My GOODNESS - Thank you for sharing w/your fans yet Another comPLETEly Precious Julia Journal design 😇! And how Stunning it IS that the whimsically elegant outer fabric contains the same colors as those in the appliquéd birds’ fabric from the thrift store pillow - LOVE it! 👏👏👏🥰
Hi Julia these journals are so adorable, the little birds are just gorgeous. You give us all such wonderful guidance and your work is always a joy to behold. You are my favourite vlogger Julia, I am always itching to get creative after watching your channel. Thank you so much. Sending all my love as always xxxxxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘❤️🌟
Hi Dorothy, Thanks again for all your kind words! If this pillow wasn't damaged I would have left it as a pillow! So glad you enjoyed the video- have a great week! Julia
Oh my goodness... I just love watching your videos.. you are so creative.. I never would have thought to pick up that pillow to use the birds... You are opening up a new world to me... thank you...
Many times I’ve needed to hole punch at the far reaches of a project, need to get a Crop-a-dile. I just love unique flea market, thrift store finds. The birds are wonderful, made your journal ever so special.
Julia, I really really love 💖 that thrift cushion, those birds are so stunning...... and you’ve made such a stunning job of those journals with it. Thank you so much xxx Mags
thank you so much for your kind words. I am so glad you are enjoying the videos. I really like creating and it's fun to turn on the camera and share with others. Julia
Julia, What a great project, you find the most wonderful items and turn them into beauties. I am always amazed by your work, but not surprised by your talent. Thank you for sharing.
I love the way your mind works--you are such an artist! And I love most all art--but I have a real soft spot for artists who make practical art, especially upcycled art! Thank you so much for all your videos!! You are such an inspiration to me. God bless you!
Thank you Julia. You mentioned recently that textile creativity obviously meant a lot to me. Well by way of explanation my Facebook page is Angele quilting. We have battled for the health of one of my sons all his life, and last week at 32 he took his own life, in the way he always told me he would. Crafting is and will remain my therapy and solace, so that is why I am so grateful for you and your rich and motivational videos that help me to put one step in front of the other when my own textile art inspiration is a tad overshadowed. Thank you again, what you do is well done and perfect for my soul.
Hi Julia, I've been doing a review on your journals and journal covers and have decided to put my mixed media paint projects on hold for a while and make some fabric journal covers with various insides of paper, fabric etc. I miss sewing and have some great fabric to tap into.
Hi Julia - I 💕💕💕 these! Those birds are so pretty. You always create amazing pieces but this is one of my very favorites. I have the Peltex and want to make some of these. Now to find something as beautiful as the birds. Your creativity is the best of anyone. Love how you are now creating the elastic cord to hold the signature. So very genius! Happy Day! Hugs! 🌷🧵🦜🏝🏖
Hi Julia. I love every single tutorial you make❤️. I get so excited when I see your notification for a new video😀. I am one of your biggest fan , I think you are so natural with your talent. Thank you so much for sharing your inspirations with us. 🧡🧡🧡
thank you so much for your kind words! There are so many wonderful, creative people in this RUclips community. We learn from each other and it's so fun! Happy creating, Julia
What a great find! Those birds are so pretty. This was such a good tutorial. And a really pretty journal. I just started making cloth journal covers and I am hooked. I must try out that material that provides structure to the cover. Thank you for the inspiration. 💕❤️😁👍🏼
Julia, I love these journal covers❤️😘I will definitely have to watch again. I really like that you always do your best going through your process and techniques. Thanks 👍🏼
I've got coupons coming up at JoAnn's. I'll use one for some Pellon Peltex 72. I swear I had a large piece left, and need to dig around a bit in my craft closet. It's been a while since I've used it.
Absolutely beautiful video! However if you don't sow the pages together then you can take pages out or add pages to the journal. It feels like an unnecessary step to me but I love your composition and it's a great video✨️
omgsh what adorable little birdies and the fabric is perfect with it. So cute. Have you used the color burst along with the Derwent Inktense on the same project. I wonder how well they work together? Thx Julia got all my fabric out looking to start a journal cover......nice rainy day project.
Hi, I am itching to experiment more with the color burst. I didn't bring them to FL this winter so it will have to wait till I get back to MN. I have not tried them with the Inktense. Also, I haven't tried heat setting and washing the color burst. They are very reactive so not sure how they would do. I love making a mess with art supplies! Thanks for watching, Julia
Hi Linda, Yes I will remember to do that in my next video. Here is a video where I write with my sewing machine- this is in real time. Thank you so much for watching. Julia ruclips.net/video/7H6uJtOHTJU/видео.html
JoAnn's is good at hiding goods like pellon, interfacing etc. when the store is having a big sale . I've purchased the F2 in a package from my quilt shop. I forget how many pieces to a pack, and I''m still going to dig in my craft closet for what I know I had. (frustrating)
I love your work. All aspects of the crafting world, you are so talented in. I want to Thank you for sharing your talent. I just got a big shot for Christmas. I only have 2 dies.Tattered flowers, and one with about 5 different leaves. I am totally confused about which dies I can buy. I only want to cut fabric. There is a site that has a sale right now,I would like to buy a couple. They have a lot of thinlits, the small metal flat pieces. Can you recommend which ones you like and which ones will work good? Are they very Small? How many layers can you cut? Thanks Julia for taking the time to read and answer. I appreciate it.
Hi Sharon, I usually use the Bigz dies for cutting fabric. I can easily cut 3-4 layers of fabric at a time with the Bigz dies. I do have a couple of the thin dies- thinlits. You can cut one layer at a time with the thinlits however you do need a multipurpose platform to use the thinlits. Some BigShots come with the platform. I rarely buy my dies full price. I live in the US and usually find my dies at Joann fabric, Micheals, ( use a coupon) Tuesday Mornings. Also Ebay and Etsy have several sellers selling Bigz dies. If you sign up for the sizzix newsletter ( sizzix.com), you will get notified of sales. They also have a clearance section. I did a video on some of my favorite dies, here is a link:ruclips.net/video/R2leKqs6K7w/видео.html. I hope this helps. Julia
stitchesbyjulia Thanks Julia. It sure did help.I live in Tennessee way out in sticks.I order mostly online. I will check out EBay and Etsy. Thanks for your help. Thank you for sharing all you do. It is very helpful.
You ran a stitch down the middle and then punched holes in the middle for the binding. Doesn't the thread lift after holes are punched? It's confusing. Btw, I just love your tutorials. TFS!
Thank you so much for liking my video!! It really means a lot and helps grow my channel. This was a fun project- the bird pillow was a great thrift store find. Happy creating! Julia
Hi Linda, I do not always wash my fabric. It depends on the finished project and the type of fabric. On this project, I did not wash the birds, but knew that the journal would not be washed. I always wash thrifted clothing before I up cycle.
@@stitchesbyjulia Thank you for your response. I am new in working with textiles but have been a long time lover of fabrics. I hope to find new opportunities to make using the new fabric I make. Journals will be one of the items I make. I love your style.
