Nothing wrong with an EcoBoost. V-8 snobs need to go away. I have both - a 19 Bullitt and a 22 EB - they are totally different cars. I love them both for different reasons. Only thing they have in common is the shape of the body. Totally different driving experience. fun going from one to the other.
Don’t worry. Owners I met are good. Owners in online groups are immature clowns that ruin the pages. You don’t care about their opinions anyway. I’m in a V8 right now.
The EcoBoost Still Has More HP then the V8s Of Years ago. And maybe Double the MPGs! I have a 21 EcoBoost and Its the Most Fun Car Ive ever had. I don’t need V8 Power and I took a 445 Mile Trip and Got 34MPGs and Still had 70 Miles of Gas left from the original Fill up!! 15.5 Gal Tank!

Not true! I took my car on a trip from Las Vegas to Ventura county California (and back). Keeping it at 80 mph for the most part, I actually got similar results; 38 mpg to CA, and 34 mpg to NV.
Typical road trip I get between 29-34 mpg, depending on how hilly the drive.

Absolutely man! Get one and don’t look back. It’s a lot of car for the money and a huge level up for a lot of people. I enjoyed daily driving mine a lot over the last year.
My 2020 ecoboost premium 10 speed is a fun commuter car. Decently fast. Averages 25-26mpg. Decently comfortable. Looks good. Doesnt break the bank.

Its refreshing to see someone be positive about the Ecoboost. I have a 2020 myself and i find it quite enjoyable. Tuned, exhaust, intake and of course a blowoff valve for those sweet air sounds. Lots of fun. Great review.

2017 Ecoboost with modifications awesome car
I’ve owned my 2018 base Ecoboost with MT-82 six speed manual, 101A and wheel and stripe packages. I echo the sentiments here. It’s been a great daily driver.
My only mods were strut tower brace, COBB stage 1+ kit (CAI and access port tuned with OTS stage 1 tune), Steeda clutch spring, custom 2.5” car back exhaust system (single Magnaflow muffler mounted where stock resonator used to be, and 4” chrome tips), and a white cue ball shifter knob.
Gets around town with quite a bit of zip, but with better mpg than the GT. Take it to a winding road, and it gives me smiles for miles.
@@E52O4 That's awesome, I wish I would have found a manual as that'd been even more fun. Unfortunately I was in a time crunch so had to go with what was available. Also had forgotten to mention I too did the brace.

When I was younger I thought that having muscle car that wasn’t a v8 was a waste of money till I got older and realized that the engine isn’t so important plus it depends on what you want me personally I want a fun daily that can still get me good gas on long trips and this car is perfect for that can’t wait till I get one
It gets very good gas mileage. well I only use premium, and I get like 35 doing 75 with the top down
I purchased a base model EcoBoost with a wheel package 19/ 255 6 speed manual transmission and use it as my daily driver and have loved this car. I'm getting decent gas mileage and I've not had one problem with his car since I made the purchased

You’re not alone. I am a proud owner of a 2018 base model ecoboost with wheel and stripe package, 101A package (larger center console display, power front seats), MT82. Bought it new, and only minor mods (COBB stage 1+ Kit with CAI and stage 1 tune, custom 2.5” exhaust, strut tower brace, fired racing hood struts, Steeda clutch spring, 2.3 turbo badging, and a white cue ball shift knob - just because). It’s plenty quick, a blast to drive down twisty roads, and gets great gas mileage (22 mpg city, 26 mpg combined, and 32 mpg or better highway. Wouldn’t trade it for a 2024 because they don’t have a manual option for ecoboost, and I’m not a fan of the tablet screens.
I enjoyed this honest, intelligent review. Around my 55th birthday April 2021 decided to get a Mustang - after years in company car Fusions and 2004 Thunderbird for weekends just wanted different. My heart said GT and I could afford it, but in the end my head said Ecoboost. Bought a 2020 premium with active exhaust and a few other options, $28K after aged inventory and other dealer incentives and a $1,500 coupon from Ford. Really, it’s serving quite well. Completely agree, great daily driver and excellent on road trips. Sure it’s no V8, but as you say, it’s no dog. One reason I wanted the GT is concern about how hard the little four banger works and how it will age, but I’ll be diligent with the maintenance. Never thought I’d consider modifying, but now I sort of want to upgrade the intercooler and perhaps a reasonable tune, one day. This review almost makes me wish it had the manual transmission, but 10-speed with paddle shifters is fine most of the time. I know some people hate on it, but it’s still a Mustang, just a horse of a different color.

