- French politicians from across the spectrum have expressed dismay over the resignation of a Paris school headmaster. He had received death threats after asking a student to remove her Muslim veil, Catherine Khedir-Clifford reports. Monte Francis also speaks to Gabriel Lattanzio, a former high school teacher in the Paris suburbs and now Associate Professor of English at the Sorbonne Law School.

They are in school to STUDY and LEARN factual matters. Not to pray, not to express religious/faith-based or political opinions. It's not a place of cult. When they turn 18 they can attend university with whatever attire not prevented by law as responsible adults.

Men and women not working for the government (which is a privilege and not a right) can do anything they want in France regarding clothing even in public spaces. And it is known to their parents when they sign up for mandatory school that if they pick the public school system that we subsidise with our TAXES for their children it is SECULAR in environment, teaching and all ostentatious signs and symbols including clothing for all attendants until 18. There are cheap and even free alternatives if the parents are integrists. Other children also deserve a space free from religion and politics as much as humanly possible to have a haven of learning and studying factual knowledge. I don't want my children polluted by other children's faith-based views when attending school. Focus on learning. Pray at home or at your place of worship and above all ZERO proselytism.
@@dilonkumar4960 Because historically France was a majoritarily Christian country and even an officially Christian country for almost a millenary before the Revolution and these days off were thus picked for historical reasons (we do not "celebrate" these holidays, the government picked these days off as public bank holidays). But just so you know, Christmas was originally Yule i.e a Pagan European Feast that was reappropriated by the Church so we do not celebrate Christmas but the Winter Solstice which is a secular holiday. 🤪 Yes and as taxpayers they agreed to uphold the law of the land with their fellow citizens of all credence and creed. Public schools for minors is SECULAR by law. Respect the law. You contradict yourself or reveal your complete misunderstanding. Religion is not a race but a belief you pick up or leave or change. If you allow these individuals to threaten and dominate through violence you’re creating a very dangerous environment.
This is the tip of the iceberg. If they decide to do their own thing then no way can the headteacher can keep discipline. Death threats are absolutely not acceptable and anyone doing this should be jailed for a long time. That teacher is so concise the kids know who has the upper hand and it’s not the done to but usually the done by. This lack of respect is spreading like wildfire and getting just as out of control. So we don't have to prove anything. French lawmakers decided to categorise it as such ages back. The pasta strainer would be banned for not being appropriate clothing attire. The same way beanies indoors are also not allowed unless you have a proven medical condition....
Why is France submitting to Islam?
Laïcité both in practice and in all symbols is a non negotiable of all French public schools. We want our tax-funded public schools to be havens of factual learning for our children free or any religious or political symbols whether on the part of the National Education public servants or the minor pupils. Protect this Headmaster and send off this pupil.
