Man I have watched thousands of hours of folks reacting to Van Halen and for what ever reason yours just sticks out. You key in on all Idiosynchrosies that I nerd out on. Love it man upwards and onwards Mugnify!
He's fun
I totally agree. He honestly analyzes it and does a great job. Love this VH journey
Stop making me blush lol
@MugnifyRTS
Looking fwd to you doing When The Levee Breaks, or Kasmir, Led Zeppelin
My thoughts exactly about his reactions! They stand out for sure!
Recorded in late 1977........no tricks, no auto-tune......3 guys and a microphone. This song to me, was always one of the most impressive vocals of the OG Van Halen.
One of the greatest rock debut albums of all time.
This is one of their best hidden gems!! Great rhythm lead and harmonies!!
Yeah Mr Michael Anthony!!!😂❤
Bassist Michael Anthony was the band's hidden/secret weapon. Besides having the ability to make you forget VH had only one guitarist with his incredible bass tone and bass chops,he's also responsible for those amazing vocal harmonies! This whole album single handedly saved Rock and Roll from the disco era, believe me I saw it first hand! God Bless Van Halen!🤘
David Lee Roth had a whistle register in his younger days! Love this song so much!
I was never the same after hearing my first Van Halen song!!! ❤❤
For real! Same here.
That's awesome. What changed? Can you put your finger on it?
Nobody was!
Van Halen 1978-84 they were bombproof….
The Dave Roth whistle howls! So unique & LEGENDARY.
Let it cook 😂❤
I think this is maybe my favorite song on VH1. I always loved this tune, start to finish
Old Van Halen is badass....classic rock&roll baby....thank you brother 🙏appreciate you
I'm enjoying this Van Halen journey with you!
"Better Use It Up Before It Get's Old"... Pure lyrical genius!!
Yes, that's what he meant by flying high! And David Lee Roth was the king of the howls! Love how closely you listen to the music!
"Little Dreamer" up next 👍
And he doesn’t just listen to what they play on the radio all the time. This track was always one of my favs
Mine too!
Timeless
This is the best Van Halen reaction channel. It feels like my first time listening to these awesome songs and your perspective is really cool.
Wow, thank you! You compliment has me speechless
Having a bad day. Having a drink. Came upon your channel and loving the reaction on VH. This song took be back and put a smile on my face. Thanks brother!
I seen VH back in 90/91 with Sammy Hagar. It’s STILL to this day one of the best live shows I’ve seen!! Alice and Chains was the opening bad!
Same here brother! ‘91 at Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta! Incredible show. Had no idea Alice In Chains was about to blow up big time as well.
The thing that makes your channel great is that you focus on not only the guitar but also the vocals! David Lee Roth is not necessarily known for his vocals but in the early days he was quite good - as well as the harmonies. You have a good ear for music - thanks for the great channel.
For the record, yeah I grew up in the 60's and 70's we all were on roller skates when the world was a better place for everything especially Van Halen ❤️
You are spot on. This song was a concert highlight. My favorite versions were from the 1979 Van Halen II tour where they did 7 or 8 minute long versions with a jam in the middle of the song. Look up VH Live in Tuscon 1979 and there is a high quality bootleg of the soundboard recording of that concert and the FYLT in that concert is pure fire. This is also my 2nd favorite track on the debut album after On Fire. Love Al's drumming on this. Keep up the great work on these VH reactions. It's fun ti see you key in on so many of the qualities that made Original Van Halen the GOAT.
Interesting journey.
Honest.
I love this song. When I was 16 I was dating this hot lil blonde. This song was on and we was fooling around in the car. It was great moment,a memory etched in my heart forever. Good times man! Great song and great reaction! Thanks for doing this man it’s awesome.
I think I was dating a brunette but same thing! Didn’t even know what VD was back then! LOL
They were hittin on Al cylinders here. EVH showin his rythym guitar chops
AI cylinders is a great description lol
This is a fun song!