I’m right there with you! My ❤ says V8 for the rumble and roar exhaust. Oh yeah! My head (and frugal self) says Ecoboost for the daily commute and settle with the exhaust that provides a nice growl. This review and your comment helped steer me back to reality and practicality that will keep me smiling for many, many fun miles. Working my monthly budget will keep me smiling too with saving on fuel, insurance, tires, etc. = more money in the bank for great Mustang road trip adventures across the USA. I can hardly wait! I own a 2021 ecoboost with 6 speed manual and love it, after many many v8 Stangs. My Stang has 315 HP to wheels and mine is a premium stang. Love my ecoboost. I have 50 years in auto body business and could care less what any wimpy a$$ punk says a word about it being an ecoboost! Everyone who sees me driving it loves it, I love it, but again I've owned a crazy amount of sweet muscle cars in my day, my 1st car aa a teen was my 1967 GTO. Onto a 69 Mach 1 after. So on and on. Oh and where I live a gallon of frigging gas is $545 a gallon for 87 octane. Again I'm loving my 2021 Mustang ecoboost

I absolutely love my ecoboost, it has a muffler delete and blow off valve and I modded the exterior looks meaner than a GT. It's a fun ass car, if I want a v8 I can always get one, but the feeling of a turbo is so fun!

Great review on the ecoboost! GF has a 2016 with 116,000 trouble free miles, it's a great daily driver. I had a 2015 V6 that was fine too. Now driving a GR86 and looking at HPP version of the 2024 Mustang in vapor blue.
As much as I enjoyed the Ecoboost as a daily driver, I think I prefer naturally aspirated sportscars the most.

I like the 10k lower price of the ecoboost. If I buy the 5.0 then it's pretty much guaranteed that I will blow another 8-10k on forced induction. If I get the ecoboost...it will only have 3-4k in mods and I will still have a fun and fast car.
It's pathetic how some guys have to bash the 4 banger. These same guys need the v8 to feel (or be) cool.
I am secure enough in my manhood to drive the "lesser" car and I've owned some of the most badass (built) cars including a tt supra and a terminator.

There are fans on both sides some like V8 some prefer Ecoboost 4cyl, but there should NOT be any animosity between both are Mustangs and drivers should enjoy what they like, prefer or whichever option works better in their particular situation. Both are great cars!!

Thanks! I’d say they are worth the money unless you genuinely just need to have a V8. An Ecoboost Mustang won’t scratch the V8 itch, but it does make a dang fine daily sports car. Especially with the Manual trans!

Glad you liked the video! An Ecoboost Mustang (or really any mustang) won’t have that super lightweight/nimble feeling that you’re used to with the FRS. That said though, it’s still a fun RWD sportscar to drive every day, and it’ll be quiet a bit faster than an FRS too. It’s a fun little turbo motor that even manages to get 32 mpg on highway still!

I just purchased a new 2023 Mustang ecoboost with the 10 speed automatic. I was looking for something that was fun to drive and not get you in trouble. I can do 0-60 times better than the challenger scat pack that I got rid of before moving to NC. The insurance is less than a v-8 and if you’re easy on the pedal you can get over 30 mpg. I think this car is a great entry level muscle car for a novice driver. You don’t want to watch a RUclips video of you smashing up your car because you don’t know how to handle the horsepower.
Agreed. And the thing is, the Ecoboost can still get plenty sideways if you want. I had lots of fun with oversteer. I almost think it was easier to get sideways a low speed than a v8 simply because it has a lit more low-end torque with the turbocharger. It was also super fun to drive in the winter with snow tires.
I have a 2020 Ecoboost with the 10 speed auto. I've not had a lick of issues with it. Very very fun to drive and it'll get it! I've mashed the pedal and it will throw me back into the seat. It's hard to fit my 2 bass guitars and my gig bag in it, but I manage.
I get an avg of 24-26 mpg city/commute (my work commute is like 12 minutes)
We went to Tennessee last year and I got 33-34 mpg highway.

I have a 2020 and everyone makes fun bc it’s not a 5.0 but I wanted this bc I wanted a fun cheap car that will save me money since I’m saving up for a down payment on a house. Rather flex a house than a 5.0
Definitely get that man! Honestly I find reactions and comments like yours to be super cool. The Ecoboost definitely hits a sweet spot and makes a lot of people super happy. I may have to do a legitimate Ecoboost build series in the future.

