As someone who bought a 6 month NSO subscription, I knew I was getting my ass scammed by nintendo but was forced to buy it anyways since it was the only way to play smash with my friends.
1 year later, friends wanted to play Smash, so I just caved in. NSO still as trash as ever. Good stable connection on both ends? Nah game is going to run half as fast as local play, because screw the consumers you already gave us money. Fuck you Nintendo.
Imagine paying a console 400$CD, then games at 90$ (with taxes), to then pay 25$ per year to access to the full option of those games with a internet service you also pay.
The thing that bothers me more than the online itself, it's the cloud saving....you see, back on the DS/3DS, the save data was in the cartridge, so you could use your game(with the save data) on another system in case you wanted to change the system or your previous one got damaged. This doesn't happen with the switch for some reason. Back in 2019, my switch got an unfixable blue sreen issue, so i had to buy another one. Guess what? When i put my Let's go and my Splatoon cartridge on it, THEY DIDN'T SAVE, even with the same account (i only had 1 month of Nintendo online at that point and to make things worse, both games don't even support cloud save for no reason, so if your console dies or something, say goodbye to your saves). Like, can't they put the save in the cartridge feature for game that don't support cloud saves?
I hated the idea of Nintendo putting online play behind a paywall since the day it went live. I'll never forget being able to play Pokken Tournament online for free. Not to mention that we still don't have messaging or proper game invites! So almost everyone on my friend's list that I met in-game I can never play with again since there's NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM, unless I somehow find them by chance on social media! Plus we all know how behind the times Nintendo is when it comes to online games, yet they're sooo good at keeping hackers at bay! I've been a console gamer all my life, and I too hate the direction online gaming is going on consoles. I pay enough for internet access as it is, why do I need to pay extra just play against a laggy Ness on Quickplay, and a ranked match on Mario Maker 2 where I have to avoid obstacles at 60 frames per hour?!

IKR! My Wii still has full GC compatability, not to mention several digital library and WiiWare titles I bought! Hell, even the GC had GBA compatability, but the Switch has nothing! It's not like they are making profit on their older consoles, and said games would use up far less data than Switch games. They would sell so many more games if the digital library was packed in for free. I can't think of a reason why they won't!
I had to get another system, and needed to move the data, after forgetting to start the system without the SD card. Well, the worse thing was, only the user data carried over, with only one mii. I had to re-download the whole library. At least I didn't buy a switch at launch, because the cloud save recovery wasn't even a thing, which should have been from the start of world 1.
the worst part is that some of the most sold games on the system (Pokemon, Splatoon and some more) don't even support it, and that's terrible. I lost my Let's go save because of that crap
That stubbornness is going to hurt them down the road. If they aren't willing to compete with online capabilities, they should at least give backwards compatibility and the digital library as incentives. Not even a pack-in title! You gotta treat your player base better, Nintendo! They're going to leave you!

i have 4 users on my switch lite but only one of them has a switch online membership (specifically my main user, i have a 1 year subscription which was paid for by my dad since i'm a minor and also hella broke lol) and the most annoying thing is the fact that you need a switch online membership just to receive miis in miitopia from friends and access keys (a thing i do often in miitopia on switch) so whenever i play miitopia as a different user (which i do when i feel like creating a new save without deleting my current save), i have to make all the miis myself which sucks because i kinda suck at making miis-
Being a single player based company doesnt mean your online services have to be trash. I was surprised that switches didnt have lan outlets installed. Deleting cloud saves is scummy after you paid for the online.
Just set up a the wii portion of Dolphin on PC. I don't even need the bluetooth dongle, as it is built in, saving me a usb slotm although, I am not sure about netplay, as I haven't tried this yet.
Same thing happened to me, I got Splatoon 2 and I played it for a few weeks then NSO came, and It’s now a happy paper weight, then Joy Con Drift happened, and it was that for a year. Till I got replacements, and a membership, there goes $100... what a hassle.

Youre Not wrong about the switch online.. but for me , the pay for online for ps4 is cool because you get 2 games (or 3 as of recent for some reason), each month to play on. And exclusive psplus offers. Nintendo doesn't even give out ANY games for with the online pay (nes or snes doesn't count). And we don't even get any exclusive game discounts.

