of tech reviews.. If not thousands, but a lot of time Lisa's video will the final one to make that crucial decision. I don't know if she is as old as she looks or as young as she looks, but I definitely know, she is god darn strong in tech. And it makes more sense to sponsor a review with an unrelated product rather than getting paid by the company / affiliate for which you are reviewing! So kudos on that too! Superb Lisa, I really appreciate the stuff you do.
Thank you 😊❤️. I can't speak to the 13" version, but the 15.6" version of the Envy X360 has two ram slots and a SSD that can be upgraded.
the 13 inch cant upgrade ram as its soldered , but i bought the 16gb ram one ,so im fine, the ssd is upgradeable though
Yeah! After struggling to video edit on a HP Ryzen 3, 4GB RAM I have the new HP Envy Ryzen 5 360 arriving today!
Hope you don't need to open high res images with that 4GB RAM. Not meant as a criticism personally to you as it is your choice, but most new phones come with more now and don't have to run Windoze.
The RAM configuration on these ultra thin laptops is fixed so seriously consider 8GB a minimum and 16GB as desirable if you open/edit large images / video etc.
@@peter3867 No worries, my HP Envy has a 4th gen Ryzen 5 with 8GB DDR4 and 256 SSD. The Ryzen 3 4GB did manage 1080p video editing and post processing images in GIMP, it just took it's time lol and sometimes got stuck for a while.
How is it?
@@ChickenGaming-er2dy Good! much faster than my old laptop, and no problems with it at all. I never have problems with HP thankfully.
bought mine yesterday, thank god the review is actually very positive :'D
Is the fan noise ok or is it bad ?
Revenge its gets loud every like 30 min, but not to the point where you would want to return it after hearing it
i think its totally okay in the quiet setting, really happy with the laptop
Have you had any trouble using youtube and other streaming sites? I've had 2 hp envy computers that flickers green everytime I watch youtube and netflix, but i dont know if I'm just the unlucky one or if its a problem with all envy x360.
@@heddus97 uhm, no, i watch a lot of youtube (via firefox) and Netflix (win app), works fine in both cases
Thanks. Another great review. You helped me pull the trigger on a Lenovo P52s two years ago. Time for a home/kid/netflix 2-in-1. Envy X360 looks like a great option.
Of all the Envy x360 review ive seen..this one is the BEST ! great job
Hi! Just want to ask if this laptop can run autocad, and for how many years do you think it will last? It will be very helpful for me if you reply, I really like this laptop but I have doubt since its touchscreen, it will not last very long. Please reply thank you!!💖
Hey this was a fantastic review!!! Thankyou so much! I'm looking for an effective laptop for study at the moment and I'm down to two or three choices, was trying to justify the price on this over the ASUS vivobooks. This review really helped sell me on this choice. I love the spectre but I just don't need all its features. I have a kick ass desktop at home so this is really just for uni work.
I just recently got my self the Ryzen 5 model with AMD Graphics, full 1080 display, Bang and Olufsen Audio (whatever that means...) 1TB SSD and 32GB ram for $1,200! It also has full SD card support, lightning USB, 2 regular USB ports and a headphone jack. Kinda sucks that laptops these days don't have CD drives as I still like to burn CDs and watch movies on DVD, so I guess I'll have to buy one, and unfortunately the model I have also doesn't have an ethernet port, another thing I'll have to get at some point.
Otherwise, definitely a big upgrade from my $300 5 year old HP laptop, but I'll definitely be keeping my old laptop for the cd drive for now.
I bought this laptop a month ago.. and I am fully satisfied by it
Finally, a convertible that seem to tick all my boxes! Thank you AMD!
Heyy Lisa Thanks a lot🙏...
Based upon your review, I ordered this laptop recently...just now😀
Hope that it will give better performance.
Thanxs Lisa always great reviews... I am considering a new laptop so I'll add this to my list
I had a long list and finally decided on this one, have ordered it but it's still going to be 10 days :(
@@zakk-kaye May I ask how it’s performing??