Nice honest review I bought a 2019 mustang base ecoboost 6 speed manual love the car I had it for a month and half now no issues so far bought it used 36k miles 1 owner and still have 1 year power train and 1 year bumper to bumper left paid 20k out the door

Absolutely! A lot of people think they need the V8 even though the Ecoboost is honestly a pretty fun little motor for a lot less money.
I have a lighting blue '18 with the 6-speed and love it. Would not trade it for a coyote. I call it my "DoorDash beater" but love the thing. I have put 50k on it myself and have only had a problem with the rear caliper e-brake levers hanging up which I just lubed up and fixed myself. Besides, once you have to do work on it you will be glad it has a "baby" motor and you don't have to work around that giant coyote they shoved in under the hood.
nice vid! I have an 2018 6 spd with a mere 11k miles and the thing that stands out most with the difference between the GT and the Eco is handling. The Eco dives into turns as the GT tends to want to wash out or the rear suspension unloads and you cant really dig hard coming out. Gapped a few Srt's but their bigger motors definitely start to reel me back in in the top end. Eco is a 1/8 mile car against V8's after that the power difference really shows up. Super fun car while on boost. Still bone stock with the exception of a Steeda BOV adapter

When you buy the echo boost, which is a pretty nice deal but Ford does not tell you about the carbon buildup if you don’t drive this car consistently day in and day out
Yeah these are direct injection engines so ultimately they’ll need the valves cleaned every so often to keep carbon from building up on them. It would have been nice if Ford had done a Hybrid of Port/Direct injection like Subaru does with the FA-series of engines.
I have Bolton on my 2019 and it runs great. The Lambo doors are a hit also. It's meant to compete against other 4 cylinder turbos, but hangs with the 5.0 at RTs also when Mods are added.
I just wish Ford named the engine something other than eco-boost. It just rubs me the wrong way
Ehh it’s all marketing. The Ecoboost name has become pretty popular, so I’d say it worked well.
There is no 301A package for the Ecoboost.. The 301a is a GT package. The packages for the Ecoboost are 100a, 101a, 200a, 201a.
I've just purchased a 2015, EB, PP, Recaros. but with just over 20000 miles. A similarly equipped and miled GT would have cost easily an extra ten to fifteen. I'll take the smaller mill because I like turbo noises and money.
I'll also point out, the s650 ecoboosts will have no manual at all. Anyone looking for a plus sized BRZ should be snapping up remaining stock of manual turbo s550's.
Dude, a PP+Recaros Ecoboost manual would be an amazing car! If my car had had the Recaro seats I may not have sold it frankly. Pretty rare to find them in a Manual ecoboost. (Just sold the car in this video about a month ago FYI).
Right now I am taking some time to save without a monthly payment. Going to heavily consider my next purchase. Right now the short list includes an S550 Coyote with Recaros (never owned a V8), or a very late model WRX STI with Recaros (I often find myself missing my last STI). I’ve got a while to decide, so hopefully won’t have to hold back at all when the time comes!

@@ShiftyIntentions I had a comp orange 2015 with ONLY cloth Recaros and PP. Now THAT was the perfect hoon. No nav. No Shaker. Nothing. That's the one to look for. Sold during Pandemic. Very dumb to. If you are looking for a GT, try to find one of those specs. They exist and are equally as good. Stock seats are terrible, and cloth Recaros should be non negotiable.
Keep saving! Either the STI or GT will be a great choice in the long term, though the GT will hold its value a lot better if you get cold feet.

I loved my Ecoboost fiesta...until it blew around 100k. Had it since new...oil changes every 3k miles. Ford didn't stand behind the product or service. Never ran right afterwards. Since then...nothing newer than mid 90s...as little tech as possible
That is unfortunate, but doesn’t exactly speak for every ecoboost engine on the market. Out of curiosity, was it a regular Fiesta or an ST?
I've studied the 2.3L Ecoboost engine cuz I think the Ranger is one of the best pickup trucks offered out there right now. My question about this package is... Aren't you worried about engine reliability/longevity? And also... resale value(?)
Nope not at all. The Ecoboost 2.3L is a pretty stout engine as long as you treat it well. I always ran great quality Motul oil in it, and my tune was very mild. There are lots of these engines well above 150k miles out there in other platforms, and some in Mustangs as well. In my experience, most of the reliability complaints came from people failing to maintain them properly and driving them poorly (high load/low rpm driving). Any DI turbo 4 is going to be sensitive to high boost at low RPM. I never went full boost below 3,000RPM and it never missed a beat. Frankly I beat the crap out of the engine during the 20kish miles I owned it, but I never over-boosted at low RPM.
And as far as resale value is concerned I am pretty happy. I sold this car about 4 months ago to a dealer for $19,500 (at the time it had just under 50,000 miles on it) which means I spent about $2,000 to drive it for 25k miles.

