  • In this video I discuss my personal experience with the Netgear Orbi RBR750 WiFi 6 Mesh System. This unit has many model numbers consisting of RBR, RBS, or RBK 750, 752, or 753 depending on where the item was purchased and how many satellites it came with at the time of purchase. I cover everything from the setup of the router to the web and app interface, speed and range tests, and my personal opinion on the system.

    I’ve had this system for about a year and works great. Didn’t have any problems setting it up either. Couldn’t be happier with the Orbi.

    Sounds like a service issue and not a router issue or a faulty router. I have the same router and that thing has no issues what so ever and I have a full smart home connected to it

    Setup was a PAIN. Very similar to your experience. Took me about 3 hours to resolve. Kept getting the old router message you were getting, where I definitely didn't have an old router up and running. My fix was to go through the entire setup process without changing any default settings. Once I was through without changing any of it's default settings, I was then able to go in and customize SSID + WIFI password. Hope this potentially helps someone. Good routers once set up, 0 issues now, and great coverage.

    I have the same system RBR750. going on about 2 years with it. I have not expirenced any cut out t over that time . Also initial set up I was having an issue like you but realized I had a separate netgear router set up in basement for somthing for my daughter I had completely forgot about. One I took that out setup up was relatively easy. One thing is have to make sure u take any netgear equip off line before u start setup. I was actually thinking of upgrading to the ax6000 orbi. Urs older system but 8 antennas and more powerful processor. The rbr750. Has the 1.4 qaud. The ax6000 has the 2.6 I think and 8 internal antennas compared to the 6 the rbr750 has.

      I don’t have any other netgear equipment besides a managed switch that I didn’t have at the time of making this video. I don’t think netgear would still be in business if all their equipment acted like mine did. Sad they wouldn’t replace it under warranty.

    I have purchased the same system 3 days ago. The sattelites showed connnected by they were not syncing with the main Orbi base. Also, they showed no connected devices found. I even worked with Netgear tech support and after doing multiple tests, including ethernet connection between the base and one of the sattelites, I still had trouble.

      Sorry to hear you also had troubles with your Netgear Orbi System. I ultimately settled in with an Eero Mesh System and haven't had any issues.

    Just installed same RBK and RBS units (2) and have experience experienced the same periodic internet cut out and flipping back and forth when coverage limited and the wifi connection jumped between satellites. I have purchased another RBK to use to better coverage using it in bridge mode. The satellites are weak. Experienced the same frustration with set up. Also its interesting that my back haul shows wifi 5g on both satellites but they are hard wired Ethernet CAT 6! Can't seem to find a way to force the back haul to the Ethernet connection

      I really wanted the ability to change all the settings should I need too. I have a NAS and some other stuff so I like to have the control over static IPs and using 5G Home internet I like being able to change my MTU. Sadly this just didn’t work. I’ve since switched to an eero and while I’m not a fan of the limited options I have it works great! I ended up just hooking up my NAS and other stuff up through a managed switch to give me back some of those settings.
      I hope you get your issues worked out. In my opinion it’s just not reliable nor worth the headache.

    I have had this 3-pack setup (RBR750 + two RBS750) for several years now and can never get it to function the way it's supposed to. It provides decent wireless near the router, but not the features it says it has (for $450 package). I bought it for the capability of turning the router as an AP, and using the wired backhaul mode for the satellites. I also had trouble getting the automated setup to work. I switched to manual configuration and was able to eventually get the setup in place, with wired gigabit backhaul in place as well. Despite the reported configuration being online with wired backhaul in the web gui, none of the nearly 100 wireless devices around my house will connect to the closest satellite, they all connect to the router (in AP mode) only. Very frustrating.

      I’ve been using eero for a while with no issues at all. I used a tp link set before switching to eero and didn’t have any issues with that either. Netgear just doesn’t have their stuff together and they have horrible support. I tried getting them to help me resolve all my issues to mitigate returning the setup but in the end I just returned it to avoid the frustrations.

    Different strokes for different folks. My service and experience has been flawless. Work tech support for a large company (as well as lots of other pertinent job experience) and have come to the conclusion sometimes there are some duds out there. I dropped a product once because my experience was so bad with it when my friends were flawless.

      Yeah I think I got a bad unit, but netgear wouldn’t replace it under warranty so here we are. I use other netgear products without issue. It was probably a dud. I returned it and replaced it with a different brand. So far no issues.

    I have no problem with mine and I'm only using one Satellite. It covers one full side of my house of over 3500sq ft and with 5 bars. I think its with your ISP and the area you're in. T-Mobile is known to have internet connection issues depending on your location.

      I had xfinity gigabit service and they didn’t work with that either. There are numerous reports of these model/style units having issues. That’s not to say that some of them are not good but I think more often than not people have problems.

    What's the difference between rbr and rbk?

    • @helphq
      @helphq  Год назад +1

      RBR = router
      RBS = satellite
      RBK = kit
      So it’s all in how you bought your system. If you bought the router then added satellites later or bought it all together as a mesh system kit.

    I have this issue since day one and it was a mistake, wifi drops daily at 8 am like it’s configured to do that and when it connects the wifi there’s no internet.
    My family always complaining, I tried everything to fix it but no way, my only solution is to throw it from the window straight to the garbage.

    What i do is lowering the power of the 2.5 ghz to 25% that way you always have good quality wifi (most likely is going to be 5 ghz)

    • @helphq
      @helphq  Год назад +1

      Nice! I’m uncertain if that was my specific issue. I would have constant drop outs sitting 8ft from the router. If you don’t have a large space you’re trying to cover this could work to give you a better 5Ghz signal (as you said) but in my case our house is fairly big and 2.4Ghz travels a greater distance and penetrates walls better than 5Ghz. Yes it is slower and has less bandwidth but for me I’d rather have that then no internet at all.
      Thanks for watching!

    I purchased them in the end of last year directly from Netgear. Biggest mistake I have ever made. Never buy directly from them as they do EVERYTHING not to give your money back when something doesnt work. I had huge connectivity issues, starting with pages not loading the first time I try to access it. Need to refresh 2-3 times, then the page will load. Then I went through the whole process with their support team. Finally I manged them to go through with an RMA. But the package I received with a replacement router was totally trashed and even the satellites were damaged. Now I am hoping for them to reimburse my purchase, but I have the feeling I will be stuck with them and not see my money again.

    I have 3 routers and 5 satelites.. The routers are mess connecting via switch (backhaul) and we shouldnt talk about when extending wifi (threw the routers ) making them in access point mode. Horribel experience! Should not be called MESH system! SHIT SYSTEM IS BETTER.