Thank you, Lisa, and MobileTechReview for this review! You are always my first and often enough the only reviewer I watch for new devices. I'm on the lookout for a new 2-in-1 ultrabook to replace my aging Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and the Envy might just be the one. Any idea for how good the palm rejection for handwritten notes is nowadays on Windows and this Envy? Or are the Surfaces still best for pen writing on Windows? The alternative is to stick with my Yoga for another year or two and rather get myself a tablet on top (for studying). Anybody?
Same here ... except a few times I don't see the product I am looking for, but I guess she can't cover everything 🙂
I'm sadly not the reviewer here, but I can confidently say that I have tried a friends surface 8 for a couple hours in university, then went back to my envy at home.
I have to say, there was obviously a difference, but not enough for me to complain.
The envy is inferior, no doubt. But for the price difference, I will never regret having an envy.
@@chinmaypatki4690 I was eventually able to get a display model of the Pro 6, i5, 8GB, for a very good price and am happy enough with it. It's perfect as a stand-alone mobile PC, but struggles occasionally with an external monitor and various USB peripherals (which I hadn't initially intended to use with the PRO). Happy with my purchase!
The quality of your reviews is just insane!
Excellent review!
Really helped me narrow down my options for what performance ultrabook to get.
(Hint, it's probably going to be this!)
Envys are such good bang for buck. Best $500 bucks ive ever spent.
Can you also do a review of the HP Omen 15 2020 AMD Version?
It looks like a good balance between performance, build quality and price.
Omg what a lovely video. Watching so many tech review videos and you’re such a nice refreshing face and energy 🥰🥰
Really nice review, finally someone say if the ram is dual channel or not.
Great review and channel!!! Is the Envy a better choice compared to the HP Probook X360 435 G7?
Wonderful review as always Lisa - Thank you! BUT - Being this unit has a bigger 15" brother, you missed a VERY important and standout note. AS we know, most laptops don't allow Ram upgrades, so when one does, that should be screamed from the mountain tops! I would think if people knew the Big Brother 15" has up-gradable ram, that may be a deciding factor for some people - too bad that important point was missed. I bought the 15" version over the weekend and upgraded the Ram to 32GB, wonderful! Please keep up your awesome reviews!
certainly is a deciding factor for me, so I'm glad they included it.
The HP envy 15 is coming out soon. Will you be reviewing it?
It's out already
Fantastic review. Good to see a slightly upscale competitor to the Flex 5. I think the screen will sell it for me.
I literally just got mine this morning and am using it right now!
@John Lear it can get pretty loud when you're stressing it and it gets hot if the fan isn't cranked when you're doing intensive work. Just turning it on won't turn on the fan. Just to note I have the ryzen 7 version that does not actually have smt so it's 8 cores 8 threads. I also have the 1000 nit screen option, which seems less bright than I would have thought and it doesn't support HDR. It smudges super easy and gets a little bit dim off-axis but I'm not sure if that's because the 1000 that one has a privacy filter. Other than that, I really enjoy the colors and the vibrancy of the screen and for media consumption it's pretty great.
I'll answer any other questions ASAP if you need!
@John Lear I've used mine for a few days now, DO NOT BUY IT.
At first, I really loved it and it's a great starting point, but ever since the unboxing I have had nothing but problems to the point where I have just requested a refund.
Wait for at least 2 months until HP gets themselves together.
What the heck! You are amazing like i seriously can't say enough good things about your reviews
Greeting Lisa, I'm pretty curious about your mic, would you mind telling us exactly which microphone you are using? @MobileTechReview
I like almost everything about this despite the lack of HDMI. It is still the most reliable port when you need to constantly hook up your laptop to projector in client's place. Still this will likely be the one to replace my aging 7 years old laptop.
Quick question though, what's your thought on the durability of the drop jaw USB port? And if it's broken off over the years, will it still hold on to a USB cable/device? I tend to keep my stuffs for a long time.
@@DDRandDSLover same, was looking out on zephyrus g14
Awesome review!
Are you planning to review the Probook 435 x360 G7? (on paper basically this but as a probook with ports and upgradabality)

Very nice. Thank you for the review.

Hi Lisa, after doing several days of exhaustive research on 10 other laptops I purchased the HP 360 15.6 10 days ago. Your review of the Envy 13 and the Lenovo 15 sold me on the Envy 360 15.6 with the AMD Ryzen 7!!! I'm very happy with this convertible laptop!!! In the last 10 days MS has done 3 updates which included Windows 10 2004 which in event viewer failed to load, at the same time HP flashed UEFI 2 times. My display started flashing and several drivers were corrupted according to HP tech support. Do you share your thoughts or recommendations on YourTube about this Windows 10 2004 update that's causing problems with the Radeon graphics GP? These issues are effecting many Envy 360 owners in the HP and AMD community? Lisa you are one of the best computer reviewers on RUclips. You are informational and you instructive too. Thank You. I am subscribed!!! Ding Ding!!!
Resolution: Don't use Windows because their Update policy is a mess, as is their Update Model with Rollbacks and Corruption being the norm on any vendor.
Omg the Best review I saw in years! 1+ suscriber!
Excellent review. Very thorough and informative.
I have the 2019 14 inch version with ryzen 5 with Vega 8 and it's really good and super thin laptop. I can play some games on it, not all but some games play really well. I can't wait to get a gaming laptop. I just built a gaming PC and it's the best ever but a gaming laptop would be even better. One with decent battery life..

Really thorough. Very good review. Thanks a ton.
Great review, Lisa. Darn, the Power Button next to the Delete key was one of the dealbreakers for me with their Ryzen Omen. Shame HP carried that same illogic over to the Envy too.

I have the 2018 model of this laptop, I love it, but my issue comes into place with HP's driver support. Last HP signed display driver for my model was posted in May of 2019.