Is the 2016 mustang eco boost a good car to travel long distance in, like say from Florida to California?
Absolutely it is. I did lots of long trips in mine. I spent about 3 months driving 8 hours round trip from Iowa City to Omaha and back every week. Think I put 7,000 miles on it in 3 months. Super comfy/quiet the whole time (even with high flow mufflers), and got an average of 30-34mpg on every long trip. I also drove it to Tennessee and back for my wedding (and Tail of The Dragon). 24 hours round trip and the Mustang was an amazing car for the job.
so i had a question, idk if anyone can help but i bought a 2023 ecoboost. i also got the tire and wheel protection plan. now am i able to switch out the rims and still be under the tire and wheel warranty i bought. its called tirecareplus through ford. even if i have to buy other rims through the dealership

As an adult now mid 30’s .. I want something new , I’m tired of wrenching on old V8s as an enthusiast.. when you do it for years , you kind of get old fast .. with the cars .. I had plenty of V8s but I’m in the market for a new mustang none V8 maybe full bolt ons and tune and call it
Well, all I would say is that the modern Coyotes aren’t “old” V8s. People really love them, and they’ve been proven to be reliable and fun. If you want an Ecoboost, definitely get one and have fun tuning it! But I think it’s hard to compare an S550 Coyote to classic muscle V8s, if that makes sense.
@@ShiftyIntentionsI was referring to 4.6L and before. I’ve never owned a coyote, I never thought I needed to . I used procharger on 4.6L 3V and those gave plenty , and cost effective . But again I’m getting Kina tired of the wrenching . If I got a 2014 mustang GT ( only one I’ll look into ) it’s already 10 plus years old. I do like the 10speed auto though .. so maybe I’ll look into Gen2 but all in all eco boost looks very interesting
@@Daniyoyo Well I definitely enjoyed my Ecoboost. Personally, I think the Manual is really what made it great though. I am not sure that the engine has enough character to be fun with the 10AT. I feel like that transmission would take away some of the turbo theatrics and some of the engagement. I know lots of people like it though, so to each their own! I loved banging gears in that car and sliding around in parking lots. It was also the most fun winter car I have ever had. Tons of fun RWD antics with snow tires haha.
I am thinking about buying a used ecoboost mustang for when I go off to college next fall.. my school is about a 4 hour commute. Anywhere you reccomend looking for them? Also, any certain things I should take a look at or watch for before buying? And what kind of gas do you put in yours?
I usually ran 91 octane, but you’d be fine putting 87 in it for long highway trips. The stock Ford ecu tune is technically rated to run 87, but 91 will get you better performance and more safety. Mine had an aftermarket tune, so I didn’t want to risk it.
As far as where to look, I found mine about an hour from my house using Autotrader. I specifically wanted a manual, performance package ecoboost with the tech package and that is exactly what I found. There weren’t many locally, but you can find them! I also can’t recommend the manual enough. It makes these cars so much more fun/engaging. I routinely got 29-33mpg on highway trips with mine, and it had the shorter rear gear (3.55) from the PP. Non-PP cars would probably touch 35mpg on the highway sometimes.
One recommendation would be to find one under warranty still. Something 2-3 years old with under 30k miles if you can. My transmission went out after about 10k miles, and Ford replaced it under warranty got $0. My car was a factory buyback for transmission problems originally, so I think it was at a higher risk of that happening. Still though, the MT82 trans is pretty well known to have some reliability issues. So I would get one under warranty just to be safe. Or potentially a Certified Used one if you can find it.
Plenty of MT82 cars out there with high miles and no issues, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just be aware of it!
I would also just like to mention that the Ecoboost Mustang is an absolutely fantastic Grand Touring car. I routinely drove mine 4 hours one-way for a job about a year ago, and it handled it great. Super comfortable, good gas mileage, and had low NVH compared to a lot of other cars. Plus plenty of power for passing and such. I did about 8k miles in a 3 month period and loved it.

FWIW I also can’t recommend Miatas enough, but they’re obviously a lot less practical. An ND1 RF would be an amazing car for DD/long distance driving too. Just no rear seats or large trunk.