As a person who just bought the Nintendo switch and splatoon 3 for the first time, yes. Just WHY do I have to pay for an extra fee when I already pay for a stable internet connection from my house, the console (and any add-ons like the pro controller or smth) and the game just to play a dominantly multiplayer game? Besides, even the free 7 day trial was so bad, I got kicked out of games half the time because of communication errors.
When you have a Switch but use it for anything except emulation it is a locked box which requires monthly payment to unlock *some* features. A 1999 laptop can browse the internet just fine how much does it cost 5 bucks less than the monthly payed price number me suprised can't even properly RUclips on there without a feature support website browser exploit. They have not leared locking up their consoles plainly for ravenue and originality, perhaps to protect the young but their screen usually breaks when it drops on the screen anyway why even bother.
Saying the NES and SNES games are not good additions because you could emulate them is a bad point because not everyone could emulate them, and emulation quality is quite mixed
In 2030 you have to pay 400 dollars for the console itself 80 on the controllers and 90 dollars on a game that has dlc that costs 40 dollars which you need to continue the game and pay online and offline or else the console won't even start -My prediction which i hope won't happen.

As a person who just bought the Nintendo switch and splatoon 3 for the first time, yes. Just WHY do I have to pay for an extra fee when I already pay for a stable internet connection from my house, the console (and any add-ons like the pro controller or smth) and the game just to play a dominantly multiplayer game? Besides, even the free 7 day trial was so bad, I got kicked out of games half the time because of communication errors.
modern gaming is shit in general everything comes out rushed and with less content then the older games.

When you have a Switch but use it for anything except emulation it is a locked box which requires monthly payment to unlock *some* features. A 1999 laptop can browse the internet just fine how much does it cost 5 bucks less than the monthly payed price number me suprised can't even properly RUclips on there without a feature support website browser exploit. They have not leared locking up their consoles plainly for ravenue and originality, perhaps to protect the young but their screen usually breaks when it drops on the screen anyway why even bother.
Saying the NES and SNES games are not good additions because you could emulate them is a bad point because not everyone could emulate them, and emulation quality is quite mixed
Not only that but the online servers themselves are garbage!

In 2030 you have to pay 400 dollars for the console itself 80 on the controllers and 90 dollars on a game that has dlc that costs 40 dollars which you need to continue the game and pay online and offline or else the console won't even start -My prediction which i hope won't happen.
I have a switch....with MP games that I don't play online, because I am not giving nintendo more of my money, they already have plenty dammit and I am paying PSN+ I am not paying another Online shitty service. The games I own can be play solo on switch which is what I am doing but not a single one of those are 1st party nintendo games, Eat my dust nintendo.

To be fair to XBL and PS+, dedicated servers for shit, dedicated chat, etc. I’m PCMR but I see the benefit and a fair cost analysis to XBL and PS+ (for now at least).

However many will continue to support switch online because how else will they play their favorite Nintendo titles online with friends. Yes we all know that switch online will continue to the next Nintendo system after the switch, just called something else 0/

*I dunno why exactly online in console is paid, IF it was for game pass only I totally would agree, 'n I'm glad I have Steam for online games, even when they'r expensive 'n flooded with useless DLC, not that I really play a lot of online with friends, but when I do I can rest in peace knowing I'll wake up 'n my game is still online free*

The only thing i don't like about the nintendo switch online is that we have to pay for the online, phone app voice chat and not having no built-in voice chat i just wish that the nintendo online was for free and the switch had built-in voice chat these are the only things i have a problem with that i dislike about it but i love the rest about the nintendo switch online in my honest opinion.

I agree with this video 1000%! For the classic games such as NES, SNES, and 64 etc. etc. I can play those games for free on an emulator any day of the week! And yes for free.
And Microsoft honestly has a better online service overall with game pass and get this, native backwards compatibility! And even the old PlayStation 3 from 2006 has a much better online system than the current Nintendo Consol. Think about that for a second, a 15 almost 17 year old consul has a much better online system and for free! And Nintendo expects people to pay $20-$50 for online? Nintendo fan boys eat that shit up! So my point in my opinion. Do not buy this online bullshit! Don’t support Nintendo speak with your wallet.

Nintendo did probly have to do that to pay for the server's to keep them running but there is no point of keeping old nintendo games away from a paywall they should just let you experience the old time that would be much better
