I no longer use the KVD-21 Gateway for T-Mobile Home Internet so I can't test it for you. Nater Tater is the creator of the powershell script and it looks like his link is still up. I would assume if it didn't work he would remove it. That being said it might be dependent on the version of firmware you are running.

Reviews on this seems to be hit or miss since posting this video. Mine still works fine and so does my brother's. I wonder if they changed the components to cheaper quality parts.

If the phone is connected to the head unit via Bluetooth you just open the zlink application. The app should connect to your phone. If it's the first time connecting it will walk you through a setup and how to use the app guide.

I assume you're trying to use the restore function in disk utility to the 2TB? You shouldn't get the spinning icon on your mouse cursor indefinitely. Perhaps for a short time when you first click restore but you should be presented a progress bar that will tell you how long until the restore process will take. The only caveat I can think of off the top of my head is because the T7 is external if you're doing this using USB 2.0 or below it's going to take a long while which might be the reason for the spinning mouse cursor. Did you let it sit and see if it starts to restore? Have you tried restarting your computer and tried again?

@@helphq I did the cloning again and I did it but I’m disappointed I’m getting read speeds of 857.6 mb/s and write speeds of 827.7 on Blackmagic Speedtest but apparently on the Best Buy website it advertises the read and write speed as Maximum Read Speed 1050 megabytes per second ,Maximum Write Speed 1000 megabytes per second

If you just purchased them I'd honestly return them and get something different.

Hook up the third party router first. Then turn the Wi-Fi off on the T-Mobile provided gateway.

Confirm that it works, I was able to boot off the cloned SSD.

I believe Catalina is the cutoff for legacy booting. Which is why you didn't see the option.

Yeah it works great! I've since upgraded to the newer model that has a better mount allowing for a more precise placement.

The video card will work on a Mac Pro 1,1 the flashing process requires windows. If you have a windows drive on your Mac Pro you can flash it in the 1,1

For some reason hint control app does not work for turning off both bands on the new white gateway. Have you tried doing it the old way with the powershell script?

Definitely why! Write speed of a USB 2.0 Thumb Drive is 3 - 10Mb/s and USB 3.0 is 10 - 45Mb/s. Now if you have an expensive USB 3.1 or above thumb drive then it shouldn’t be slow but I’m assuming you don’t because you said it ran all night and is at 11 percent.

You don’t have horrible speeds without an antenna. Do you have a 5G cell phone also on ATT? I’d check to see if you get better speeds on your phone NOT connected to WiFi. A directional antenna would help you resolve tower switching as opposed to this omnidirectional one. However there is more to setting it up than just plugging it in. Alternatively you could try switching your modem over to something like the Invisagig by haven technologies. It will allow you to lock the tower in so it doesn’t switch. You’ll probably find you get better speeds just from switching to the modem. fas.st/t/NPNUTn9P

If the target drive is showing 1Tb of unallocated space in disk management then you can just resize the primary partition to absorb the unallocated space right there in disk management. You'd do this by right clicking on the C: drive and selecting extend partition.

I honestly don’t know as I’ve never tried something like this. That being said SMA splitters are pretty cheap on Amazon and you could always return them if it doesn’t work. If you do try to do this I’d be interested to know if it worked. In theory it should .. the question is how much signal loss you get from splitting it.

I need bridge mode or some better way to set up this network. The wi-fi / LAN for this device is really flaky, and the internet speeds are slow. I think I'm going to drop T-Mobile. They have overloaded the area with customers, so speeds are often worse than DSL. To use my wireless printer I have to restart the gateway every time. Local file sharing doesn't work right with FTP, etc. Some games don't work. I can't stream PBS because the device says I'm in another state. I don't want to use a weird double-NAT setup just to get my printer to work. On the plus side, T-Mobile internet is ALWAYS on, rain or shine, and customer service in the Philippines is friendly. And thanks for telling us about HINTControl, the open source control panel for these. T-Mobile has dropped its phone app so now allows almost no control over the gateway at all with its own software. Basically I have been very disappointed with T-Mobile Home Internet. They seem to have no plans to keep their infrastructure good enough for the number of customers they bring on board, and if something doesn't work, it is nearly impossible to change the configuration. However, at least I can reboot the device now from my computer with HINTControl. Small steps.

They haven't been able to get this to work on the newest white gateway. It should work fine on all of the older gateways. At the time of posting all of the videos on my channel the white gateway had not yet been released. You can always switch to a third party like the invisagig to get more control and better speeds.

As long as you account for space to be able to adjust the antenna you should be good. If anything it might actually be better. The house will act as a shield from other signals and if you place it higher than you're statue you should get better metrics.

@helphq Problem is tower is right in center of house where I have planned to put it is on privacy fence about half-way down side of house. I really don't want to put it on a pole or on the roof. I think it's fine where it is. Lol

This is going to be camera dependent, but I feel like I got much faster auto focus after updating. Much closer to an OEM lens.

If you’re referring to the speed test done in the worst spot in my house (reception wise) I think it was 30 Mbps ish down with the T-Mobile provided gateway. I got 560 Mbps down (somewhere in there) at the same exact spot showing that the mesh system was in-fact working. If I was standing next to the gateway the speeds are the same (or close to the same) the mesh system isn’t going to make your overall speed faster, but rather it will just extend the area in which you will get maximum speeds. If that makes sense.

@@helphq That makes sense. When I sit right next to my TMHI gateway, I get about 6x the speed, if not more, than when I am at my computer on the other side of the house. I am definitely going to pick this kit up now

I don’t have anything with windows 7 to test. If you plug the lens in and it recognizes it in file explorer you should be good to go.

Yeah worked perfect out of the box. It could be a bad calibration, but it’s probably not worth buying an android phone to do. If you got it on Amazon I’d just exchange it.

@@helphq I got it, the app has a newer version that won't allow 5g disable. I did get an older version for windows that I was able to use.

@@helphq thanks for reaching out So far I’m happy with the setup I even got an extra satellite hooked up to it Note: definitely not your right out of the box modem it has many tweaks to it only because it does so much more than a regular modem After your done pulling your hair out it actually makes sense why it’s not an easier connection than normal

The kvd21 has two gigabit RJ-45 ports. So if you’re using Ethernet you can in theory get up to 1 Gb/s. It also has WiFi 6 which in theory supports 9.6 Gb/s but that’s for devices within the network not for using the internet. You’ll also never see that speed for many reasons regardless of the application. T-Mobile does not list the specific WiFi 6 spec on their website for this gateway so I have no idea what kinds of speeds you’d get. It simply says WiFi 6 which could mean a lot of things. I also can’t answer the question about the speed difference between routers because you didn’t give a router to compare it to. In theory if you buy one that’s newer it will be faster. I use a WiFi 6e router and it’s much faster than the T-Mobile gateway.

Sort of… it will copy the data for both but only macOS is bootable. So your windows file system will be intact but it can’t for some reason copy the MBR partition for booting it.