Exoboost is a fine car, lots of reasons to get ome..
But you’re only getting 300 horse and 33 mpg on premium fuel. Not near that on 87.. Lets be real.. $1.25 more a gallon right now..
I only say because its a reason to get a 3 valve gt for less money, better sound and runs on 87.
If i got a ecoboost i would not mod it at all other than mufflers.
Funny 2.3 is exactly 1/2 size of 4.6….
Really all depends what you want though. Ecoboost can be had with nice heated/cooled leather seats, modern interior with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The S550 has active sound management which keeps NVH really low too. They’re far and away nicer cars to live with daily compared to S197 and prior generations.
Also, this is absolutely not dyno evidence, but my car hit 150 mph on crappy 87 octane once 🤷🏻♂️. They’re certainly not “slow” cars. I’d personally take an ecoboost over any S197 for a daily driver. But a S550 Coyote would be a big improvement over the Ecoboost as far as fun factor.
The 4-cyliner 300+ HP engine in the Mustang was Ford's way of letting Europe and Asia know they can do it too. It's no secret Ford has some strange complex because of Europe and Asian automakers!
Still, I love that the Mustang is available in other markets these days!

Anyone have an Ecoboost with the boost gauge like this guy and the big screen with cloth seats (perfer the cloth over leather seats) with 60k or less miles for 20k or less?
You should be able to find this. Just search Autotrader or Carvana for manual Ecoboost mustangs and look for ones with the performance package. They’ll all have the same wheels, front bumper, and wing as my car in the video has. Ecoboost Performance Pack cars aren’t as common though, and especially less common with the manual trans.

Was that for just the muffler and you kept the resonators or something else? I forgot if you mentioned it.
@@jeremiahputnam3893 yep all I changed was the mufflers. The rest of the exhaust is completely stock. It actually sounded great. No drone at all inside the car. In fact it sounded fairly tame with the windows up and never bothered me or my passengers. But sounded great outside the car.
Too bad most dealers didn't want to sell a low price base Mustang. I wouldn't mind if they just put a straight V6 in it.
Luckily it seems there are a lot of affordable used Ecoboosts now. Quite a few with the manual trans too (for those that want it!) I preferred the turbo powerband compared to typical NA V6s honestly, but it depends on what you are looking for.

Stock tune is safe running 87 octane. Most recommend 91+ though.
When i was in college i had a 2006 V6 mustang that i loved… but i was shit on all the time from people with v8s. Made me feel awful. Now i got a 5.0 and i want to shit on ecoboosts. Its sad
Haha there is always the option of “not shitting on anyone.” Lots of different reasons why someone might want or need an Ecoboost rather than the V8. Is it a better car? Absolutely not. But it’s still a good car 🤘
If the car was made after 1972 when automakers switched from gross hp to net hp that 310 hp is at the wheel
It certainly does not make 310 to the wheels. Many people have Dyno tested stock Ecoboost mustangs and none of them ever get over 300 to the wheels. Usually I think somewhere in the 280whp range stock.
@@ShiftyIntentions Correct. 270-280 hp at the wheels ON 93 octane. I dont where the OP got that from. What Ive noticed is that other automakers sometimes do ADVERTISE their cars HP that are closer to what theyre actually making at the wheels (think German cars) but other also like Honda and now Hyunda/Kia. The EN , for example, with the DCT at least its rated at 276 hp? but its closer to 310 crank. American automakers dont typically do that.
I have a convertible. Very fun to drive, but I hate the fake engine noises.

@@ShiftyIntentions yeah the ones they pipe in through the speakers. I had to disconnect the 2 rear mics when I added an amp. It really made it unbearable.

I hear this a lot from EB owners. Honestly not sure what the fascination with d**k size is, but buying a V8 doesn’t have to mean you are compensating for something. Most modern V8 engines are awesome and make for an amazing driving experience. Hearing EB dude’s trash talk V8 drivers always sounds a lot like little dog syndrome. Heard a guy at the last cars and coffee saying people only buy V8s for a “big ego,” which is plainly not true lol.

I loved my EB, but I still want to own a Coyote or VooDoo if I get the chance. It’s just an experience I want to have. I’ve wanted a big American V8 since I was a little kid. And the Coyote even revs too 🤘
@@ArtFam520 again… I don’t have a V8 mustang 😂. I literally made this video review of my own car man. I loved my Ecoboost. But I have driven a GT PP Manual and it was definitely more fun (to me). Both cars are good, and neither one has anything to do with d**k size haha.
Other than buying for the wife or your kid's first car. This mustang is a definite waste of time!
In your opinion, I suppose. Plenty of mature car enthusiasts enjoy them as both daily drivers and weekend cars.

Shifty I own One of 7840 cars with the quad exhaust made in North America. That means when you shift it done into 's, you go Holy. crap.
Oh nice! Yeah the optional active exhaust is super nice, but I couldn’t find one with the option. Lots of GTs came with it, but not many Ecoboosts. Cool car!
