Wow, I am deeply saddened to announce that tragically, the great James Stobie USCG Ret. was killed in an accident involving a passenger train in the NEC North-East Corridor. This is tragic and upsetting, and also a reminder to Europeans to not try and trainhop because the NEC is home to the only highspeed line in the US, where Europe has a plethora of fast moving trains, some in excess of 320km/h with plans to upgrade to 360km/h, as well as Pendolinos, and the NEC's highspeed train is also a Pendolino style train, which maybe the reason his pack was caught unexpectedly as the trains consist will tilt. I was going to ask Stobie to do a winter special, go from somewhere up North and really cold, to South Florida or New Orleans, unfortunately I will no longer be able to ask him this. RIP Jim Stobie, forever hopping trains in heaven.

that is the nicest thing I have read about the passing of this gent... thank you for those kinds words and not the morronik should had , would had...I think it was meant for him to go doing what he loved and that is a way more poetic way than laying in a bed hooked up to machines internally wishing to have reach for the fences a couple more times and not stayed on the path of the dictation of others.

this is quite possibly the greatest video ever made.
wow i wouldnt even argue that! but i wont argue against it
Stobe is absolutely a Legend!
Its a shame you didn't retire the trains here then you would still be with us. 😢RIP
Who wants to live forever? I would rather do a little living before I go, then wondering how things could have been different if I made different choices.
16:00 damn, it's tragic but I have a feeling had he still been alive things would start looking much different for him. His RUclips thing has obviously done better and better as times went on, and I really believe that one day in the future his videos will be quite highly regarded by many. This guy was totally a hidden gem.
I can't believe you went down the train line right by where I live. I wish I had known about you then 😔 Miss you Jim
Here comes the sun. Stobe was a great piano player and a solid dude.
Here comes the sun. doot 'n doo doo. Here comes the sun
restruants
Yeah, I love these videos, coming from a rail fan, I really enjoy them and have learned so much about railroads. I like what you do, it gives that sense of freedom most people don't have or are to scared to try.
RIP Stobe. I rewatch these videos a lot.
Dude you were in my territory! At 10:45 the building next to the tracks with all the lights around the top is a restaurant named Crispers! They have tables outside next to the tracks that you can eat at. I'm surprised none of the bums didn't ask you for money. Lakeland is actually awesome if you are there at the right times. We crossed paths!
Thanks Jim, forever entertaining and gentle.
Wow, I'm watching the chronological playlist of all of his videos, and getting to this one now really choked me up. He was getting ready to give it up, but he would be gone before Christmas...
Yesss another stobe video. My day just keeps getting better.
Bill what else good has happened
Well, got a fresh haircut this morning. Beautiful day outside here in PA. Went to a car show (right next to the NS Reading line), sold some car parts, bought some parts. Got some cold beer, came home to relax and I get rewarded with a new Stobe the Hobo video! Good stuff man and thank you for your service.
@@hobestobe we’re still watching
Cheers Jim!
RIP James William "Stobe the Hobo" Stobie October 23, 1984-November 8, 2017, you live on in your videos!
I´LL NEVER BE HOPPING A TRAIN THERE IN THE US....but Jim made us think of how simple it is to follow your dream and be a simple human with simple expectations, without losing our critizist view. His family must feel proud of him just talk about living.....
Lol, takes random train in middle of nowhere, gets off and is like, "there's nothing out here." RIP homey.
Stobe made the world a little bit better.
Miss u stobe :)
Your videos never cease to be interesting. Keep it up
Great vid Stobe! We'll miss your travels, but I sincerely hope you find the answers that are right for you. All the best man!
Looks like a great trip... I hope you keep riding, man.

Jim was such a lovely soul , a gentle creature, soooo sad , May he rest in peace x
Ugh this is sad. RIP mate from New Zealand, thanks for showing me your country man.
Poor mans Anthony Bourdain. Watching this at 3am in the darkest hours of the night. Rip
"From a distance I got my hopes up lookin' at this place, thinking we had a chicken restaurant... but it's just some stupid ass kids museum" - Stobe 2017 :( Miss you man...
What a legacy this guy left. Although it doesn't need it, this would be a great film project because there is so much material which could include more about his back story.
Jim is the best ever I surely will be forever disappointed that I didn't get to meet this man and ride out with him and 2 30 packs because 1 wouldn't have been enufgh RIP STOBE FOREVER MISSED i think that its awsome and people who don't get that type of lifestyle and I get how it could get tyring
8.4.2020 still loving stobe!! RIP buddy!
RIP STOBE
I really enjoy his videos I wish stobe was still with us I would be looking forward to some new episodes but I'll still enjoy the reruns they never get old RIP Jim
@ 10:47. Sums it all up. Mission complete, peace brother. Humanity lost a good one. 👍🏻
No freaking way! Rocking my 3 week old baby daughter to sleep. I check RUclips to see what The Stobe is up to, and there is a new video?!?? I'm raising my ice cold Natural Light in your general direction! Take it easy Stobe!
Mannn I'm so bummed to hear this man passed away. Been watching all his videos on RUclips. He lived a life I wish I could... RIP homie
pauliethehead you can live that life homie. Don't settle
“kinda looks like my grandma...with that waddle.” lmao....On a side note, this man knows trains. I wish more channels would share their knowledge the way he did.
Wow stobe you went right by our place near ocala. RIP brother.
See u on the westbound Stobie
14:40 Damn STOBE! How I wish you would have taken your own advice and STOPPED before NOV. 8th! You eluded previously to the headstone company (that's doing a lot of business lately) and 'the total population of Lakeland being dead in 3 years...' It's like you were getting the clues - but nigh, for your destiny was made on that fateful day in Baltimore. Wishing you long lines and comfortable quarters on the rails in the sky! I bet you would have been very successful and had your own home and plentiful income and amazing tales to tell! Thankful for your recorded journeys here - but again...damn.
that is the nicest thing I have read about the passing of this gent... thank you for those kinds words and not the morronik should had , would had...I think it was meant for him to go doing what he loved and that is a way more poetic way than laying in a bed hooked up to machines internally wishing to have reach for the fences a couple more times and not stayed on the path of the dictation of others.
Another great video! I had to throw brats on the grill and drink my Schlitz Malt Liquor to watch this video! You're right Stobe, gotta drink malt liquor cold! I like it ice cold! Thank you for posting and sharing another great video! From Crazy Hobo John!
hey glad you like! warm beer in general is awful
There will never be another stobie wan kanobie
4:00 in the morning that's when them damn trains are most active blowing the horns
RIP Stobe. We'll miss you.
We miss you Jim. Hope you ride your trains in heaven that way surfin all the way and see interesting nature and places. + meet all the pianists and rockstars