The harmony vocals are great and michael does a lot of the super highs very underrated bassist who is also a great singer
Love your reactions to Van Halen songs can't wait to see you on Van Halen too and all the rest
And the thing about the harmonies is that it's not studio singers, it's the band members. Eddie Van Halen and bass play Michael Anthony. There were so many bands back then that had great background vocals like this and it was the band members doing them. I still remember the first time I heard the band Foreigner and their song "Cold As Ice". The backing vocal harmonies were incredible! That's why being a musician, songwriter and vocalist myself, playing in bands quite a few years ago, l always wanted all the members to be able to sing so we could have great background harmonies too. And I did end up in 3 different bands where we could do that. Bands don't do that anymore. Mostly because all the members can't always sing. If you hear a band do that now, chances are it's more than likely studio singers. Great reaction. 😊
Man....I would've loved to see the production studio during this particular recording. What a gem of a song... !!! The harmonies are spectabulous ~
It was mostly set up mics and record it. Music was done in like 10 days. Lyrics took longer
Bassist Michael Anthony has such a distinct tone to his vocals. And yes, everyone roller skated back in the day!!
This is my favorite song from them!
DLR croons like Frank Sinatra and screams like....David Lee Roth! His screams are always hitting the perfect note. The Guitar is gritty and powerful yet played with such precision, it's actually clean. Michael and Alex were the absolute best; always knowing how to compliment and accompany Eddie. Never were four rock musicians so meant-to-be.
You are really killin it with these reactions. Can’t wait for VH2
The greatest band Ever!
I had the honor of interviewing Edward for my college newspaper in 1981 when they were in town for a show. What a great guy! Made a kid feel at ease, drank a couple beers, and wad funny and patient with me. I asked a different question that he hadn't heard before. Why did the hand require 5 lbs of m and ms in the dressing room, but no brown ones? He laughed like crazy and said uts always in the last line of their contracts. If they see that's done then they know the rest of the contract is good. That way they don't have to check everything else, but only spot check the important stuff. Pretty smart guy
Friday night's were skate nights in the 70's.
Everytime you hear a new song.."I changed my mind..." 😂
Forreal!!
My favorite track on this album.
You got that "live" vibe because it was recorded live with DLR in a vocal booth.
Don't miss the fantastic background harmonies by Michael Anthony!
Great Reaction! Grew up in my teens with VanHalen! Keep up mang!
I was lucky enough to see them when I was a teenager in 1978 and it was awesome - Their first album was their best in my opinion. YES roller skates and the skating rink every weekend without fail! The best time to be a teenager. I miss those days ...
I love this song. My Dad in the 1980s would sing this song at the top of his lungs. He passed from cancer 2 years ago and I introduced him to VH when I was a teen. He took me to my first VH show.
I played this album so much my cassette wore out on my Sanyo Boom box back in the day! VH, AC/DC, Led Zep, The Stones & Pink Floyd were all still active and touring back then? God we were so lucky we didn't even know it.
yes I did see them at the 1983 US festival in devore California, and they were the last band of the event (headliners) and they came on after dark, there were bon fires everywhere, and Diamond Dave was so hammered, he famously said " I forgot the fu*king words to my own song "...
2:00 Yes. We all skated in the 70s, got our key-skates and learned. Then in the 80s got our white boot skates and Disco skated in the rink and rocked out the Van Halen in the car.
I'm telling you this VH 1978 debut was the newest, best music drug and the whole country got well, not just the sunset strip in LA. Eddies guitar, Alex's drums, Mike's bass and DLRs night club cabaret and shrieking vocals got everyone high!
Thanks Mugnify!
Hell yes we skated! Every weekend we closed the joint, great times indeed. This song got me more ass than a toilet seat my man! I miss being young.
Van Halen Rocks!!! MAGA!!!!
MAGA!!
@@donbabcock2062 MAGA!!!
Between you and @BizMatik I’m loving the VH reviews!
All great songs but my two favourites from the album are coming up, Little Dreamer and Ice Cream Man. Can’t wait to see those reactions
Perfect pop/Rock song
Danc
I was off by a little bit came out when I was 16.
And I did the same thing I just mentioned in the other one smoke a fat one Put on the headphones just got totally blown away.Man, I've never heard a beginning album come out like that hard.
No filler songs
This tune reminds me a lot of the Beach Boys for some reason; maybe because of the harmonies...
Also, would love to see some LIVE VH reactions!
David’i Lee had that whistle register when he was young
I haven't even watched this reaction video yet but I know it will be good. There are many great reaction video creators out there, but you are by far my favorite, mostly because you instinctively know the perfect time to stop the video to comment. Ya gotta comment, we want your reaction! You're the best at it, IMO. Then you back the song up a bit before restarting, again, just the right amount. Great pacing, cadence, comments, and passion for the music. Bravo, my man!
Thank you for that Kerry!!
great riff!!! and one of my fav solos of Eddies. that lick at 06:51 just brings chills every time I hear it! can't wait for you to do ice cream man. the solo to that one, I think is the best solo ever!
You’re seriously dead on, chills and Ice Cream Man is pure greatness start to finish!
Digging your VH reactions!!VH Rocks! now if pretty girls are going to the roller rink, wwyd?
Love your review
I can play all those notes and it just doesn’t sound the same! RIP EVH, we miss you dude.
Great live song! Unfortunately, some of us, had to wait until Gary Cherone was in the band for us to hear it live.
This is my favorite vh song
Van Halen pretty much did this whole record live in the studio except for a couple of Eddie's solo's. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall and watched them record this song.
me too!
My first concert with ACDC
This song was in the movie " green hornet" about 10 years ago
I think you would love to watch “ Hear about it later live 1981 in the Oakland coliseum “ , it’s my favorite live footage of them! :)
You said this song was great live… Just an FYI; every song on this album was recorded live, full band performing together live in the studio. There was some overdubbing on this and a couple of other songs. If you listen to the isolated mics, you can hear the rest of the band leaking through. This album is a masterpiece and changed Hard Rock forever.
The pic of skates was the Van Haggar time. Dave was out of band by then. Sometimes recording they dubbed in music they couldn't when recording. Eddie's son, Wolfgang, was in band from 2006 till 2016. Wolfgang pretty much records his music. Have to check out all the VH spinoff bands.
book a visit with your optometrist
@@cletusbeauregard1972 No he's fine...Sammy was just dressed like DLR that day
This was actually the first Van-halen song I heard on the radio. Then they just stopped playing it on classic radio stations and kinda burned it. Great tune
Dude you are gonna lose your mind on the next 2 songs. This band was so good. I dont care for David Lee Roth as a person but the man was born to front this band!
Great reaction. You pick up on the idiosyncrasies of songs very well.
you have good ears.
When this album came out no one was doing what Eddie was doing, he started pretty much the change in the music genre to modern sound
Dave changes the vocal line to set up the solo section
I think you’re going to like Ice Cream Man.
This may not be the time or the place to mention it but you seem to be interested in drumming, you've got to check out Rush
VH 🎸👑 Edward VH diamond 💎 David Lee Roth 🔥
Many people believe that a REMASTER makes it sound better than the song ever was....not true, Most of the time it just brings the sound as close to the first vinyl pressings sound. Sometimes a REMASTER is taken from a 2nd or 3rd vinyl pressing and the sound quality is sub-par. On occasion a REMIX tweak and REMASTER make the CD sound better than the original vinyl.
You've got to do ice cream man
BRASIL ,FANS REACTION.
Atomic Punk next please off the same album
Van Halen spanks always have
It seems like you pause at every EVH solo
I laugh when idiots say DLR sucked in his prime. Nobody and that includes Sammy Hagar can come close to duplicating those screams! Nobody!
Foghat - "Stone Blue" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Van Halen concerts were extremely loud and distorted
I think most VH fans agree that this is the weakest song on the album.
I guess I’m the minority. I like this jam. Not weak at all.
My cover band played this song at over 50 shows a year for over 5 years straight and the crowds were enthusiastic every time. Jamie's Cryin' was dropped after only a few shows. Depends on how you measure weakness I guess
@rickcastillo3573 this is one my favorite VH songs
@@rickcastillo3573 I didn't say the song is weak. I said it's the weakest on the album. Big difference.
Incorrect.
